Oh flying it must be so stressful having all that bleeding. Have a nice easy day with your feet up.
Re names, our boys all have Scottish names (plus Scottish middle names) so we are kind of running out now. I'm forever on baby names forum and various other sites looking for inspiration. A girls name might be easier as we've never had to use one! But we have different ideas for that too! We are definitely not finding out so we better have some clear ideas by the summer

dinkystinky · 02/02/2013 14:52

Glad all ok now Twirlie - hope the nausea etc goes soon.

CitizenOscar - I'm hindu and we give our children hindu middle names. I absolutely love Milan for a boy but DH has vetoed (twice so far - suspect he'll veto again this time) on the grounds people might think its pretentious and named after the place, despite being a proper hindu boys name. One persons normal is another's pretentious it seems. Both my boys go to the local state school (DS2 is in nursery there) and there is a real mixture of names - posh, run of the mill and v unusual - so I suspect you probably get away with flouncy names if you find one you really love.

Flying- sending you big hugs my dear. I prescribe a snooze and a good laugh out loud comedy (one of your old faves or a new one) to cheer you up.

My 20 week scan is this coming Thursday - not entirely sure if we'll find out the sex or not as we know this is for sure our last. I foolishly agreed to a name I vetoed last time round if its a boy (though may have to work on DH on that) when pregnant with DS2... kind of hoping its a girl as a result purely for that reason, while the rest of me would love another little boy (just not one I have to name that name...).

dinkystinky · 02/02/2013 14:53

BadmissM - we had a Maclaren Quest as our out and about buggy for DS2. Loved it - v light, small and v easy to manouevre.

mysterymeg · 02/02/2013 14:54

So much for just looking... I ordered a pram Blush

Thinkingof4 · 02/02/2013 14:55

Sounds like a great bargain badmissm !

dinkystinky · 02/02/2013 14:57

Mysterymeg - which one did you go for? Re your serum screening test results - in my area they call if the results are bad. I assume the same in your area so you know they arent concerned. Best thing to do would be to put it out of your mind. Second best thing to do - if you are going to worry - is to ask your MW to explain the results to you -they should have all the details on the system.

BadMissM · 02/02/2013 15:07

mysterymeg What did you get??

I nearly went for a pram/seat/etc combo before the Maclaren, until I saw the unladen weight was a whopping 18.6 kg to the Maclaren's 6.1kg. I have pain problems anyway....

dinky Small light and easy to manoeuvre was exactly my remit!

TBH there aren't that many purely English names I like. Currently living in small town in North of England, so what would pass where I grew up (London), won't so much here.... Think Milan is a lovely name...

Am getting to the point I want another girl just to avoid arguments over the boys' names!

photographerlady · 02/02/2013 15:18

flying Irish names huh? May I recommend Colleen. I'm biased though, it's served me well for 30 years heehe.

MightBeMad · 02/02/2013 15:30

Flying my vote would go for Aoife! I think it's a gorgeous name. And certainly around these parts (south east) I reckon most people would know how to spell/pronounce it.

V envious of the buggy purchasing. We're waiting until 4th march (anomaly scan day). And yes, we're going to find out the gender. Mostly to narrow name arguments one sex!

MrsRoss26 · 02/02/2013 15:47

You've all convinced me to log on to Boots - amazing prices! Hoping to find something I love.

We bought a baby name book this morning (our first baby purchase!) and DH is currently running through 40,000 names - and vetoing ALL of them!! This does not bode well... We're hoping to find nice Welsh names, for either first or second names.

We're not going to find out the gender if we can avoid it as it'll be nice to have a surprise. But this name issue may prove to change our minds... scan early March so we shall see!

flyingsprocket · 02/02/2013 17:10

mightbe I love Aoife too but it's my sister's name Grin

Supershiv1 · 02/02/2013 17:25

Irish names: Siobhan is great! (I would say that...... Wink)

mysterymeg · 02/02/2013 17:27

dinky I know you're right re screening I just wanted a normal result lol. My husband reckons my underlying medical issues may have skewed the results (amongst other things I only have one kidney).

dinky and badmissm Im getting an icandy peach jogger which I am totally in love with Grin and it even fits in my diddy boot! It's so easy to fold and change the attachments etc. Although a bit weighty the shoulder strap makes it easy to lift to get in the car and the seat bit is really light.
I know it's a bit early to buy but I got over excited!!

17 + 1

mysterymeg · 02/02/2013 17:28

Ooh mightbemad Aoife is on our shortlist Smile

TomDaleysTrunks · 02/02/2013 17:55

Ooh names! We have tentatively started discussing names. We had no boys names last time so it was just as well dd turned out to be a girl. I like Thea for a girl, it's number one at the moment. Dh likes Huw for a boy, I'm not sure.

TomDaleysTrunks · 02/02/2013 17:56

Oh and I love Aoife!

specialknickers · 02/02/2013 17:58

badmissm did you pick your quest up in store? I've just looked on the website and the cheapest one is £175, am I missing something?

Always regret not getting a quest for ds1, bought an obaby instead. Total rubbish... Really heavy, hard to steer, not worth the 50 quid I spent on it!

In other news, we've just bought a new car in readiness for ds2... Massive boot, five star safety rating... I'm really exited. We've been carting ourselves round in a 25 year old camper van and its sooooo hard to steer and park. Can't wait to get my hands on power steering and parking sensors!!!!

TotallyEggFlipped · 02/02/2013 19:48

flying I think a lot of Irish names are 'common' enough in the UK to no longer cause any more of a problem than any other name - Niamh, Orla, Aoife, Siobhan are all well known these days.

TotallyEggFlipped · 02/02/2013 19:49

I'm getting serious buggy buying envy.

Cutandstick · 02/02/2013 19:55

Just tucking in to a chocolate cake I've made (been fantasing about it for days and finally cooked!) nom nom!
cheese and run our head seems to have a policy of 'you go public I put it in the newsletter'.... So most teachers knew the week after Xmas and I had to keep it from TAs as a lot of ours are parents. I was going to wait til 20 weeks, but couldn't disguise bump for that long (plus the size of my boobs meant shirts were cutting off the circulation under my arms Blush ).... So published to all at 17 weeks. I think it's to stop gossip, and promote the propaganda of school being a 'loving family' (dripping sarcasm after the week I've had!)

SlouchingPanda · 02/02/2013 21:11

Feel well behind with all this buggy buying and talk of names. I have adjusted to the fact that I'm pregnant and working up to the idea that there might be a baby at the end of it.

I have, however, relented and bought some maternity clothes after a trip to the big smoke. I am crap at online shopping so wanted to go in and try things on. Apologies to non-south east types, but I can report that Topshop in Oxford Circus and H&M on Recent Street have reasonable in store ranges. Also found bits in New Look and Gap just east of Oxford Circus. Anyway, maternity trousers are so comfy, and picked up some bump bands which will hopefully keep me in my regular clothes a bit longer.

17+2 and looking a bit pregnant now!

MightBeMad · 02/02/2013 21:12

Aw Aoife, Colleen, Siobhan, Orlagh, Niamh... I can jut imagine these cute little people running round our homes in the months and years to come Blush

MightBeMad · 02/02/2013 21:13

Ps I'm not Irish, nor do I have any Irish connection, so substitute something plain old boring English in our house, but you know what I mean!!

dinkystinky · 02/02/2013 21:30

Slouching - the way I look at it, getting into maternity wear earlier simply means you get more use out of the stuff - so better value for money!

Mightbemad - no Irish names in our household either. My sister is married to an Irish guy (v Irish, youngest of 9!) So expect my nephews and nieces in the future to have lovely Irish names too though. Still trying to come up with another boys name both DH and I like - proving tough....

MarieKL · 02/02/2013 21:51

Flying sorry to hear you're still bleeding. You must be so feed up. I hope the name choosing gives you something else to think about.

We're similar to Citizen, only one boys name we both like and we used that for DS. We're going to wait till the birth to find out. I know I'll be going crazy with wondering towards the end, but I also know how much I enjoyed not knowing with DS. Mind you as DS keeps declaring, "I might be a big brother, I might be a big sister" there is an argument for finding out sooner Smile

Any name ideas greatly appreciated. Would love a rare but English sounding name. Otherwise we'll just have to default to our cats names, Charlotte and Slyvester!!!
