I live in 3/4 length sleeve jersey dresses, that one looks very nice.
Have you looked at fat face Ruck? Not maternity but their jersey dresses are often rouched under the bust and very roomy, I have a red heart print one from last winter that is lovely.
I would probably wear that dress with a waterfall cardi (I don't get why they are hated on MN, they are v.handy for public bf'ing) and a nice big brooch.

I got a maternity dress in New Look. On their website they have 100 ish to choose from:

FoofFighter · 03/04/2013 16:20

Scan went ok, no detectable problems that they could see, pics on profile :)

muddybloodypuddles · 03/04/2013 16:33

Hurray foof, glad all was okay Smile

Ruck - that dress looks fine for a christening - I went to a wedding when pg with DS and bought a lovely jersey dress from blooming marvellous, used it again for another wedding 5 weeks after birth

JollyPurpleGiant · 03/04/2013 16:39

Good news Foof. I love your pics :)

RuckAndRoll · 03/04/2013 16:47

Great news foof very jelous of all your pictures.

Seems a general concensous (sp?) that the dress is fine so I'll order it in and see. Everything else I've ordered lately resembles a tent on me so not remotely hopeful! Discovered earlier boots has maternity tights in our local store so useful to know for the panic which will probably happen in a few weeks when I can't find any!

Dexidoo · 03/04/2013 16:53

ruck dress looks nice, until you put it on it's hard to know how it will look. I've bought most of my mat wear second hand, just splashed out on a dark red isabella Oliver wrap top for nights out off eBay. It is really lovely and now have my eye on a wrap dress. No way I'd spend over £50 on a top but £20 for virtually new I can deal with!

Having a really busy time in work. Usually I pick up extra work all the time to help out but having to step back a bit as starting to feel a bit burned out. Have next week off thank goodness with not much planned except sleeping.

BabyHMummy · 03/04/2013 18:43

Foof don't worry about comments and glad your scan went well!!

Ruck maternity night are a bloody nightmare...i have been everywhere for poem and got really pee'd off at the prices...£10+ for a single pair...ridiculous!!!!

Stopsittingonyoursister · 03/04/2013 22:55

I like the dress Ruck - I would wear it with a black vest top underneath, but then I find that wrap dresses tend to gape on me around the bust, and I like to have a vest underneath to stop any unnecessary boob sightings! My DMum (who was a teacher) was once wearing a jumper and when she bent over, one of her pupils (about age 5/6) said "oooh MrsStop, I can see your lungs!". We have been a family of vest-top wearers ever since!!

Great news on the scan foof

Dexi don't push yourself too hard, is your boss supportive of you taking more of a step back?

Had a lovely day here today - really sunny, so kids were outside without needing gloves/hat/scarf/wellies etc. They really enjoyed running around and being able to actually bend their arms in their coats!

DaveMccave · 04/04/2013 02:04

Word on the street kids, primarni are starting to stock maternity wear. Some of the bigger stores have it already. I'm not a huge primark fan, but might be worth checking out?

Dexidoo · 04/04/2013 07:06

Sounds like it could be worth a look thanks dave

stopsitting it is very rare I go without a vest as I am generally a cold bod however now agree the cleavage needs some extra coverage these days!

Work is going to be an ongoing challenge, I am my own boss working in a partnership with around 15 employees so know I have to pull my weight but am usually the first to volunteer and find it hard not to

RuckAndRoll · 04/04/2013 08:23

stop I'm rather gifted up top, even before pregnancy so am normally really aware of flashing people. Someone I know insisted she was a size 12 for her wedding dress, even though it was painfully too small, as she knelt down for the prayers it came down (strapless dress) and gave the vicar an eyeful!

Thanks for the heads up Dave I'll pop along to Primark one lunch time and see what they've got.

Had my last antenatal physio class last night website, it's been really good and I'm feeling a little bit lost now. Back is still painful so need to work out if it's midwife or GP to get physio.

Hi everyone,

We had our scan sat week and baby happy and healthy. We stayed team yellow, we didn't find out with our DD and OH keen not to find out this time. Baby looks very similar to our DD scan photos - hard to imagine that they wont be identical!

Next midwife appointment next week, looking forward to hearing the heartbeat again.

We move house in a couple of weeks to all my energy is going into packing and decluttering. I can't wait to get into our new house, it has so much more space than our current house.

Mrsd77 · 04/04/2013 12:10

Hi all. Long time no post (again!) Happy to say the baby gave DH's hand a massive wallop this morning! He was thrilled to bits! Good week for us here. Wedding Anniversary yesterday and off on hols for a week from tomorrow.

I've also gotten v brave and started to buy things. Seems I have an obsession with muslins! Also got myself a lovely Koto changing bag yesterday. Didn't have a "proper" one with DS as I couldn't find one I liked. This one looks great. I'm really pleased. My dad has also offered to buy us a new buggy. Going with mamas and papas zoom.

Now, must stop procrastinating and get the holiday ironing done!

Good afternoon ladies.

Foof Yay for all ok!

Still very jealous of holiday talk. Maybe we can have some nice weather over a weekend while my DD's are at their dads so I can feel like I'm having a holiday?? HINT HINT

Having a little bit of a mare at work re: holidays. How are your employers dealing with holidays accrued while on leave? Are you being allowed to carry them over to the following year? Or are you taking them before you go on maternity? I really don't want to be paid for them, I would rather take the time off though my employer doesn't seem to know much about the rights of a pregnant employee and it's driving me crackers.

Thanks Dave for the heads up re Primani.

We bit the bullet and ordered a Bugaboo for almost a grand (not including extras ie car seat) and now work is talking possible redundancies. Sods law right?? (DH is SAHD)

muddybloodypuddles · 04/04/2013 19:31

trixie - not sure with holidays as I asked for them as payment with my last job, they will normally only let you carry over max 5 days which have to be taken in the first 3mths of year. Sorry to hear about redundancies, you could send it back? Or just think good job you bought it now while you have the money! Smile

mrsd - where are you going on holiday? Am v jealous, have a good time!

snuffle good to hear scan was good, good luck with moving!

I am also quite well endowed up top so would never do a wrap dress without vest, I am quite envious of those that can without looking like they're in a porno lol

Just got back from Cornwall after long drive with horrible sore throat and stuffy head and it is snowing :-/ BUT having a lie down on sofa and baby cheered me up with lots of movements and kicks that both DS and dh could feel and they could see my belly moving Grin

muddybloodypuddles · 04/04/2013 19:32

Forgot to say - 22+3

Woofers · 04/04/2013 19:56

Steam steam steam GrinGrinGrin kärcher arrived yesterday and today was my day off GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Well jell of those going on holiday. Hmm I really am craving some sun.

I had myself convinced that today was scan day, but no it's next Tuesday.

Holidays - I go on mat leave beginning aug so the bank hols that I have added to my hols are taken off me. So aug bank hol and Christmas and new year. Other than that I get the full amount. I have no idea how much that is but since I'm not taking a full year mat leave I might take march as annual leave. And go back in April. . . .

Christelle2207 · 04/04/2013 21:09

Re holidays seriously pissed off here! Spent ages researching hols for June ages ago and booked Brittany ferries gite holiday in France. Found out by chance today that Brittany ferries absolutely definitely won't accept anyone who is more than 32 weeks on return - no letters accepted, it's a boat FFS!
I will be 33 when we come back. Aarggh! Considering dh going by boat/car and me flying, which is doable in theory because flybe will take me up to 34 weeks with a letter, but who knows if I'll actually get that. More likely we will cancel (grrrrr) and try and sort something out in uk instead. Feel so stupid, never occurred to me that taking a sodding boat would be out of bounds sooner than a plane. Obviously I'm stupid and naive.

On another not went to hospital for maternity dep. tour this eve. They kept us waiting for 25 minute then made it really brief and hurried as they were "so busy" yet I couldn't hear any screaming women/ babies or anyone running around like you see in OBEM. Anyway it was ok, and the midwives seemed competent, but there was something of a discussion about where you park if you come in the middle of the night- all the normal car parks shut at 10pm and the mw didn't know!!! Doesnt exactly fill me with confidence....not a good day.

JollyPurpleGiant · 04/04/2013 21:42

Can you not take the train or channel tunnel home?

Stopsittingonyoursister · 04/04/2013 21:57

Christelle as long as you aren't blocking an emergency entrance/exit, I would park right outside the door! We have a separate entrance around the back of the hospital with a separate car park (presumably so that you don't have to walk past everyone in full blown labour). When we went in with DS and DD, DH just abandoned the car as close to the door as he could get and went back to sort it out once I was comfortable (or in DD's case once she'd arrived because she was so quick!).

The Eurotunnel is really good, and you can get the car on the train - can you cancel the ferry or just do the ferry one way? The roads up to the tunnel are fab and ever so quick, but it depends how far you have to drive either side.

Trixie I have to take any leave accrued in the year that it is accrued iyswim. My holiday year runs April to March, so I have to get all my holidays in before I go off on mat leave, and will then have full year's leave when I go back in July 2014. So, I am taking holiday now, over May half term, and then July, go on mat leave 28/7 and then going back to work 26/7/14. Does that help?

muddy very jealous of your visit to Cornwall, we love it there, usually go twice a year. We are going down in May half term, but missing the August holiday this year (for obvious reasons!). Going to try and wangle a break over October half term....

snuffle congrats on the good scan. Best of luck with the move! Are you going to new area, or upsizing in the same area?

Dave good tip on Primarni!

Christelle2207 · 04/04/2013 22:10

Thanks both, I would be too far gone when we go too (by 1 day) so considering the tunnel both ways. Would end up costing more and would add a lot of time to the journey which I'm not keen on.... I was looking forward to the overnight boat trip!!!

sitting do you have to take all your leave for the year or just that accrued?

Stopsittingonyoursister · 04/04/2013 22:27

Christelle all my leave for that year - for me, that's the equivalent of 6 weeks off.

Locketjuice · 05/04/2013 14:13

For everyone not on the Facebook group, I had my scan all is well and having a little pink one :) yay! One of each so really happy!

Everyone worrying about mat. Leave I feel sorry for you! I'm lucky and haven't worked since I was pregnant with finnley (ds1)

RememberingMyPFEs · 05/04/2013 14:25

I know some of you are having utterly hideous times with OH's and I'm aware that this will all seem petty in comparison but DH is driving me mad. We have a great relationship and since I got PG he is super affectionate. But. He does ever-so-slightly more than he used to around the place and thinks he deserves an effing medal.

This weekend just gone his family came over. We had 9 adults, 2 teens and 2 infants. I tidied the house dusted and vacced top to bottom, sorted the bedding out for everyone, did all the shopping, made cupcakes and ran around all day. He walked the dog (on his bike so had fun) and cooked the goose. He thinks he pulled his weight. He had time to play golf and go sailing - which I was happy for him to do as he wont have much chance after DD arrives for a while. I watched 2 episodes of Criminal Minds and felt guilty.

His family apparently had a go at him and now he is "depressed" that everyone thinks he's a bad husband (over-reaction much?!?) and feels I should have said more about how I didn't feel he pulled his weight - I did mention it a few times but if I push it too much I just get the martyred look and I can't be arsed with the discussion thereafter as I always end up feeling like I've been unreasonable. Maybe I am?

I know I don't ask him to do much as a rule (I do all laundry, dishwasher/kitchen and he cooks 1/2 times per week when I ask him to, he walks Dog and does garden/car stuff). So I've got myself into this situation to some extent but I have 3.5 months left to train him to SEE what needs doing without being told and pick up the slack. I have 3.5 months to train me to ASK for help when I need it without feeling guilty... I also know I'm liable to be quite passive aggressive when stressed and can be a cowbag when tired - I don't want to rip him a new one when DD is 3 weeks old...

Anyone got any advice on how to train a well looked after DH? I've just bought "How to baby-proof your Marriage" in the hope it might help...
