I am glad that loads of you are planning to just have your DH/DP there. I haven't yet said anything to my Mum, although I did make a comment the other day about how she can be knitting in the waiting room whilst I am giving birth and then, when DH comes out and tells her whether it is a boy or a girl, she can finish the garment off with a bow or an anchor.

Both my family and DH's family live about the same distance from the hospital. We'll be staying with my parents in the run up to our due date so they'll no doubt know when I am in labour and will head into the hospital too. Also, my Dad works for the ambulance service and is a first responder so I am hoping he'll be able to whizz me in to the hospital should labour come on suddenly!

I think I will need to make a few more comments about how it is just going to be me and DH at the actual birth so as not to snub anyone on the day. Like you Roofio, I feel like DH and I are starting our own little family and so just we should be there. Then everyone else can meet our baby at the same time.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 22/04/2013 11:27

clapham I did the same thing as you popped into a baby shop to pick up some jeans for ds but they didnt have any. When I asked about new boys stuff the lady said I already had all the boys stuff and nothing new coming until August but there was so much gorgeous girls stuff it made me want a girl this time! Had to kick myself back into being sensible as wanting a girl so that I can indulge my own shopping habit is just stupid.
Baby yoga starts again today so we are going to that and then later I shall go to the antenatal class too- a whole day of yoga I shall be so calm and bendy by tonight Grin

Shootingstarsandcomets · 22/04/2013 11:29

Oh and no way will my mother or mil be in the room when going birth!
I still need to decide on vbac or another section, anyone else in this position? I think I want vbac but I'm scared!

Wickedgirl · 22/04/2013 11:49

Just me and dh in my labour room. It is too private and personal to share with anyone else. My dd (almost 15) would love to be there but that's a step too far in becoming a loving big sister.

I am now 15+5 and have stopped being sick. My appetite is returning too. I have out on 3lbs so far so now weigh 9stone 3lb. How much weight has everyone else out on?

TheFalconsmistress · 22/04/2013 12:05

1 stone at 17+2 weeks eek hoping it slows down a bit now wickedgirl

JellyCurls · 22/04/2013 12:16

4lb at 17wks 0 days.

roxvox · 22/04/2013 12:19

I haven't put on any weight (16+5) - should I be concerned?! It's particularly suprising when I think about all the food I have been eating.

Smitten1981 · 22/04/2013 12:19

1lb at 13w 5 days. (Was more last week).

My mum was really upset when I said I didn't want her at the birth. But she's very dramatic, she'd make it worse for sure.

roofio87 · 22/04/2013 12:29

no idea about weight as our scales are broken!! don't want to replace them as I really don't feel like I've put anything on and don't want to be proved wrong Haha!! going to ask mw to weigh me tomorrow to see!!

cazboldy · 22/04/2013 12:30

congrats on Willow falcon Smile

Im 16 wks today and mw on thurs

JellyCurls · 22/04/2013 12:39

roxvox everyone different I put on less than 1st each pregnancy where as my SIL put on over 4st each time. As long as you eating healthily and feel fine

roxvox · 22/04/2013 12:46

Brilliant, thanks JellyCurls. I did read the other day that I should soon start to get the hunger pangs where you feel constantly hungry, so I am sure that will help me along my way Smile

TheFalconsmistress · 22/04/2013 12:48

Thanks caz the scan pic is on my profile Grin I put 2st on with oliver so i expect around the same again 1 st of it was baby weight and the other stone dropped off fairly quick (6 months) xx

BowlFullofJelly · 22/04/2013 12:49

17 weeks today and about 8lbs I think - not too worried as I put on 10lbs by 9 weeks last time, but then only 2 stone over the whole pregnancy. Really do need to knock the Haribo on the head though Blush

I must admit it never occurred to me to have anyone other than DP at the birth. I very much like to be left alone when I am sick or in pain, and so the thought of having well meaning relatives fussing about just stresses me out.

Congrats on the little girl Falcon - willow is very pretty. Were they sure sure its a girl - i would imagine it would be quite easy to miss the boy bits at an early scan. I think I will be dubious all the way through if they tell me it's a girl. Last one the midwife said 'well I can't tell you definitively, but there is his penis and there are his testicles - so felt pretty comfortable with with the accuracy Grin

roofio87 · 22/04/2013 12:54

bowlfull depends on the baby's position. lets just say my sis had one pic from her 20 week scan in which my niece was showing quite clearly to the whole world that she was a girl, no mistaking it!! Wink

Claphammama · 22/04/2013 12:55

+1 to jelly. Everyone is different and, to me, weight gain during pregnancy seems to follow some strange logic. I'm only size 8 and 5'4'' but put on 3 stones with DS1. I wasn't even eating more than before pregnancy - didn't really need to. And no sweets, no cravings. Yet, I put on more than my friends. But I also lost it very quickly going back to my original size. Now I've already put on about 6-7lb at just over 13 weeks but not stressing. I figure this is how I am when pregnant. Hoping it will disappear quickly like it did last time! Although I must say my appetite is greater this time (even when I felt queasy I wanted to eat!!) and I have occasional cravings. I sometimes crave sweet things although I didn't used to like sweets at all. According to old wives' tales it could be a girl then!

BowlFullofJelly · 22/04/2013 12:55

That's not very ladylike Wink

roofio87 · 22/04/2013 12:57

I know she kept the picture to embarrass her in later life!!

BowlFullofJelly · 22/04/2013 13:06

Just one of the many joys of parenthood roofio, being able to humiliate your children as your parents humiliated you Smile

takingachance · 22/04/2013 13:11

I know I have put weight on, but as we don't have scales either, I've no idea how much.

As others have said, I'm not worrying too much as last time I lost it all fairly swiftly.

Mind you, last time my weight loss was helped by the fact that I had to go dairy free as the dairy I was eating affected dd through breast milk!!

TheFalconsmistress · 22/04/2013 13:17

They just said they would be very surprised if it was a boy they can never by 100% they put it in terms of hamburger and hotdog we saw a clear "hamburger" a few times the labia are bright white so you see white line dark line white line iyswim :)

BowlFullofJelly · 22/04/2013 13:24

You sonographer referred to 'hamburger' and 'hotdog'? That's made me snigger in an unattractive way.

I didn't know that though, assumed it was just the absence of the 'hotdog' snort that indicated a girl - though now you have said that I realise that was a daft assumption. Ooohh, can't wait to find out what I'm having!!!

TheFalconsmistress · 22/04/2013 13:27

made my laugh and cringe a bit too bowlfull but it did help in a way xx

cherrycherry41 · 22/04/2013 13:46

Just come back from midwife this morning, am 16+1. Checked everything- all fine. Then she asks if i want to hear the heartbeat on the doppler so i jump at the chance. 15 minutes of searching, no heartbeat. Very, very worried. Could be one of a few reasons. Its too early on, baby is in an awkward position or the heart has infact stopped beating...
Shes booked me in for next monday to try again. Crossing everything possible on whats about to be the longest week ever... Sad

TheFalconsmistress · 22/04/2013 13:50

cherry I am sure its just a bit early it took a fair amount of time for mw to find hb for me a 16 weeks too. I you don't want to wait the week you might get a deal on a private scan? thinking of you xxx
