Rug, I'm flying on the 8th, going to take my notes as proof I will only be 22 weeks!

RugBugs · 30/03/2013 20:34

I was thinking about taking my notes but it's Ryanair and the binder will take up precious bag space! We have cheekily booked 'baby equipment' for a tenner each way, there will be nappies and a booster seat in the bag but it's mainly so we don't have to carry bags and DD up stupid Ryanair steps (I've also heard a rumour about Manchester not always delivering buggies at aircraft doors).

You should be really taking notes when you go away anyway, but how about just photocopying the relevant page that says your EDD?

FoofFighter · 31/03/2013 13:56

ahh premature posting!

Baby did REAL PROPER KICKS lots of times in a row this morning, and very easily felt by my hand, just a shame it stopped as soon as swapped for OH hand Hmm

LexiLoganberryBump · 31/03/2013 21:11

foof I don't have my anomaly scan till 16th, DD's school have agreed to let her have a hour off school so she can come too.

I used cloth nappies with DD and will be using them again this time, we'll be getting the bumgenius freetime.

Woofers · 31/03/2013 21:50

Foof how far are you along? My dh is very impatient and wants to feel it kick.

I have had a 1-2-1 consultation with dr google and after reassuring myself that I don't have a spinal tumour I think I have sciatica affecting s 2. I'm back at work tomorrow, and I'm not altogether sure how I'm going to cope. I do a fairly intensively physical job, which involves crawling around on the floor a lot.

We have also lost a cat. He has gone walkabout. Think he saw a break in the weather and he's gone mouse hunting

Hope everyone else is having a lovely Easter weekend.

RuckAndRoll · 31/03/2013 22:09

My DH is convinced there is no point him even trying to feel kicks as the baby have proved itself to be unco-operative so far so he won't be able to feel anything!

Just popped round a friends house for a drink, came home with a bouncy chair, moses basket stand, 10 fitted sheets for a moses basket/pram, 2 bags of toys and a play mat. Apart from furniture we really don't need much else now.

woofers hope you find your cat soon, hopefully he'll make his way home.

21 weeks today [busmile]

RuckAndRoll · 31/03/2013 22:10

oh and woofers step away from dr google! I was just on there curious as to what it reckons my back pain is, apparently I could have renal failure, stomach cancer, kidney stones, or most likely muscle strain!

FoofFighter · 31/03/2013 23:34

Woofers, 20+5 :)

lexi, that's nice, our hospital do not allow children there, would possibly turn a blind eye at 12 but no way at 20 cause they have all the checks to do and measurements etc. Hope she likes it, how old is she?

I AM HUNGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY! I am sat here munching ham sandwiches when I should really be in bed

MrsPennyapple · 31/03/2013 23:54

Evenin' all. I haven't been posting much but have been keeping up with the thread. All ticking along fine here, starting to feel movements that I'm pretty sure DP could feel, but he's either not around at the time, or it stops when he gets near! He says he thought he felt something today, but isn't sure. His skin on his hands is like rhino hide anyway, all thoughened up from working outside all the time, so it might take a bit longer yet :)

In other news, I believe I have finally got a wedding dress sorted! Six weeks before the day, cutting it a bit fine - just hope it's right when it arrives! If not, I'm cutting a head-hole in a bed sheet and tying some twine round my waist, and that'll have to do.

Ditsy79 · 01/04/2013 06:47

Lexi - We are also considering using Bumgenius Freetime, mainly because they are all-in-one and don't need stuffing etc. However, this is our first baby, so we don't have a clue whether or not we'll get on with reusables - DH was originally very keen, but has got less so due to the faces friends/family pull when we tell them we will be using reuasables! Have you used the Bumgenius Freetime before?
Hope you all had a lovely easter. We are visiting my parents. Ate far too much chocolate yesterday, but think the baby liked it :-)

Ditsy79 · 01/04/2013 06:49

ooh, forgot to put 21+6!
MrsPenny - congratulations on getting your wedding dress - v exciting!

JollyPurpleGiant · 01/04/2013 08:00

We had bamboo nappies for DS and I wouldn't use them again. They were tots bots bamboozles. They took forever to dry. And now we won't have nearly as much drying space so just won't have time.

We will be using the bambino mio nappies though. Which dry very quickly. We don't have enough to use exclusively but can probably use them for about half the time.

We've taken 2yr old DD to both scans without any problems (arranging childcare meant family would know when scan was and I didn't want that).
It actually said on my 20wk appt letter, only one other adult and any of your own children. Given the amount of toys in the waiting areas I gather it's pretty standard here.
They even provide a crèche in the delivery unit!

I have some bambino mio prefolds that were given to me way back when I was ttc with ExH, second hand but obv never used by me, I thought bambino mio were not supposed to be that good? Had forgotten about them actually, would need to buy some wraps. I have gotten some Little Lamb bamboo ones for out and about and later on for night times when the baby will hopefully go longer between changes/wakes.

JollyPurpleGiant · 01/04/2013 12:37

My bambino mios are not prefolded. They are just squares that you fold over. So they dry very quickly and are pretty easy to use. They worked fine for us but we didn't use them that much. As we are 'mix-nappying' I'm not going to buy any more, just use what we haven't managed to sell from DS.

Used nappies seem to be worth a lot less than they were a couple of years ago :(

You can mix and match wraps too :)

FoofFighter · 01/04/2013 13:15

I've seen the ebay cheapy chinese wraps and wondering if they are totally useless or actually ok? They have some lovely patterns on [swayed by pretty things emote]

FoofFighter · 01/04/2013 13:16

oh and I think we are talking about the same thing btw, a square that folds into 3, are they not called prefolds anymore?

JollyPurpleGiant · 01/04/2013 13:19

I thought prefolds were the ones that were already folded? Like the tots bots bamboozles? Maybe I'm out of touch with the terminology!

Haven't seen the Chinese ones. They sound lovely though.

You are totally right :) that is what we have :)

JollyPurpleGiant · 01/04/2013 14:24

Thank you :)

DaveMccave · 01/04/2013 16:16

I'm not keen on pre folds or 2 partners like little lambs (except for night time) they are just too bulky for me. My dd was a skinny thing though. It's pockets and all in ones for me. (And some v slim fitting xs newborn fitted for pooplosions!) I love reusables but like bright colours and as much like a disposable as possible. So pockets.

The eBay cheapy pocket nappies are pretty good, as long as you buy something like little lambs boosters for them or use other inserts. They are like unlabelled fuzzi bunz pockets. They won't fit newborns (too big) but will fit from 12lb on. No birth to potty will fit a newborn by the way. I'd advise waiting, or using prefolds or Muslins if you don't want to buy xs too. You can by second hand xs and sell on for same price though so I can't understand why people are so reluctant to get them. How can they resist such tiny cuteness?!

LexiLoganberryBump · 01/04/2013 16:18

Ditsy I haven't used them before, they look great don't they, I love that theres no stuffing and with the flaps they're meant to dry fast.

With my DD I used the original old school terry cloth squares, then the mio prefold which jolly and foof were talking about up thread. I was amazed at the many options out there this time round.

FoofFighter · 01/04/2013 17:47

Dave I've got a load of muslins that I was hoping to use at first and will buy a few xs wraps (will probably use dispos for first two weeks full time though while concentrating on getting bf sorted)

Glad to see a positive write up about the chinese cheapies :) I'd be using better boosters with them if I got any.
