Great news on the poo Cheese.

I was just about to say that after DD1 I found the fear of the first poo was worse than the first poo itself. I was terrified that the episiotomy stitches would rip out! I used some clean loo roll to press gently on the area to support it and it helped, or at least made me more confident that everything wasn't going to rip open.
With DD2 it was just easy, but I had a ridiculously straightforward delivery so there was nothing to worry about. In fact, I think the absence of a big head in my pelvis made it the easiest poo I'd done in months!

TotallyEggFlipped · 06/07/2013 06:35

pinkballetflats has a Live home birth thread in Childbirth.

MightBeMad · 06/07/2013 08:04

Morning all - was going to say the same as totally - my first poo after stitches last time was absolutely fine despite the fear I'd had beforehand. It may be much better than you think!

Also, the massive hormonal crying wreck bit is totally normal too and will pass!!! Huge hugs to those of you going through it at the moment.

Was in tears last night with pain. No idea if it's normal gearing up of the bhs or even stop start v early labour, or if I've to a kidney infection. Am hoping that today might be better as the antibiotics kick in, but if not I fear I'm going to have to seek help to rule out anything being wrong :(

madly busy day today a d dreading the heat!

37+1 (cn still muster one excitement at being term though ) :)

dinkystinky · 06/07/2013 08:09

Hurray for poo, no headache and some sleep Cheese - and so lovely your friends baby is here too!

Princess llama - has H's umbilicus dried up now? The thing we found really helped ds1 poo after his stint in scbu was using the tummy tub - being submerged to their armpits in warm water really helped him loosen up his stools. I reckon yuoud get the same effect with popping him, supported, in a washing up bowl of warm water too. May be worth a go?

Re dairy - I think there's goat milk and oat milk substitutes (and some others) you could try if its all getting too much cutting out the dairy - as its so bloody prevalent in food stuff. Goat milk stuff is rank though so will probably put you off dairy for good:-) Given where you are (which is about a 20 main walk from our place) am sure there must be some health food stores around you could try for options. V jealous of you being near that fab water park nor St Charles Hosp in this heat!

Last night I had the song Its Too Damn Hot from Kiss Me Kate on continual repeat in my head keeping me awake. Right time to get up for super manic day - Totally pleased to say no sign of Bean wanting to make an appearance this morning. Phew :-)

PS Pink has nc from original name - she is on list above somewhere - 39 + 2 and she had some concerns about entrusting someone (suitably cryptic? Times crossword has nothing on me!):-)

dinky I had a little shimmy this morning, got the funniest look from ds. Only 2 years old and already embarrassed by his mum.

Re dairy I didnt mind soy milk, though doesnt taste like milk mind. Agree that goats milk is horrid!

esme80 · 06/07/2013 08:21

Detective Dinky!

PhieEl06 · 06/07/2013 08:26

Morning ladies, I have read through but cannot remember who said what. Blush

Ladies awake in the night with babies, I n'awwed, I hope you managed to get some rest & relief from painful boobs/crying/unsettled babies, but you are making me ever so excited now to meet mine.

I'm getting ever more doubtful that anything is going to happen soon, I just feel generally uncomfortable & very restless this morning, cannot get comfy no matter what position I sit or lie. Sad Seen as the birthing ball didn't do much I'm going to do my dance class this afternoon & hoping a few hours of jumping & energetic freestyle will do the trick.

I hope all you other ladies lurking & usual posters are well & coping with the heat!
38 today!

Runswithsquirrels · 06/07/2013 08:29

Is there seriously no one who'll do an OH exchange during the F1 season? Because the German GP isn't on yet he's just sat through an old replay of an old race he's seen a hundred times before!!!

BTW Am vegan so heartily recommend almond or soya milk (not in tea tho, that is better black).

Thinkingof4 · 06/07/2013 08:52

Oh cheese sounds like you are doing so well, and it will get easier. Definitely normal to be tearful at this stage too. How lovely that your friend has had her baby too!

Sorry can't post more just now boys are being monkeys and I need to sort them out!

IcingTheCake · 06/07/2013 08:59

cheese you sound like youre doing great to be honest Smile things can only get better! Smile

Sorry cant remember names but i wouldn't never give away my OH in any sporting season - he doesn't watch ANY of them, its quite amazing Smile

Make a really yummy summer fruit cake yesterday, popped it in the freezer but will probably defrost it to have next week Grin

I know labour pains are different to bh/early contractions, but i had the most painful conversation with my Mil yesterday she asked if the BH's hurt and i said yeah usually they can be quite painful and she said yeah but they don't actually hurt?! I love her usually but she does say some odd things Smile

38 weeks today and if somebody could just let the baby in me know its nearly time to be evicted I'd be very grateful! Smile

PhieEl06 · 06/07/2013 09:05

My OH isn't very sporty either Icing, great usually but when there is sports I want to watch he gets very bored. Olympics last summer was a nightmare because I LOVED it & he hated every second.
Also my MIL is a bit like that, keeps saying "there's no way you're having that baby yet, you're too high" when everyone keeps telling me how much I've dropped & her most recent "aww it's so lovely to see you so pregnant, I hope you go over because it really suits you!", she knows I am hating being pregnant right now, I'm hot, uncomfortable & miserable! She's just very strange!

MightBeMad · 06/07/2013 10:02

Maybe she's just trying to make you feel better phie (in her own, slightly misjudged way?). I've dropped massively too, but baby isn't even a little bit engaged (how can that be!!).

cheekbyjowl · 06/07/2013 10:04

dinky you would be hopeless in a murder mystery party Smile ....off to read thread

scoutfinch1 · 06/07/2013 10:26

Morning ladies,

Cheese I hope you and Juno managed to get some sleep. Sounds like you are doing a great job and like Phie said you're making me very excited to meet my baby.

All this OH swapping chat has made me giggle. I did think about volunteering DP for a swap after he (half jokingly) announced that if I go into labour on Sunday it will be ok because he can still watch the Murray match! He is usually sweet though and just sporty enough to watch important things but not inflict hours of football/ cricket/F! nonsense on me (runswith you have my sympathy with the F1 reruns.) Plus he is a chef and the food more than makes up for any minor faults so I guess I'll keep him.

Icing your posts make me hungry. If I can be bothered to waddle to the shops I may do some baking.

I'm in a good mood this morning, I actually slept like a normal person last night for the first time this week!

Beginningofthejourney · 06/07/2013 10:32

Just wanted to say to those of you breast feeding we went through that rock hard boobs that Theo couldn't latch on to, I found expressing a bit before he started feeding helped deflate them a bit. It doesn't last and definitely gets easier!
Also (I will deny saying this if u tell the health visitor!) but I find both Theo and I sleep much better if he is in bed with me over night! Sleeps well during the day in his Moses basket but doesn't seem to be as good at night! Some nights I just don't have the energy to be up and down. I swore I'd never have him in with me but cracked on the 1st night home! Blush also I never change his nappy in the night unless he's done a poo.

So for the 'me' post just wanted to say it does get easier I nearly gave up breast feeding but really glad I stuck with it x

esme80 · 06/07/2013 10:36

I suppose I would accept a trade runs if you took mine during any golf match being shown...

phie I just think its funny how everyone becomes an expert at judging when you going to pop and how high/low your belly is. At least your MIL said you look nice, perhaps a little clumsily. My FIL just keeps going on about how enormous I am. They are coming over for tea this afternoon and at 40+3 dont think I have the calm to not mention his own pregnant-like belly if he says anything...

Silver15 · 06/07/2013 10:50

Hooray, I'm 37 weeks today.

Well done to all new mothers coping with sore boobs and sleepless nights. I can't wait to join you.

I woke up early today, full of energy and feeling an urge to for a walk or run (I normally hate running). I felt invincible so keen to tackle the house work but all thus energy was used up with just changing our bed and the boys bed. I couldn't even run my own bath.
After a long soak I'm lying on the settee watching batman with one of the boys while listening to the other scream as he plays a computer game. It's normaly homework time but can't be bothered. All I want is to meet my baby.

Silver15 · 06/07/2013 10:56

Lots of mistakes in previous post. Meant go for a walk or run, this not thus and beds not bed.

Thinkingof4 · 06/07/2013 13:03

silver my boys are desperate to meet baby too- but want a girl not a boy!!

beginning it's lovely of you to share your experiences I'm sure the news mums especially will find it really useful. ( I co slept with ds3 and will do the same with this one if they won't settle easily at night. I think as long as you follow guidelines on safe cosleeping (UNICEF have some) then it's ok, but a very personal decision for each family to make

runs Shock F1 reruns!! No way!! I'd be tearing my hair out!

phie at least she's enthusiastic I suppose!

On phone so can't do any more personals at the moment
Well I've had my second sweep, my cervix is a little less posterior but things seem otherwise the same. She booked induction 'just in case' - hospital busy so won't be till 16th July, a full 2 weeks over Shock seriously I'll go mad if I'm still pregnant by then!
So I think I will have to be curry (again) tonight and fx this time it works.
Dh seems to be nesting now (!) he has done all the housework this morning so no complaints from me there. He is very grumpy though I think the waititng is starting to get to him...
40+4

CitizenOscar · 06/07/2013 13:27

Definitely having regular mild contractions now but feels quite similar to last time so not expecting baby to make appearance for another day or two! Think DH is still going to the concert in central London we've got tickets for, and my parents are out of town for babysitting, so better hope I'm not wrong Grin

Hope everyone is enjoying sunny weather, even if you're just looking at it whilst keeping your newborns all safe & cool inside.

dinkystinky · 06/07/2013 13:29

Thinking - am placing my bet on after the murray match finishes for you. Ds2 wants a girl in our house - ds1 is more in favour of a boy. At least one of them will be happy.

Esme - prime your 2 year old to ask fil if he's pregnant - that should shut him up.

Dress rehearsal done, ds1 and dh at climbing party, ds2 and I had a nice chilled lunch at local cafe in the sun and now eating ice creams in their garden before swim class. Feeling v content if hot! Keep eyeing up the kids paddling pool and wondering if I get in if all the water would slosh out...

Ooh exciting Citizen - good timing too with the pox being over now!

SlouchingPanda · 06/07/2013 13:49

No action at all here apart from the fact I just feel teary and super-grumpy Sad. I can't blame the hot weather as I adore the sun, and I'm not in pain or uncomfortable. I just feel like a grumpy uterus on legs at the moment. And frankly I'm terrified about looking after a baby, adjusting to new routines and how my life will change. Getting pregnant seemed like a brilliant plan; it took ages and was all I wanted... it's too late to back out now, I guess. Does everyone have these doubts?

Sorry for the 'woe is me' post. I'm just a bit fed up and hormonal. Normal service will resume shortly...

MrsRoss26 · 06/07/2013 14:18

Slouching I feel like that ALL THE TIME recently. (Plus the discomfort, waddling, cankles...) so don't worry about being down! The thought of bringing home a baby and having to look after it for the next 18+ years scares me too. So no real words of comfort here, other than Thanks

Fingers crossed your birth is imminent!
