AmIGoingMad · 19/05/2013 08:43

And madamej I'm sure you'll be fine! Grin

MadameJ · 19/05/2013 08:59

Thanks AmI x

Cycle, I dont think your mad at all, we were desperate for our DD to be more awake for feeds but we were in a similar situation to you, infact she was discharged from hospital still 50% tube fed, but she did wake up and turned into a complete boob monster who fed at least every 2 hours until she was 11 months old so it will happen!! X

Steffanoid · 19/05/2013 09:12

cycle, thinking of yiu and Nye and hoping these lights do their job sharpish! make sure you're taking care if you too.

my bump has been wonky since the first growth spurt, sticks out loads on the right where his back is, was a bit confused as to what was actually on the left as convinced whole baby was on right so sonographer showed us last week and baby was caught in tge act of punching me!

not looking forward to the 4 hr class today and tour of labour ward cause im so freaking sore, my fingers really hurt and back too after strong bh yesterday, this is gonna be fun Sad

MrsBri · 19/05/2013 09:33

Morning all!

Long day at antenatal yesterday and I was exhausted on my return, so did bugger all!

I'm glad we went. DH found it particularly useful as obviously he hasn't been on here getting info! I found it helpful too, learning about what happens and what also happens if it isn't straight forward, as well as pain relief. Don't really fancy the opiate options, it has to be said.

Sam, I hope your little one continues to improve and that you're being well supported.

Cycle, I hope little Nye gets better soon too and he can go home again.

Pink, that's a bugger re the fridge. Can it be fixed or is it new fridge time? :-/

Steff, I hope the tour goes well. No idea how they're making it 4 hours though! Hope you can cope with it all.

Arlandria, how was the baby shower?

AmI, good luck with the parents! And my bump goes wonky depending on where baby is lying. He's showing no signs of dropping though, so I think it is just general position related.

With regard to snacks while in labour, we were told yesterday we HAVE to eat (though not big meals) else our muscles won't get fed and labour will stop. I can't remember who was asking about eating related to EMCS, but it's fine.

Sorry if I missed people out, it's not easy on my phone to scroll back.

redwellybluewelly · 19/05/2013 09:33

cycle our DD was tube fed in NICU, came home mixed fed as my supply was rubbish after all the stress and her dwmand was higher. Three weeks after discharge she was fully breastfed and carried on to 27months. Given she had no suck and was in a coma for eight days no one ever expected her to be breastfed but she was one determined baby.

That said it nearly broke me and had I been less crazy and just accepted the mix feeding I fel sure that first three months would have been much easier. I did eventually get good support from Breastfeeding Support Network but support in the hospital was shocking.

Hope Nye is home again soon, I remember wanting DD to cry, she was so silent.

Maybe we all need a post lunchtime nap, crazy toddler has ruined my oie in.

pinkapples · 19/05/2013 10:01

Wow mrsbri very impressed I'm also on my phone and cannot scroll back so I always miss half the conversations as I can only remember a few :)
My fridge is integrated into my unit so I've got a guy coming out to look at it today about 4 so hopefully he can sort it maybe just needs to re hang the door but ive not got a clue an hubby is a bit useless unless its to do with cars or motorbikes Hmm

Hope cycle and nye get a better day today fingers crossed for you and for sams little one sounds like the threads been through it a bit with all these deliveries

Wow to the labour tours I've only had a little one it was informative but me and dh are in the 'she's come out one way or another' camp so don't as such have a birth plan anyone else like this?

My parents live 4 miles away so pop in and out regular don't think I could have them stay tho Grin good luck x hope they help you out

MrsBri · 19/05/2013 10:05

Pink, yes to no real birth plan. Like you we are very much the baby will be coming out one way or another so we are quite pragmatic about the technical details. My midwife friend is visiting next weekend though so she will help me do a not too detailed plan! :-)

Good luck with the fridge man!

forgetmenots · 19/05/2013 10:46

Just found you all :) will spend this morning catching up with a cuppa!

Getting lots of what I think are BH, though could e baby stretching? Everything feels tight and I feel like I need to 'blow' so I've assumed they are BH.

Getting really impatient now and a bit worried about birth plans etc (not that I think anything will go according to plan, quite the opposite!). - really not sure I can do this without pain relief, not keen on morphine/pethidine but wanted to be mobile :(

Steffanoid · 19/05/2013 10:59

the only thing thats on my birth plan is that my oh is there, I told them I dont care about anything else, my big sisters was pretty much ignored/nothing went how she wanted it to and I know because of my depression that if things dont go according to 'the masterplan' then it will cause me to have an anxiety attack, no plan = no way for that to happen, they keep trying to get me to write things on it and I think thats part of todays class too so im gonna pretty much ignore that bit,

I have only just properly woken up, this is the good thing about ohs little brother visiting, I dont think he's noticed I've been asleep still, really need it after yesterday I ache all over, my fingers are huge and sore, my hips hurt and so does bump, so im staying here with rubbish on the tv for a bit longer.

did the door literally just fall off pink? if so they should just be able to put it back on im sure

have a relaxing Sunday everyone !

pinkbear82 · 19/05/2013 11:12

sending lots of hugs to the little ones and families that need it - fingers crossed you all get good days and a step closer to getting Home.

woken up being sick this morning, feel exhausted and while being sick no control over anything else Sad just as I felt up to date with the washing!

my birth plan is pretty much as long as me and bubs are ok then roll with what ever. think mum is up to speed with this now, she had quite a tough time with me so thinks open options are good.

ordered a few snack type things in with the online shop yesterday, so can add them in to bag. Mum will have to take all her own food as has several allergies and has to carry an epi pen with her. she doesn't travel light!!

hope every one has a good Sunday x

arlandria666 · 19/05/2013 12:22

My baby shower was lovely x x never been to one so didn't know what to expect but i really enjoyed it and baby got really spoilt now just need to work out where to put it all!
Didn't have a great night last nite had pains from about 11til 3 in the morning on and off i just didn't know at what point you'd know what was practice and what was real? Still unsure! Just got a lot of lower back pain today but washed all the new born stuff and its drying in the lovely weather!
My birth plan is non existent but want to write something on it about birth partners cos just certain i don't want my mother in law there lol!
Just hope all the new mummys and babies are okay x

redwellybluewelly · 19/05/2013 12:24

I think one way to look at birth plans is to consider what you do not want rather than attemp to list explicity what you do.

For example I didn't want baby washed weighed and measured before being given to me but I was happy for a managed third stage and the Vit K injection. (Although it did go badly wrong and those were quite frankly the least of my worries!) This time I have much less control over the operation as such but its good to be able to say that if baby is ok I'd like to have them skin to skin straight away and help to latch on, or that if baby isn't ok and taken to NICU I want my DH to stay with the baby and I would rather they are given my expressed milk than formula.

Ultimately the aim is a healthy mum and healthy baby after delivery, but if you have strong opinions on pethidine or the Vit K injections for example then best to write them down. Or if you've opted not to breastfeed then put that down as the MWs can sometimes push that hard as the best option. A good friend had a great labour and delivery but ended up very upset on the post natal ward as MWs just didn't listen to her preferred option for feeding.

Sams4lo · 19/05/2013 13:52

Hi all :)

Thank you so much for all your kind words and support :) it's been a trying few days to say the least! Baby is back under the lights but has been very lethargic so had an argument with the nurse as she wants to put my expressed milk for top ups in a bottle - so I hit the roof and told her no way as my baby's have allergies and he's already reacted to the hypoallergenic yucky formula! And they are not interfering with breast feeding him!

With all 5 labours I never had a birth plan because with dc1 I wanted a water birth at the same hospital my mum deliver my brother and sister, then I developed gestational diabetes and all my plan was thrown out! My dh knows me so well he spoke for me and knew what I wanted every step of the way, which was all I needed in the end :)

Jojo3737 · 19/05/2013 13:53

Hi All,

New to MN and to this thread. My due date is 2nd July but I have gestational diabetes so won't be allowed to go over so I think I will have him in June - not long now!!

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Jo

Afternoon all. Sounds like some very anxious mummy's on here. My thoughts are with you Cycle and Sams.

Personally today I feel wiped out. I feel like I've eaten a 7 course Christmas dinner- there just isn't space anymore to breathe or eat. I'm on a strictly one meal in, one meal out policy at the moment but even that doesnt appear to be helping. Yawned my head off through church today but think they were all understanding.

Wrt birth plans mine pretty much says do what you need to do to get baby out healthy. Oh and give it a wipe before handing it over.

Olimoss · 19/05/2013 14:17

Thinking of you all, whether your new little ones (make sure those hospitals look after you both in the ways YOU want) and those of you at home feeling a bit bleurgh.

Tired as doing last minute jobs before Mum arrives from Oz this afternoon, all good, although truly am convinced no more room in my gut for any more growth. 38 weeks tomorrow.

Gotta run, stuff to do, but stay centred and happy. We will all have our babies soon - holy amazing shitballs!

redwellybluewelly · 19/05/2013 14:24

Rue have you managed to escape yet?

DontmindifIdo · 19/05/2013 14:29

My parents are here. Can I just say "aaahhhhhh!!!!!"

(oh ds, don't you want your sandwich? Here, have a biscuit. Oh ds, do you want some chocolate while mummy makes lunch? Oh ds, shall we go play in the garden watering the plants in your new shoes? Etc)

I have made them 5 cups of tea each already, been told that "most woman let standards drop round the house at this stage, you shouldn't feel bad about it" (I cleaned this morning, the house is clean) then I've been told (after no offers of help to make or clear lunch) that I should make sure I rest as "it's our grandchild your growing!"

If I kill them, do you think a good brief would say I was provoked?!?

rrreow · 19/05/2013 14:30

Hi jojo welcome to the thread. Sorry to hear you have GD, although one upside of being induced is that in theory you know when your baby will arrive.

I woke up at 3am yelling in pain until I remembered to breathe at which point it subsided a bit. It's some kind of weird nerve pain on the right hand side under my bump at the crease where the leg meets the bump. I think it's worse when the baby is in a certain position or when I have BH. Anyone else had this? Then I proceeded to have 'contractions' every 20 minutes or so (they probably were painful BH though) but luckily they subsided after about 4.30am. Am not quite ready to have the baby yet, we've got a builder in to board out the loft this coming week and am not allowed a homebirth until Saturday when I'll be 37w!

Olimoss · 19/05/2013 14:31

DontMind - def! My Ma is pretty cool, I'm lucky, but I don't think it matters one way or the other, your parents will always irritate!

MrsBri · 19/05/2013 14:57

Dontmind, if you do go for the violence option, make sure you do a proper job and kill them as provocation is ONLY a defence you can use for murder! :-) Sorry they're being awkward for you, it's so frustrating and I bet they'd have been pissed off if someone did similar when you were a child.

Hi Jojo, welcome. Good luck for the next few weeks :-)

redwellybluewelly · 19/05/2013 15:42

Hrumph my earlier reply got lost dontmind I hope you have a stash of chocolate somewhere!

I have seriously messed up, I'm only really having one week of maternity leave before baby and realised today that I've booked in carpentry work to be done so house will be full of banging and crashing! Not to mention the mess!

Plus bump has moved up (always been very low) and I can't drive our car, no bend left in me. Going to make next few weeks very very tricky.

AlohaMama · 19/05/2013 16:46

Welcome jojo.

Dontmind how long are they staying? Sounds like a nightmare. Particularly as they are your parents so you can't just hand over all responsibility to oh.

Doesn't sound like a very relaxing maternity leave redwelly. Hope they will be finished quickly.

Mrsbri it was me asking about snacks. I might ask my ob about it tomorrow. Though hopefully this labour will be so quick and easy I won't have time to worry about being hungry!

MrsBri · 19/05/2013 16:49

Ah, it may be different for you then, as this was NHS advice :-/

Fingers crossed for a nice short labour :-)
