Falcon - totally understand your point of view. This couple however are the biggest 'look at how brilliant we are' type of people. I disagree that a MC implies shame though. I think for me, when I started spotting last weekend, the thought of having to tell people (even just my immediate family) was heartbreaking and not something we were dreading doing. Thankfully so far it didn't come to that! Each to their own though! I think we're going to try and hold out for as long as possible after the 12 week scan...although we'll probably last 5 minutes! Haha.

2 things I will definitely NOT be doing is 1) telling the world and his arse on facebook a minute by minute rundown of my pregnancy (followed by a nappy by nipple report once bubba is born)
And 2) doing one if those awful bump photography sessions. In my opinion they're up there with 'engagement shoots'! Hahaha (sorry if anyone has done/is doing one of these!)

Other than that, happy to go with the flow - anyone else have any strong opinions on things they will do or not do in the next few months? Xxx

  • something we WERE dreading doing! Cricket, spelling like a right knobber today!!
cherrycherry41 · 23/02/2013 11:04

Ive been discharged!! Grin
Feeling alot better, thanks for all the messages Thanks
It is believed from my blood tests etc that little bean is ok! Smile
Had 9 drips in total to get my hydration levels back up and been poked and prodded by various doctors who ill be honest were scratching their heads as theyve never had a pregnant woman on the infectious diseases ward Confused
Been discharged with 'likely bacterial colitus' which is caused by contaminated food i.e. the egg Sad
It can happen more often when your immune system is down and very similar symptoms to salmonella (which luckily the 3rd doctor outruled).
The eggs i ate were in date and lion marked (ok in my eyes?) and were slightly undercooked as they were still slithery and sticky ontop of the egg white. Doc told me basically its bollocks that u can eat egg runny/undercooked that are lion stamped in pregnancy as you can get all sorts of gastronisuis and poisioning from the uncooked egg white (most dangerous bit apparently!) He advised me strongly to thoroughly cook any high risk foods before consuming and i can certainly say i will be following his advice after whats just happened!!
Id rather have gone through labour 10 times in a row that have that again!!

Hope everyone is well, will read through all posts while im stuck in bed today Thanks

delilahbelle · 23/02/2013 11:09

cherry Glad you are home and feeling better, and I will definitely avoid runny eggs. I hope you are fully recovered soon.

I have now thrown up, and then managed to eat a banana and feel 100% better. DH got me some ice lollies to suck on which are v nice, despite the cold weather. :)

RainbowsFriend · 23/02/2013 11:09

Woo Cherry! Glad you're better.

And thanks for the heads-up about the eggs :)

JLSmithy · 23/02/2013 11:10

Hi everyone! Can I join the bus?! Got my bfp last week - visited the drs on Wednesday and am 5 weeks! Due on 23rd October! So excited but nervous too about things going wrong! Am 26 and this is my first!
Slightly worried about the lack of symptoms only exhaustion seems to have kicked in!
Have told close family and friends so hard to stop myself shouting it from the rooftops!!!

Congrats to everyone else!!!

Bronzemoth · 23/02/2013 11:11

Yikes cherry. Glad you and the bean are okay.

Feelinghungry · 23/02/2013 11:12

Very happy for you Cherry great news you must be very relieved.

bronzemoth I exercise lots, high intensity stuff including running. Not sure what to do. I still feel ok doing it now but feel that I should be cutting down. There was a study a few years ago that indicated that over a certain numbers of hours exercise per week increased the odds of mc. However nhs guidelines recommend continuing with what you do normally. So much conflicting advice out there for us pregnant ladies!!!

roofio87 · 23/02/2013 11:15

cherry glad you're feeling better and out of the woods. thanks for the advice,I will be extra careful from now on. already decided against the one day out of date sausages for breakfast which pre pregnancy I would have happily eaten!! will be cooking my egg to death this morning!!Smile Smile

CelticPromise · 23/02/2013 11:39

Morning all.

Hi bronze and feelinghungry I'm another one that loves my sport. Unfortunately my main sport is rugby so for obvious reasons I've had to stop that (and pretend to have a mysterious injury as don't want to tell all my teammates yet...) I'm still running and cycling though and my doctor says it's fine. I ran a 10k last week and have continued with circuit training, but I'm finding everything quite hard work!

The day before I got my BFP I entered a charity bike ride which is 100km. I'm going to be 22 weeks Confused . It's not a race and last time I was pregnant I felt fine at 22 weeks so I've decided to start training and see how it goes. Just got to shift this bad chest first...

CelticPromise · 23/02/2013 11:40

Glad you're on the mend cherry.

Welcome slippysnow.

Bronzemoth · 23/02/2013 11:42

Feeling hungry- it's hard muddling your way through some of the advice. I think you have to trust you own instincts but it is interesting that I think that it is pretty much universal advice that exercise is a good thing. There is a book by dr james clapp that is quoted all over the place that might be worth a read. I'd link it but can't figure out how to do it on my phone! From what I've read the biggest risk is to yourself in the last trimester as you start to produce chemicals that relax your body along with added weight.

cazboldy · 23/02/2013 11:43

I have horses - and haven't ridden since i found out, but was doing so, and am still looking after them ( loading/pushing barrows, carrying hay, buckets of water etc) as i have throughout all of my pregnancies, and usually about 3 days after bubba is born as can't stand being away from them Blush

mw's have always said doing things you are used to is fine, but not to start anyhting new that your body is not used to!

Haylebop12 · 23/02/2013 11:54

I too have been discharged. Four liters of fluids rushed through me in 12 hours. Got my trusty cyclizine to keep my sickness under control and seeing a hb yesterday put me at ease slightly. Unfortunately it doesn't ease the nausea too much and it makes you feel rather drowsy/tired ect. Doc has signed me off for 3 weeks but I won't need that long off and I only qualify for two weeks sick so I'm just going to take that. Could be off the anti sickness by then anyway.

Welcome newbies. We have had lots of positives on this thread recently!

Sorry to those who have received bad news.

MrsExcited · 23/02/2013 12:01

Hugs and cuddles to LeenHS Thanks

Really excited that my scan date has arrived this morning and it is 3 days before we go on holiday at 12 weeks! Hope little bean is still present and correct, holiday will either be a celebration or commiseration.

On another side is anyone feeling constantly cold and shivery - Mum thinks i may be anemic - what can i do? will go o the quacks this week if i still feel like this by mid week, just wondered if there are any home methods i could use.

I am taking Pregnacare which is supposed to give me 121% of RDA, and eating reasonably on top of that.

OrangeBlossom2 · 23/02/2013 12:22

I am glad you are home haylebop and cherry. Slippysnow, I too have an achey shoulder which I am putting down to growing boobs and not sleeping very well. My gp today said that achey joints were normal but you could give yours a ring if you are really worrying. I agree I am super aware of every little change in my body at the moment. I have tried not to read the "things that go wrong" parts of books and websites as I start to imagine that I have all the symptoms and get myself worrying unnecessarily. I too had a car accident last year which hurt my back and neck and I still go to the chiropractor each month. I told her we were ttc to check it was ok and she said it was safe to keep having adjustments and it could even help fertility and during pregnancy by keeping everything correctly aligned so it might be something you want to consider? Just don't have the X-rays obviously.

OrangeBlossom2 · 23/02/2013 12:29

Mrsexcited you probably know this already but are you drinking fruit juice or eating something high in vitamin c with your meals and tablets? That will help you absorb more of the iron. Also avoid drinking tea or coffee with food which will stop you absorbing as much of the iron. Dried fruit is a good snack for iron too and easy to carry around with you.

cuillereasoupe · 23/02/2013 12:33

Sal - I know what you mean about FB and photo sessions. I saw a thing on telly the other day about how the latest thing to do is a plaster cast of your bump Hmm. Not really my thing.

Haylebop12 · 23/02/2013 12:47

I'm gonna take personal photos of my growing bump because I didn't do anything like that with dd and avoided photos. Nothing to look back to. Definitely wont be plastered on fb though!

Kelly1814 · 23/02/2013 12:52

hello everyone! What a fab thread. I'm 7+4 today, due on October 9th. First baby. Am 36 but will be 37 when the baby arrives. Absolutely loving this site and the very helpful lovely people on it :)

OrangeBlossom2 · 23/02/2013 13:10

We are taking photos each week as a record for us to see how I grow but definitely not for putting online! It might be interesting for the baby to see when (s)he grows up too.

Feelinghungry · 23/02/2013 13:42

Celtic and bronze good to see some other exercise fanatics. When I thought about what I had to give up/reduce while pregnant: alcohol, can do (and I love wine!) caffeine, can do (big coffee fan too), exercise...noooooooo!!!
I did feel a bit more tired during my last class but not sure it if was all in my head. Will continue as norm and just listen to my body I guess as well as speak to mw and dr. Will google that dr james clap book now bronze. And Celtic, 100km bike ride at 22 weeks - impressive, you have to let us know how you get on!

Sal1977 · 23/02/2013 14:39

I love those little movies on Youtube where they have taken a picture each week and then put them altogether to show how the body changes and they end up with a babe in arms!

We'll defo take some personal pictures along the way, just really can't stand those posed ones with naked man standing behind naked preggers woman making a shape of a heart on her bump whilst they both look lovingly at it! Bleugh.... Hehe

roofio87 · 23/02/2013 14:44

Haha, yeah I'm defo not a huge fan of cheesy pregnancy shoots!! cat believe I'm only 7+4, once I've eaten I honestly look at least 15 weeks I'm sure!! Haha Smile

Natalieand · 23/02/2013 15:23

I'm only 6+3 and I'm noticing my jeans are already getting snug already. Don't really wanna get maternity jeans yet was hoping to hold off till weathers warm enough to just buy maternity 3/4 lengths.....getting so nervous about Mondays scan and hoping there are now two heart beats and not just yolk sacs!!! Ill be 6+5 when I have the scan
