Thought I would treat us un a festive thread

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
cartoontrickster · 11/02/2013 15:24

haha bartlett! I don't feel so bad now you've all confessed. its the only thing I struggle with really. I'm not a lover of cheese particularly. unless its cooked as a sauce, on pizza etc.
nor do I eat pate or fish, apart from fish fingers and scampi!
I thought most cheeses were fine as long as they were cooked? still wouldn't really want any strong stinky ones but that's just me.
I'm guessing our wine fix can come from food? most of its burnt off when cooking.

NewYearNewBoo · 11/02/2013 15:49

You are ok with most cheese Tricks it all goes back to what is pasturised. Soft ones like brie and camembert have not been pasturised so not considered safe for preggo's. Same as soft ice cream (like Mr whippy/Mcdonalds ice cream)

Mr boo is more concerned with it than me (he would hate to know I ate runny egg) and the advice changes so often too! It's so hard to keep up.

cartoontrickster · 11/02/2013 15:52

ice cream blooming heck! what about cheese cake?!

BartletForTeamGB · 11/02/2013 16:36

Cheese cake is fine. The ice cream thing is just the soft whipped stuff due to the risk of listeria is higher.

This is a good page for you, cartoon:

cartoontrickster · 11/02/2013 16:44

thanks bartlett god its a bit worrying how little I know about what I cant eat!

GreenOlives · 11/02/2013 17:26

Im in the runny egg revolt too! I figure that as they come from my own chickens (which I know are vaccinated) and are fresh from my back garden daily Im happy to eat runny eggs until they come out of my ears! Have also enjoyed several "medium rare" steaks and loved the fact that Stilton is no longer banned so I could indulge at Christmas! Grin

clickingtock · 11/02/2013 17:59

Marks place. Brooking for Tricks and good scan news Boo.

Waves to Scarlett and Rubber, plus Sweetie.

I am about to be a single parent for two weeks. DP off to Africa on Wednesday.

clickingtock · 11/02/2013 18:00

Ooooo Olives didn't know you had clucks. Only slightly jealous! X

GreenOlives · 11/02/2013 18:25

tock You will be fine as you are a brooker but it will be bloody hard work! Smile My lovely girls are called Pearl, Petal and Rose and they are good layers and perfect pets!
boo Meant to say earlier "yay" for good scan and hope GTT results are all good too!
face Please don't stress about symptoms/lack of. Sending lots of good vibes for a lovely fluttery bean on your scan!
little You have my utmost sympathy! I feel fairly crap today too and its half term so I've had DS at home - we have an action packed week of multiple play dates in an effort to keep him amused and Im worn out after day 1!
Forgotten what else I wanted to say and can't scroll back as on phone so I'll just wave madly at everyone! Grin
p.s no chance of beating bartlet in the baby race but I am having a lot of painful Braxton Hicks so Im hoping babyOlives is heading in the right direction!

TheLittleFriend · 11/02/2013 18:53

Scarlet, sorry forgot to answer your question. The snow really isn't that bad round here, so please don't worry about your gp's. My dd's preschool is in a fairly remote village 10 mins drive away, and I can't risk slipping with my dodgy pelvis, so it doesn't take much snow for me to have to stay in atm. It's been melting all day though Smile

BartletForTeamGB · 11/02/2013 23:41

Come on, green. I don't mind too much, I just want this to be over if you win the race of the Tripe Whammiers. Painful BHs sound good. Hope they are doing lots.

cartoon, hope the scan goes well. I've found throughout my pregnancies that my symptoms come and go. I think (with no evidence for it!) that it has tied in with growth spurts for the baby. Brooking for you!

clickingtock · 12/02/2013 09:23

Hear, hear, Olives. Brooking for Sweetie. Thanks

NewYearNewBoo · 12/02/2013 09:34

Fuckity fuck shit and bum!! Thought yesterday went too well, consultant just called, I have got bloody gestational diabetes :(:(

Anyone got any experience of this? Help please!

cartoontrickster · 12/02/2013 09:43

oh no boo poor you. sorry I have nothing helpful to say!
any sign of the babies yet people?!
thanks everyone for the reassurance
I'm sure I read too ages ago that the sickness being when the bean has a growth spurt. sometimes I think its been in my head too because it makes me and dh feel better. he asks every day if I feel sick and is disappointed if I say no. I've felt loads better for a week nowHmm but I won't dwell on it too much. oh well ill soon find out.

BartletForTeamGB · 12/02/2013 10:31

boo, will send you hugs here as well. As I said on FB, this is my job, so do just email if I can help point you in the right direction or answer questions.

However...I might not be that helpful over the next few days...

The MW has just been. Cervix now very, very, very favourable. Membranes bulging. She thinks they will just go tonight (oh I do hope so) and...I should get ready for a home birth because there might not be enough time to get to the hospital or for an ambulance to get to me! Shock I've dilated to 3-4cm without much, so she's worried I won't notice much of the first stage and then just sneeze the baby out. I desperately hope this happens!

TheLittleFriend · 12/02/2013 10:41

Bartlett, that is ridiculously exciting. Similar happened with my dd, she was sneezed out 40 mins after waters went. Good luck! GrinGrinGrinGrin

Boo, what a pain to have gd after a good scan. I'm sure there is plenty of advice (and sugar free choc) out there to reassure you.

musicalmrs · 12/02/2013 10:43

Eeeeek Bartlet how very exciting! Brooking no argument they go and you have a wonderful, speedy sneeze birth! Grin

NewYearNewBoo · 12/02/2013 10:49

OMG Bartlet that all sounds brilliant, so exciting Grin that sneeze is going to be fast and soon! Also huge thank you again for the links you sent, Thanks

TheLittleFriend · 12/02/2013 10:58

Can I just remind all the excited people, that though Bartlet is about to sneeze out no1 tripe whammy baby, we're not actually due for over a week. I'm feeling the pressure!!! GrinWink

BartletForTeamGB · 12/02/2013 11:06

Indeed, I am just being a bit of a precocious tripe whammier! little and green are going to be doing it in much more style! Smile

boo, don't bother with sugar free chocolate. If you want chocolate, just eat a little bit of the ordinary stuff. The additives still can affect your blood sugar and insulin levels. They are also much more expensive, taste nasty and can give you diarrhoea! www.diabetes.org.uk/Guide-to-diabetes/Introduction-to-diabetes/Myths_and_FAQs/

Now, must dash around the house like a headless chicken for a few moments! Aaargh! I am really going to have a baby!!!

NewYearNewBoo · 12/02/2013 11:10

Good lord, about to sneeze and can still dash!! You are superhuman Grin

Thank you again for the info.

ScrambledSmegs · 12/02/2013 11:15

Ooh, just popped over from FB for your news, Bartlet! So exciting. Hope everything goes well.

Don't feel under pressure, Little, I know all too well that babies come when they're ready! Enjoy the calm before the madness Smile
