Thought we should have a shiny new thread.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SpottyTeacakes · 28/11/2012 07:29

Ooo seconds it's d-day!! Oh have you shown your birthing partner how to check your sugar level? They will want you to do it every hour I expect and if you're anything like me you'll just shove your finger towards them and tell them to do it!

I was concentrating so hard on actually pushing this time round that I forgot I was having a baby and was quite confused when they put him on my chest! Ooo I'm excited for more baby news! I want to do it again Confused Blush

Clarella · 28/11/2012 08:16

Exciting seconds! hope you're good!

Mm maybe I'd just ask someone about the spotting mamapo - I'm a first timer though, but in combo with bad pains - I've never had anything like that luckily but even discharge is less these days (sorry tmi at this hour!)

Walnut8 · 28/11/2012 08:28

Thanks for the support everyone. I should definitely look at that site Clarella and make sure lo is in the best position possible! And yes, you're right mamapo I should feel lucky I'm able to be induced rather than having an even bigger baby!! I was induced with DD and really didn't want another induction but so be it. At least I wont be waiting until 42 weeks this time!

mamapo re the spotting, I would call your labour suite or midwives at the hospital and just let them know. They will probably want you in to check you out (I had a bit of spotting at around 40 weeks with DD and was nothing but they still wanted me in to do a trace).

Going to be 38 degrees (possibly up to 40) here tomorrow. Probably better in than out tomorrow!

MyDaydream · 28/11/2012 08:33

willyou I've been having the same sleep issues. Falling asleep at 8 on the sofa but as soon as I'm in bed I'm wide awake.
spotty hope everything comes back okay and clear for little Felix. If your more comfortable and rested at home it's the best place for you and you can give more of your energy to him when you do visit. It must be hard not to feel guilty, but you need to do what's best for you too.
eggs my DP is the same, even half a stone really affects his snoring, and I went to the spare room last night to escape it. Only to be kept awake by my own darth vader breathing instead!
Good luck seconds hope everything goes well for you today. Looking forward to more squishy baby news.

I'm finding it so difficult to keep up at the minute with you lot, my attention span isn't really letting me and I keep forgetting what I've read!
I got the bus to my mums yesterday (1.5 hours each way), she's recovering from surgery and I've agreed to go back later in the week to look after her so my step dad can go back to work, but I think it's going to be the last time I make the journey before baby comes because it was just too much of a trek.
We've got MIL and BIL tonight to celebrate her birthday, which was yesterday. I'm really not in the mood so might cook in the afternoon for them to heat up and take to my bed in the evening if I still don't feel it! By evening I get bad BH and nausea all I do is pass out on DP, I feel so crap I don't want to talk about being pregnant, or the birth or my mums health, especially since for the first time in over a week I'm not spending all day worried about her, but knowing MIL her conversation won't stretch further than those topics.

Hormonalhell · 28/11/2012 08:36

Thanks everyone for welcome Smile

Had bad night last night, BH's and cramps were around 6 mins apart from 12 til 4 then I fell asleep and so obv not labour! This is happening regular now so prob not long now.

honeymum yes I been following ur posts on postnatal too, is your baby ok now? I had my dd at 34 weeks (waters went at 33) and ds at 36 waters going few days earlier too so think it could be soon. Baby nice n active so think he quite healthy Smile

FriendofDorothy · 28/11/2012 08:42

I slept really badly last night and then I was absolutely convinced that it was Thursday when I woke up. I was gutted to find out that it is only Wednesday!

The Mister helpfully pointed out that I will only be pregnant for a month more at the most as they will induce me on 28 December if I haven't delivered already. I want this baby out for Christmas! Urgent pineapple eating commences at the weekend!

brooke89 · 28/11/2012 08:57

horomonal Ooohhh sounds promising! Hopefully not much longer till you get to meet your LO.

honey so sorry to hear about your hamster!

walnut don't be scared, try and not think about that and just think about the end result with your little baby!

seconds when will you find out it you're going in today! Exciting!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 28/11/2012 09:59

MaMaPo · 28/11/2012 10:08

So off to hospital for a check - got through all of an hour and a half at work! Hopefully everything is fine and I don't have tk stay in - my proper last day t work is tomorrow and I have stuff to do!

cherrypiew3 · 28/11/2012 10:13

Morning Everyone,

Spotty If you feel better going home then I would do that and rest up ready for when baby Felix comes home.

Seconds Not long to go now you will soon have your baby.

Walnut I know it's very hard not to think about it but just try and concentrate on the baby. At least you don't have to put up with going overdue.

Honey Sorry to hear about your hamster.

Well have woken up this morning with piles (tmi sorry) really worried now that if I go into labour soon it will make them worse, so I just sat on the bed and cried to dh this morning. DD has been very active all the way through this pregnancy mw has even commented on it, but since last night I have felt hardly any movement. She moved a bit this morning but nothing like she normally would I don't know if I should ring the hospital or if I am just panicking.

rosieposey · 28/11/2012 10:30

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :)

Seconds good luck for today :) hopefully it wont take too long.

BP is stable now but they arent letting me go home before lo is born on Friday now. I feel pretty spaced out due to the meds and keep getting middle of the night hypos due to my insulin requirements going down on a daily basis.

This time 3 weeks ago i was on 120 units of novarapid per meal and 100 lantus at night - i have halved that now, still quite a lot but obviously am adjusting my dose daily.

I think i kept up the other ladies in my bay last night with snoring ... at least my amenity room priveledges kick in tomorrow, i feel sorry for everyone else trying to get some sleep and its stressing me out so i cant wait to move to my own room - lonely but at least i will be able to let others sleep!

Gawd its boring in hospital - my DD3 bought me in all the Harry Potter films bless her so i might get started on those today.

pmgkt · 28/11/2012 10:34

Cherry just give them a call, you will only worry all day otherwise. A sudden drop off in movements should be checked.

MaMaPo · 28/11/2012 10:46

Cherry, no point not contacting your midwife - better it be nothing and checked, than something and not checked. I speak as someone who has what I assume is a minor symptom - a tiny bit of spotting - and my consultant has asked me to go to the labour suite to be checked by the midwives. I'm happy to hand expertise in decision making over to them! I think if your baby is moving less, that's definitely worth a phone call.

Secondsop · 28/11/2012 10:53

Hello all, I should find out this evening whether I am going in tonight or not - I've got to ring later to check there's still a bed free and that they haven't been overwhelmed by women going into labour.

A few more pelvic pains during the night - am hoping the little man is getting prepared for his exit!

spotty that is a great tip re the blood testing - I'll get my husband to do today's testing so that he gets the hang of it. At the best of times I don't always manage not to drop the testing kit everywhere.

Terrywoganstrousers · 28/11/2012 11:53

Right, back from midwife and have position scan booked for a week today (not that I need it, I can feel the hiccups in my fanjo every night Grin). Home birth pack drop off next week too

She has been very sensible and said that as long as I keep taking the Spatone I can stay off the ferrous sulphate, and as long as my iron doesn't drop below 10.5 then they will be happy to keep things as they are for the home birth, if it goes any lower then they have to get permission from the doctor apparently.

Good luck everyone going to be checked today Smile

WillYouDoTheFandango · 28/11/2012 11:57

Fingers crossed for you Seconds

Ring Cherry, they would much rather see a healthy woman than not see one who needs it.

They didn't give me an induction date, everything was fine so they booked me another appointment for 12/12 and will tell me then Sad wanted something to look forward to. But least everything is well and growth has slowed down, but not in a bad way. He was 5lb 9oz at 34+4 (70th centile) and is now 5lb 14oz at 36+4 (50th centile). No bruiser for me hopefully Grin

MaMaPo · 28/11/2012 12:09

So now sat in hospital, in a hospital gown drinking tea and listening to the baby's heartbeat. Better than being at work, but a bit disconcerting. I think the midwife thinks things are kicking off, but who knows! My husband is at work and most definitely distracted. I definitely feel a bit more contraction-y than normal, but will wait to see what this trace and my doctor have to say.

There's a newborn crying in the room next door! Grin

itsMYNutella · 28/11/2012 12:11

FX mamapo! How far away is DH if things do swing into full on action? Hope you're reasonably comfortable (well as much as possible iykwim) damn I'm going to have to hover near MN all day :o

MaMaPo · 28/11/2012 12:27

My husband is only 20 min by tube - maybe 10 by cab - and home
Is just 5 mins away if he needs to swing past and pack the rest of pick up my hospital bag.

It's all good!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 28/11/2012 12:30

Oh good luck mama

I'm eating hot curry to see if it helps (it def did summit on sat but all died down again).

OP posts:
WillYouDoTheFandango · 28/11/2012 12:32

Good luck Mama it's all getting exciting now!

itsMYNutella · 28/11/2012 12:40

That's handy mamapo :)
I better go see how my hospital bag is, it seems the self packing fairy dust I ordered still hasn't arrived Hmm

Secondsop · 28/11/2012 12:51

Good luck mamapo!

willyou, good news on the baby's growth. Mine too had dropped from 95th centile (eek) at 29 weeks to more like 60-70th at 36.

Hormonalhell · 28/11/2012 13:00

Mamapo and Cherrypie yes hospitals are so dull aren't they? I'm weird tho cos I actually like the food!!Grin

Brooke be nice if things are moving but really I should be hoping for him to stay in a bit longer I know!

Hope everyone else is ok and cant wait to see whose next - it's hard to keep track of everyone as I'm on my phone.
