bunny I wish I had seen your post earlier, I woke up at half 3 this morning with a bad dream and couldn't get back to sleep until about 5am, I would have chatted to you Smile

taz I've been waiting to hear from a physio for about 2 1/2 months now, hoping they'll get in touch soon!

I have a very excited little boy here this morning, it's his 6th birthday. How is everyone else this morning?

Catchingmockingbirds · 24/02/2013 10:06

Is there a fb may anti-natal group too?

Bunnychan · 24/02/2013 10:49

I'm so glad it's not just me with the dreams. I know exactly where it all stemmed from but it was horrible just the same. I think I dreamt about bleeding because I had been talking about post birth bleeding with my SILs. Also, I don't have a nursery as I live at my parents- we will be due to move at the start of the summer so there's no point setting one up and no spare room either. This means that all my baby stuff is stashed everywhere and this is really getting to me :-( so I guess that's why I keep having anxious dreams. I did manage to go back to sleep but I have to be honest, waking up for hours on end seems to be a regular thing.
I think the next 12 1/2 weeks seem so long and yet so short all at the same time x

BeauticianNotMagician · 24/02/2013 11:41

Bunny How awful.I too have been having nightmares like that as well although they've not been so bad last week as I can't sleep anyway.

Welcome back Cheerful and Catching

Cheerful so you will have one of each now.Are you still waiting to tell your Mum.

Catching Happy birthday to your son.Do you have anything nice planned.I can't believe by the time this baby arrives I will have a 7 and 8 year old.Just hope we manage to fit in a party for ds2 as his birthday is the 13th.

BeauticianNotMagician · 24/02/2013 11:43

Can we eat ice cream? I really want some Ben and Jerrys Grin

Catchingmockingbirds · 24/02/2013 12:04

Thanks beaut! Yes he's got a party at his favourite softplay and all his class are going, he also had a sleepover last night for him and his friends, I obviously made all of these plans on a day where I had more energy!

twinklingelephant · 24/02/2013 17:48

Hi guys. It's been a good while since I've been on here! The fb group has been easier to keep up with bit now I've finally worked out how to get the MN app working I will hopefully keep more in touch with this thread too :)
Good luck to everyone starting summer term at school tomorrow, I know from fb that there's a lot of us! x

roastpotatoes · 24/02/2013 18:51

Hello everyone (and particular hello to the one of you that I happened to meet in real life today!).

Sorry to hear about the bad dreams. I've been having some strange ones as well - but your's sounds particularly nasty, bunny.

My bump has been quite painful the last couple of days. Yesterday it was stitch like pains all down the right hand side. And now today it has been feeling like I've pulled lots of little muscles all over my tummy. Do other people get this kind of thing? I wond whether perhaps the baby has moved a bit and that's what's causing it. She has been head down for quite a while now but perhaps she's shifted.

30+1

Catchingmockingbirds · 24/02/2013 20:20

I get that too roast, the GP said that for me it's caused by baby squishing everything. It can get very painful though.

cuppateaandagingersnap · 24/02/2013 20:33

Really sorry to hear about your MIL elly hope she gets some positive news about treatment.

I'm another one having disturbing dreams, been dreaming about having bleeds pretty regularly since the beginning and then waking up needing to dash to the loo just to check all ok, not nice but as others are saying must be anxiety dreams.

Had a 4D scan yesterday which was ace, so nice to see him wriggling around in there and pulling funny faces and re-confirmed definitely a boy!

Having a bit of a disaster today, was sorting out what will be the nursery and managed to pull the curtains down pole and all :( then went to put the crib together and discovered that a bit of it was broken, added to that our heating has packed up and it's going to be the end of next week before we can get the bits we need to get it fixed, gah!

Oh and beaut Ben and Jerry's is fine - I have a small addiction, the only ice cream we need to avoid is the whippy stuff from machines or if made from unpasturised milk but TBH never seen ice cream made from unpasturised milk, certainly not in tescos!

SevenReasonsToSmile · 24/02/2013 20:39

I've PM'd both of you who asked about the fb group.

beaut yes ice cream is fine thank goodness

catching hope your DS has had a great day.

Today I may have accidentally spent nearly £300 on reusable nappies and all the bits I need to go with them. I'm switching 15mo DD into reusables now so I l know what I'm doing when the next one arrives. I figured I'll be more likely to put the next one in reusables if I'm already in the routine of it and washing nappies anyway, if not it'll be too easy just to keep buying disposables.

mrsmooms · 24/02/2013 20:51

poor bunny, hope you don't have any more nightmares .. FWIW I went through a phase of having horrible panicky dreams too and when I looked into it apparently it can be your mind processing anxiety and fears during sleep (esp re horrible situations you block out when you're awake) and you may well find that when it comes to labour etc that you're calm and able to cope because there isn't that pre-existing anxiety there waiting to pop up. No idea if it is true but made me feel better! Smile Oh, and I'm also pretty sure I also have nightmares if I get wrapped up in the duvet and overheat ...

seven, have also been thinking about switching 18 month old DS to reusables as it doesn't seem fair for the new one to have jazzy colourful pants and him the plain old disposable ones Smile. Can you keep us updated on how you get on? Am wondering how much more extra washing it would generate on top of the daily loads and whether you need a tumble dryer or do they dry pretty quickly on an airer?

ooh could you also PM me re the FB group? Ta!

shelly81 · 24/02/2013 21:21

My DS is going to be 13 in the morning :-o I feel so old haha he's so excited about being a teenager .... Xxx

Wirrawoo · 24/02/2013 23:02

Hey roast I get that achey bump thing too at the end of long days. Feels like lots of little pulled stomach muscles along the sides. Hadn't thought of it being the baby squishing things though. Interesting!

elly sorry to hear about your MiL, hope you get good news soon Thanks

bunny poor you with the bad dreams, like someone else said though apparently it's your psyche sorting through your fears and anxieties whilst you sleep. Haven't had any ones about the baby other than nice ones, but have had several recently where in my dreams I'm stuck having this baby with my old terrible ex from years ago, then I'm so relieved every time I wake up and see my partner there and realise that that time is over and think "thank f** for that!" my cat also keeps on turning up in my dreams in random dream locations snd i end up wandering around my various adventure dreams with her under my arm making sure shes safe Confused. Don't know why that's all started happening. Our poor bodies and brains are coping with a lot right now and seems like dreams are the place where stuff that scares us goes to get worked through!

Thanks for all the support last week by the way ladies. You are a lovely bunch and really helped :)

We went to the Baby show today and are feeling v satisfied with some good bargains... Got our pram with a free car seat, car seat adaptor and free newborn carrycot, got Tripp trapp highchair with good discount and all the tommeetippee things we needed (breast pump etc) discounted, half price changing mat, some cheap dribble bibs and finally some (ahem) perineal massage gel. There's a phrase I never thought I'd say Blush

CheerfulYank · 25/02/2013 04:49

Does anyone else get a rock-hard uterus after sex? Blush I looked it up and it's apparently normal, but I feel like it can't be quite comfortable for the baby!

BeauticianNotMagician · 25/02/2013 07:57

Thanks Ive bought some Ben and jerrys to eat in front of the tv this evening Grin

CupofTea glad you enjoyed the 4d scan we have ours next Saturday.I can't wait.

Cheerful Sorry I can't help much with the uterus thing.

Anyone else not been having as much sex?Obviously I only see DP at weekends anyway but we had a good sex life before. We are doing other things but very little penetrative sex here HmmDP has said that it worries him with me being pregnant and to be honest most of the time we are just too tired. Please tell me we aren't the only ones.

BeauticianNotMagician · 25/02/2013 08:00

Also forgot to add that I slept for about five hours last night.First time in a week. However, the reason I slept is because baby Didnt keep me awake kicking. So now I'm worried something's wrong as haven't felt much movement.I think I need help haha.

Catchingmockingbirds · 25/02/2013 08:32

We're the same beaut, DP is too worried about hurting either of us too, it doesn't help that my hormones are all over the place and mean I'm in the mood all the time. You might have been so tired from nights of broken sleep that you've slept through the baby kicking all night, try not to worry Smile

MaybeAMayBaby · 25/02/2013 08:43

Hey ladies.

I don't come on for a few days and this thread moves on so quick.

Elly so sorry to hear about MIL. Must be a shock. Are you close to your inlaws?

Welcome back cheeful and catch.

Beaut glad you managed to rearrange your 4D scan. I couldn't get another appt! So we will still go next Saturday-during the kitchen being fitted! Anyone else slightly worried about all the scans? It's not something I've thought too much about. I have scan every 2 weeks and wanted the 4D one to feel more like a special moment as the others are very quick and medical. But a few weeks ago, there was a thread about a woman who wanted to turn down the 20 week scan due to uncertainty of side effects!

I need to admit to pulling a sicky today. Supposed to be first day back after half term, and I see from fb many of you have that too today. I spent last week so illl and miserable. I'm still coldly and ear ache but could have gone in Blush. Now feeling very guilty. I've got tonnes of work today though as I was in bed last week and got nothing done.

I think I'm a bit in denial about the whole baby thing. DH feels the same. we have bought nothing for this little 'un. I have still got everything in the loft, but if she were to make an early arrival we'd be a bit caught out. Luckily MIL has stepped up and offered to wash and sort everything. She doesn't work and I think she wants to be useful. I could have hugged her! Just need to get the things down now.

Right. Need to hide phone now. I MUST do this work. Have a good day, ladies.

beaut you're not the only ones. But after being together 16 years we are hardly still at the jumping each other stage anyway.

28 weeks today!

ng1412 · 25/02/2013 09:34

Elly so sorry to hear about your MiL,my uncle has just had bad news about the return of his cancer, my mum is so upset and she is on the other side of the Atlantic and feels totally useless.

Seven we are in France on the border with Switzerland, pretty near mountains so we get lots of snow that stays for weeks. We have had tons this weekend, but we don't have any forecast for this week so I am hoping that is the last of it. We get amazing Spring and Summer weather so I can't wait to be in the garden with my DD in a couple of months' time relaxing again!

Cheerful what is this sex thing you speak of? Grin

Boodstress · 25/02/2013 10:05

cheerful I know that your uterus contracts when you orgasm which is why it goes hard - not that I am having first hand experience of this; sex is a foreign concept to me right now. My creaky pelvis doesn't help but to be honest it's like having the baby in the room with me, I couldn't even think about it while I can see and feel the baby move Blush.

We have moved rooms around this weekend and given up our big room so kids can share massive room. I invariably ended up doing a bit of lifting and pushing stuff and I'm wrecked but at least I can get cot up and start collecting & washing bits.

ng I worked in Zurich for a year and loved the distinct four seasons, summers swimming by the lake after work, winters snowboarding at the weekend. Unfortunately I didn't like the draconian Swiss laws so much.

Wirra you mentioned about cats in their dreams, from memory dream analysis say the appearance of cats in your dreams represents your womanhood and femaleness. The fact that you were carrying it around to keep it safe made me smile.

Artichook · 25/02/2013 10:28

Cheerful - the rock hard uterus thing is normal, I get it too, it's not caused by sex itself but rather by orgasm.

Just had my 28 week appointment. All is good except baby is currently breech. The OB said not to worry at this stage but I'm a little concerned as both DDs were always head down. Anyone else got a breech lie at the moment?

beaver33 · 25/02/2013 10:38

Morning ladies

Elly again, so sorry to hear about your MIL. Hope she's getting the care she needs and that there are things they can do for her. Stressful for your DH though, and for you.

Beaut and whoever had the monoboob comment - LOL. I have given up on hair removal. Tried to attack my bits with a razor the other day and came out in an awful rash which I can only put down to me hacking aimlessly. So sod it.

And this may or may not be linked to my new role as hirsute monster but...sex?? Pah. In my head I'm quite horny but when I actually think about the practicalities it turns me off. DH and I haven't talked about it and we're hugely affectionate in so many other ways that it honestly hasn't been an issue. But I get the distinct impression he's so in awe of what my body's doing and that there's a little girl in there that he'd find it a bit too difficult, IFSWIM.

Cheerful trust you to wander back in here and start banging on about shagging Wink....welcome back!

I had the most blissful week at work last week - my main boss was away on holiday for half term and his deputy was in charge. Which meant I left the office ON TIME every day, was not put under any unnecessary additional pressure and was even told I could leave early on Saturday night. With another eight weeks before I go on mat leave I could really do with some more weeks like that. Sometimes I just want to shout, 'See this huge bump attached to my frontage?? It's a BABY and I'm PREGNANT and you need to cut me some slack'. But I don't.

29 weeks today...

ng1412 · 25/02/2013 10:40

Artichook mine is currently breach too. Am 28 weeks also and at my last appt my consultant said it wasn't anything to worry about yet and that they normally turn before birth.

I have another appointment a week tomorrow so will be interested to see whether baby has moved. I have to say that at the moment the kicks are still coming from the same place so i don't think baby has moved.

WestieMamma · 25/02/2013 10:41

Can I join the fb group please? (FlamingNoraImPregnantPanda in disguise)

OMG! 30+5 Where the flaming nora did that come from?
