Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OrangeBlossom2 · 01/08/2013 07:09

Ooh now it is August, some of us (legally, who else?) are due to have our babies next month!

funkky · 01/08/2013 07:20

I was 32 weeks yesterday orange. I am due 25th September. Argh! Did my birth pan at MW app this week. MW is very traditional, she was excited I wanted to bf, that I had my whopping cough vaccine, will be in MW led unit etc. it all depends on if low lying placenta has moved when I scan at 34 weeks. But I think hope it has cause I feel baby move quite strongly and low down.

In other news, house progressing along nicely, we hope to move mid August if vendors accept moving date, Xng fingers baby behaves till we settle.

MON nothing out of my boobs yet, though I have dry crust on my nipples which comes off but no actual liquids even when I squeeze.

Hope everyone's feeling better, the rough days can be quite tough but baby's nearly here......

OrangeBlossom2 · 01/08/2013 07:27

I had the crusty stuff for a few weeks before actual liquid too.

Fingers crossed on the house move funkky. That should hopefully give you a good month to settle in! When will you be able to confirm the date?

funkky · 01/08/2013 07:53

They should confirm on Monday. I need to do up baby's room so bad it's driving me crazy but we can't afford too much of an over lap as we will have to give notice where we are at the moment as well. So hoping a couple of days overlap shouldn't be too bad.

Looks like heat is back again today. tucking. Hope you feel better now you are on mat leave. I found spd a lot bearable cos I gave up work really early - worked in canary wharf and the politics was driving me crazy, I just resigned and found out I was pregnant before I started looking for something else. Never regretted it though, just had to cut back on a lot of spending and DH has been very supportive. I am actually dreading going back to the corporate world more than labour now.

Shirehobbit · 01/08/2013 08:17

Hope your Grandmother is ok, orange

Good news on the house, funkky - fingers crossed for a date and easy move.

Glad you've been able to start mat leave, tucking and will be able to, erm, project manage DH and the nursery Wink.
I've been surprised how much I actually needed to get ours sorted. I think it's fair to say my DH is not exactly a completer-finisher type (I affectionately call him half-job!) and the bits we didn't do last weekend are taunting me. Trying to be patient and we should finish this weekend. It's just so tempting to try to do it all myself, only that's not right; DH really wants to do it (his contribution, in a way, I guess, while I'm
doing all this baby-growing malarky) and I did too much last weekend, which left my back and hips in lots of pain.

TheFalconsmistress · 01/08/2013 08:31

Morning, not sleeping great here :(

I am due next month albeit late on 29th Sep is my due date but since they say anything over 37 weeks is term its a scary thought. Cot is due to be delivered in 2 weeks so looking forward to getting that in! Although I am feeling down about living in such a small 2 bed flat I suppose you get what your given its a council place so i just have to work with what i have.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 01/08/2013 09:39

No leaking here but if I squeeze stuff comes out! Am not going to be doing much squeezing!
Hope your grandma is ok orange
Am exhausted, ds slept badly and was up super early. He is now napping whilst I tidy and get ready to visit my parents. Dreading it- there house is not baby friendly in the slightest and I shall constantly be running about after ds. Good thing though is that my consultant app is this afternoon so I should finally know if I get my longed for vbac or not.
Keep thinking its Friday feels like its been a long week!! Can't believe some of us can now say 'next month' when asked when baby is due!

Flyer747 · 01/08/2013 09:47

Good Luck with your consultant app today shooting, fx for you that he gives you the go ahead to have the delivery you want.

Orange I hope your grandma is ok and feeling a little better today Thanks

I tried squeezing this morning and I have liquid too...DP wants to see it later, weirdo!

I start my nct on Saturday. Then yesterday I also booked onto a breast feeding workshop run by the nhs

Starting to feel really uncomfy now. Roll on next month for you ladies due in September Smile

roxvox · 01/08/2013 10:28

Sorry to hear about your Grandma Orange. I hope she's doing better today.

I am feeling really ill so far today. Woke up and had breakfast fine, but now I feel incredibly malaise and lethargic. I feel like my whole body is pulsing with my heart rate, feel sick and dizzy with a niggling back ache and I just want to curl up in a ball and sleep. I've had a couple of really good night's sleep (9 hours+) so I don't have that excuse. My pregnant body is very confusing!

It won't be long until we all start popping our babies out......how exciting

MotherOfNations · 01/08/2013 10:34

Sorry to hear about your Grandma Orange and hope you're feeling better soon roxvox

Not just my dp that's a kinky bugger then Flyer.
Grin that I've got you all squeezing your nipples.

legallyblond · 01/08/2013 10:38

Rox - see how you feel this morning, but sick + dizzy + feeling "wrong"... I would call mw later if it doesn't improve as she will probably want to check your BP and urine to rule out PE. Hopefully a relaxing morning will fix it!!

Sparkeleigh · 01/08/2013 10:50

Hi 1stTimer! Hope you feel better today!

Sorry to hear of everyone who's been feeling horrible, I hope you feel better today Flowers It's rotten being sick at the best of times, but it seems worse when your bump gets in the way of bending over the loo!

Flyer747 I get the same symptoms after eating, it's horrible. My midwife said eating little and often is much better for reflux, but that if you get it you get it, it doesn't matter what kind of food you eat. I've been snacking instead of eating main meals and it seems to have helped a little.

I'm getting leaking whether I squeeze or not, I can't remember who suggested the Lansolish (sp?) breast pads (roofio?), but they're brilliant, thank you!

tuckingfits, sounds like you really needed to take it easier! Now you can put all your energy into managing your DH to convert the loft Grin

[falcon] lol!! Grin what a problem to have! sorry you're not sleeping great for other reasons though Flowers

I had my 28 week checkup yesterday and my usual midwife was back from holiday, she's lovely - the one I had when she was away was a bit scatty and when I mentioned my glucose levels were high last time, she hadn't written anything down in my notes! But thankfully everything came up clear this time, because I really want to use the home from home suit and didn't want to do the GTT test!

I got my bump measured too.. She said, wow, you wouldn't know there was a baby in there, but the measurements came up ok for the dates - I can only assume my boobs are masking the size of my bump when I've clothes on, it looks huge to me!

Oh, and I got my whooping cough jab - for anyone who's worried, it didn't hurt, the painful bit was ripping the plaster off my arm later where they'd taken blood! It feels a bit bruised today, but there's no marks on my arm so I'm not entirely sure where it was done and the baby's been kicking away as normal.

I think I've caught up now, sorry if I missed anyone, I'm trying to mnet in work and not get caught Grin

roxvox · 01/08/2013 10:57

Thanks all. Fortunately I am working from home today so I have basically stripped off (my clothes felt restrictive!) and have been sat still since I posted that and I am feeling a bit better. I have my 31 week midwife appointment at 1.50pm anyway, so will mention all of this to her! Thanks ladies.

Slippysnow · 01/08/2013 11:08

I keep getting caught up with people due in early October, I have to remind myself I'm nearly a month behind everyone... My ones not cooked yet.

It's going to be very difficult (but lovely) reading everyone's birth stories. I'm desperate not to get induced, hopefully it will come naturally.

legallyblond · 01/08/2013 11:14

Ooh - I recommended those breast pads. They are simply the BEST and later, once you start bf, the lanolin cream also by them (also in a purple box) is just great. Pop it on after each and every feed and, provided latch is right, you'll avoid the cracked nipples etc.

1stTimer25 · 01/08/2013 11:26

Thanks Sparkeleigh am feeling better today backache has eased off and i had a good nights sleep! baby is very quiet today but after the constant kicking and wriggling yesterday im guessing he/she has tired themselves out!!
I too have had the wc jab and have had no ill effects from it other than arm feeling slightly heavy for a day!

Hope you continue to feel better roxvox and your app goes well :)

Have any of you ladies been in the situation with work where you have had time off close to your mat leave date and its been suggested by your employer that going early would be a good idea? I had yesterday and have taken today off and it was said on the phone to my other half yesterday that perhaps we should consider it... Dont get me wrong i am literally counting down the hours until i leave as the heat and work load have been a struggle recently, let alone the sexy cankles after 6hours on my feet! I only have until the 20th of mon-fri shifts but i am reluctant to go now because that will change my dates to go back etc... also the financial affect as we have worked out the dates financially as well as what we considered a reasonable time for me to finish. I do have some a/l that i was wanting to save for when i return to work but i am now wondering if i should put it on the front of my leave and be done with it?! Any advice would be hugely appreciated :)

Warlin · 01/08/2013 11:40

Morning all

1stTimer they can legally insist that you go early (I think) if you are taking a lot of time off. A couple of days should be fine though so I would just tell them that you don't want to at this stage.

Sorry for all those not feeling well. I was like that yesterday but had a busy day in work and struggling through killed me! Thankfully I'm working from home today which makes such a difference...meant I could have a nice long walk with the dog, then a shower, iron some newborn baby grows, wash the moses basket covers....oh and obviously do some work Grin. Our cleaner comes this afternoon though and I really can't be bothered talking to her as she's a bit nosy and never shuts up..so I'm going to have find somewhere else to work for 2 hours. Ah well, better than being in work.

August.....woohoo!!!!! I'm due 2nd Oct but as i was early with DS I'm hoping to go mid to late Sept...whether it works out like that who knows but there's no harm in hoping :)

So when I was measuring small at 28 weeks, midewife told me to come back at 30 weeks....I didn't bother as we were having the private scan anyway which was fine. So when do I actually need to go back...and how do I tell them I just ignored their advice??

legallyblond · 01/08/2013 11:42

Slippy - please don't worry too much about being induced! I was desperate not to be too with DD, but then I was at 40+12... And it was great. A really good labour all in all and I felt calm and in control throughout the whole induction process. I wish I hadn't bothered worrying! I'd do if again with a singleton!

roxvox · 01/08/2013 11:51

Thanks 1sttimer, and welcome by the way Smile

I have 2 more weeks of work after this week, then 2 weeks annual leave, then 4 days back in the office before a further 2 weeks annual leave, then my maternity leave starts straight after that (when I will be 39 weeks). Like you, I am keen to get as much time as possible after the baby is born. I think that there is a clause which says that if you call in sick within the last 4 weeks (might be 6 weeks) of your pregnancy due date because of a pregnancy-related illness then your maternity leave will start by default (that might just be my company though).

OP posts:
1stTimer25 · 01/08/2013 11:59

Thanks warlin and roxvox ... I completely understand what they are saying as at the end of the day they are running a business and me being off puts strain on everyone and possibly financial strain to the business to cover me. I just think i will go stir crazy if i leave now as i have no family near by and there is only so much cleaning to do! lol! I will go back tomorrow and am hoping to speak to my boss and for the next 11 shifts try and work in some a/l days so i wont be doing mon-fri and hopefully therefore i wont struggle as much and end up being off sick. I hate being off sick!
Very naively i never thought pregnancy would slow me down as much as it has especially after feeling great for the past few months! I guess every day is a learning day though...

Flyer747 · 01/08/2013 11:59

I think my company have the same policy rox 4 weeks prior any sickness your maternity leave automatically starts.

My medela breast pump arrived, I hope I can bf otherwise a total waste of £££.

My car seat, crib mattress, bedding for crib and cot, breast pads, baby bath have all arrived today but have been delivered to my old address where I no longer live, I'm really impatient and want to see them now! Luckily we still own that property and our tenant has taken delivery of everything. So I will be eagerly on his doorstep as soon as he finishes work tonight Smile

Yeah sparkleigh that reflux is horrid I am now getting it after I've eaten anything too no matter how small...Roll on October

MotherOfNations · 01/08/2013 12:35

Dp's employers have been pestering him for weeks to find out the exact date of ny c-section so they can factor in his paternity leave. When he told his line manager yesterday that I won't have a date until 34 weeks she told him that they might not be able to give him the time off due to "staffing issues".
He told her he would be taking the time off as sick leave in that case and that if she wasn't happy she could sack him.

His manager knows that this is no ordinary pregnancy and that I will need Dp in those 2 weeks. Surely 4 weeks is plenty of notice to arrange cover. They already have him doing extra work that he isn't properly qualified for that the support workers a level above him should be doing for no extra pay.

PseudoBadger · 01/08/2013 12:41

So it's 4 weeks before EDD for pregnancy related sickness that they can make you start leave :)
