hi everyone!

after what should have been a routine anc, I was kept in overnight till friday afternoon for raised bp....you can imagine my joy at not having anything with me and having to stay in hospital Grin

and the real downside is we can't go to cyprus next week Sad

liquid - so sorry about your lo - and so glad all is ok now - it must have been worrying and frightening for you - great that the nurses are angels though

calvemjoe - i'm small for dates, but estimated foetal weight is over what he should be and all his measurements are in upper percentile, so you really mustn't worry!

Although if you look at me you wouldn't say i'm small for dates Blush

marls - that mexico statistic is amazing! 80% c-section! and to think that the press over here is going mad about a 20% rate!

anyway, off to have a read of my helios kit - should have taken it into hospital to have a read there.

Only plus point about the hospital experience (as a first timer) was that i got to see how long it can be from induction to anything happening - one poor lady was in for at least 36 hours with no progress from being induced...

Lol I'm always up around 5, just naturally wake up at that time but this morning was up at 4.20!! Not impressed because I did'nt get to sleep until midnight, then spent the night fidgeting lol.
At least I can get housework done then Grin

I woke this morning to the realisation that I will need to buy breast pads a little earlier too this around much to DH's amusement Blush!

Wish I had the problem of waking up early - can't seem to get enough sleep at the moment, I'm so tired even lifting DS or climbing the stairs feels like a marathon :( Just wish I could find some energy somewhere! Stupidly weeded garden this morning too and been paying for it since but it was so sunny and nice... what's a girl to do??

Has anyone got a 3 wheeler pushchair? I'm thinking about getting an off roader as an alternantive to my maclaren which is useless on anything but tarmac (though it's great for shopping and being light) - any reccomendations? (or 'stay aways' would be helpful too) - thanks :)

Lysettes, sorry to hear about your bp. Mine's low so maybee we could arrange to swap a bit and have 2 normal ones Grin

Liquidclocks, I'm tired all the time too, had 10 hours sleep the other night, then 2 hours in the morning and 2 in the afternoon and was still in bed by 9! ds keeps saying 'mummy's lame' bless his. As for 3 wheelers, i love mine but kept on getting punctures in the blow up wheels so spent more time using the stroller whilst waiting for dh to repair it. Having said that I'm getting a phil and teds now with blow up wheels so I can't have learnt!

Lysettes, sorry your BP was a problem. The thought of induction really scared me last time especially the hanging around in hospital bit. I was almost pathological about bouncing, walking and raspberry tea. Not sure what worked (if anything) but DS was a due date baby! Smile Don't forget to claim on your holiday insurance!

Liquidclocks, we also have the Phil&Teds. An all terrain 3-wheeler is essential where we live and the P&T obviously has the essential doubles kit for two. The difference in ease is amazing on the heathland or on dirt tracks but it has no obvious advantages (that I've found) on the pavements so if you're never going to go off road with it I wouldn't bother. As Calvemjoe says, the tyres need pumped up occasionally and they can be prone to punctures but if you get a puncture repair kit from Halfords, it's easy!

HK, DS was up at 5.30 this morning! He had a bad night and ended up in with us and I was rudely Grin awoken by him tugging at me and shouting, 'up mama, up!' He then asked or 'doos' (juice) and I saw how flushed he was. It was then that I realised that I'd forgotten to take his grobag off and he'd slept in that and under the duvet all night! Blush Poor dehydrated baby! Grin Blush

Thanks for all the good advice about clothes and knickers, have gone for tesco shorts briefs - feel good so far, and H&M shorts and cropped trousers which are SO comfy and haven't fallen down. Again thanks everyone for stopping me from wasting any more money, but I think I shall now be replacing my earlier purchases.

Hey all,

Not that I want to rub it in or anything but it's 20 degrees lower here than in Madrid!! Both DD & I are feeling slightly bemused......:o Packed her off to bed in winter pjs again...how depressing when we've slept all week without any covers!! I now also see why when they reach 2 you have to get their own seats on planes...it was so hard, especially with big tummy, but we at least had the seat next to us blocked off so she managed to sit there for a while. It was so lovely to have her all to myself for a week & now the thought of going back to work & leaving her at nursery breaks my heart...sorry if this sounds so dramatic but think I've got a case of holiday & pregnancy blues!!!!! :o :o

Home Alone today, DH has taken DS to the Natural History Museum - meant to be finishing off some work which is on a deadline - then I think I might have to do a bit of baby preparation shopping ... Can Ihave some shopping wisdom plse from anyone who has used / bought /looked at these, here's my list (this is for no 2 by the way, not an essentials list, just adding to the mountain of stuff we already have!):

  • Phil & Ted's 3W buggy double version (cheapest so far on kiddicare - but only in orange)
  • Stokke highchair (can only find 1 on-line stockist @ £99.00, otherwise £109 locally)
  • baby Bjorn bouncer (but it doesn't seem to have any handles for you to pick it up ... @ £59.99, kiddicare)

...... er, that's it for the moment, but let me know your thoughts!!

Muminaquandry - twoleftfeet.co.uk are doing the phil and teds with free postage for £339 but including the toddler seat and storm cover too. Also, wouldn't worry about handles on a bouncer - babies quickly become too heavy for them to be useful so you'll use the frame to pick it up instead - just make sure you get one with a robust frame! - Have fun!

hi everyone!

thanks for the kind thoughts - it's more frustrating than anything else the high b pressure, becuase i feel fine - apart from being shattered this week and last, but apparently last two weeks is a real putting o nweight growth phase, so maybe that's it???

i was totally gutted on friday about cancelling it (and we lost about £60 in total so only £10 more than the insurance excess), but we are going to do a british holiday (at start of june, yes we are mad!), and go off to wiltshire, play some golf and relax. Any ideas on lovely small villages of b&bs to stay in anyone?

calvemjoe - def swap some with you - the sooner the better!

welcome ez

muminaquandry - we are thinking about the baby bjorn bouncer, and have heard the same from other mums - don't worry about the lack of handle - you use the frame soon enough anyway. and some friends of ours have just started using the P&T and rave about it.

the big news is that we bought a car yesterday!!! we are now part of a stereotypical married couple, baby on way, bought an audi estate.... dh will have to wait till he's having a mid life crisis for a fast car Grin

anyway, think that's enough, off to dodge the rain clouds and try and get out of the house for a bit!

Welcome Ez!

Cori - your holiday sounds lovley and I'm very jealous of the heat! Own plane seats are great - ds always fees so grown up and tends to behave fabulously (mind you we've only ever done pretty short flights with him!).

My baby bouncer didn't have handles, but I did spend a lot of time moving it from room to room. I'm going to borrow a second one this time so I can have an upstairs and downstairs one.

There's a highchair similar to the Stokke on Tchibo this week (or maybe it was last - sorry!) that's getting great reviews from MNers.

I'd avoid TwoLeftFeet though; if you search archives here there are LOADS of people who've had rubbish experience of them. One last week again where someone was charged for something they didn't order. Getting through to their customer services seems to be a nightmare.

We're off on hliday tonight for 2 weeks - Inverness and St Andrews with an overnight in Aberdeen in between. We're going self-catering and I have a long list of child friendly places to go and things to do. I'm really looking forward to it. Ds has just learnt to pedal his bike (with stabilisers) so we may need to fit that into the boot. Reckon we'll have to buy a roof box when baby arrives - no idea where we'll put the wee lamb and his/her clobber.

HI all

Hope evryones enjoyed their BH w/e? Even though it's been (another) slightly damp one.
Lysettes - sorry to hear about your stay in hospital - not the best way to spend the evening is it!! Hope you're feeling better though,
Homemama - don't worry you are not the only one to wake up to a very 'flushed' babe in the morning!
Liquid - wasn't sure if you were talking about a double buggy or single - I have opted for the Out n about nipper - it's a side by side one - so wider than the P&T's , but if you use it for when you go shopping (which I do), you get a lot more storage underneath which you don't get with the P&T's. I got mine off ebay - it's 2nd hand, but in pristine condition - I already have 2 pushchairs I couldn't justify another new one.
Well DH had to drive down to Heathrow yesteday to pick up his brothr who's moving back here from New York, so me and DS had a day out with my mum and dad up in Derbyshire, which was great fun!

Hi mabel and others wh imparted wisdom on the 3 wheeler issue - I think I'm going for a phil and teds as I really don't think I'm going to need a double much beyond a year but still really want an off roader. Also today, FINAL decision on which car seat to go for - finally got DH and his car to mothercare and - Hooray! - the creatis fits in his car!! No contest between that and the graco, little one's going to be so much more comfortable in the car than DS was. Does mean I have to have the baby seat in the front in my car but since I'll be driving it'll be DH in the back (...lets see how he likes it for a change!) :o

Well, MIL and FIL arrive tomorrow to stay till sunday... wish me luck!

Morning everyone!
LC, the P&T does have its limitations but the fact that it can swap between a single and a double is really what swung it for us. As for car seats, we're having a bit of a debate at the moment. We have isofix in the car but the isofix bases are so expensive. DH is annoyed saying that the whole point of isofix should be that the car seat should click in and out of the chassis. What's the point in calling it an isofix carseat if you need a convertor base? The britax one was £120 for the seat + £85 for the base!!! If anyone knows anywhere where I can get it (or the isofix maxi cosi) cheaper, let me know.

Lol Compo at 6mths without! DH said to me over the w/e, 'Why is it I'm getting less sex now than when I was a teenager yet I live with a woman I really fancy and I'm happier than I've ever been?' We concluded that having kids at the baby/toddler stage puts a huge strain on a marriage and that surviving it still feeling the same about each other is a challenge. Oh well, two under two really will be make or break! Grin

Re baby bjorn bouncer. Two sets of friends have told us they bought it after seeing how it converts to a little chair and how useful that would be. However, both have said that their toddlers have never sat in it even when prompted. So keep in mind that the cute 3yr old sitting in it reading a book may not replicate real life.Grin

Welcome, Ezridax! Smile

muminaquandary · 30/05/2006 09:57

Thanks for the tips on the bjorn bouncer - I had a feeling that photo was a fake Grin!!

Also we have isofix but maybe we will just use the old Britax rock a tot we have if you need to buy yet again MORE stuff to make it work!!

As for sex, I am trying to remind myself that DH needs a bit of attention every now and again, and that maybe once a week isn't soooo bad (despite the appalling backache the day after!!)
