Where is the postnatal thread? I am exactly the same I keep going to get some sleep and worried that DP will fall asleep too with her on him and she'll roll off. We're going to try that now walnut she's still feeding all over the place at the moment so hopefully get into routine soon!

Walnut8 · 11/12/2012 05:25

I hope this works brooke www.mumsnet.com/Talk/postnatal_clubs/1611830-Dashing-through-the-snow-One-escaped-early-which-December-baby-is-next?msgid=35931803#35931803

I put a pillow between DH and A to stop him rolling anywhere near her. I found with DD1 I had a lot more sleep if she was next to me too, in terms of not being worried about her breathing etc.

QueenoftheHolly · 11/12/2012 07:26

Ah clarella & Kate, wonderful news! Many congratulations!
& Brooke, what a gorgeous little thing you must be totally overwhelmed with love (& sleeplessness?!).

Seeing pics & reading stories is helping to keep it real. I'm a week overdue & no signs now. Think banby us just too giant to come out.
i have an unhelpful midwife & Ive just woken up with a cold Angry. Only person I've noticed with a cold recently is Gary Barlow on X factor Confused.

Any space on a wallowing-in-self-pity sofa for me? I have home made mince pies & hot choc?! (Sorry GDs!!)

gilsbubbles · 11/12/2012 08:52

I've now got and additional bit of complication....not sure how much coverage it's getting in the rest of the uk but Belfast is a bit rowdy at the moment. And with no consideration for my impending labour the protestors have been blocking roads between where we live and the hospital. Apparently last night there was a crowd of 500+ disrupting access to the hospital.
Arrggggggg, got an appointment tomorrow morning, if I can make it there, might just ask if I can stay.

yuletopian99 · 11/12/2012 09:21

oh gils that's a real nightmare! inconsiderate protestors....

I've had a major ongoing crmpy feeling (not like contractions, like full on permanent period pains) which has built up from my bottom bump ache yesterday. Not sure what it is, don't think it's a sign of impending labour but quite worried it might be something sinister. Crummb has gone quiet overnight and have had a cold drik and a sugar hit this morning and not much going on. Should I call the midwife just in case or am I being an idiot?

Honeycantthinkofanxmasnickname · 11/12/2012 09:26

yule if there is anything worrying you at this stage phone someone. It will probably be fine but you're going to worry until you know do the sooner you call the sooner you can relax.

gils that sounds like a nightmare. No advice but will be thinking of you angry pregnant lady could prob take them

brooke89 · 11/12/2012 09:26

Thanks walnut it worked and I got a few hours Gringils hope the protestors get out of the way for you!

yule mine started as a constant period pain that went on to back ache the next day so maybe it is a sign?

Thank you queen I can't be mad at her for not letting me sleep when she's so cute and cuddly Wink

CODwidow · 11/12/2012 10:00

yule I had period type pains the day before I had Keira so who knows Smile

Stacks · 11/12/2012 10:18

All my low down pressure and pains are gone now. I didn't think it was labour, just baby having his head really low. I'm worried he's popped up out of that low position today though, as his bum felt quite high this morning. I want him born tomorrow! He's not allowed to disengage any :(

Stacks · 11/12/2012 10:19

yule I'd definitely give them a call. They won't mind at all, and it'll put your mind at rest. They would rather check you and everything be fine, than you not bother them and a problem be missed.

yuletopian99 · 11/12/2012 10:24

hmm - can't get through to anyone! have left a message with docs for community midwife and the hospital's permanently engaged.. Angry

MyDaydream · 11/12/2012 10:34

stacks you could just be having a long baby. I have head low down and bum up in my ribs. He's definitely taking after DP I think.
yule if your trying to get through to antenatal my midwife told me to call the main hospital switchboard and be put through. They must have two phones at my local because I rarely get through on the direct antenatal number, but have much more luck being transferred. Might be worth a go.

itsMYNutella · 11/12/2012 10:48

Congratulations Clarella and kate and brooke if I forgot you before - sorry still suffering from rubbish sleeping patterns!
So lovely to hear of all the new snuggly screaming if you put them down bundles :)

I think my bean will wait it out until New Year, Hmmmm.... we shall see. Last Dr's appointment yesterday. From now on it's my MW or the hospital :)

gils can you not just go and be very pregnant and angry and tell them all to go home?? Xmas Wink hope they don't actually cause you a problem in an emergency! I'm worried enough about it being icy outside and it keeps bloomin snowing!! (it's all of -3ºC today brrrrr)

Question re induction - here they apparently use either the gel or a tablet that you take orally.... has anyone ever heard of this tablet and have any idea what it is called in English? I have no idea what it is and like to google do my own research to understand what everything is but this one has me stumped. Xmas Confused

Stacks · 11/12/2012 11:00

Nutella it seems to just be prostaglandin, same as the internal one. Or so a quick google tells me random website

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 11/12/2012 11:03

She's a cutie pie Brooke, especially when you're not the one who had to listen to get scream at 3am!

A quick google found this nutella (scroll down) does that look right?

itsMYNutella · 11/12/2012 11:10

Thanks stacks and wilyule! Neither of those links seems particularly positive about it Confused .... also echoes what the MW said, her preference is the gel because the tablet is basically known to irritate your internal organs well we're a way away from it yet and MW has promised she also has some tricks up her sleeves which will be attempted in due course...

pmgkt · 11/12/2012 11:10

Quick update. After being head down for the last few days, I had major movements during the evening. One midwife was certain head was up but it moved again before a scan. Anyway this morning when the consultant came around she looked at my tummy and knew it had moved. It is now lying transverse so she said she would sort my section date today as it doesn't look likely it will settle down. I'm quite pleased cos I am begining to worry that it will move if I go home and I'll be worrying constantly about it bring breech and going into labour.

yuletopian99 · 11/12/2012 11:40

thanks everyone, have now managed to get through and they think my vigorous trot/jog to the supermarket and back on sunday has just shaken him down and hence the ongoing ache. She said it could be the start of latent phase which doesn't mean it won't be days/weeks before anything progresses further but no need to panic. have also had a hot orange squash (regressing to my inner 6 year old) and crumb is back to happy frolicing..

ellliebelle · 11/12/2012 11:45

brooke she is just perfect :)

pmgkt glad you will have a date sorted today its much easier knowing when it will be than being left waiting :)

yule hope you get through to someone and have yoyr mind put at ease

I have a sweep at hospital on thurs and i know it might bot do anything but quite a few proplr have scared me saying there sweeps brought on labour very quickley and nowbim worried about going to hospital alone :(

pmgkt · 11/12/2012 13:52

Ellora I had 2 sweeps last time, one at +7 and one ay +10. I went to both by myself. Drove myself too. I never gave it a thought at the time. I think its like most things in pregnancy. You hear the eventful situations, yet hundreds happen everyday that you don't hear about cos its not worth saying about. For what its worth neither of mine working, see a non story. Good luck for you though.

ellliebelle · 11/12/2012 14:39

Thanks pmgkt its like you say wouldnt have given it a second thought had people not tried to scare me.

Couldnt be happier today haf my midwife and supervisor of midwives come and do me a home visit. Have put a planbin place for labour birth and care for baby after birth for me to still go ahead with homebirth :) they have gone through potential risks with me andbgiven me chance to ask questions anf also voice how im feeling now feel more relaxed about appointment with horrid consultanto thurs. Also my midwife will come and do me another sweep on sat if thursdays doesnt work to try and avoid induction next week :)

itsMYNutella · 11/12/2012 15:49

Ooohhh it's been a very quiet day in here today.... tempting fate... or perhaps there is a mass delivery going on somewhere??? :o

ellie so glad that it sounds like you had such a successful appointment. Hope things continue to go well for you and fingers crossed for the sweep!

pmgkt Have you been sorted with your section date? And are you allowed home at all? Hope waiting around in the hospital isn't too boring.

DPs worst fear is that I will have to be in hospital for any length of time - I hate hospital, made worse by having the novo virus this time last year and having to be in quarantine which meant no one wanted to visit me, I was super bored but could understand. It was also a weekend (I was admitted on a Thurs eve) so they wanted me to stay until Monday (because apparently they couldn't make a decision during a weekend); I was symptom free on Friday.. so I left on Saturday. But after much stress to DP (acting as interpreter) and much form signing.... Poor DP

Hormonalhell · 11/12/2012 16:02

I'm still here nutella and wish I wasntSad

Been to sleep but still feel tired and fed up, am scared about labour tho at same time

emilyeggs · 11/12/2012 16:14

BuntysFestiveCollocks · 11/12/2012 16:22

Jealous of everyone with their babies! I was on one of the old threads, but thought I'd pop back over (also on the Jan 2013 thread with pmgkt )

Due on the 28th, and very ready for baby to come now.
