ARRRGH!! Got on the scales this morning - I've put on 1stone 9 pounds, and am only 23 weeks!! I am going to be heffa by the time I'm at 40 weeks! Please reassure me and tell me that is within the bounds of normal at this stage....

locket fab news on your scan!

Remembering no real advice, I live with a DH who actively asks me to tell him what needs doing - IME (only the one DH) men just do not see the jobs that need doing, so you have to ask them. Perhaps sit down one evening when you're both relaxed and not stressed and work out a timetable - list all the jobs and then divide them between you so you each have your own areas of responsibility, and then schedule some free time for both of you, so say Saturday morning you get to lie in and recover from the week, and then say Sunday morning DH gets to do his sailing or whatever? Would that work? I don't know if that would work or whether it would be too much for you both at the moment? I'm sure some others will be along later with better advice!

muddybloodypuddles · 05/04/2013 20:17

Remembering - I think this is quite a trait with men! My dh thinks he's a right martyr when he does things. Do you work? I am sahm so find I do everything as I feel guilty that he has to work so much whilst I don't earn anything - however I am also aware that looking after a 3yr old is also a full time job and, although I don't 'earn' I am still 'saving' us nursery fees - I have to remind myself this a lot. I think naturally a lot of women take on the majority of the domestic stuff, sometimes without realising it then you sit down one day and realise you are doing nearly all of it... but a lot of the time it's also because we're not very good at asking for help and men see things very much in black and white. Example today, I went with ds to friends house for about 4 hours and dh has day off so agreed to do shopping, I had put a load of washing on as we got back from Cornwall yesterday, so when I got back he had done exactly as I had asked him(no argument there) but when I asked if he managed to put the washing out his reply was that I hadn't asked him to do that so it wasn't on his list so I do find I have to lay out exactly what I would like him as he won't normally take that initiative and think 'oh I think the floor needs a vacuum'. I am finding it difficult now as the hosp said I shouldn't do any housework due to my placenta previa, I had an inward moan as that means I will have to be asking dh to do all sorts of things and sometimes I will ask him to vacuum and he gets round to it 2 or 3 days later.... (and with a dog and a cat it needs vacuuming quite often). So this is a good test for me as baby needs to come first and when we were both working he did an awful lot more than he does now. Also, when he does things he has to list them all in great detail, i.e. he doesn't just 'do' the kitchen he empties the dishwasher, refills it whilst rinsing things and putting bits in the bin and wiped the sides, etc. and thinks he deserves some kind of medal lol. But I do partly blame myself as I just took over all domestic chores. I think stopsitting has a good idea because men generally don't realise all that we do as we don't advertise it! And if you write down all the chores to divvy up it will make him realise just how much you really do!
Sorry I've gone on there a bit Blush

duende · 05/04/2013 22:09

Checking in after not posting for a while.
I've put on 7kg (over a stone) and I'm 23 weeks. I think I am bigger this time round and my bum is growing more too :/

Looking forward to our last holiday for a while - we are off to lanzarote in 2 weeks time :) it will be DS's first foreign beach holiday and I really hope he enjoys it.

Also, my pushchair arrived today -a black baby jogger city versa. I love it!

JollyPurpleGiant · 05/04/2013 22:20

Remembering, it is probably good that you're discussing it now. And good on his family for having a go at him!

I think you'll just need to tell him what needs done and he'll need to make sure he does it.

Here, I do the vast majority of housework - including all washing, nearly all cooking, hoovering (except the stairs), recycling, bathrooms, etc.

DH puts out the bin and hoovers the stairs. But he does ALL the garden stuff and for almost all the big jobs, like painting a room or decluttering a cupboard he is the driving force. He also cleans up the kitchen after tea most nights. And cleans out the fish regularly.

We have different standards though. DH would like the house to be spotless with even the doorhandles polished (wtf, he's mad!) But because I do most of the cleaning it is done to my standards and my priorities.

JollyPurpleGiant · 05/04/2013 22:22

I've put on about 5kg since June. less since pg started though as I had put on weight before getting upduffed. Running around after a toddler is limiting my weight gain I think.

I'm 19+1, nearly half way!

GaryBuseysTeeth · 05/04/2013 22:29

Pre DS I was 122lbs, at 21wks pregnant I weighed 140lbs & full term with him I was 160lbs(!) Lost it all very quickly afterwards.
Was 122lbs before this one, am currently at 138, but hoping to follow suit & lose it all quickly again...like Jolly, having a toddler helps!
Stop, there is no normal! But as long as you're not eating a massive chocolate cake or big mac meal everyday it's fine Smile

Remembering, I don't think it's something you can do pre-DC arriving as you have no idea how both of you will handle it/the routine you'll be in with baby.
Pre-DS I did the majority of housework/food prep but that has changed massively, and on a day-by-day basis we just do what we see/the other asks us to do, for example I always iron DH's shirts, but the last week he's been doing it.

Woofers, Envy have you steamed the live out of everything?

Hurrah for all the purchasing going on, we're leaving the buggy until we've got a 6month old, hoping to get by with just the slings.

21+5

FoofFighter · 06/04/2013 11:37

Locket how lovely, congratulations :)

I haven't weighed since my booking, going to ask at 24w appt to be done (they don't routinely weigh you anymore)

JollyPurpleGiant · 06/04/2013 12:30

Just want to say, I hate being pregnant.

I have PGP, numb fingers, crap skin. I can't sleep. And today we have driven 200miles from home in a rare child-free escape only for me to be puking up everything I eat. Which I presume is not pregnancy related but it's shit anyway.

I know lots of you are having shit times, I'm just feeling sorry for myself today.

IJustWoreMyTrenchcoat · 06/04/2013 12:46

Aww, just wanted to sympathise with you Jolly. I am either in niggling discomfort or outright pain in my bum cheek and my pubic bone at the front with my ?PGP and have to wait 2 weeks for a physio appointment. I too am finding it hard to sleep - soo painful to turn over, and hellish if I move my leg at the wrong angle. Struggling with sleep also. It hurts to lie on my back, too much pressure to lie on my front, starting to get rib pain too I think!

Dont get me wrong, i know it could be worse and I am utterly thrilled to be pregnant, but I am a crap pregnant person. I can't believe some people enjoy this. Awful wishy washy knackered 1st trimester, onto pain in the 2nd. I am back to work after being signed off from mid next week and am dreading it. Occupational Health said to 'take it easy' and I don't see how it's possible, I know I will be in pain after 8 hours, a 10 minute trip out now makes me seize up.

My boyfriend concurs, we wanted 3 but he said he is banning me, I am obviously not cut out for it and ours will be an only child (tongue firmly placed in his cheek I think!).

LouiseD29 · 06/04/2013 13:40

Successful scan today at 22 weeks! All looking healthy and developing well, and... it's a GIRL!!!!

RuckAndRoll · 06/04/2013 17:14

Congratulations Louise after the initial influx of boys it seems the girls are evening things out.

Spent the morning doing housework, sat down for a quick rest of my back and just woke up 2 hours later! oops.

Sorry to hear your finding it hard Jolly and IJust Just keep focusing on the end results and moan away as much as you like!

RugBugs · 06/04/2013 17:59

Congratulations on a good scan Louise and hurray for more girls!

I count myself very very lucky that DP and I both had untidy siblings so neither of us are good at tolerating mess, DP just gets on with it. I swear when DD was born I did no housework or cooking for months, I was limited to what I could do with my one free arm!
Remembering I don't think there's much you can do beforehand except prepare them and drill it in that if you won't be able to do anywhere near as much as you do now. Then just sit on the sofa with newborn and dictate away!

Jolly I'm not having much fun this time round. I had an eclair for lunch and it's still repeating on me, I'm sure I'd have heartburn if I could manage to eat more than a few mouthfuls per meal. I'm really excited about getting crutches which is quite sad.

Woofers · 06/04/2013 18:43

Jolly and I just wore - I am joining your club. I hate being preggers too. Just finished a 10hr non stop day and I now feel overwhelmingly sick. Possibly due to the lack of hydration and nutrition.

Sick sick sick interspersed with pain sleeplessness and pain.

I am now looking for dirt and can't wait to steam again.

thekatsatonthematt · 06/04/2013 21:25

woofers was it you that wants the jeans? They're clean now so can post them on mon if you pm me your address.

My house is filthy if you want to come and steam here...

TheThinksYouCanThink · 06/04/2013 21:34

Hi,
Can I join? I am due 27th Aug with DC3. Have just found that we are expecting a girl which was a big surprise as I was convinced it would be another boy! Both other DC are boys!

LouiseD29 · 06/04/2013 22:06

Congratulations on your girl news, Thinks. And thank you Rug and Rucks. Finding out the sex has made it seem a while new chunk of real! First one for me, so although I'm five months gone, still having trouble getting my head around the reality.

BabyHMummy · 06/04/2013 22:56

Hi girls...had my scan Friday and thankfully all is looking fine...am also team pink.

Spoke to mw about my anxiety and feelings of total numbness about it all and she was brill...helped that i knew her outside of her job as i felt more relaxed talking to her so probably was more open about it than i would have been with a random. she ia logging me for extra attention and follow ups to see how i am etc. Also managed to get the issue over having the gtt resolved and they have agreed not to do it (yay) as the risk for me and baby is too high and i do more careful and regular monitoring than they do anyway so they are leaving it with that unless i hit an issue so feeling a little less wound up.

Still feel surreal and cannot get my head round baby let alone the idea of a daughter...but dp's kids have taken news well so that is a relief. Just git to try and get my head around it all i guess...

Word of advice for anyone still to have scans...ask for a couple of pics cos they really struggled to get a decent one for mw...little swine obviously got fed up of posing and decided the had fulfilled her end when she didn't have her legscrossed!! First one was really fuzzy and distorted but second was brill

OxfordToLondoner · 07/04/2013 10:30

Shopping opportunity alert! There's a special code to get 30% of EVERYTHING at ASOS Today. But you can only use it if you're a 'premier' customer (basically, you pay a tenner and get free next day delivery and returns for a year). The email says other people will get the code in the next few days (but loads of the best stuff might have sold out e.g. Hot Mile already running low).

I've just bought a load of Hot Milk nursing bras, maternity maxi dresses, Tshirts, tankinis etc (most of which i'll probably send back!) in prep for warmer days. The code is: 30%OFF

Happy shopping ladies....

Woofers · 07/04/2013 21:32

Wow oxford that's great thanks.
So do you have to sign up to be able to use the code or are we good to go as we are?

I've spent the day in hospital after an all night vomiting session - home now. My hubby is now in the process of complaining about car parking. At least we had a practice at getting there!!

I've been changing bag inspired by the vib infinity pic on Facebook. But I can't find it online anywhere. Hmm

However I do like this one

How is everyone else getting on with shopping?

Woofers · 07/04/2013 21:44

Question - hot milk maternity bras are under wired. I thought we were to avoid underwiring?

RememberingMyPFEs · 07/04/2013 22:06

Woofers. I have Hot Milk maternity bras and they're not underwired - maybe they have different ones? They are sooooo comfy x

muddybloodypuddles · 07/04/2013 22:13

woofers I haven't seen any that are underwired? I have 3 hot milk bras and love them :-)

23wks tomorrow - only 17 weeks left to go eek!! Smile

OxfordToLondoner · 07/04/2013 22:36

I'm not sure about the code - try it tomorrow maybe without signing up to premier. Asos usually pop codes onto their facebook page too. The failsafe way is the premier sign up though.

Hope the bras aren't underwired!

Abilee90 · 07/04/2013 23:58

Hey ladies,
After a terrible week. Today has been my silver lining. Had a wonderful day with dd, just what i needed. For those of you on facebook group, you will all know whats been going on. So i wont burden the forum with it also.

No weight gain here yet. Will be glad to gain a bit as i have been really good with eating this past week but we will see. I had gained 2.5 kg by this point with dd. but now i'm running round after a toddler, that has just started walking every where this week! Yay! (Will be regretting the yay, soon i'm sure).

No need for maternity clothes here as i like flowy tops. So i'm pretty much ok. Will need a couple of maxi dresses but that about it.

Chest infection is on its way out yay! Been suffering with no anti biotics but i seem to be getting over it now.

Anyway i seem to have waffled plenty. Bring on a better week!
22 + 6 :)
Hurry up little man xxx

JollyPurpleGiant · 08/04/2013 08:44

You can have underwired bras as long as they fit properly.

Hot Milk 'only' go up to a G cup, so not big enough for me. I was a K when my milk came in with DS Shock

Thank you for the sympathy folks. I am feeling much better today. Just a bit dizzy still with lack of food I think. Managed to keep down a bag of crisps and half a slice of toast between Friday night and this morning. I think I was running on Ribena! Hungry again this morning though which has got to be a good sign.

Have my first Physio appt on Thursday and the 20w scan a week today.

19+4 (officially half way as I'm having a section at 39w)!
