Oooh forgot to say I was also asked to attend a gtt.
It was arranged at my booking in, they made that appt but forgot to add me to consultants diary Hmm
It's the day after my birthday (I think, must find letter) so we're booking a 3d scan for while we're there as a treat! They say private scans are done in the main ante-natal dept as the rooms are bigger so I'm guessing they just wheel the machines round?

Thanks for the advice ladies. I am stressing cos its the same community hv team that nearly sent a friend of mine off the deep end (she ia still on mega high anti deps) as they were so evil with her about her not bf. She really struggled with it and it made her ill so she stopped and they made her feel like a complete failure as a mum. With the anxiety i am already suffering and fears about not being able to bond etc it would proper tip me over the edge. I want to be able to try and bf but if it stress me out or i need my meds then i will ff. Just feel that it has to be better for me to be happy and healthy than stressed and ill. Has to make me a better mum?!

Abilee90 · 23/04/2013 21:05

Reading on thread that someone is having a hv visit before baby due. When i was pg with dd, i had to go for a meeting with social services as i had been in care. This was before she was born, trying to gage what type of parents me and dh were gonna be. Crazy huh? Report came back no concern and that was last we heard from them :/

Gtt had it once with dd at 28 weeks. Now got to have it again :/
Here they make you drink this thick substance. Blooming disgusting. And wait around hosp for 2 hrs. Mine is on 14th may. Bang on 28 weeks. Fun!!

Wee man gets hiccups here. Great fun.

25 weeks exactly xxx

MrsPennyapple · 23/04/2013 21:51

DP inflated my birthing / fitness ball thing for me and brought it to me in the living room. The dog thought it was for her, must have thought it was Christmas! :)

RugBugs · 23/04/2013 22:01

Aaargh I am seriously tired and achey but can't quite shift the urge to re-arrange our bedroom and put the old armchair in the corner on gumtree/eBay. If I could just persuade DP to do all the shifting while I dictate from the comfort of my pillows.... [wishing thinking emoticon]

My HV was fantastic, had the same one for both DS and DD and really hoping she is still around for this one. We don't get pre-birth visits in our area, though, because they are just so short staffed. My HV was actually the person who gave me "permission" to supplement DS' BFing with FFing when it became clear to everyone but me that the BFing wasn't giving him enough nutrition and he was losing weight. Until I had the advice from the HV, I was determined to persevere, but she made me see sense.

I am also very very lucky in that I don't have any real pain etc at the moment, but I have to say my bump is just massive! No heartburn yet, but am waiting for that to kick in. I had the most odd sensation on the way back from the football on Saturday though; I was sat in the car and just felt like I had to move my legs every 5 minutes. I was like a cat on hot bricks! I hadn't had much to drink though Foof as I hadn't wanted to use the facilities at the football ground more than absolutely necessary, so perhaps that was the reason?

I am also very very tired at the moment. I was put on iron tablets at 28 weeks with both previous pgs, so I suspect my iron levels might be low. Off to the supermarket tomorrow for some multivits with additional iron, and try and get a few early nights in.

I'm amazed at how common the GTT test is. I was told at booking in that I would need one because DD was 9lb 7oz which apparently is borderline for being classed as a "large" baby apparently, but then the MW decided against it because I had no other symptoms/risk factors. I am hoping that when she sees the size of the bump at 28 weeks (my next appt) she doesn't change her mind because it sounds yuck!

Woofers · 23/04/2013 22:15

Warning - selfish rant post

I feel sick. I've been sick straight after work. I hate it. I feel so ill. And if anyone else tells me how well I look il scream. I don't feel well and I have had enough of praying to the toilet gods.

Did I mention how sick I was feeling?!

ArrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused

Can you get injections to self administer? Tablets are really not working.

BabyHMummy · 23/04/2013 22:19

Awww woofers sending hugs

I dunno about send administer injections but my mate was given injections every couple of week at hospital to keep sickness under control. Will message her tomorrow and as what hey were if u want

Woofers · 23/04/2013 22:40

Yes please!!

BabyHMummy · 23/04/2013 22:47

No probs

IJustWoreMyTrenchcoat · 23/04/2013 23:15

Uhh MrsPennyapple, they could be hiccups! I do sometimes get lots all at once, like an attack of the hiccups. I just assumed they were little kicks from getting the odd isolated one. I have to say I find the wooshy/tumbly movement ones really strange! I had some today that felt really set back, so I couldn't feel them at the front at all.

Christelle2207 · 23/04/2013 23:41

So I had a bleed today, two small spots. Waited a couple of hours to see if any more (there wasn't) and then called triage at the hospital. Tbf they were very good, I shall not hesitate to call them again if I had a niggle. Anyway they said almost certainly nothing to worry about but to call back if significantly more and/ or any discomfort or pain. Fortunately nothing (yet)and I can feel Bean rumbling around this eve in his usual fashion.
Really freaked me out though. Anyone else had this?

Mrsd77 · 24/04/2013 06:38

Morning all. Got my GTT today. I'm already starving so I assume I will feel pretty grim by second blood test at 11.30. Tis lucozade here. I love the stuff so no worries there! Grin TBH, a morning off work reading a book sounds great at the moment!

Sorry you had a worrying day Christelle. I sometimes lurk in July thread as I am due on Aug 1st and seemingly a few ladies have had some concerns like yours in recent weeks. Glad you're getting a good standard of care. X

RuckAndRoll · 24/04/2013 08:19

Christelle sounds scary, glad the triage could advise you.

woofers that sounds horrible. Really hope someone can help you.

Mrsd Enjoy your morning with your book!

Got a horrible feeling I've got a lovely UTI but can't decide if I need to phone MW or GP. Guessing the GP but they like to play 'pass the patient' around here sometimes.

Baby is giving some really big kicks whilst I'm sat here Smile nice way to start the day.

RememberingMyPFEs · 24/04/2013 10:28

Foof thanks for the advice in the GTT and driving - I have to go home between the 2 appointments and can't eat til after the second so I'm a little unsure of what to do - it's only a 5 min drive but I might sit in the car with water and a book if I'm feeling rubbish... My appt is actually tomorrow not Fri - I will report back on how it is for those awaiting it...
woofers sorry you feel so crappy - hope you find a solution.

I am half way through my hypnobirthing classes and they're very good. I have a spare book now though (I'd already bought one) so if anyone is interested. PM me and I'll post you the new one out Thanks

Hope everyone else is doing ok. I'm wfh today then am on hol til next Thursday Grin it's my 40th on Sunday so I'm making the most of it and taking some time off to chill out... have 20 friends coming for BBQ on Saturday, so if it rains it's my fault - sorry!!

muddybloodypuddles · 24/04/2013 10:35

christelle fingers crossed it was just a one off - do you have placenta Previa at all? As this can cause some bleeding, otherwise it could be anything to do with the vagina / cervix. Glad it was only a couple of spots though and as long as you're not in pain and don't get any more bleeding sounds like one of those things... (not that I'm an expert of course!) - doesn't mean it's not scary though..

ruck - oh dear, you need to get that sorted asap - I would think gp would be better? Hope you're not in too much discomfort

mrsd - enjoy your gtt! Smile

woofers - poor you - hope you manage to get something sorted

I have also had some hiccups, also been getting kicks all over, including my bum, feels like she's trying to break through the wrong bit lol, feels most disconcerting. Think she just has a disco in there sometimes

Gorgeous day again today - I don't want it to end on Friday!!

FoofFighter · 24/04/2013 11:02

Woofers I think there's a HG support thread on MN (somehwere!) if you aren't already lurking on it, might be worthwhile? I feel so bad for you and Waves still suffering :(

PFE - they let you out?? I thought the whole point was to see what effect the glucose has on you at rest? I'll be stuck for two hours in a very small room with no windows. Fab.

MW today, what do they do at 24wk appt? Bloods or just a quick once over? Need to remember to get my Matb1 and to ask to be weighed.

BabyHMummy · 24/04/2013 11:02

woofers my mate can't remember the name of the injection but she says talk to your Dr and they should be able to goes you something stronger than the tablets. Sorry xx

RuckAndRoll · 24/04/2013 11:05

GP can't see me until next Thursday. I've booked the appointment but can't decide whether to push and try get an emergency one tomorrow. It doesn't feel like an emergency. Arghh

Seems a bit of an over-reaction to be calling the midwife over stinging when I pee (sorry if TMI) and a few other bits.

wavesandsmiles · 24/04/2013 11:25

woofers

Get yourself over here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/1721880-Hyperemesis-Support I have been using this for most of my pg, and it is great. But definitely get to the doctor - you can't get injections to self adminster, but your GP should be able to try a combination of meds, and dehydration is a serious risk in pregnancy, so you need him/her to check your ketone levels too.

I've just vomited so much that the hideous acid bile came up and has made my entire oesophagus burn Sad On a trial day off hospital - and heading back to bed as soon as I can, as moving about is making the vomiting terrible today!

Hope to see you on the support thread woofers.

Christelle2207 · 24/04/2013 12:34

ruck that sucks. Do you not have maternity triage you can call for advice? I was quite impressed with mine - they took a lot of detail down then told me what to do. - my issue was quite minor really yet didn't feel I was wasting their time.

Mrsd77 · 24/04/2013 12:38

Well that wasn't as relaxing as I'd hoped! BP was high so ended up being seen by a doctor as also have a rash on my leg. All decided to be ok. Then it took five attempts to get my second blood test. Hmmm.

Now at home with a sarnie!!!

RememberingMyPFEs · 24/04/2013 12:50

Foof apparently so - they take bloods just as I drink it and then exactly 2 hours later and compare the levels I think... Sounds crap but sitting in a box sounds even worse

FoofFighter · 24/04/2013 15:12

Just back from MW, measuring bang on 24, bp fine, urine fine, baby hb was 150 if anyone cares to speculate on that ;), got my matb1, got weighed and have put on exactly a stone so more than happy with that just now :) only cause for mini concern was my own heartrate which was 110 and apparently very fast? been told to watch out for any palpitations etc and to not ignore it, get into GP Confused

zippyrainbowbrite · 24/04/2013 15:21

Hi all!

Have been lurking away, catching up regularly, but haven't had anything exciting to post!

Ruck definitely get an emergecy appt - it sounds like you might have a UTI which they take seriously in pregnancy as it can quickly progress to your kidneys (as a long time UTI sufferer, take it from me that you do not want a kidney infection now, they're horrible!).

Mrspennyapple I've also got my big ball out but Zippydog hates it! If any of her toys/chews go any where near it she won't retrieve them, she'll sit a 'safe distance away looking longingly at them and doing her 'pleeeeaaaase' noise!

I think somebody else upthread mentioned a not-quite-feeling-like-you-can-take-in-enough-air feeling - I get that too sometimes, and do find that sitting on the ball somehow makes my posture better for breathing easier.
