Hi all gosh zero energy I'm still in my dressing gown Blush

Arti glad you feel reassured about the lambs. I wouldn't of had a clue either.

I had a huge list of toiletries to add to the hospital bag that I was going to get this weekend. I'm having a big clear out ready for moving and came across some lovely smelling mini shower gels etc i was given for Christmas. So that saves me some money as trying to tighten the purse strings now.

Hope my packing boxes arrive today so I can just get on with all the packing to be done.

34+ 1

BeauticianNotMagician · 05/04/2013 12:57

Packing boxes have just arrived eeek

Catchingmockingbirds · 05/04/2013 12:58

Good luck beaut

SevenReasonsToSmile · 05/04/2013 14:38

Blimey, I haven't been on for a couple of days and we've another early arrival!

mooll huge congratulations, such a beautiful name too.

elly can't believe yours is so close now, how exciting!

beaver are you on Facebook? I think you're the only one on here who isn't a member of the May '13 Facebook group.

I'm very proud of myself today, the little tykes activity slide thingy I ordered for the DCs came today, the instructions said assembly takes 20 minutes. At 7 months pregnant I done it in just over 30 with 2 children trying to climb on it whilst building it.

Is everyone organised now? I still need to order the new mattresses, and just put the clothes away and pack my bag.

32+0 today, hard to believe its less than 4 weeks until the point when I had the other two.

TerracottaPie · 05/04/2013 15:10

Well done seven! I love doing flat pack stuff. I put together a wardrobe, check of drawers and cot all by myself when I was heavily pregnant with DC3. And then moved them repeatedly around the nursery to work out where they should go. I couldn't imagine trying to do any of that this round though.

I'm not at all organised.

Need a new Moses basket mattress. Need to get loads down from the attic. Need to sort through all of DSs vests and sleep suits to find the neutral, non-boy things as we don't know the sex. Oh and then wash them. There's loads more too.

I suppose I should begin thinking a little about a hospital bag as well.

I sound quite laid back about it all. I'm not!

MrsB76 · 05/04/2013 15:49

I envy you organized ones Smile My due date is 30 April and I still have only 1 set of newborn/0/3mo size clothes. I got most of the other things second hand but plan to buy her first outfit with DH on a - probably emotional - shopping trip. Also, we're going away for a long weekend today with family so I hope DD3 will decide to stay in until wk40 like her big sisters did!

36+3 and feeling like a beached whale!

DXBMermaid · 05/04/2013 19:44

I have no energy at the moment... Still need to do a lot of tidying up, putting away and mountains of laundry but instead all I can do is lie down and sleep. Sad

I do not feel like myself at all, don't seem to like the dog anymore, snap at DH for no reason, can't handle violent tv shows, don't want to see friends anymore and I still have 7 weeks to go. Any tips to save me (and my loved ones) from myself? Having a pity party at the moment which makes me feel even worse.

Beaut, good luck with the moving and packing. There is remote chance that we might have to move shortly after the birth and just thinking about it freaks me out!

Very jealous of all you upbeat and energetic ladies. Will try to be more like you, I promise.

beaver33 · 05/04/2013 21:47

Arg, just leaving work and I'm SHATTERED. Everything is taking me twice as long as I can't concentrate and have no short term memory at all. Didn't get a lunchbreak either as I was so busy so today has been pretty long and arduous. And back in tomorrow for more of the same - woo! Then have four hours of NCT on Sunday and friends to stay at night. I must be mad.

Am also another one with so much still to do. Need mattresses (and a cot), must check through what I have clothes-wise as it's all been donated and prob needs washed, need to decorate nursery, pack hospital bag and just generally buy stuff we need!

Mermaid I'm another one feeling really antisocial, prob cos I'm so tired. Am not returning friends' calls, can't be bothered seeing anyone and even mates who I know need me for emotional support right now I can't commit to. I've nothing left at the end of the day!

Seven I'm not on the Facebook group. There were lots of reasons for that but I prob cd join now - can you PM me the link or help me find it?

Beaut good luck with the move! And don't do much, will ya...point helpfully.

Crikey, miss a few days and so much has happened!
Huge congratulations mooll am so happy for you that it's all worked out ok. What a beautiful name too! Hope you are recovering well xx

scooby your work situation sounded terrible, wouldn't feel remotely guilty about putting your and your baby's health first.

beaver cannot recommend West Wing and 30 Rock enough, we LOVE 3O Rock in this house :) have you seen Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip? If you like West Wing and Aaron Sorkin's writing then its a good watch. Treme is also supposed to be amazing, all set in New Orleans post Hurricane Katrina. Hope you're settling in fine to the new house.

We just got back from a mammoth day of driving to Devon and back but was totally worth it... We have found our wedding venue and it's better than we could even imagine, woo hoo!! Grin

Artichook · 05/04/2013 22:57

We drove back from Devon this evening too Wirra. Where is your venue? Have you set a date? I love hearing of wedding plans!

rachywhite83 · 06/04/2013 12:35

Just had a bloody awful driving lesson Sad can't wait for them to be over

Wirrawoo · 06/04/2013 12:49

arti it's going to be in August next year (when boo boo-yet-to-be-named) has had his first year. Family are coming over from Oz so we are getting a place where we can all stay for the week and have a bit of a Wedstock type vibe about the whole thing Smile. The venue is Colehayes Park down on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, SO beautiful and we can get married outside under a nice big tree if the weather is nice. We took loads of pics yesterday looking extremely pregnant, the sun came out for us!

beaver33 · 06/04/2013 13:46

Wirra that sounds beautiful. I got married in the garden of my parent's house in rural Scotland last summer - basically, where I grew up. Views of the hills, flowers from my folks' garden and a real homely vibe. We wrote our own (humanist) ceremony and everyone commented on how unique and special it was. Fingers crossed you get the weather!

I am NOT having a good day. Sorry to moan. Was kept awake until 5am by partying neighbours (but couldn't figure out where they were) and then slammed into a bus on my drive to work. Got such a fright. Have a horrible feeling it was my fault and I was just too tired to notice what the hell was going on. But there's nothing like an eight-month-bump to defuse tension....

Got back in the car and just sobbed for a while like an idiot. Then got into another road rage incident five mins later - this time, not my fault. Some guy in a BMW trying to cut up the inside when I was giving way to a learner driver. He got the window down and started shouting at me (for no reason) and I just started sobbing again and called him a cock and started railing at the world and why everyone was so horrible. He quickly realised I was completely mad, apologised and said he'd had a baby 4 weeks earlier, and then sped off.

Turned up at work looking like a right nutjob - mascara everywhere and prone to lip-wibbling.

I just want to go home and hide for a few days.

34+5

babygeek · 06/04/2013 14:06

Aww beaver that sounds awful! Hope you get a chance to destress and have some Brew. You must be really shaken up. Not what you need when 8 months pregnant or anytime for that matter. Hope that horrible driver that yelled at you feels really bad too!! Sounds like a right tosser.

Ellypoo · 06/04/2013 17:22

Wirra that sounds beautiful :)

Oh no beaver, how awful - hope you're ok xx

Had last scan yesterday - baby estimated at 6lb 2oz so will be interesting to see how accurate it is! Sonographer reckons it will be quite a long baby, which is not massively surprising as DH and I are both quite tall.
I am 1st on the list on wed but it will be the afternoon which I upset me a bit because I assumed it would be morning. I still have to be at the hosp for 7.30am which even my consultant said was crazy. So I'll have a whole morning starving, and probably panicking!! Oh well, 4 more sleeps to go! Bags packed & waiting in the car ready! Also have this horrid mrsa wash that I have to use every day which is a pain because I can't just add it to my bath, and have to wash my hair with it too.

How are you all getting on? So glad the sun has found its way out now!

Boodstress · 06/04/2013 19:12

Hi all, Elly I'm very excited for you. I had a semi planned section last time - basically they would give me a sweep & see what happened, otherwise they would give me a section. I was 8 days over and baby still high. As it turned out they couldn't even reach the cervix - this was at 7.30 when we had to be in and I was nil by mouth til the section at 4.30 cause they 6 emergency sections come in. They won't induce following a previous section which is why it was straight to theatre if I didn't get a wiggle on. The not eating part wasn't a big deal, I was very bored though and my fear for this time is that husband will have to leave to collect the boys at 7ish so hope I go into theatre early.

I hear on Wednesday the date so it's basically 2 weeks from then. Had my anti- shower, girl friend lunch today and it was really really lovely. Lots of laughing and indulgent birth stories.

MissLurkalot · 06/04/2013 23:07

Congratulations MooLL. So glad all is well. x

SevenReasonsToSmile · 07/04/2013 10:09

elly can't believe this time next week you'll have your baby! I'd take a book or couple of magazines in with you just to try to take your mind off it while you're waiting.

bood glad your anti-shower went well :)

beaver I've PM'd you about the FB group. Was it you whose sister MC'd during the early part of our pregnancies and it was making things awkward?

I had some pains in my bump this morning so I'm on DHs orders to take it easy today. They weren't like contractions and have stopped now, plus baby moving ok so I don't think it's anything to worry about. It's made MD realise I should really pack my bag though!

It's only 2 weeks until DH runs the London marathon. Muscular Dystrophy (who he's running for as 4yo DS has it) are giving away grand stand seats on the mall to their runners who get the most money in by Friday. He's up to just over £3000, really hoping its enough for him to win me a seat so I don't have to spend 5 hours waddling round central London on my own. I won't be cheeky and link to his just giving page, unless anyone wants to sponsor him then just ask and I will :)

OP posts:
DXBMermaid · 07/04/2013 12:08

Hi I'm also not on the FB thread. Seven ,could you please PM me the link? And wish you DH good luck with the marathon! No need to waddle for five hours, thankfully in London you are never very far from a Starbucks or some such and they have very comfy seats Smile

Had another great ante-natal class yesterday. Am really enjoying them. This one was about pain-relief. I now know I don't want pethidine at all, will consider an epidural as a last resort, will try and rent or buy a TENS machine and have been give breathing exercises to practice with DH, while holding ice-cubes (to simulate pain/discomfort). Also ordered an EPI-NO today. Quite controversial, but I found this article and that convinced me, together with reading experiences on the website and listening to the midwife. www.promaternity.com/pdf_downloads/Kovacs_Studie.pdf

Beaver I hope you are okay again. Must have been awful getting into an accident twice! I am seriously noticing that my reactions are a lot slower while driving so have slowed down considerably and am trying to avoid driving in the dark.

Elly good luck with the countdown!

Bood I like you anti-shower idea a lot!! Might go for high-tea with some of the girls as long as there are no games or presents.

Bunnychan · 08/04/2013 07:32

Why is it that I can no longer sleep if I'm vaguely aware that I have something to do? I can't book appointments at 1.30 am so why do I wake up thinking about then for hours on end...argh! Confused
I'm meeting a friend for breakfast this morning and feel crap because of my rubbish sleep, please tell me it won't get any worse over the next 6 weeks?
On another note, I'm really annoyed at my GP. I saw her at 30/31 weeks and asked her about the whooping cough jab. She told me the midwife gives it so as I knew my midwife was away on holiday and left it. Last week I text her and she replied yesterday to say that you get from the doctors!!! If the doc had told me that, I'd have booked it straight away.

Sorry for my little rant. Hope you're all ok! Good look Ellie!

Bunnychan · 08/04/2013 07:32

Luck even..omg, give up now! X

aberjen · 08/04/2013 07:56

Awww bunny I know exactly what you mean! That was me a few weeks ago - I found it helpful to physically make a list (in the middle of the night), I think part of my worry was that I would forget the thing I was brooding on otherwise.

For the whooping cough jab, can you ask your surgery reception who you need to make the appointment with? I've found they often have a better idea of who does what than the GPs do... I had to see one of the nurses.

Trying to make myself get up for work, but I'm sooooo cozy. Have also completely checked out mentally. 13 working days to go!

33+4 - I feel so far behind everyone else!

MaybeAMayBaby · 08/04/2013 08:08

Hi ladies,
Been a while. I can't possibly catch up. I hope everyone is ok and enjoying their last few weeks. I see some of you are suffering with sleep issues. Ha! I'm averaging 4-5 hours a night due to expressing and there's no baby here!

Elly, a massive good luck. I didn't have to starve really. Just for the last 6 hours before hand. I had lunch! Then had her at 8pm ( but no one knew what time it would be). I also didn't have an mrsa swab or wash. But they also didn't mention stockings before, during or after-and I gather that's unusual. If I ever do this again (highly unlikely) I'd want a section. Recovery has been easy after the first day after.

Alice is doing fab! We are off to register this morning. Alice Mary (after my DHs aunt, who I also a preemie and celebrated her 89th birthday the week after Alice was born-good sign). She is very slowly putting on weight (way too slowly for my liking) but is very anaemic. They're not treating it yet as she is not showing any symptoms other than being pale. She is very active and alert and is now getting the hang of feeding, both from the breast and bottle. Last weight she was 2lbs 9, but they weighed her last night so I'm hoping for good news. She seems to suffer with wind badly (but again no one seems worried-it's only me that seems to notice).

What mattresses have you ladies bought? I'm going to get a crib and mattress this week as mothercare have 20% off. But not sure what to get. I've been reading about the sleepcurve mattress. It sounds great, especially as it supposedly keeps airways open (something I am petrified of) and helps prevent flat head syndrome. But I'm worried it's just a gimmick and it'll be found to be unsafe or something. Also, has anyone bought any of the newborn sleep pod things? I used blankets until she went into sleep bag last time, but these look good.

Can't believe you are all going to start meeting your babies. I'm looking forward to all the birth announcements. I wonder if anyone will get the opposite to what you expect! Huge good luck again, Elly. X

SevenReasonsToSmile · 08/04/2013 09:40

bunny my whooping cough jab was done by one of the nurses at the surgery.

maybe glad to hear that Alice is doing so well.

I'm not convinced by those SleepCurve mattresses tbh, just a bit too new for my liking, though I'm sure they wouldn't sell them if they weren't proven safe. Bear in mind that you'd have to use sleeping bags as if you put them in the feet to foot position with blankets it would defy the point of the mattress. Also no point getting one of those for a cot mattress as they wriggle around so much when theyre bigger! DS had a terrible flat head, but I carried DD around a lot in a wrap which also helps prevent it, I'll be doing the same this time. I'm happy to spend more on the cotbed mattress as it'll be used for a few years, but I only buy foam Moses basket and crib mattresses, I don't see the point spending loads on a mattress that'll only be used for 4-5 months, especially as they recommend new mattresses each time so they have no second hand value. In fact we moved DD out of the crib in our room into the cot in her own room at 6 weeks as she was such a terrible sleeper, wouldn't have been happy if it was an expensive mattress.

Wirrawoo · 08/04/2013 10:11

Hi maybe so glad Alice is doing so well, hope her wind calms down soon poor little thing! You were asking about mattresses... I geekier out researching the various mothercare ones and we went for the hypo-allergenic one that seemed best for easy breathing, bit more expensive but am a bit paranoid about allergies & breathing difficulties etc. DP's Dad bought it for us for Christmas actually. Can't remember the exact model number as my stupid iPad somehow deleted my mega detailed list of all the baby stuff we had bought, borrowed, been given & had to get the other day but will have a look on it and see if I can find out. We got the only mattress we could see for Moses baskets there but he won't be sleeping in that at night anyway so it's just for naps and being in the living room with me during the day. Would be really interested to hear more about your c-section recovery (just in case it happens that way!).

elly good luck! So excited for you. Keep us updated Smile

beaver your wedding sounded perfect Smile if my folks still lived at our old place in Dorset we would totally do it there but alas that house is long gone. Sorry to hear about your car prangs, they are always a nasty experience, not surprised at wibbly lips. Thanks Brew
