I finally bought baby some clothes! 6 teeny vests, a sleepsuit & a hat all for £9 from Tesco (they have a sale).

I had a concern about the outdoor onesies/pramsuits though. They looked really nice & snug but they all said to keep away from fire. Now obviously I plan to keep the baby away from fire but there is a difference to me between a material that would catch fire/burn slowly and something that will go up in 3 seconds. Just to clarify I don't intend to let baby near a fire, but I feel against dressing her in highly flammable materials. A lot of the outfits also had this warning in Tesco, do you think it means that the items are very flammable or is it just a over zealous warning not to leave the baby on the cooker.

23+5!

Fluffeh · 19/12/2012 19:02

Wow so many posts since I last visited!
Really good news about mama and Alexander. I hope she's out of icu soon.
Had an impromptu midwife visit this morning and while she was listening to the heartbeat we heard hiccups -so cute :).
Heartburn drives me insane, I'm just using rennies at the minute but may be driven to see the dr if it continues!

I've bought a pram! After much testing out in shops and scouring on eBay DH and I have got an Oyster. We got the chassis, seat and rain cover for £225 brand new online. My sister is giving us her carry cot and her car seat so all we need to get is a new cot mattress and also a foot muff when baby is big enough. Seems like a good pram and a decent price for a new one.

Of course just after we ordered it our fridge broke and it's just cost a packet to get that fixed, sod's law. Very excited though to have a pram.

username, good question about the flammable warnings. I don't know the answer but interested to hear what others think.

23 weeks today!

Giddypants · 19/12/2012 19:58

Thank you for the update on mama Sam I think about her and Alexander often, I hope she is out of ICU and on the mend x

Username, I think it's just a warning that material is flammable like that warning you get on peanut butter no shit Sherlock

Trishstar · 19/12/2012 21:53

Teapig! I've got the Oyster (whole system), what colour have you gone for? There was an offer when I got it for whole system for £360 at a babystore near me.

I've gone for the ocean blue.

Xx

EssexWelsh · 19/12/2012 22:59

Good work missmuffet just bought 9 copies of the keep calm card for various relatives, all for half price and I would have just got their 4 for 3 offer, so blinking bargain Smile thank you

enjay0811 · 20/12/2012 00:44

Oh bollox, jst got off the pc after ordering 5 funky pigeon cards! Thanks for the code tho missmuffett hope someone else can use it!

bext · 20/12/2012 06:45

Scan today....finally! Can't wait. Reckon I'm probably the last to go so we'll get our final tally of boys/girls/surprises.

I've bought a mamas and papas pram off eBay which is coming on saturday - hope I haven't been too speedy with the mouse and that it's ok. It matches a car seat we'd already been given so seemed like a good deal.

Hope everyone's colds and flu are getting better, and thanks for the mama update Sam.

Trishstar · 20/12/2012 07:09

Good luck today bext! Hope everything is ok and you have a cooperative baby for the scan x

Teapig · 20/12/2012 07:47

Trishstar that sounds like a great deal you got on the Oyster. It looks like a great pram, I can't wait to start using it. Ours is plain I think, I guess it will be delivered in the New Year.

Good luck today bext, so exciting that you get to see your little one today.

This might be a stupid question but are there any other routine scans after 20 weeks or do they only scan again if something needs checking?

Teapig · 20/12/2012 07:49

Trishstar, meant to say plain black. Looks like a lovely pram, hope it serves us both well.

Fluffeh · 20/12/2012 08:13

How exciting all the pram buying!
Sometimes I get this really excited feeling with no warning, mainly when I'm doing something mundane. We're over half way to meeting our babies -eek.

Good luck with your scan bext :).

I have another scan tomorrow afternoon, hopefully baby will move this time and they can measure the spine.

Teapig, I don't think there are anymore routine scans now although I'll be having a series of growth scans to make sure the extra fluid I carry from my broken shunt isn't squishing or hindering baby's development, so sometimes there are more :).

SneezySnatcher · 20/12/2012 08:29

Just checking in. Hope everyone is well. DH's holidays start today so I am looking forward to some quality time with him and DD before the Christmas madness starts!

Trishstar · 20/12/2012 08:33

Teapig, think I pushed it around the shop for about 40 mins! Changed seats on it etc! I loved it! So easy up manoeuvre/fold down etc!

Just need to choose changing bag now!

tattooedapril87 · 20/12/2012 08:39

Morning all!
Good luck with your scan today bext and anyone else having rescans, I nearly had to have a rescan luckily a wee and a jiggle momentarily moved my naughty bean!

I'm having trouble weeing at the mo I sit and rock like a mad person but when I get up I still need to go its very frustrating returning to the toilet every 5 mins!

Also found out I'm working 5 hours Boxing Day and they put me on customer service eek!!!! In Argos on Boxing Day that is not the position you want to be filling lol!! I'm a little annoyed I'm even in, as its kind of a family day for me but hey ho someone's gotta do it and ill be home by 2.15!

Am seeing mw on 27th for my 25week check can't wait for that! Can't believe in my notes the dates are like every 2 weeks after that! The last weeks are going to fly by!!

Day off today and dp got paid so I'm gonna go and make the best of it hehe! (He's at work btw!)
Glad you could make use of my code also! I rarely pay full price for anything if I can help it there's always a code somewhere Grin

Can't really concentrate at work this morning so an sourcing the web for 'inspiration'!!

So a bit of humour to lighten our Thursday's - is this what the future holds for us al?:

bext · 20/12/2012 11:10

Now with 'live' link!

usernamegoeshere · 20/12/2012 13:35

Good luck with your scan Bext am a bit jealous, I felt like I was a bit too daunted & stressed to really enjoy that scan.

I looked more into the Tesco fire warnings, & Giddy was correct, the clothes are no more flammable than anything else, its just a pointless extra warning.

Time seems to be going really really fast now. I think its Christmas doing it, ever since finding out was pregnant I thought a baby was ages away cos not till next year, & now its nearly next year.

Hi everybody,

Been a while since I checked in - lovely to hear how everyone's getting on! Username - know what you mean about time going quickly - the first twelve weeks seemed to take forever and since then, time has just flown by! Babies will be here before we know it!

Had my scan on the 1st and all went well. Found out we're having a girl! Had 'low' downs risk (1/2450) but now, having looked at lots of other people's on here, seems relatively high (am just 30)?

Thanks everybody for pram chat - the Oyster does look great. Going to have a test drive of some at the weekend!

bext · 20/12/2012 16:18

Hi all

Home from scan - its a boy Smile
All healthy although was in a funny position so the sonographer made me jump up and down a lot which somewhat challenged my pelvic floor control Blush

If I'm honest, I'm a little bit disappointed it's a boy. Which then makes me feel massively guilty - we tried for so long for this baby that I should just be overjoyed whatever it is, we're so lucky to have managed to conceive at all. And especially with some of the news we've had on this thread, I need to just be thankful that he and I are healthy. But if I'm honest, I'm a bit scared. All the little boys we know seem to be uncontrollable and not very nice to be around.

So any words of wisdom from you out there with gorgeous DS's most welcome!

I am terrible aren't I? Should be so happy and yet have such mixed emotions.

x

KelleStarOfWonder · 20/12/2012 16:47

username it seems a usual warning, it's even on adults clothing, yet you don't tend to look at those labels as much :) With the snowsuits they usually have a polyester filling to keep it cosy, which is a flammable substance.

bext it's not an unusual response to feel a little disappointed. My friend found out she was having a girl earlier this year and was really upset as she really wanted a boy. She is loving having a little girl now. My little girl is an uncontrollable, self obsessed maniac... but I think that is most 2-3 years olds, to be honest, whether they are boy or girl. There has been a little influx of boys at baby group and they are just as snuggly as girls :) We are all allowed these little worries. I am both hoping and dreading this one being a boy... we've decided on a surprise for now... can't wait to see what we get :) Glad everything else was good.

bambino great to hear you had a good scan too. Your down's result is the same as mine and I am 31.

usernamegoeshere · 20/12/2012 16:57

Bext its not terrible at all. After my 20 week scan I was really miserable for a few days, everything was just a bit overwhelming, I couldn't get my head around her being a girl and felt a bit sad almost like I was grieving a tiny bit for the boy I had imagined, then I felt bad for feeling bad, but now I can't imagine her being any different.

I think I would have felt a bit like that either way though. The 20 week scan has quite a big build up and I would think its natural feel a bit down afterwards, like having holiday/January blues but with more hormones.

Teapig · 20/12/2012 17:59

Don't feel bad bext, it's natural and some when little arrives you won't be able to imagine yourself without your gorgeous DS.

I was secretly really hoping for a girl but was convinced we it was a boy. When we found out it was a girl I was thrilled but part me of me felt sad it wasn't a boy, I think a small part of you feels like that whatever the gender.

tattooed the 4D scan sounds amazing! You got a really deal too. I'm very tempted to have one, seems crazy that we won't see our babies now until they arrive but not long to go I guess.

I stupidly ate raw mozzerella today without knowing if the milk was pasturised or not. D'oh, hope it's ok.

Giddypants · 20/12/2012 18:09

bext don't beat yourself up, it's really normal to feel disappointed when you imagined you were getting one thing, then find out their totally to opposite, DH was a bit disappointed that we were having another boy, his words were, aw but I wanted a girl! I really felt for him, but boy are fab, we already have a 4 year old boy, he's fabulous very much a mummy's boy, and comes for hugs and snuggles, would cuddle all day if he could! No in the slightest boisterous.
Think what I'm saying is that all kids are different, boy or girl.

Just got back from seeing my GP. I needed her to refer me to anti natal physio clinic, was telling her about the pain I've been suffering, especially after work, she was keen to sign me off sick, but I don't want to go just yet, so she made me promise that when things get too bad I must go back to get a sick note!

I've never been off sick unless I was really poorly in 10 years, and I feel guilty about letting my colleagues down, was informed last week that 17 staff had gone off sick with Norwalk! So we are a bit thin on the ground already, and it's the season for people getting really ill, I just don't know what to do.
