So my hospital is Tameside Confused wonder how easy it is to transfer???

Readytosettle · 16/07/2013 18:57

Is anyone else finding the bump feels a bit claustrophobic? I used to enjoy all the kicks and somersaults but the movements now just make me feel really nauseous & like I want to just pull the baby out...it's kinda giving me the creeps now. Not sure if it's just a phase? I hope so....not sure I'll last another 10 weeks or so feeling like this.

Bippidee · 16/07/2013 18:59

May I join in? I'm due 15 Sept with our first. So far, so good, but am on aspirin and iron tablets.

I feel really underprepared for the baby, not so much the birth which I'm not feeling too phased about, it's more getting everything ready. My DH and I are both quite laid back, perhaps too much so!

I've heaps of questions, but will go and read the full set of threads for Sept before I ask any as I'm sure they will have been answered elsewhere!

MrsMangoBiscuit · 16/07/2013 19:09

Hello Bippidee, you're due the day before me (2nd DC here)

Laid back is good! We have most of the actual bits we'll need for DD2 kicking about somewhere, but we're still trying to get the bedroom finished for DD1 to move in to. It has walls without holes in, plaster, and a proper floor now, so we're getting there! Baby will sleep in with us for a while to start with, so I'm not worrying about it yet.

If you're planning on reading ALL of the threads, it's probably going to take you a while! Might be a good bit faster to just ask.

andadietcoke · 16/07/2013 19:10

Ready I know what you mean. The kicks are fine, it's the churning, rolling that I'm finding hard to cope with!

bippi welcome - ask away!!

jennimoo · 16/07/2013 19:19

Hi bippi! Very brave to consider reading all the threads! We have a FB group too now so if you'd like to join that just inbox me your email address.

I'm finding kicks and stuff painful and uncomfortable sometimes. Probably TMI but the 'trapped wind' feeling when the baby's in certain positions is particularly bad...

Dorita75 · 16/07/2013 19:31

Hi Bip you're due the day after me! Welcome to all the other new ladies too.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad kitten but it sounds very positive in terms of what they can do for him.

All this talk of washing/babygros etc is very useful. My question is possibly rather stupid, but I'll ask anyway. The baby will obviously be sleeping a lot, so do they just wear the same thing all the time e.g. vest & babygro, do we only change the clothes if they're sick on them or if worn for a day or 2? The baby won't be living on normal waking/sleeping hours so I'm wondering when to change clothes and whether it just lives in the vest/babygro the whole time?

Thanks!

MrsMangoBiscuit · 16/07/2013 19:37

Just change them when you need to. If DD made it through the day without messing up her clothes, I'd put her in a fresh one at "bedtime". So vomit/milk/poo etc aside, she'd wear one vest and one suit for about 12 hours. I was a bit silly when she was tiny, and had day time suits, in nice patterns and bright colours, then night time suits, in pale pastels, so they weren't too exciting! Blush I found the ones with the build in scratch mitts you can fold over were fab for sleeping, to avoid scratches. DD would not keep mitts or socks on.

TripleRock · 16/07/2013 20:22

MrsMango yes, I did that too! Used to try and put DD in clothes in the day and gros at night so she would get used to the difference between night and day [shame] So silly!

DD would have had clean clothes in the morning and clean at night, but she was such a sicky baby she ended up going through numerous changes per day bless her.

TripleRock · 16/07/2013 20:23

Oh sorry that should have beem Blush but 'shame' is apt too!

badguider · 16/07/2013 20:23

I need a new mn name... since I am no longer a guider (bad or otherwise)... I want one that will remind me of ME... not pregnant me or mum me just me... but my mind is blank Confused

Thanks mrsmango that's the kind of thing I knew was mad but I'd probably try to do, day/night time clothes! What you and triplerock have said makes much sense - thank you!

flipflump · 16/07/2013 21:04

LCR, that's great news about your scan. I've got mine at 33 weeks (next week) they've also convinced me I'm carrying a giant. I'm hoping mine goes as well as yours and my placenta has moved, baby is no longer breech and this baby is of average size - positive thinking!!

SGJ · 16/07/2013 21:33

badguider - confession time - even though I can clearly read and know how your name should be pronounced, I have always said it as 'badger' in my head, then instantly corrected it! So to me you have always been badgerbadguider Grin

Weareboatsremember · 16/07/2013 21:55

Is anyone else ridiculously tired? It's as much as I can do to stay awake after about 8pm! To top it off, I was observed by the new person taking over my job for 3 hours today, meaning I had to be on show and couldn't sit down to teach at all :( roll on September!

twintrimum · 16/07/2013 22:34

Hi bippi & welcome! I'm on aspirin & iron too (and a few other things!). Not for much longer though for any of us.

ready I feel as if I'm kicked much less and stretched more, like they push down on something and flex their backs or something so I get these lumps that rise & fall and sometimes I wonder when they will stop because it is so uncomfortable it makes me feel sick. At the same time I'm reassured every time they move around but it is sometimes unpleasant.

boats I get really tired around 4pm then around 8pm. My brain has long since given up on me!

Joskar · 16/07/2013 22:42

I use eco non-bio and don't have a problem with stains. DH's working clothes are always filthy because of his job and they come out fine enough. Instead of fabric softener white vinegar does the trick. It doesn't make anything smell of vinegar I promise. If you want nice smells you can always add a couple of drops of essential oils to the wash. Much kinder to skin and fishes!

So glad folk are clearing up the difference between all the different types of baby clothes. Baffled by it, I have to admit. We live a bit of a distance from any kind of shop so I'm hoping to get well stocked up before baba arrives.

We have dozens of different gro-bags in a variety of sizes courtesy of a friend. Do I need blankets for the cot too? Does baba just wear a sleepsuit and a gro-bag?

jennimoo · 17/07/2013 06:26

With a grobag they don't have a blanket. I think most babies are too small for grobags to start with (have to wait til head cant slide inside head hole) so you will need some kind of blankets.
We didn't get on well at swaddling last time but its supposed to help little ones sleep / settle so I've bought a 'miracle blanket' on eBay and been practicing on DDs doll...

MrsMangoBiscuit · 17/07/2013 06:35

DD1 spent her first few weeks wrapped up in a big fluffy blanket because she wouldn't flipping settle without it! (DMIL has already brought one for DD2 :) ) You shouldn't need a grobag until they start getting wriggly and can kick off their covers, but you can get some with extra poppers at the top to make the head and arm holes smaller. We had one or two of those, just thin ones, so we used a flat sheet on top, tucked in all the way round, and a blanket on top of that.

RunningBear78 · 17/07/2013 07:11

Ooh good call on the grow bags, the two I bought said suitable from birth so I was going to forego the blankets for them! Good to know ...although then bought some v cute swaddling blankets with my leaving present vouchers from work so they might actually get used!

I have a feeling im going to have an emotional day. Woke up in tears, again, after a nasty dream about dh leaving me Sad desperately trying not to think about it, but am struggling. Have my mw appt this morning, not sure if that will help or not!

RunningBear78 · 17/07/2013 07:14

mammagnomes it is never to late to change, depends how you feel about them so far? I think I would be tempted to move! How far are St Marys or Stepping Hill from you?

Kittenkatzen · 17/07/2013 07:28

Grin At practising swaddling on a doll, that's a good idea I might have to give that a go too...maybe using the big Thumper stuffy in the nursery! Or maybe I could convince DH to lie still a while and use a bed sheet ha!

Awww runningbear I had a dream like that a month or so ago, it's horrible isn't it. Unluckily for DH it coincided with a grumpy hormone day so I had the proper ache with him all day and he'd done nothing wrong! Have you told him about it so he can give you a hug and make you laugh about it instead?

It's going to be hot again today - 30C according to my weather app...hope everyone's got somewhere cool to be Smile

MrsMangoBiscuit · 17/07/2013 07:44

No Kitten, don't warn your DH, just attack him with the sheet! Much more authentic swaddle practice as baby won't lie still either! Grin

I think bump might have flipped herself up the wrong way. She managed to get herself lying sideways across me this morning, pushing out some way at either side. Gave me a very strange, wide oblong for a tummy, until she did a big kick and flipped back round. It sure put me off my breakfast for a bit.

flipflump · 17/07/2013 08:20

Running I had one of those recently too, awful isn't it. I woke up sobbing. I felt awful for even having those subconscious thoughts. Shows how vulnerable we feel right now and how much we depend on our partners. A massive hug from DH and his reassurance that he married me for life sorted me out. He has started to have weird dreams about the baby too, don't know why but he is becoming as impatient as I am to meet this little person.

weebarra · 17/07/2013 08:45

Sorry to those of you who've had nasty dreams recently - not nice. Had one about breastfeeding last night so not too traumatic.
ION for scandi clothes fans, urban elk have a sale on zullily today. Lovely stuff if you're expecting a girl but I also bought a couple of unisex things. Must stop buying stuff....
