Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
jennimoo · 27/06/2013 12:55

I don't think mine responds to noises etc, just a prod and DH trying to feel the kicks of course!

PurplePoppySeed · 27/06/2013 16:39

I've jug caught up properly and Joskar you're in a wheelchair!Shock I hope you're ok and this isn't for the rest of your pregnancy! Thanks

I'm currently on a ferry to the Isle of Man, making the most of our last opportunity to use the no children lounge with free drinks - think I've just about managed to consume my £12 worth of drinks to make up for the price... Sadly I don't think we're going to be lucky enough to have the weather you had Fl0 seems to be a bog standard Manx weekend in store :(

MrsMangoBiscuit · 27/06/2013 17:05

I finally found the right person to complain to, and she was very helpful. I did stress that there's not one person that's caused it, but I think it's more a lack of funding and resources.

Bump only seems to respond to DD. If bump is awake and DD talks to her, she kicks, if she sings she goes crazy! I swear she's trying to dance! DD is very proud.Grin

Readytosettle · 27/06/2013 18:03

Mooster I have 2-3 cups of tea a day and a glass of coke...I do have a very active baby though, hadn't even considered the caffeine impact! Ah well, I'm well within safe limits :-)

MammaGnomes · 27/06/2013 18:08

I've been totally relaxed on the caffeine front, I craved coke in the early staged when I was really poorly with sickness so I had what ever my body allowed and now I drink about 3 cups of coffee a day. Wouldn't have touched the stuff before I got pregnant but again it's what my body is asking for so I gave in.

SGJ · 27/06/2013 18:22

I have a cup of caffeinated coffee at work each day, so 3 cups a week, but all tea at home is decaf as I honestly can't tell the difference! I sometimes have coke but honestly I'd rather ingest my caffeine allowance via chocolate!!

JammyTummy · 27/06/2013 18:28

I generally have a 'real' latte every morning but all my tea and coffee at home is decaf, so I drink quite a lot of it. I think I've generally been very relaxed with having whatever I fancied during this pregnancy. I've had cheese, I've had pâté (very little of it, but still), I've even had sushi. I think that as long as you're not being silly/ irresponsible with it (I mean I would never go eating a suspect egg even when I wasn't pregnant!) all is ok in moderation.

Joskar · 27/06/2013 18:30

Jammy My bump is the same. Responds to sugar (fruit or sweeties) but not a lot else. My DH also has the "hand of authority" and baba instantly goes quiet when he tries to feel the kicks. Here's hoping that trick continues when baba is born!

Purple the wheelchair is only necessary in public and if I'm going to be doing lots of moving about or following a long car journey. I can usually manage round the house as long as I can rest and I don't move too quickly. It will be for the rest of pregnancy so I don't think there will be too many public appearances. I'm really not kidding when I go on about folk getting their SPD checked out!

Today I went to get my WC jab. I can't drive anymore so DH took time off his work to take me on the 30 mile round trip. When I arrived she kept me waiting in her room (with her appointment book up on the screen so I could see all of the appointment details of every patient for the rest of the day Shock) for half an hour. Then she came back through and admitted that she didn't have any vaccine and I would have to come back another time. I've spent the time since returning in loads of pain because I really can't be doing with movement. Sort of angry, sort of tearful, sort of hysterical, definitely shattered.

kimjayne · 27/06/2013 18:36

I read on the NHS website that arount 200mg of caffiene a day is fine. Theres around 60 or 70 in a mug of tea so 2 or 3 cups of tea a day are fine. I went right off Tea until the sickness eased off at 13 weeks. After that I drank mainly drank Jasmin tea for a month coz the thought of normal tea turned my tummy still. However, since 20 weeks ive 100% needed my caffiene fix each day. Smile

Cant believe next week is july! Mat leave is just around the corner Shock

We have a temp starting tomorrow whos gonna hrlp cover some of my job. Think my boss is starting to panic. eeek

Dorita75 · 27/06/2013 18:45

I had my wc jab today too, after 28wk mw appointment. The nurse who did the jab asked if I'd had it explained by the mw, err no, she doesn't tend to give info out unless I ask. Good job we have tinterweb and mumsnet for getting our info! I asked if she'd be there for the birth and she said no (I was quite relieved to be honest) but will visit the next day. She's nice enough, it just feels like she's done the job for ages and is a bit lazy about things.

Good to read what someone wrote about movements, mw said the 10 movements in a day thing, so I've been counting, but I'd much rather go with whatever is normal for me, which is lots of movement in evenings and mornings, with the odd small one a few times during the day.

Well done mrsmango so proud of you!!

juniper9 · 27/06/2013 18:49

I've caught a stinking cold too, and today's sports day has nearly finished me off. Been on my feet for 5 hours in the sun. Hadnt realised how dehydrated I was until I had a cup of water and couldn't stop. Sun burnt now too, and lying in bed.

frog is the 4d scan worth it? I had an echocardiogram last week and she did a sneaky peak at my baby, but it was a similar type of ultrasound to the 12 week scan so quite hard to work out. I could see it trying to suck its thumb but missing its mouth, though Hmm

TripleRock · 27/06/2013 19:06

Anyone not having the WC vaccine at all?

frogchops · 27/06/2013 21:30

Triple no one has mentioned it to me so I'm not sure if I'm supposed to just know about it and request it? Mw didn't mention it yday.

4d scan was soooo worth it, it cost £89 an was classed as a mini scan. It was supposed to involve 10-15mins scan time but I was scanned for about 25 mins while she got me to cough/jiggle etc to get good pics. It came with a 25 min DVD of the whole thing, a print out of his measurements, two printed photos and about 45 pics on a disc to print later. Well worth my £90. I loved it.

frogchops · 27/06/2013 21:34

Have watched my DVD back and its amazing to see he's got dps nose, my chin etc.... At one point we paused it and he's just the absolute double of DP. Even he said so, and was quite chuffed that baby might come out looking like daddy.
He frowned and pulle faces, played with the cord lots, and smiled (we had a pic printed of this bit!)

Joskar · 27/06/2013 21:47

Apparently most babies are born looking like daddy but grow up to look more like mummy. It's nature's way of reassuring daddy that he hasn't been duped!

frogchops · 27/06/2013 21:53

Oh, ok Grin 30 years on I still look like my daddy!

badguider · 27/06/2013 22:01

I am about 90% my dad's side of the family physically... which is why I'm not really paying any attention to my mum's pregnancies/labours in terms of predicting mine. I do not have any of my mum's physical characteristics.

JammyTummy · 27/06/2013 23:21

My little brother is literally a carbon copy of my dad,
It's quite frightening! If I didn't know better I'd say him and my mum weren't related.

Kittenkatzen · 28/06/2013 08:44

joskar Angry at your mw, was she even apologetic at all?

On the caffeine front I'm having one proper cup of tea on the train in the mornings and that pretty much it - sometimes I'll have a coffee mod afternoon if I'm really tired but mostly I don't bother.

Baby kitten seems to have a pretty set movement pattern, being super wriggly first thing, after lunch and after dinner with just the odd roll or kick in between. He/she is quite responsive to touch too and will aim kicks at my/DH's fingers on the bump a lot of the time Smile

Awww frog that's so lovely about the scan, might you post a pic on the fb page?

RunningBear78 · 28/06/2013 09:30

joskar very Angry on your behalf! You'd have thought they'd take a bit of extra care with someone who is in such agony moving around. Does seem to be quite a bit of slackness and disorganisation amongst the mw generally.

I spoke to the mw at the antenatal clinic and she said the nationwide aim was for 100% coverage of preggo women with whooping cough, due to a few babies dying from it last year before they got their own vaccination at 3 months. I think I had whooping cough last year. It was very very horrible. I can not imagine what it must be like for a child, so I would definately ask about it if it hasn't been discussed.

I used to drink about 5+ cups of tea a day, but am on about 1 a week now! I totally went off hot drinks in the first Tri and haven't really got back into them. Now cammomile with honey is often the only appealing thing. When I do have real tea or coffee it sends babybear bananas, which is quite funny. I haven't managed to get him to react to anything particular, although he was particularly active watching behind the candelabra ... although that could have been the super sugary ice cream I had at half time. My mum was desperate to feel him wriggle, but I think he could sense the paediatrician approach and hid Grin

herewego2 · 28/06/2013 09:36

Hello everyone, not looked on here for a bit as I've been on holiday in the Lakes. Just a word of advice: start taking your green notes everywhere. I was in a car accident (scary scary) and we're all ok, apart from being very shaky and wondering when I'll feel normal. Following routine procedure the ambulance men wanted to take my 4 year old and I to be thoroughly checked over. One of the things they really needed to know was my blood type and really needed to see it from my hospital notes, not from my shaken up memory. This meant my time in the hospital was much longer than it needed to be and I really felt like I hadn't helped myself if there had of been a real emergency. Goodness, I knew I loved my son, husband and unborn more than the world but that really made me realise quite how much. My husband just lay next to me the night after shaking and twitching at the the thought of what might have been. Thank God for seat belts, child car seats, well made cars and the NHS XXXXX

badguider · 28/06/2013 09:50

Oh how scary herewego!

I'm guessing they need to know if you are Rh-ve as then you'd need Anti-D. I am in Scotland and I've been sent a wee card to keep in my wallet about my Rh-ve status.... it means even if I don't have my notes on me I will have that with my blood group. Not sure you have these in England? (mine is issued by the Scottish blood tranfusion service who are the ones who do our blood typing from the MW's samples).

fl0b0t · 28/06/2013 09:51

Purple Will keep fingers crossed for an ounce of sunshine- enjoy the shopping in Ramsey!

Jammy my baby is pretty responsive to being poked! If I cross my arms and lean them on the bump you can guarantee that I'll get kicked for my troubles! :)

Getting annoying SPD pain which seems to go after a little bit of walking, heartburn and nausea. Today (SORRY, TMI!) I was working in bed this morning (avoiding builders) and felt a bit... wet and it turns out I'd had a lot of discharge :-S Internet tells me that as long as there's no blood or anything and baby is still moving, then it's fine.... looks like i'm off to buy some liners! Eek.

Joskar · 28/06/2013 10:02

herewego2 So scary! How awful for you. Hope you are all ok now and not having too many horrible memories. Flowers

frog put up a picture! I want to see!

RunningBear78 · 28/06/2013 10:25

herewego Eek, how scary, glad you are all ok.

I've been trying to investigate car seats, and thought the Which? website would be good, but now I'm even more confused. Off to visit a kiddicare this weekend, so I really want to get this sorted. We have an old car, so no Isofix stuff. I thought we might be able to get something good an safe for around 100 squid, but now I'm not sure Confused

Have you guys bought a seat yet?
