Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Diege · 03/04/2013 20:53

Sorry meant to read 'between 10 weeks and 10 weeks and 6 days'!

Frenelder · 03/04/2013 20:57

Hi I'm new here too & only just pregnant I think about 6 weeks I have my 1st midwife appointment on 12th April & can't wait.
I'm alway thirsty currently & didn't know it coul be pregnacy related ill mention it to the midwife next week.

SpanishLady · 03/04/2013 21:03

Get off - I was induced by the drip after my waters broke 78 hrs prior but I didn't go into labour. It was ok for the first 3 hours and managed on the tens machine then MW decided to up my dose and within about 30 mins I was having contractions one on top of each other. It was like being in the sea and going under a wave and before I could get to my feet and take a breath another wave comes crashing down - totally lost it!

Dream & lucky sorry you are both having such a worrying time

I really don't mind what I have though guess I might choose a girl if I could but then would be easier so to speak to have another boy and maybe nicer for my son. If I get to 20 weeks we are going to find out this time. I think because I was so sure from about 5 months I was having a boy (the belligerence of my baby was so masculine! We would play a song to my bump and dh would put his iPhone on my stomach and the baby could punch or kick it off!) and as I had an emcs I don't feel I need the surprise.

getoffthecoffeetable · 03/04/2013 21:29

spanish that sounds awful. Def not like the pessary induction that I had.

Am downing Dandelion and Burdock like it's going out of fashion. Feels like I'm ten again!

Fairydogmother · 03/04/2013 21:34

Hi and welcome frenelder!

I've my booking in at the hospital on Tuesday - I actually forgot about it being so close! I need to make up my mind about doing a promotion board tho on 15 April. Done no prep and my mind just isn't on it as there's so much else in my brain! Not sure what to do...

We'd both like a girl slightly more than a boy tbh but we will be delighted with a healthy baby of whatever sex!

EcoHippyMum · 03/04/2013 21:39

Diege Thanks for that, I shal give them a call tomorrow morning, no harm in trying!

Hi Frenelder, I think a lot of women are thirstier during pregnancy. My main thing at the moment is soup, particularly minestrone! I made my own massive version of it tonight with lots of grains too so hopefully healthier!

harverina · 03/04/2013 21:42

I'm honestly don't mind what sex out baby is. We have one girl and would be happy with a boy or a girl. Dh says he has no preference but I wonder if he secretly wants a boy? Who knows he claims not to.

I can feel the heartburn kicking in again. I'm so tired but have got tidying up to do and should really work on my essay for an hour or two. I'm starting to get really really stressed out Hmm about it. Have 9 days to do it but have dd's birthday on Friday, family coming on Saturday and dh away next week. In getting so stressed out!!! I could sit and do it now I know I'm just so tired, feeling sick and just don't know if I can start at this time after being at work all day Hmm

Sorry to moan, I need to get some perspective.

Frenelder · 03/04/2013 21:51

Hi Fairygidmother,
What's a promotion board? Good luck with your appointment hope all goes well.

Thanks for the thought about soup eccoHippyMum I think I'll make a few up this week end for the freezer I just can't get enough liquid at the mo

Fairydogmother · 03/04/2013 21:56

It's 3 people firing questions at you and deciding if you should get promoted! And it's scaring the crap out of me as its for 2 grades higher so I've not got a great chance!

But if I did manage to scrape it the pay rise would be about £14,000 extra!

Frenelder · 03/04/2013 22:00

Haha I thought it was something to do with your hospital appointment - dur! Silly me

EcoHippyMum · 03/04/2013 22:00

Wow fairydogmother that's a big pay jump! Go for it!

Frenelder I got some mixed grains and pasta from the local supermarket, was less than £2 and I made about 3 litres! I liked it - a bit too much as I ate it so quickly I e now burned my tongue!!! Feel like I should be talking with my tongue lolling out lol.

riverflow · 03/04/2013 22:16

Hi Frenelder I am just over 6 weeks too and also really really thirsty. Welcome. I have first midwife appointment on 17th April and first scan on 15th May.

Just been reading all the early scan chat above, booked myself one for next week, as am now scared that I'm no longer pregnant. (Had MC a few months ago) I can see how I could possibly get carried away with the anxiety of thinking I'm not pregnant anymore. I'm trying to control myself and think an early scan is a way for me to do that. Although as my husband says that will only make me feel better for a short while before I start to panic again. Maybe I just need to get over it! Enjoy it. It's a special time and I should enjoy it! Oh who knows!

I'll talk myself around in circles until I eventually go to bed with another two pints of water! and probably dream about it.

louby86 · 03/04/2013 22:24

Just cried my eyes out at OBEM. Never made me cry until I had DS!

riverflow · 03/04/2013 22:26

Anyone taking Pregnacare or Pregnacare Max? My husband (in a bit for brownie points) came home with the more expensive Pregncare Max for me today, which seems like it might be a bit of a marketing ploy as its got most of the same stuff in it as the Pregnacare normal one.

Fairydogmother · 03/04/2013 22:28

I had a horrible allergic reaction to pregnacare! Just watch there's nothing in any vitamin tablet that you shouldn't have as I'm not allowed iodine and most have that!

I take sanatogen mother to be and they're pretty cheap

louby86 · 03/04/2013 22:37

I've got allergies so I just take folic acid with vitamin d

Fairydogmother · 03/04/2013 22:42

Forgot to say that melon and pineapple really helped me when I was mega thirsty. Cranberry juice too. The fruit seemed to help more than just water for some reason.

I've been a greedy pig today - 2 walnut whips, a hot cross bun and a massive cheese and lettuce baguette. O and 2 caramel bunnies Confused

whoopsies

harverina · 03/04/2013 23:11

I take pregnacare original - it was on a 3 for 2 on boots so it was fairly good value at the time. Up until I found out I was pregnant I just used a cheap asda folic acid but we need vitamin d too so that's why I changed.

Just ate 4 baby bels and they too rarely helped my heartburn and nausea but can feel it coming back. Is it possible that when I am more tired my other symptoms will be worse? I had great sleeps at the weekend And start of week and felt great. Nausea was barely there. It's back with a bang and have has hardly any sleep past 2 nights?

Welcome fren!

Fairy try and go for the promotion, no harm is there? And you just might get it! If it was hardly any money is say don't bother but it's a fair amount - if your successful will you also be entitled to better mat pay? I work for a local authority so my may pay is fairly good - 6 weeks at 90% then 33 weeks at 50%. I increased my hours last year partly because we wanted to buy a bigger house and partly because I knew it would help loads when I stop for mat leave.

louby86 · 03/04/2013 23:49

Harv - last time my sickness was loads worse if I was tired or had a late night. I'm pretty sure I'm feeling better this time because I do a job share rather than the 50 hours a week I was doing before with a massive commute. I think it's how our body tells us to slow down a bit, if we get the chance to that is Smile

MsFanackerPants · 04/04/2013 02:46

Haverina Aren't all local authority schemes the same.I get 11 weeks 90% then 13 at 50 plus SMP then just SMP. I was doing crafty sums today whilst trying to make sure nobody else could see what intranet page I had open. I won't have to go back full time until July 2014 based on accrued leave and KIT days.

Weeks are going so slow. I got my bfp at 3w4d and now it feels like forever until we can tell people. I am so excited to tell my grandmother and DPs grandpa. I bet they both cry, they're 86 and 93! My mum is planning baby gates for her house already.

I don't care if we have a boy or girl. Although a girl will mean we avoid having to tell people that no, we will not be circumscising our son. DP really wishes he hadn't been done and I'm not Jewish so we both don't see any need to do it. DP can explain why there isn't a bris though!

DP has accepted manflu isn't deadly although I have had hourly updates on snot and how is mouth feels weird. I shall remind him of all this when I'm in labour.Grin

OneLittleToddleTerror · 04/04/2013 04:24

fairy that's is a lot of pay rise! No wonder you are anxious about it when so much is at stake,

I take pregnacare original. Ocado does 3 for 2 as well. I found boots and them have the promotions at different times, so I buy from whoever have the discount atm.

I wish I have such good maternity pay. Only 18 weeks full pay then SMP. It would be so great to be on 50% till 39 weeks. But I don't work for a local authority, oh well.

And I am sure nausea is linked to tiredness. I always feel worse towards the end of the work day. I'm just so unproductive lately I am starting to feel guilty. And I hate this waking up at the middle of the night too. Seriously not helping. I went to bed at 9.30 last night because I slept so badly the night before. I bet I won't last till 10 tonight again. Us pregnant women are such a joy to be with aren't we?

harverina · 04/04/2013 06:55

Msfan now that you have said that....I shall double check today. I'm sure I got 33 weeks at half pay last time but thinking that's very generous so perhaps not! Will let you know/ so you work for an LA too? I am in Scotland.

MotherOfCleo · 04/04/2013 07:33

My company has no maternity package so I have to go buy the government smp rules......basically I will get bugger all maternity pay Sad

I have my booking in appointment this morning and my scan this evening, pleased and scared! Oh and Ive woken up feeling horribly sick! Anyone else have a snotty nose? Ive had mine for weeks now, no cold just snuffles Confused

MotherOfCleo · 04/04/2013 07:38

Just checked and I get 90% for a whopping 6 weeks, then down to £135 a week! Sucks big time! You ladies with good maternity are so lucky! Confused

getoffthecoffeetable · 04/04/2013 07:43

cleo I'm in the same boat as you if it makes you feel any better, only smp for me too. It's a pain but if you put some money away now it does tend to last, I found I didn't actually spend that much when I was on maternity last time.
I've had snuffles too, it's part of the pregnancy with me, it just gets steadily worse!
Good luck with your booking in and scan.
I've woken up feeling sick this morning and forced myself to have some toast, I do feel a bit better now I've eaten.
DH has tidied away my bands and can't remember where they are. Am less than amused and if I still feel ill later, I'll nip out and get another pair at lunchtime!
Had the weirdest dream last night that I was going on holiday to the jungle and I hadn't told anyone I was pregnant. I then had to pack while the taxi waited outside and I only had ten mins to do it in. Could only find scrappy inappropriate tops. I was really stressed when I woke up!
