Hello Smile

Just quickly marking my place after way too long of just using the FB group! Congratulations to all of those whose babies have arrived (dinky is being great at keeping us updated over on FB!)

Feels very surreal that we are in July already and babies are now starting to be born on their due date! Almost 3 weeks to go here still but knowing it could happen any time is both exciting and scary...

dinkystinky · 02/07/2013 09:22

Shelley ignore your nan - its a really beautiful name. Good luck with the stairs - take it nice and slow - and enjoy your bed! I too look a lot less youthful than when I had ds1 - but the good thing is I now have 7 years of being a mum under my belt, so am much more chilled out about the baby maelstrom that is going to hit any day soon :-)

Cheese - bless the LU guy. Oddly enough some people won't give up a seat unless they see a badge (regardless of the humungobump) so I think he was genuinely trying to be helpful.

Still waiting for the worlds slowest warden to deliver the elusive permit (sadly we live in a different borough to the hospital Evelyn) so think am going to make some banana bread to pass the time this morning. Also need to sort out the medicine cupboards at some point today - fun, fun, fun....

dinkystinky · 02/07/2013 09:26

PS NotPrincessKate - good luck with the bf today. When my nipples were really sore, I pop a pair of breast shells in my bra which let air get to the nipples and keep material off them. Creates a funny shape but worth it to avoid the discomfort.

TotallyEggFlipped · 02/07/2013 09:34

Mmmmm. Banana bread. That has to be one of the top 10 smells in the world.

shelley - ignore your nan. Florence is a beautiful name. I know someone with a DD called Florence, but she gets called Florry now, which is also lovely. Whatever happened to 'if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all'? Of course you look older now, but so does everyone. In fact, the younger you are, the more obvious an extra 6 years is - DS must have 'aged' the most, whereas I bet your man looks almost the same Wink. So take it as a compliment Grin

wavesandsmiles · 02/07/2013 10:00

Congratulations vinegar Smile

It's all suddenly feeling a bit real for me, now that we are in July.... I'm not due until the end of the month, but am also well aware that babies have their own arrival schedules. Ideally I'd like mine to stay onboard as long as possible - he's measuring small because I've struggled to keep calories down throughout, but then again, the sooner he's out, the sooner I'll stop being sick, and hopefully be able to get the calories in that I need in order to sustain breast feeding.

Shelley I also think that Florence is a beautiful name. Beautiful at every age I reckon too.

I am looking forward to a day of not feeling like a zombie - 8 hours sleep last night which is the best in AGES. Very grateful that my body has given me a lovely rest Smile

esme80 · 02/07/2013 10:05

Congrats vinegar and totally!

I remember the MW at my antenatal class w DS saying only 5% of babies are born on their due date. Number stuck in my head! My due date tomorrow, not fancying my chances. Had period like pains during the night, and was sick this morning, but then everything stopped. Am slightly worried at the thought of being induced. Not the induction itself, but going over. My DS was born at 39+5 and weighed 9lbs1, scared of huuuge baby! And this heat wave next week doesnt sound fun. Sorry for long whinge, getting fed up!

SlouchingPanda · 02/07/2013 10:08

Oh, Shelley that's the last thing you need when you're feeling a bit blue. Florence is an excellent name. I like your grandad's understated support though Grin.

Bad start to to day in the Panda house. I broke a coffee cup getting it out of the cupboard then the coffee machine went bang, zonked out and won't work. Trying to negotiate the 'troubleshooting' bit in the manual is like trying to repair an intergalactic spaceship using only a child's drawing to guide you. I get the feeling I wasn't destined to have a coffee today! Going to have a bath then go back for a second try..

Thinkingof4 · 02/07/2013 10:09

Congratulations vinegar lovely name too. I had a feeling you would be next!!
Just off for my sweep, but will catch up later
40weeks today!

Shelly I agree with everyone else- don't listen to your nan. I'm sure you look great!

I love my 'baby on board' badge- secretly wanted one for a while but never travel on the tube so no need... Dinky it's funny how people do notice the badge- no seat no my way in but got a seat on my way out Grin

Baking bread and drinking raspberry leaf tea- I'm happy!

dinkystinky · 02/07/2013 10:15

Waves, Slouching - glad you both got better sleep last night. Slouching - hope you get your coffee fix soon - you may need to go out to get it though to keep your blood pressure down!

OP posts:
Silver15 · 02/07/2013 10:28

Thanks Cheek.

Shelley I'm hoping that this sickness results into something.
Regarding your nan's comments, I empathise with you. I had pretty mean comments made about my DS2 when I had him from my sister-in-law. I was very hurt so became very protective of him.

I believe I get emotionally fragile post birth so this time I'm going to try and not accept visitors in the first week just to give me time to recover and enjoy my baby without worrying about people's comments.

MarieKL · 02/07/2013 10:36

Vingear congratulations, and what a lovely name.

Shelley I adore the name Florence. It's my nan's first name and she's amazing. I hope your nipples feel less sore soon, and sympathy to everyone else suffering too.

Dinky sounds like quite a list to get through. I hope the warden turns up soon.

Slouching no coffee and a baby on the way! Good luck with getting it fixed.

Esme I'm feed up too. Now one day officially overdue and other than having a show yesterday after my sweep it appears baby has no intention of making an appearance anytime soon!

Yay for those who got a good nights sleep last night, and hello to Ama. I'm not on Facebook so it's lovely to hear from you. Dinky is also doing a great job of keeping us all updated on Facebook arrivals. Unfortunately I think that means Dinky you'll have to be the last to give birth so you can continue to keep us all updated Smile

Right, off to get through all my jobs before DS comes back from preschool. Good luck to Thinking and everyone else having sweeps today.

shelley72 · 02/07/2013 11:46

Midwife just been, things go from bad to worse at mo. baby has lost 9% birth weight now and may have to be admitted tomorrow if things don't improve. All ok in other ways though. She just wants to sleep and isn't that interested in feeding. Have tried changing positions, tickling feet, stripping her off - still won't feed. Scared as I've never had a problem feeding and this is one more thing I'm failing at.

oh and my scar IS tethered and so the overhang will never go she said. The pain is probably just where she was wedged in a bit. it's shallow I know and not as important as having a lovely baby but I hated my body before pregnancy and things will look even worse from now in.

Going to stop posting I think as this is supposed to be a happy thread and I'm bringing it down

shelley72 · 02/07/2013 11:48

Oh and my Nan is lovely really, just doesn't always realise how things come across!

Andrea75 · 02/07/2013 11:49

On day five of ten of being confined at home with ds2 post-op. It's going ok but he's watching a lot of telly!! Glad baby is staying in for now but heatwave next week not a fun thought. Dd was born on hottest day of year in 07 i think but it's always baking on maternity unit so it was ok. Did get a fan provided.

Apparently our local maternity unit on stand-by for Kate in case she is visiting her parents when she goes into labour...not sure how true that is. I was really hoping for water birth on new MLU. If royalty use the unit they'd probably close the unit to everyone else. Oh well it's unlikely to happen. Couldn't Will just use a helicopter and fly her back to London?!

Thinkingof4 · 02/07/2013 11:53

Thanks Marie I'm back now, had 2 sweeps, first from mw (ouch) then student (less ouch) but baby is now engaged and cervix very favourable so she was really hopeful things will get going. Did your mw tell you bishops score? Mine is 9 which is good apparently!! When I had a successful sweep last time it took about 48 hours or so, so don't feel too despondent yet!
Btw things are looking a bit more promising for shiv and Oliver post op for anyone who hasn't seen her last update on the other thread Smile
slouching hope the coffee machine sorts itself out, I hate trying to understand instruction manuals

shelley Florence is lovely, I know a wee Florence who is 3 and adorable. She's known as loli. Hope the boobs are feeling better soon. The first few days are always tough but you will get there Flowers

dinky what will we do after your bean arrives, you are super efficient at updating! (and many other things by the sound of it!)

cheese sounds like your are in domestic bliss, enjoy!

esme and silver both sound quite promising too!

tom hope your wee one is better soon

Well sweep about an hour or so ago and not really feeling anything yet so I think I'll do a final batch cook so my freezer will be prepared and ready!!
Pick up the boys later in afternoon- wonder if this will be my last school run while heavily pregnant!

Thinkingof4 · 02/07/2013 11:55

Cross post shelley ((hugs))

VinegarDrinker · 02/07/2013 11:57

shelley Don't even think about stopping posting! I'd be happy to move to a postnatal thread though if others are? Sorry to hear about the weight loss and threat of admission, can't think of any other tips off the top of my head but I'm sure MNers on the BFing board could.

OhGood · 02/07/2013 12:04

all these babies! congrats to all of you and dinky thanks for keeping the liust updated!

Cheeseandbread · 02/07/2013 12:13

Thinking fingers crossed things get moving soon!

Shelley babies do lose weight at the beginning don't they? It sounds like the MW is on top of things. I hope feeding is easier soon for you. Please don't feel you have to go and post elsewhere- you belong to this group! It is also really interesting as I know sore nipples can be an issue but this being baby number 1 I've no idea about how soon this happens. So thank you for sharing xx

evelynj · 02/07/2013 12:24

Wow, this thread has had a busy day today!

Congrats vinegar, that's lovely & well done for sticking to your guns. And Shelley-Florence is top of our list for this lo, I totally adore it, just can't wait for her to come now! Don't worry about losing weight-my DS lost 20% odd-had jaundice & was lazy-if theres any jaundice put her in a bright window asit can make them really tired.

Also, sadly there will be more than ample fat anywhere I need to put the injection but appreciate so many people saying it's not too bad, will not stress about that bit for now then.

It's pouring with rain here & so depressing but I need to go to town & get child benefit & tax credit forms while DS is at grandparents. I went to b&m this morn after vets & got a fake little Mongolian rug thing for £5.99. If anyone's interests they are a great texture to place newborns on for photoshoots, (google some images to see what I mean).

Plumber has just arrived to hopefully finish the workmen stuff, yay!

Time for lunch then donning waterproofs before heading to town.....Starting to get jealous of all these little ones ;)

IcingTheCake · 02/07/2013 12:54

Oh Shelley please don't think you shouldn't post on here Sad you are more than welcome, we can't all have good things to say all the time, we're here to support you when you want it xx

Silver hope the sickness means something is happening for you, most people say its early labour, but ive been feeling nauseous on/off since Friday and not had anything yet Sad think I'm an odd exception though!

Thanks for all the advice on the tummy bug yesterday, I seem to be okay, feeling a little more sick today but haven't been sick, or had any toilet trouble, so think I might have dodged that one :)

Had my whooping cough jab today, don't have a sore arm yet or feel under the weather, so Fx that I've been lucky with it :)

VinegarDrinker · 02/07/2013 13:09

Thinking FX for your sweep doing something... You have reminded me to call my MW and cancel mine!

Just waiting for hearing check then we will be off home, hooray!

Was a bit touch and go about whether they wanted to keep me in as I lost 500ml which is the cut of for PPH technically and I had a big PPH last time. Afraid to say I burst into tears when they mentioned staying in and immediately texted my friends who work here and Lo and behold after a Hb check I am being allowed home Blush Feel a bit like a foot-stomping diva but I really just want to be at home.

dinkystinky · 02/07/2013 13:12

Shelley - we've all been through so much together over the past 9 months and the support the group has given each other has been wonderful - you don't get to leave the group and lose that support network just because you've now had a baby. We're all here for you and anyone else who needs a big hug and someone to talk to. And fwiw, it sounds like MW is taking a cautious approach re dd2 - though the weight loss should bring you lots more support and help with the suspected tongue tie. And re your scar - there's no guarantee it will be an unsightly overhang - our bodies change so much over the years so may well be much better than you fear. Hugs and lots of virtual choccie biscuits coming in your direction.

Thinking - sounds promising re the sweep. Don't worry - will still be on here and fb updating, especially when stuck at home with Bean.

Parking permit has finally arrived - hurrah! Now waiting for a computer bod to come fix our printer - less dire than Slouchings defective coffee machine. Ds2 currently making a cup of raspberry leaf tea for me (without the boiling water) - so cute!!
