Right bartlet you need to get your head back on ready to sneeze out that baby! Grin So exciting!! So are you planning to head straight to hospital if your waters go?
boo It must be a shock but you are a brooker and im sure you will take it all in your stride once you've had a few days to take it all in Thanks
little I was starting to feel the pressure too - my due dates not until 24th so it could well be a while. Still makes me go Shock when I hear about your DDs sneeze arrival! My DS took 44
hours after my waters went! Im hoping DC2 won't take quite so long because that would be a lot of sneezing! Hmm Grin
Its lovely to see Ttc and post-natal brookers popping in tho, so do keep coming, just don't expect too much from us yet! Grin

You do realise now that, after the big build up of a Giant Baby and a Sneeze Birth, I'm going to have a baby after 72 hours of labour and the baby is going to weigh 6lbs!

clickingtock · 12/02/2013 14:16

Good luck Bartlett, and all the tripe ladies. Thanks

clickingtock · 12/02/2013 14:19

Whims we shall be shadows of our former selves. Good luck. Thank goodness for slings is all I can say. How did our mums cope?

Can I ask if any of our generation of graduates are on the post grad thread? I don't feel like I know anyone there...Blush

RubberBullets · 12/02/2013 15:28

hurry up we are getting impatient

RubberBullets · 12/02/2013 15:29

Come over and say hello Tock we are a friendly bunch :)

whimsicalname · 12/02/2013 17:22

My mum actually had a sling tock. But we just used to get tucked into the pram and left in the garden for hours. I think people didn't used to have such high expectations.

GenericDietCola · 12/02/2013 19:46

Boo, sorry to hear re diabetes, but looks like you are getting good advice from the brookers and I am sure you will cope just fine.

Bartlett, I am brooking for your imminent sneeze birth!

Little, sorry you are suffering. Hope dp spoils you tonight.

Tock, me and stacks are on the postnatal Fred, but I am a rubbish poster at the mo! Hope you and whim get on well without your ohs.

On hols at the mo, getting well looked after by family and enjoying the snow. Boo, we are staying quite near you. DS is enjoying his first hol!

NewYearNewBoo · 12/02/2013 20:16

Aah hope you are having a lovely time, if I had known I would have ordered slightly warmer weather for you Gen :)

GenericDietCola · 12/02/2013 20:38

oh boo it is freezing here! but beautiful Smile

NewYearNewBoo · 13/02/2013 08:02

Good morning ladies, hope you are all well.
Bartlet brooking that you are snuggling Thanks

BartletForTeamGB · 13/02/2013 08:52

No BabyBart news here, I'm afraid. LOTS of show and lots of painful regular contractions (but closer to BHs than 'proper' ones) in the evening, but then I decided to have a lie down and a rest and they all went away! Hopefully it is all getting everything ready though.

NewYearNewBoo · 13/02/2013 10:28

Oh Bartlet it does sound like it will all be very soon. Is the mw visiting again today? Brooking for you.

BartletForTeamGB · 13/02/2013 10:39

No visit today. Next time I'm seen by anyone is Friday...

BartletForTeamGB · 13/02/2013 10:41

Are you feeling a bit better about things today, Boo?

NewYearNewBoo · 13/02/2013 10:41

BrewThanks

ScrambledSmegs · 13/02/2013 10:58

Oh bum, Bartlet. Hope it starts up properly soon.

Boo, I hope you're feeling better today?

NewYearNewBoo · 13/02/2013 11:13

I am feeling a bit better about it today thanks, it was such a shock yesterday I panicked a lot bit but it is only 11 weeks and 3 days until sneeze and I get all my blood sugar monitoring kit and info on Monday, so I am being careful and cautious this week and will actually know what I am doing by next week, then it is only temporary.

I will admit I felt very sorry for myself last night, I am overweight (but not massive, size 16/18 but tall too) I cook fresh, eat 50/50 bread not white, use brown rice and still go to the gym 2-3 times a week, and I just felt I was being punished for not losing more weight before my BFP and couldn't understand what I have done wrong (I thought I was being quite healthy) I think I still feel a bit like that :(

Sorry, that turned out to be a bit of a depressing me me me post. I shall pull my socks up and not do that again!!

TheLittleFriend · 13/02/2013 12:04

I feel for you Boo, it sounds like you lead a healthy lifestyle, so certainly not your fault that you've got this to deal with. But as you say, it's only temporary, and your sneeze is not far off Smile

Hoping things kick off for you properly today Bartlet. How are you feeling?

I've just had some very relaxing reflexology. She said that the pelvis/uterus point in my ankle was very swollen, indicating that I'm either about to give birth or my pelvis is going to crumble (not her exact words Wink). I would put money on one of those happening in the next few weeks!

BartletForTeamGB · 13/02/2013 12:20

Right, I think I am going to have to give you the same pep talk as I give a number of my patients! Smile

ScrambledSmegs · 13/02/2013 12:38

Bartlet, just a quick one as I have mad dead arm (baby sleeping on it). Can I ask, how do they know the baby's so big? Is it scans, your measurements, a combination etc?

It's just that I know someone who recently had an elective CS due to health issues - her first was too - but they were told that the baby was going to be 12lb by 38 weeks Shock so there was no way she'd have been allowed to give birth naturally. First baby was 10lb 4oz when born at just before 38 weeks, no GDM but tall parents.

This time the ECS was at 39 weeks gestation, and baby was also 10lbs 4oz and slightly shorter than older sibling was at birth. I wondered how they make their calculations, and how they could be so wrong - a few oz I can understand, but 2 whole pounds? In her case the hospital blamed her waters distorting the measurements, but surely they adjust for that?

I'm curious because in my case no one realised that DD2 would be the size she was (big for someone of my size) and in fact in all of my scans I was told that she was on the normal to ever so slightly small side Confused

NewYearNewBoo · 13/02/2013 12:55

I luffs Dr Bartlet, thank you, again. I know all the what if's in the world won't change it, I just need to get on with it now.

Talking of getting on with it Bartlet ............ Grin brooking it all starts off soon for you.

BartletForTeamGB · 13/02/2013 13:41

I'm measuring completely on my dates so fundal height has been perfect throughout. Had I not had growth scans already booked, then I would be happily waiting for my home birth. Every midwife who has examined me says I don't examine as large for dates or polyhydramnios!

I had growth scans from 34 weeks. My consultant is a nice, sensible chap and has said that growth scans as once offs are notoriously unreliable especially in later pregnancy and after 37 weeks, but what is concerning him is the trend. These measurements are certainly going up, both with growth and fluid, and the velocity of those measurements are going up.

He thinks part of it is my height (but I'm only a bit above average at 5ft6), and wasn't overly concerned. We were able to have a good chat about the risks. There are always risks of cord prolapse and shoulder dystocia with any labour of course, but these look to be increased with me, so I'm happy to have a hospital birth. If the scans are proved wrong and I have a normal-sized baby, that's grand and fine. We can only go on the information that have and make decisions about that, so I am okay with it all.
