Oh notired.
Do you have any family that could help? Is DS in nursery? If yes you could maybe see if you can book in some extra days?

Fairydogmother · 08/04/2013 09:56

misstweed thats exactly how i feel - just like i did before i lost weight! i am worried about weight gain but its so hard to what is going on as fat and what is just baby weight

MissTweed · 08/04/2013 10:09

Are you monitoring what you are eating fairy?? I am (as if I don't I can easily gain a stone in a month!!) I used to go to ww but for obvious reasons I've been booted out Hmm. I now use 'myfitnesspal' website/app as its brilliant for keeping an eye on what I'm eating. It calculates calories as well as protein etc to make sure you're eating a balanced diet. You can also set it for gaining weight (as well as losing) and I've got it set to 'gain 1lb a week' I attempt to stick to this so I don't have to face losing stones after the birth. The app is also free

Fairydogmother · 08/04/2013 10:24

i've used myfitness for months but havent really bothered so much this last few weeks. i was only on 1300 calories for months so my eating regime is nearly programmed to only have that much. i'm allowing myself the odd pudding or regular calorie bread sometimes.

i have only put on about half a kilo so far

OneLittleToddleTerror · 08/04/2013 10:29

Morning all. I had a busy day yesterday. We went to the Harry Potter studio yesterday. And it was great because my ms seems to have gone again. I even managed to drank a mug of butterbeer than then ate a whole bowl of ramen at wagamama for lunch. To those still suffering from it. It definitely gets better, for me, from about 10 weeks, way before the first trimester ends. Tiredfeet, so sorry to hear. I'm just constantly very tired only now. Usually by 9pm I just felt ready to hide under the duvet. I hope this will go away too by the end of the first trimester.

And I agree with those who say it's ridiculous how we no longer fit into our jeans, but have nothing to show for it. It's so tricky to dress for now. I had a panic this morning that I would no longer fit into my swimsuit. (I tried it on and I could just squeeze in if I really really try). We were off for 2 weeks for waterbabies but it's starting again this week. What do people do with swimwear for now? Should I just go and get a two piece for the time being? (Will go to a shop that allows me to buy a bigger bottom half). I assume I'll look sort of ridiculous in a maternity swimsuit isn't it?

JBrd · 08/04/2013 10:35

Fairy and MissT I'm with you on the having lost lots and loathe to put it back on trend. I lost 2.5st on WW since last August, and am not sure yet how to manage. I'm still with WW, will not leave until I've had my 12w scan (but obviously not telling them I'm pg). I'm ony very loosely counting at the moment, thinking of switching to the weight maintenance rather than loss programme... I put on over 3st with DS, most of it in the first trimester! But eating was the only thing that kept the ms at bay. Doing OK at the moment, as I'm not feeling sick, but already slipping (way too much cake at the weekend!) back into old habits of snacking too much. I'll have a look at the app you mentioned!

Tired Sorry to hear that your DH is going away, how annoying! Do you have any friends close by that could help with DS? I had a very similar situation last year, and I was amazed how my friends jumped to the rescue to help out. People are a lot kinder than you give them credit for, but you have to ask.

7+1 today, and the midwife finally rang last night to arrange the booking appointment! Got it next week. It's all starting to feel a bit more real now...

TiredFeet · 08/04/2013 10:37

He is trying to sort his parents for a day and my sister is coming for a day but they donr live locally. Thing is I know he doesn't have to go, he just wants to go Angry

harverina · 08/04/2013 10:45

I'm not the lightest anyway but have recently lost 2 stone so don't want to regain it all. I ate loads during my first pregnancy especially in the first trimester and gained a total of 28lbs which I lost within about 3 weeks as lost of it was baby/placenta/fluid. You sweat lots of it away in the first couple of weeks and also if you breast-feed then this helps too. Ideally I'd like to gain a similar amount this time. Second trimester is easier for eating usually so for those of you worried about eating rubbish just now - if if helps with how you are feeling then try to relax a bit as this phase won't last much longer.

harverina · 08/04/2013 10:48

Onelittle are your boobs bigger too? Of so a size bigger swimming costume might be ok just now. Later on you an either buy a two price which you can but separately to alter sizes or maternity - I just bough a bigger size and this did for a while last time Grin

Saundy · 08/04/2013 10:53

Oh dear Tired how long is he away for? That's really annoying is its not essential, are you sure?

I think the thing that is worrying me is that I've hardly had any appetite but the weight is still going on so what will happen when I start to eat normally again! I've never been overweight & the thought of it scares me. My sisters all announced diets too when they found out I was pg (they've always been slightly overweight) I'm pretty sure they're all eagerly anticipating a tubbier me!!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 08/04/2013 10:55

harverina I wish it's my boobs that are noticeably bigger! My bottom seems to have grown a size in the last two weeks Sad. I'm glad the bigger size suited you for a while last time. I think I will just get a size bigger in a two piece style and hope for the best. And like you say I could mix and match with bigger bottoms and tops when I need it. I know I will look ridiculous in a maternity swimsuit because I do now with my maternity jeans. But I'm using big long jerseys to hide the bump flap. You can't really do that swimming in the pool isn't it?

OneLittleToddleTerror · 08/04/2013 11:02

saudy don't worry about the weight if you have never struggled before. The weight gain you see is probably the amniotic fluid. I found it just melted away last time for me. And I was probably older than you (was 35 for my last pregnancy). I was quite confident with the weight so I never got normal clothes a size bigger, because I reckon I would never wear then again. And I was right to go from my normal size straight to maternity wear. I left the hospital in my normal size 8 dress with leggings. And I think I was back in my normal jeans by week 6-8. (Though I shrunk a size on my jeans from breastfeeding and didn't gain it back until I stopped).

Fairydogmother · 08/04/2013 11:05

i've got pains in my stomach - well down there lol

its mostly on the left tho the sonographer said i had a small cyst on the left so i wonder if its from that?

really uncomfortable rather than sharp pains and my lower back is hurting too

Sad
Saundy · 08/04/2013 11:06

Wow I didn't know that was possible One! Did you just eat normally then during the pregnancy? That's reassuring.

Saundy · 08/04/2013 11:08

Sounds similar to what I get Fairy it's an ache rather than a sharp pain & goes all across my abdomen when it hits as well as my sides, my back & sometimes my thigh.

Well, I really don't want to scare people, but the 'weight will all drop off as soon as you've given birth' story is a total myth.
It might happen for some people, but definitely not for all. I lost a stone with birth, but that was it, nothing else shifted. The only way I managed to finally loose the rest of my baby weight is by doing Weight Watchers.

But having said that, don't worry too much about putting on weight in pregnancy, if you have to eat you have to eat! I made that conscious decision last time that I'd rather put on weight than feel and be sick all the time.
I'd say enjoy the pregnancy as much as possible, without worrying too much about weight - there'll be plenty of time to sort this out afterwards! If it's any consolation, everyone from my antenatal group did get back to their original weight eventually, it's just that some of us had to make more of a conscious effort than others.

Saundy · 08/04/2013 11:10

500?! Good grief that's a lot. Is BF really knackering??

getoffthecoffeetable · 08/04/2013 11:17

BFing isn't knackering but it makes you really thirsty - and hungry too!
Mothercare do a plain black one piece maternity swimsuit which was fine for me. Just buy in your normal size and it'll stretch to accommodate you.

Slippysnow · 08/04/2013 11:17

Anyone who is interested Asos have a 50% sale on. Including some (albeit not many) maternity clothes

berrybomb · 08/04/2013 11:32

onelittle, that's exactly what I was hoping for, but thought it was just a dream - it's given me real hope! I've put on 3 lbs already, but not overly worried. My belly starting popping out of my jeans before there was any weight gain. I go up and down 3-4 pounds in a usual month anyway!!

Tired - hope you're starting to feel better, and that you can get the support you need when you're out later.

I've been getting some real tummy cramps, but I think it's just trapped wind (tmi!!?). My MS has pretty much gone now (I'm 10 weeks today), so I'm hoping that's me done.

Saundy I gained less than 10kg last time, and was just eating normally. Physically, I didn't look bigger other than on the bump. I got comments I didn't look pregnant when people just see my top half.

I don't find BF knackering. But it's definitely very thirsty work. I have to keep drinking a lot of water. I think suffolk is right about the 500 calories a day just from feeding.

The dresses I wore immediately after birth were wrap and floaty ones. It was a Spring birth so perfect weather for those kind of clothes. (Unlike this year). Leggings are very accomodating too. Jeans are harder to fit so took a wee bit longer obviously. Like now, I can still fit into all my dressings and leggings/tights, but no longer fit into my trousers Sad.

Slippysnow thanks. I'm thinking of getting some more soon. I'm half a year out from last time so

harverina · 08/04/2013 11:38

Yes it can be exhausting saundy but its manageable too. I bf dd for 2.5 years! I admit it can be hard during the night getting up for the 4th time while dh snored next to me! Not his fault but I felt very angry towards him!!! I feel that overall it was worth it. I'm being realistic this time - my aim is to bf for as long as possible but I will not allow myself to feel guilty of it does not work out. Having a toddler means I can't go to bed with dc2 and feed feed feed and I can't be glued to the couch for hours on end either. However I am happy to bf in public so I anticipate lots of trips to soft play! Dd self weaned and I would like dc2 to have that option too but I haven open mind Grin

I too also made the decision to not worry about weight gain too much - for me it did come off pretty fast after birth and I do have problems with weight generally (being overweight). As I said it did literally fall off me in the 3 weeks after birth. I felt bloody fantastic (except my cs wound was open but that's a different story)

The dangerous time is when baby starts weaning - you don't bf as much but I kept eating the same crap as I was eating while exclusively bf. I was thinner than before I was pregnant for the first 6 months after having dd then she started weaning and my weight ballooned. I will not be making that mistake again as I felt great after having her.

Tired good you are ok and you and dh reach a solution. In your circumstances I would be asking dh to stay at home too.

Someone mentioned that they should be feeling grateful to be pregnant instead of moaning about ms etc - don't worry we all feel the same. I feel so blessed to be pregnant again and can't wait for dc 2 to come along but I amp among lots too...can you imagine if the men were pregnant? They would be in bed for 9 months!! We may moan but we soldier on Grin

Fairydogmother · 08/04/2013 11:39

its feels very similar to period pain - like that awful pressure that goes around your lower tummy and across your back.

very uncomfortable especially as i want to lie down and i'm stuck in work
