New thread as we appear to be talking a fair bit!

Lets hope we've all given birth by the end of this one :-)

Babybeann - my 3 yo sleeps through the baby in the night. I did wake up to discover he'd climbed in bed next to me and fallen back to sleep one night though Grin DH had to put him back to bed! Equally the 6yo slept through the 3yo when he was first home. I don't think there's cause for worry there Smile

Steffanoid · 17/06/2013 13:51

am feeling some weird pressure when im moving about, feels like things are really low down if that makes sense, im hoping when I get to the docs tomorrow for the sweep it might help and tge spicy curry I just ate too, the eviction notice has been served!

AmIGoingMad · 17/06/2013 13:58

Welcome giro!

Rreow that was very well put! And great tips- thanks!

Babybeann- I'm concerned about sleep for DS too when this little miss comes along. He's still waking once a night on average at the moment anyway but am hoping that all the nighttime noise won't be too much for him. Am generally panicking a bit about how he'll cope with another little person needing us and how I'll cope with two after paternity leave ends if I'm honest!

AmIGoingMad · 17/06/2013 13:59

Oo fingers crossed stef!Smile

rrreow · 17/06/2013 14:25

DS1 sleeps through the crying. However he does seem a bit more emotionally needy since DS2 arrived and sometimes now wakes up in the night calling out for us & needing resettling, whereas he slept through before. I think it's only natural though, big adjustment for him, and hopefully he'll start sleeping through again soon.

Sunbeam18 · 17/06/2013 14:31

No signs at all of anything impending here, and due date is tomorrow

pinkapples · 17/06/2013 14:41

Someone mentioned using a nipple shield I've just bought one but how do I use it? Nipples are v sore and flat have expressed a few drops to soften them

Also what does the break milk look like when its come in? I can't decide if mines in or not? Breasts. Feel heavy but don't know if that's the nipple problem or the boob

Steffanoid · 17/06/2013 15:12

oh dear my mother is now very worried, just had a load more of my show felt a bit funny at tge garden centre, mum hightailed it home with me, thought id wet myself, just more show I think, a lot of it! mums gone very pale and jeeps looking at me weird, she doesn't appreciate me laughing and is convinced my waters are gone, oh has told me to stop picking on her,
I dont think it's anything, just a bit crampy

RueDeWakening · 17/06/2013 15:29

Pink if your boobs have gone hard and bigger then I'd say your milk is in :) it just looks like semi- or skimmed milk tbh, then as LO feeds it gets fattier (the fat sticks inside you to start with, but as the milk flows it kind of forces the fatty bits out too). Re nipple shields, ideally wash it and sterilise it, then place it over your nipple so that it's right in the middle of the pointy bit (iyswim), latch LO on and see what happens. I used them a lot with my previous 2, and have used them on and off this time for a break when things hurt too much. I like the avent ones fwiw.

Also if you're cracked/bleeding then get some lansinoh, apply it after every feed so that no scabs form - scabs can block the milk flowing, and LO will just suck them off anyway (OUCH!) but the lansinoh stops the scab forming but still lets you heal. You don't have to remove it before feeding, so it's nice and easy to use.

Olimoss · 17/06/2013 15:51

Definitely another rec for dried apricots from me. Ate 3-4 every morning for 5 days or so after, pooed easy every time.

Also big yes for the dummy at our place. Finding Joe only wants it to settle, doesn't suck it to get to sleep, spits it out before he actually falls to sleep. Also helps strengthen those sucking and swallowing muscles.

Finally we don't feed Joe to sleep - he wakes, then we feed as he wakes hungry, change him, have a little p,lay and then settle him to sleep again. I felt it a bit of a slippery slope, for me, to feed him to sleep.

He's def going through a growth spurt though, feeding like a demon every 3hrs. Bye bye to our nice regular 4-hardly feeds!

pinkapples · 17/06/2013 15:51

I've got some lansinoh and have been using that but scabs still forming Sadshe's feeding off the bleeding on at the moment she was screaming have a carton of formula that is in a syringe as I nearly caved but she wouldn't take it

Anyone not on the breast but expressing into bottles? Any ideas whether I could do this for a couple of days to heal nipples?

Hello ladies, thought I would join in the fun. Due today...sweep tommorow. Good luck to you Steff. Oh how I would love a "show" Getting lots of pressure also.

Olimoss · 17/06/2013 16:01

Pinkapples - I express all my breastmilk. It's not comfortable but I think prob way less painful than early breast feeding.

MrsBri · 17/06/2013 16:24

Good luck Steff :-)

I'm just back from the midwife, Baby B is 1/5 and pushing down hard! Ouchy.

Booked for a sweep a week tomorrow at 40+5. Here's hoping I don't need it!

How exciting steffanoid!! Good luck! X

forgetmenots · 17/06/2013 16:33

Good luck steff! And fingers crossed for no sweep for you MrsBri.

Pinkapples I'm expressing all my milk at the moment (I did try a breast feed earlier and it wasn't quite as bad now they have healed slightly), I basically express after each feed and top up with Aptamil (usually I don't need much formula).

Thanks everyone for being supportive about the bf issue. As I said on my other thread I really didn't expect it to me an emotive issue for me, I've always been quite matter of fact about feeding... But it's become something else and the advice on here was great.

Hawkmoth · 17/06/2013 16:45

Good luck Steff!

curiousgeorgie · 17/06/2013 16:55
