QNinja

you seem familiar. Were you also on the Due Sept 2008 antenatal thread?
Olive2012 · 11/04/2013 14:29

Hi everyone and congratulations to you all! I just got a bfp last night (after the exhaustion tipped me off) and all feels very surreal at the moment!! This is our first and we were trying for about 6 months but as I have a history of endometriosis thought it would take a while. Am very excited but also quite nervous. I went to see the Gp today who referred me to the local NHs hospital but she said they wouldn't contact me for an antenatal appointment until I was 10 weeks (I'm currently 5) which I thought was quite strange. Is this normal, should I have an early scan?

yogafan · 11/04/2013 15:07

Happy birthday ninja and welcome olive

Not sure when you're meant to have first appointment, I'm seeing midwife (at gp surgery) at 8 weeks and hospital scan at 12 weeks. 10 weeks does sound like a long wait, do you know if it's for midwife or scan? If it is for midwife maybe ask to bring it forward a couple of weeks?

I've just told my best friend as she was with me at a hen do over the weekend, so helped me disguise the fact I wasn't drinking. Would like to tell my sister soon (and will have to in a couple if weeks at least as I'm hoping she'll look after DD for antenatal appointments...)

Have a good sick free day everyone! I was sick (proper vom) every day for about 7 months with DD - very relieved it hasn't hit me this time round. Yet...

QuietNinjaTardis · 11/04/2013 15:13

No queen, I don't think I was on mumsnet then.
Thanks yogafan

Olive2012 · 11/04/2013 15:32

Thanks yogafan and happy birthday ninja. It's for the booking appointment (inc scan) so perhaps that's why? One thing im already not looking forward to is the morning sickness/nausea!

I'm also planning on telling my best friend and sister - my mum like yours takingthestairs would get too excited!

QuietNinjaTardis · 11/04/2013 15:58

I've told loads of people already. My mum, sister, pil, bil and sils, 5 friends and dh has told his best mate. I'm terrible Grin

PistachioTruffle · 11/04/2013 16:09

I got two moulded tshirt bras without wires at primark yesterday for £6, as the wires on my normal bras were digging in and making the discomfort even worse! They feel very supportive and comfy, I doubt they'll last long as they're snug already but I can't complain for £6.

I've got the 'hungry but don't fancy anything' thing too.

LadyGranulomaFortesque · 11/04/2013 17:22

Congrats on your BFP Olive, and welcome :-)

Nausea wise I am surprised I am okay so far, although only five and a bit weeks. With my son I was sick as a dog from the week before BFP at four weeks to 22 weeks :-( It was bloody awful. Literally like a five month hangover and did make me delay DC2 for a while so I could forget about it enough.

With my first pregnancy, the only thing that would stop me feeling sick was cheesy garlic bread, cookie dough ice cream and sweeties. I put on four and a half stone! I lost three and a half, then put a half back on, so I am one stone up from before my first pregnancy. After I had DS I had a postpartum thyroid issue and the first two stones fell off. If i refrain from putting on too much weight this time and then get my temporary dodgy thyroid back I could be a supermodel by next January lol.

My appetite is also dead int he water by the way. I keep thinking I should eat some kind of crap but I really can't face it. I also don't think this stage will last long either.

Are those Primark bras any good for very ample bossoms, Pistachio? (we're talking F cup here blush)

QueenofWhispers · 11/04/2013 18:04

i want battered cod and caper filled tartar sauce....and steamed veg

weechops · 11/04/2013 18:27

Just had a bowl of cheerios for dinner as I couldnt face anything else. My fridge and cupboards are stocked full of food and I just didn't fancy any of it.

Oh and Happy Birthday Ninja !! :)

PistachioTruffle · 11/04/2013 18:31

Lady, I'm honestly not sure, I normally wear a 32D (or occasionally a 34C in some designs), and from what I can remember I think they only did them in a small range of sizes, I don't think I'll be able to buy any more if they get any bigger Hmm

I think M&S do something similar too, if that's an option?

F stands for Fabulous btw Grin

PistachioTruffle · 11/04/2013 18:32

Oh yeah, Happy Birthday Ninja!

Leonas · 11/04/2013 19:02

Happy birthday ninja! Gooseysgirl, I think I will tell my boss ASAP - he has only been the head got 3 weeks now so don't want to make things too awkward for him!
Anyone else just feelings a biter spacey? Feel kind of floaty and occasionally pukey but unfortunately eating seems to help! Have just lost over a stone at SlimmingWorld, have a feeling it won't take long to creep back on!

Leonas that sounds exactly how I feel. I almost feel like when you've been on a boat or train too long and you can still feel the movement afterwards. Makes me feel a little nauseous but not too bad. Only seems to affect me in afternoon/evening. Anyone else find this?

Happy birthday Ninja! Flowers

FluffyDucky · 11/04/2013 19:45

Olive, I am also 5 weeks and have my booking in appointment for when I will be 8 weeks at the GP surgery. I think it depends on where you live.

I was getting dressed this morning and was like, Oh HELLO GIRLS! Definitely fuller and a little bigger. One of my work tops is close fitting, taking it off was interesting lol

b0nker5Mum · 11/04/2013 19:59

Happy birthday ninja...

clare8allthepies · 11/04/2013 20:09

babyiwantabump · 11/04/2013 20:10

Hi everyone.
Congrats on all the new BFP.
I think I feel ok, not sick but a bit dizzy here and there. Im lucky to have never had morning sickness with older two so hooe I escape it again. I am tired though constantly. Im glad though id be panicking otherwise as I only miscarried 6 weeks ago.
I have no idea how pregnant I am as I haven't had a period since so who knows.

Feels a bit too good to be true, gonna take a clear blue digital over the weekend and see if it puts my mind at rest.

I will also be seeing a midwife late on. Because of he hospital ive chosen the community midwives wont see me as they don't refer to it so I have to get the gp to do the referal. I cant get a gp appointment for another two weeks so I could be about 7 weeks before the referal is even made so I dunno when ill see he midwives. Im gonna emphasise my nerves over the mc to the gp though and hopefully they will get me seen quickly.

As for telling people we have told my mum and dad and thats it. Not planning on telling anyone else any time soon. We are in an awkward situation though as DH sister (who is also a v good friend of mine) has just had an ectopic after a previous miscarriage at xmas. We have decided she should be the next to know but only when we think she can cope ok with the news- so we are quite prepared to keep it secret until about 15/16 weeks - I hope I can keep ot under wraps! Eek.

Hope everyone feeling rubbish feels better soon.

QuietNinjaTardis · 11/04/2013 21:35

Thanks for the happy birthdays guys, hope no one is feeling too sick. I've got some crackers by my bed in case I wake in the night see if that helps.
I hope you do get an appointment quickly iris, it mus be worrying when you've miscarried before. Got everything crossed for you x

Ganetgob · 12/04/2013 00:18

I'm sorry to hear that lots of people are having a rough time and feeling ill. I hope this passes quickly for you.

I still feel pretty much ok, I just have terrible wind (tmi) and I can't sleep - my mind just won't turn off the baby stuff!

Wishing you a happy and nausea-free Friday! Grin

yogafan · 12/04/2013 07:44

Welcome and congrats iris, hope you get an early appointment to reassure you.

OrbisNonSufficit · 12/04/2013 07:52

Happy birthday Ninja!
Hope the scan goes well clare
iris absolutely put on a performance re your mc, they can't just leave you hanging with no care in that situation.
baby speaking as someone who has more or less permanently erect nipples normally, padded bras are key - stops them rubbing so much, they can poke a little dent in the padding iyswim.

And I hope the nausea settles soon for just about everyone else. I'm 5+1 today (I think), convinced it's going to hit me too soon! I am finding that I wake up at 6am every day though, which is weird (normally 'as late as possible' is when I get up)- DH thinks it's because I'm having 1 cup of coffee a day not 5 and hence am actually sleeping properly. Who knows?
