All this talk of pushchairs makes me think we need to decide what we are going to buy. I sold our Phil 'n' Teds over the weekend. I loved it when we needed it for DD2 and for DD1 to jump in and out of but now I want something with a carrycot and with a pushchair unit that faces backwards as well as forwards. But I also want it to fit a car seat that will then slot straight into the base in the car - I think this is all I want! I don't mind what colour - we don't know what we are having but this is definitely going to be the last DC for us. So I guess I also want something that will sell on well too.
I tend to carry DC in a sling most of the time but we need a buggy as an option and DP is not such a baby-wearer. Well, he is but he has always used a structured carrier whereas i just wrap and go!
On a totally different note, I saw the MW today and am exactly borderline for Gestational Diabetes. There was no flag on the screen and no one had contacted me so her initial thought was that they had decided to just leave it and see if any other markers came up. There was no glucose in my wee and the other MW who was there, they often work in pairs, said it must be fine.
However, MW1 - who has been my MW through DD1 and DD2 - decided to call the diabetes clinic there and then because of the likelihood of DC3 coming early like my other two.
So that changed everything - now they are referring me to the diabetes clinic and I will get a call tomorrow to set up an appointment. The I will have to see the consultant - again, as I am already high risk with my spontaneous preemies - and then they will refer me to a dietician to go through foods to eat and avoid etc.
Then we will have a chat about when I could start expressing - MW2 thought probably about 36 weeks.
Then we were discussing the likelihood that they will not want me to go to term and will look to induce at around 38 weeks.
MW1 found this rather funny - as though I will still be carrying this DC at 36 weeks, yet alone 38! I did say that surely it was possible and she said that, of course, it was possible, but realistically it is very unlikely. I am now seeing the MW every 2 weeks and will have extra scans until DC puts in an appearance.
A quick bit of research with Dr Google seems to show that the increased hormones is likely to be the cause of GD, especially oestrogen and progesterone. And of course, I am 'taking' daily progesterone pessaries in a research project to try to avoid premature delivery. Looks like a rock and a hard place
Still, only 14 work days to go and 3 of them should be at home and 1 is an INSET day. And then there looks like being more time off for antenatal appointments....
But it is so good to read about everyone else's days - and especially to see how well Alex is doing Mama - imagine him being ready to go home next month
Have they given any idea about when they expect you to be able to head home? What will/would happen to Alex if he is ready before you?
