Thought we should have a shiny new thread.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 26/11/2012 11:37

Well DH let me sleep this morning. He got the kids ready for school and only woke me to do dd's hair. It was great. He's stayed home to work from home today too (and look after me :) aww).

Still blood when I wipe and cervix has moved forward and seems more open than it was. So trying to keep up and about to get things moving!

Ooh how exciting Stacey, I feel like doing a cheerleader dance for your cervix (think iv eaten too much flapjack, very excitable!). I thought my plug had gone in the bath last night, but turned out it was red candle wax!

Jojo I was given a moses basket that was first used 10yrs ago and last used in the summer, with lots of reassurance the mattress was still good (no mention how old the mattress was) but when I unzipped the waterproof cover there was mold on the mattress :( giving the cover a boil wash and have bought a new foam mattress.

Watching daytime tv (not my usual activity) feel the urge to complain to my energy supplier and go to an auction!

PurplePidjin · 26/11/2012 12:10

Appointment made to register the birth for Thursday morning

Clarella · 26/11/2012 12:20

Lol candle wax eggs!

Yeay go stacey! Do that vanilla ice dance on youtube that made someone go into labour in 8 hrs!

Ive made a pact with a due date pal from nct. that we will climb the stairs to the top of the baltic gallery as well as the sage later in week if we're both still here - have it on good authority that it works. (Though friend was 15 days over due Grin ) then stand in john lewis waiting for waters to break and maybe we'll get a free hamper. Or a caboo. Grin

Ah thats lovely pidg Smile Flowers

Good news equimum :)

Def dont want baby today or tomorrow. Keep having to lie down. But bland foods seem good :) was wondering about smooth peanut butter being a good thing to try?

Still thinking of everyone who's 'in progress', have spent all morning in town looking for nursing bras and they're all so DULL and now have major bump pain. Angry

Who makes nice/pretty/decorated nursing bras (apart from Hot Milk, who cost the earth)? Why should I be forced to give up all sense of style because i choose to bf? Feeling militant and stroppy.

Clarella · 26/11/2012 12:34

2blessed re christening - i can understsnd how you feel about it. My only point would be that if he does not believe in it then can he not see it as a traditional thing, an opportunity to celebrate your lo, have cute pictures and a semi formal gathering of friends and family? Im not into organised religion either but do have basic beliefs (incorporating other faiths too - maybe im a quaker? Except like shopping too much ;) though am also heartily into evolution, anthropology and the big bang.... Confused) my sisters dp had never been to church, i dont think she wanted a christening but she did want pics of her dd in the 'family' christening gown ( that weve all been in) as tradition. Doubt wed do a christening however the idea of a special ceremony is lovely plus the idea of god parents is too. Dont know if any of that helps but there could be a middle ground for you both?

itsMYNutella · 26/11/2012 12:36

utopian be glad that you at least have some choice when it comes to fashion! Here I have found a few maternity pieces in one shop and the rest I've ordered online (from the UK) because the choice has been so dire! But I am happy with comfy bra's (bravado fan here) as long as my clothes still look good on the outside :)

Well I've read through everything, and no new babies today been a big disappointment! :o good to hear you're doing well though cod, stacey, spotty and happy due date clarella!

Clarella · 26/11/2012 12:36

Utop - i gave up and decided to wait till theyve settled into a size.... nice xmas pressie from dh plus more time to browse...?!

ellliebelle · 26/11/2012 12:41

i2blessed we ended up agreeing to a civil naming ceremoney for our dd's as dh was dead against christening. It turned out to be a beautiful day which i planned icgose readings etc and 'responsible adults' who will be there for them. Maybe not your kind of thing but thoughtvid mention it.

Fellow sufferes of gd have you dared to have a biscuit or 2 at all? I am in desperate need of some (blaming all the non diabetics on here) and was wondering if i can dare have anything a bit more exciting than a plain digestive?

Mummycox · 26/11/2012 12:43

utop debenhams still have their sale on and as such nursing bras are more reasonable and prettier.

EggsMichelle · 26/11/2012 13:02

Clarella I ate prodominantly peanut butter on toast when I had morning sickness, just a thin layer and cut into soldiers so I didn't scoff, was wonderful!

We are having a humanist naming ceremony, DH would burst into flames if he went near a church, as would DSis! Means we can still have nominated Guardians (a very poor catholic and a Christian who is not allowed to preach religion) and the heir loom christening shawl will be worn! Everyone is happy!

2blessed · 26/11/2012 13:02

clarella and ellie both good suggestions - thanks!
The 'christening' is a type of welcome to the world ceremony as much as an entry into the church and then traditionally in my family and my culture really (African-Caribbean) there is a huge party to celebrate the new life and showing thanks to those who been along the journey with us. This has been rumbling on for a while and we just need to get to that middle ground soon. I really like the idea of god parents/responsible adults too. I have four god children and I take that role really seriously.

mummycox thanks for the tip about Debenhams.

2blessed · 26/11/2012 13:04

eggs your post made me hoot out loud .

cherrypiew3 · 26/11/2012 13:12

Spotty Hope everything is ok and you are cuddling you baby now.

Cod and Stacey things sound promising.

Clarella Happy due date hope things get moving for you soon.

Well 38 weeks today and nothing happening here but then I fully expect to go to 42 weeks have carried the other dc that far over.

cashmere · 26/11/2012 13:18

Just checking in quickly.
Congrats dated.

Just thought I'd share..
You know you're nesting when..... Your 2 year old says 'let's do some dusting!'
Anyone got any others?

I think our Mums/MILs forget that when they had their babies they'd have a few days in hospital. I was born early 80s and was whisked off to nursery at night so Mum could rest- this had changed when brother born late 80s but they still stayed in a few days.

I'm having a home birth but I think visiting hours are the biggest plus with hospitals- with DS they were 2-4 and 6-8 (max 2 people apart from DH).
I discharged myself at 2 but then ended up stuck at home with 6 family members who didn't leave till after 8- I'd been awake for 36 hours, hadn't got the knack of feeding and wanted to do my 1st poo in peace. This time no-one is visiting for the 1st day 'so DS can get used to the baby'!!

SpottyTeacakes · 26/11/2012 13:24
