Thanks sarah & jojo for the thread title. :)

Christilass - both of my two were late but not all first times are so it could be anytime. It's great that you're feeling calm, definitely nothing to worry about I don't think. Good luck Smile.

GrottyPotPlant · 26/02/2013 18:11

Congrats zoey manda and count!
(I'm a Jenny come lately with the congrats...) zoey 36 weeks is fantastic! You must have been so pleased! But infections don't sound so good, I hope you are being well looked after, and get well very very soon.
manda one of each! They are so lovely!! Yay for the 50mls- may your supply go from strength to strength! It sounds like a very stressful start, but looking good now?
And count those must have been some mighty Braxton hicks, tee hee! Yay for walking about.

Well, I had a very tiresome day. I had my 40 week midwife appointment this morning, and she didn't like my blood pressure, so Sent me up to the hospital, and they didn't like it either. Doesn't look like pre eclampsia, thank goodness, but I'm on beta blockers now, and need to give them a day's worth of wee to test, and they want him out sooner rather than later, so they've booked an induction for next Tuesday. And I am no longer as low risk as I was, so birth choices are a little more limited. Never mind...

jojo you must be climbing the walls by now! Have you got an induction booked? Thinking of you!!

Ooh plonko cleaning and gathering provisions you say? And a show- lots of good sings!!

JoJoBella84 · 26/02/2013 18:48

plonko and grotty still here :/
I had my second sweep this afternoon which has left me a little bit crampy but nothing I would describe as contraction yet! I don't want to get my hopes up too much about it working as I was so gutted last week when nothing happened!
I'm 9 days over today and will be induced on Friday at 2pm so should definitely be a mummy by the weekend :)
I'm generally quite uncomfortable, with swollen feet and ankles, sore hips, waddling walk, cervix headbutts, kicks to the ribcage and disturbed sleep including 56 point turns in order to turn over in bed!!
This lazy boy cannot arrive soon enough!!

Emsyboo · 26/02/2013 19:39

Congratulations count well done thought you were quiet after those Braxton Hicks Wink
It's getting very exciting on here at the moment lots of babies popping up
My money is on soyo next hopefully and a few overdue!
Really feel for you those of you who are 40 weeks + must be getting hard waiting!

Emsyboo · 26/02/2013 19:42

jojobella good luck hope your cramps turn to contractions and if you do get induced it's quick but don't guarantee it I started being induced on a Thursday didn't have DS till Monday morning-stubborn little boy. Get plenty of rest when you can but hopefully will come before that on his own x x

shieldbug · 26/02/2013 23:20

Wow; so much amazing news in a short time!
count congratulations! Didn't sound like much fun but it's over now.
manda your twins are so gorgeous. Well done! I think 50ml expressed is doing pretty well too- even topping up formula will have a good effect I'm sure. Don't let yourself feel bad about anything to do with feeding; things don't always work out as we would like and any bfing you can achieve is a bonus.
jojo good luck; hope it all happens soon for you. Even though your baby may be taking its time, labour may still be quick; ds was 12 days late but fired out once he'd made the decision to appear!
SoYo good luck as well. Hope all goes smoothly for you.
plonko fx for news soon!

mandasand · 27/02/2013 02:23

thanks for the congrats, ladies! we feel very, very lucky Smile good luck to those about to give birth! xx

pudtat · 27/02/2013 07:29

Ooh, so much so news in one day! Congrats to everyone who is now a proud parent - amazing stuff!

Love the pics manda they are very sweet, and good sizes too for twins. Hope BF gets into the swing for you soon, though as their tummies are so tiny ATM 50ml will go quite a long way.

Had my 36 week mid wife appt yesterday. Baby seems to have put in one hell of a growth spurt (perhaps explains the onset of niggles recently - thanks for all the sympathy btw!) and is 2/5 engaged now. MW: "I wouldn't be surprised if this one turned up early". Anyone else had similar comments?

Must pack bag, must finish putting lounge/hallway/spare room back together. Must decorate nursery, must order new mattresses for cot/moses basket!

FurryFox · 27/02/2013 09:23

pudcat at my 38 wk mw app last Friday mw said baby was 2/5 engaged but said she might pop out again as its dc3 and as my last two were two weeks over and were induced she did a face that made me think she thought this one might be late too, I hope not! Is this your first dc? Good luck getting everything finished, I think I'm just about done.

Sheldonella · 27/02/2013 09:25

Hi everyone, not posted for a while as sleep has become impossible and I'm just so tired! Congrats to the new arrivals, it is lovely to see them all coming :) I'm 38+4 now and I don't think it is going to happen any time soon but I can hope.

pudtat Mine must have had a growth spurt by my 36 week appointment as my height measurement went up 5cm from the 34 week one. No comments on coming early though although we can hope.

leni Those pics are fascinating, thanks for sharing.

I will have a proper read now. Hope you all are having comfortable days :)

FurryFox · 27/02/2013 09:26

Sorry pudtat, not pudcat

Oodsigma · 27/02/2013 09:32

Been up since 12. Head scrambled now. Having haircut at 11 so can't sleep until after that.

plonko · 27/02/2013 10:35

Pudtat my midwife made similar comments. Hit 40 weeks today and hoping every niggle is a sign!

Ood you don't sound too happy. Enjoy your haircut then go and get some rest.

Jojo you must be so fed up. Have your niggling pains turned into anything more substantial? Like you say at least you'll have your baby by the weekend even if you do end up being induced.

Had a v disturbed night full of period pain and backache. Praying this is really The Start now as I can't take many more nights like the last. Think I need a big bowl of chocolate shreddies to cheer myself up. Booked in for a sweep tomorrow so hopefully things will get moving - am crossing everything that they do!

leniwhite · 27/02/2013 11:29

Pudtat I haven't even had a checkup since 34 weeks so no idea about growth or how engaged he is... Is this normal?

I don't think I can last until 40 weeks! Let alone go over... Drinking some raspberry leaf tea right now!

At BF class we were shown marbles to represent the size of a newborn's tummy, so tiny! Were also advised to store milk in the freezer in ice cube trays?! As milk bags are too big, then you can use a syringe for any extra without nipple confusion. Doesn't seem very hygienic, plus I can imagine someone ruining a nice G&T with a breast milk ice cube...

FurryFox · 27/02/2013 12:18

Leni I have had mw apps every four weeks since 16 weeks and then from 36 weeks they went to every two weeks but not sure what the norm is.

christilass · 27/02/2013 12:33

I've had midwife appointments every 2 weeks since week 30.. I'm now 39+4 ... I'm a green pathway of care and 40 years old ..1st pregnancy .

Oodsigma · 27/02/2013 13:05

I've been having weekly since 32 fortnightly before that. I'm high risk and now 37 weeks.

OP posts:
leniwhite · 27/02/2013 13:41

Blimey, i was high risk before 34 weeks but didn't see anyone from 16 to 24 weeks!

Now not seeing anyone between 34 and past due date either. Even at low risk it seems odd as getting a gp appt is not easy here.

Guess it's lucky that so far I haven't had any problems as I overheard reception saying the helpline was down last time I was waiting in the antenatal clinic.

Oodsigma · 27/02/2013 14:00

All mine have been consultant ones not MW/GP maybe that's why

JoJoBella84 · 27/02/2013 15:06

plonko no progression here. He's going to stay put until he's forced out on Friday!
On the plus side both of my sweeps were positive and my cervix is favourable, soft and very short so I'm hoping the induction process won't be a long drawn out affair :)

Emsyboo · 27/02/2013 15:20

jojo good news your cervix is favourable that's half the battle fingers crossed it will be soon
leni that seems a long time to go without an appointment women are constantly coming into the ward with high blood pressure they feel fine and are annoyed at coming in but end up on medication someone should be regularly checking these things for you.

leniwhite · 27/02/2013 16:18

Emsy how you getting on?

I just had a call from my gp surgery (i did some complaining) and there's a community midwife I could've been seeing all along... Normally for people at Ealing hospital but they're fine to see me as I live in the same postcode. Why on earth this wasn't an option before I have no idea Hmm

The midwife seemed lovely on the phone too, oh well, at least if I go overdue I'll have someone to check up on me rather than trusting the awful antenatal at QCCH??.

Jojo - how do they know when a sweep is favourable? I have no clue what they do other than it having something to do with membranes...

JoJoBella84 · 27/02/2013 18:27

leni if when they perform the sweep your cervix feels long (3cm+) and firm it's not very easy to perform. Mine was less than 1cm and soft, also (and I don't know how important this is) the midwife could insert two fingers into my cervix and touch the baby's head. Despite having two fairly straightforward non painful sweeps they've both failed.. Boo!
Ah well, Friday is nearly here :)

Emsyboo · 27/02/2013 20:29

leni I am relieved you have someone to see got very worried for a bit in case you need someone good she sounds nice then you are more likely to see her and contact her if you need them

Tomorrow is the day c section booked nil
by mouth and about to have some preventative antibiotics still on the ward do all the midwives are counting down with me lol fingers crossed all goes well and I manage to get some sleep! X

Oodsigma · 27/02/2013 20:46

Good luck emsy :)
