Having a lovely weekend here :) we have been to Yorkshire Air Museum which DD loved & just stood outside waiting for DH to get back from car wash after popping in for the Huggies offer- THANK YOU whoever mentioned that Thanks
I LOVE their wipes (only ones we really use) but I agree Dysgu they are a totally different feel & texture to other wipes. We actually used reusable wipes (Cheeky wipes) until I went back to work alongside cloth nappies but at that point switched back as it just wasn't worth putting the washing machine on every 3-4 days for about 6 nappies and a few wipes.

I have been convinced this baby is breech for a while as I can feel something hard up under my right ribs and flutters in my pelvis. It is very uncomfortable when it moves it's head but I don't have the pressure in my bladder that I remember from DD. I cheekily got the midwife to have a quick feel on Friday and she agreed. Oh well. Plenty of time for it to turn & will opt for ECV if not turned by 37 weeks. Just annoying as with DH going away for four to six months a few weeks after the birth plus a toddler a C Section would be a disaster.

Faith we have a moving date! 2.04.2013 (I know my due date is 5.04.2013) will pm you.

Hi everyone, Thankyou fluffeh for the tip on getting the uber expensive nipple cream on prescription - I'm definitely going to ask at my 32 week MW appointment.

mrssimpkins I hadn't even considered a breast pump but perhaps I'll wait til the LO arrives.

I had big plans to start packing my hospital bag today (I'm 31 weeks tomorrow and planned to have it semi done by 30 weeks) but DP moved all the baby bits out of the baby room into another room yesterday. He moved it all so he could paint the walls but then started to feel really unwell - he is currently asleep on the sofa. He's hardly ever ill, but he looks terrible. Trouble is all the baby stuff is now in total chaos and I can't get to anything. I haven't the heart or inclination to wake him to ask him to help me move stuff so I'm distracting myself with mumsnet instead Smile. Surely the hospital bag can wait one more weekend...

Im sorry to read some of you have been struggling with colds and flu. Has anyone had the whooping cough jab yet? Any side effects? I'm booked in for mine next week. One of my friends said she felt quite rough afterwards. I caught flu immediately after the flu jab, so I have to say I'm not wholly looking forward to it...

Msbluesky32 · 03/02/2013 14:15

Toobreathless* you are due two days before me, mine is definitely breech and I have been fretting about it a bit too (mainly because I'm pretty fearful of having to have a section). I had a hypnobirthing class today and my course teacher is also a midwife and she was really reassuring - we have time! If you are really worried I found a website called spinning babies and there are some great exercises on there. Apparently though scrubbing the floors on your hands and knees is the best position to make the baby move. I think I might be leaving that one a couple more weeks !

JaquelineHyde · 03/02/2013 14:45

Hello everyone, well it was my birthday yesterday and I am knackered from it.

I had family here from just before 12 and the last ones didn't leave until gone 7pm!

All in all though considering that there were 9 adults and 9 children running riot it went pretty damn well.

Today I am recovering, feet up on the sofa, staying in my PJs catching up on my tv programmes. DH is making a curry for dinner and the children are keeping out of my way playing quietly.

Back to organising the house this week which is nearly done as last week we managed to gut the chuldren's and our own bedroom and so now really just need to make a few trips to the tip and sort the outhouse and utility room, then we are done!

I'm also hoping to test drive a few 7 seaters this week...does anyone have a 7 seater or have any advice about them as I am clueless when it comes to cars.

Happy belated birthday Jaqueline! Hope you had a great day though it sounds rather exhausting.

toobreathless, thanks for the reassurance. I would be delighted if LO turns out to be as relaxed as your DD.

mrs simkins I'm not bothering with a breast pump until later on when I know whether BF is going to work for baby.

Everyone seems very organised on the hospital bag front, I must get that organised. What are people using for hospital bag? I don't have a suitably sized bag so may need to buy one but don't want to fork out on anything expensive.

Dysgu · 03/02/2013 16:53

Happy Birthday for yesterday JH glad it all went well and that you are managing to have a relaxing, easy day today.

We changed our car last month in preparation for DC3 coming along - we needed something to fit all three across easily. After a lot of research - mostly done by DP and my dad, we settled on the Toyota Corolla Verso and we really love it Smile

Ours is not a brand new one as we did not want to spend huge amounts of money in case I decide I am not going back to work F/T but all the reviews we read were fabulous and since picking it up, we have spoken to lots of other Toyota owners who seem to have nothing but good things to say.

The biggest positive about this car is that generally we will only need 5 seats and so all of us are in the main body of the car - I did not really want to have to put any of the DCs in the back row of seats on a permanent basis. DD1 especially loves the pop-up built-in booster seats (although we will buy her a booster with a back for long journeys on holiday as I still feel they are safer but all the research says the built in ones are as safe as normal seat booster cushions. At the moment, even at 28+ weeks PG, I can sit in the middle seat between the DDs and my hips and thighs are nowhere near touching them - result as I am rather 'broad in the beam' Grin

We seem to be averaging about 34-37mph on normal driving roads.

Others we looked at that I can recall included: Citreon Picasso, Renault Scenic, Renault Espace, Ford s-max.

Belated happy birthday JH!

LikeCandy · 03/02/2013 18:13

Hi all!
Happy belated b'day JH

Had a decent shopping morning, got a few bargains.
Asda:
2 x plain cot sheets £1.75 (blue, but for that price, who cares?!)
2 x patterned cot sheets £3.50 (pink hearts, v cute)
2 x hand towels, to be baby towels, in salmon pink with large cream polka dots (v Cath Kidston-esque) £2.50 each
Sainsburys:
2 x 0-3m sleep suits £2.40 (£8 reduced to £4 went through at even less)
2 x 3-6m sleep suits £2.40
2 x 3-6m sleep suits £1.19 (reduced as packaging damaged!)
Loads of tiny baby/newborn sizes for super cheap prices in their sale if anyone is in need.

Also got 8 muslins (Is this enough?! A lot of what I've read says get as many as possible)

I hope everyone has made the most of the weekend?
I have 6 weeks at work left starting tomorrow, but only 21 days in total as I'm using up holiday! Feels so close yet so far!

Hi all, they seemed to have a different offer when I went in sainsburys today. Got my free huggies mum and baby bundle with pack of huggies newborn. The newborn nappies were 2 for price of 1 so got two economy packs plus the bundle for £8.99. Good deal!

SneezySnatcher · 03/02/2013 19:34

Just need to say nine days left!!!!!

Hallelujah!

growyourown77 · 03/02/2013 20:26

Thanks for all the tips on supermarket deals - I got the free huggies bundle yesterday, which has much better stuff than the Bounty packs. Picked up two of the three free packs from Emma's Diary today too, again - free nappies, wipes, Cocoa Butter, loads of Johnson's small versions...PLus the free changing bag from the Boots parenting club, so a great haul overall!

Happy birthday for yesterday Jaqueline. Sounds like you had your hands ( and house) full, but coped ok. Well done on DH making your tea and putting your feet up!

It my birthday today and we went for our 3D/4D scan this morning (£47 on a Groupon deal!). She was all scrunched up in a crazy yoga pose so it took ages to get to see her face, but we finally got some good semi profile shots and a great DVD showing her sucking her arm and waving her legs around. Pretty cool. I'll stick a pic on FBook.

Happy birthday gyo77 (so many birthdays recently!) the scan sounds fab, lucky you!

birdbrain17 · 03/02/2013 21:03

wow sounds like everyone has cheered up a bit this weekend which is great Smile
I had a lovely day today shopping with mil but am absolutely knackered now! We now have everything that we need for the baby to get us through at least the first few weeks, when we can then go and get anything else we need. She also treated me to a gorgeous new maternity top from debenhams as I only have two tops suitable for work that fit, so i reckon with 3 I can manage for a few more weeks if I keep washing! also got a v pillow so hopefully I will actually manage to sleep tonight, I'll update to let you know if it helps. All I need to get now is a couple of nighties/p.js that open down the front for bf (any recommendations where to get from?), a long t-shirt or something for labour, bigger sized knickers for after birth and nursing bras (although the assistant in mothercare said buy them after 36 weeks when the baby has dropped so they can check if it fits properly...)
getting really excited now, 2 weeks at work then off on holiday in half term for a week then 4 more weeks till maternity leave Grin

also just remembered found out today that my sil who has been having ivf for a few years is pregnant! she's only 9 weeks so officially we haven't been told yet but my mil let it slip by mistake, so happy as I felt so awkward everytime anyone mentioned anything about the baby but now hopefully by the time our little one arrives she'll be nearly 20 weeks...

EssexWelsh · 03/02/2013 21:30

Quick q, just been given a load if baby clothes, so need to wash them, is there any special rules about washing detergent, non bio or the like and can I use fabric softener, thanks, I am a total novice!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 03/02/2013 21:36

Aw how lovely bird! I hope it all goes smoothly for her.

essex I believe it's better to use a gentler detergent. I was thinking about fairy non-bio myself. I don't think you are meant to use fabric softener but I'm not sure?!

Ollibobs · 03/02/2013 22:17

What great news about your DSIL bird! Hope it all goes well for her. IVF is gruelling!

I love hearing how everyone is getting prepared! Eek! Its not long now really. Makes me think I better get sorting out the hospital bag.

Stupid question alert: when it comes to labour, what does one wear? A big Tshirt or a nightie? Also how many pads do I need to pack for the hospital? At the moment, I seem to be packing enough to stop a flood... Shock

Also, is anyone with SPD being followed by a consultant and been suggested that a CS is the best option?

28+4

bunnygirl80 · 04/02/2013 00:12

ollibobs you can wear what you like in labour.....lots of people end up totally naked anyway Grin I wore a nightie, but a big t shirt would do just as well. It ended up going in the bin afterwards as there was "gunk" on it as my DH politely described it. I wouldn't bother with anything expensive, or a favourite item of clothing just in case it gets ruined. As for pads, it's probably best to prepare for a flood Grin I'm packing 3 packs, but I get a four night stay, if you're expecting to be out after a day then you possibly won't need quite so many.

I've just remembered what one of my more useful purchases with DS was- one of these so you can see what they're up to in the back of the car.

MumofWombat · 04/02/2013 01:44

birdbrain my parents have just ordered me some maternity nightshirts from mothercare online. I couldn't find anything suitable here locally so asked them to keep a look out. I've still got a couple of pairs of pyjamas that are totally suitable for breastfeeding from last time, but as I know I'll be having a csection, I know I'll have a catheter in for a little while so a nightie will be more practical for the first couple of days. My parents will then bring everything out when they fly out in a few weeks time.
And bunnygirl I loved my mirror, for something so cheap it was so reassuring when out and about. I still use one for DS... Yep, I know pfb and all that! But perhaps if anyone has read the newspaper article on fb about my DS, my pfbness may be excused!
I still haven't packed my hospital bag, but I think I may have everything I need now (well, once my parents arrive anyway!).
The house has descended into near slum status again, and we are just about to run out of clothes unless I actually do some laundry (it's the thought of hanging it up and bringing it back in in 38 degrees that is putting me off), but as DS has a swimming lesson in a little while I can ignore it all for the rest of the morning. I'd love to one of the types that gets all nesting and can't stop cleaning but I think I'm the wanting to be lazy and lie on the sofa eating chocolate type of pregnant person!
Best go and get ready for a dip in the pool!

LikeCandy · 04/02/2013 05:54

essex I've read that you should use non bio detergent, and use half the suggested amount, no fabric conditioner. I think this is so there is no/minimal residue left on the clothes?!

ollibobs I was wondering that too. I was looking at nighties (and wondering if DH would donate a t shirt to the cause!!) but will also pack a bikini top in case I end up in the birthing pool. I've only bought 10 maternity pads at the moment, I think that may be a bit of an underestimate, should probably think about getting some more!

Teapig · 04/02/2013 08:15

Happy birthday grow! What gorgeous scan pic.

sneezy I am sooo jealous of you only having 9 days left at work. I've got six and a half weeks, I'm sure it will fly by but my motivation is on the floor.

Sounds like the supermarkets have some great bargains. Thanks for the tip on Primark trish, I'll check out their overnight bags and will also see if they have suitable nighties, big t-shirts and big undercrackers. Really with all this shopping to do I have no time to go to work.

essex re the washing question, I think the advice is to use non-bio. I washed some baby clothes at the weekend so I can pop them away. Sometimes I think they look so tiny and then I think about labour and they look pretty darn big!

Fluffeh · 04/02/2013 08:21

Oh heck all this talk of hospital bags is making me feel very unorganised! I haven't got a bag or anything to put in it.
I thought I'd wait until nearer the time but maybe I should start with the bag at least.
Have my gtt this morning so have to get on my way but happy birthday to everyone celebrating :).

bunnygirl80 · 04/02/2013 08:41

mumtowombat I've still got my mirror in the car for DS.....not so much because I'm pfb but because I don't trust him Grin I spotted that there's a wider version of the mirror available too, so you can see two children in car seats, although it'll only work once they're both forward facing.

I haven't started on hospital bag yet. I've started getting together bits and pieces for it, so I've got some pads, lasinoh, nipple shields etc, but haven't actually packed anything yet. With DS I was still chucking stuff in when we were heading out of the door with me in labour Grin

toobreathless · 04/02/2013 09:00

My last working day is tomorrow :) :) :)

WRT washing powders I think non bio is recommended but doubt it matters which brand. If you are going to use softener I would use a non scented one but we didn't. We have used Fairy non bio since DD was born but I never buy it full price, just wait till its half price in Sainsburys every 6 weeks or so and stock up then.

A warning about the liquitabs (all brands) they are potentially very dangerous as they can explode at even the slightest moisture on your hand (or if your toddler gets hold of one and squeezes) there have been cases of babies and children ending up on ventilators due to inhalation and with nasty burns. I don't use them as although I could put them in a high, lockable cupboard DD can't reach I might well be loading laundry with the new baby in the sling & I just don't think it's worth the risk. I am pretty relaxed in general too, no stair gates etc.

I started packing my bag yesterday, I took a ridiculous amount of stuff last time & will not be making that mistake again!
