Just woke myself up trying to sleep on my front. Ow - that does NOT work any more!

PurplePidjin · 22/11/2012 06:56

I don't want anything else in contact with them - I've had one hour off since 1am, when dp took him downstairs for a bit!

SpottyTeacakes · 22/11/2012 07:07

pidj someone recommended jelonet dressings on another thread if they're cracked. I'm a bit Hmm that the bf specialist told us if the larch is correct there won't be any pain surely your nipples need to get used to being sucked lots!

brooke89 · 22/11/2012 07:48

Up at 5 - housework done, now organising tea towels?! Help me!!!

spotty mmmm sounds amazing, I know what I'll be having for lunch today!

Walnut8 · 22/11/2012 07:54

I agree spotty - I think the no pain thing is a myth. Mine needed to toughen up!

Is he feeding constantly pidj? Ouch! BTW I didnt mean rub your nipples in the shower!!!!! Just the boob part, if it gets a hot pink patch. I also used a lot of lanisoh.

Oh now I want caesar salad ... we are having quiche and garden salad instead. I don't know how you ladies with diabetes do it - DH is pre-diabetic and the one meal I have to plan for him (dinner) is always so hard!

emilyeggs · 22/11/2012 07:54

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 22/11/2012 08:06

Lol brooke we 're all a bit mental ATM don't worry!

AlisonDB · 22/11/2012 08:10

Morning all i had a great sleep last night, For the 1st night in weeks DS had no bad dreams!! So the only thing that kept me awake was trips to the loo!

Getting concerned now about DATED, really hope she & LO are ok!

I couldn't think of anything worse than having my mum at my labour, and she is usually the 1st person i want if im sick or upset and she's a health Visitor so it's not like she'd be squeamish,
But I was joking last weekend when she was visiting and I said it was ok if my DH & her DP went to the pub together and got drunk as she could be my birth buddy if I went in to labour..... Her face was a picture!
She said I never ever understand why a mother you want to see your daughter go through childbirth, unless they have nobody else,

Pidg there should be someone you can call if its hurting to feed, the sooner you get a bit of advice the better. Our breastfeeding class told us about something called 'biological nurturing' www.biologicalnurturing.com/ basically you put a naked LO one your naked chest, and they'll find their own way to the nipple, and latch on themselves. The baby will often make a better latch than a mum can get by taking them to the nipple in the traditional way.

The site doesn't work well on my iPad, and probably won't work on the phone either. Alternatively just google it or YouTube it. There are some amazing videos of new-newborn baby's crawling to the breast on their own and latching on!

emilyeggs · 22/11/2012 08:24

I heard cabbage is good for mastitis pidj. I'm a first timer though so don't hold me to that

JoJoB77 · 22/11/2012 08:25

Morning

I'm with you all on the feeling hot, its literally all the time, i rarely wear a coat outside now as i just dont feel the cold at all. My DH thinks im nuts when he gets home as we have the log burner on to keep the chill out but ive got all the windows open Blush

I arrange my tea towels in colour order! Maybe i have too much time on my hands or a bit of OCD Grin

I bought some raspberry leaf tea yesterday and the lady advised two cups a day and would not sell me the capsules?! Luckily the tea isnt too bad. Surely i can have more than two cups now tho?

Hope your DD is ok with her casts spotty.

Hope dated is ok...

JoJoB77 · 22/11/2012 08:26

Oh and welcome home pidjfamily! Smile

brooke89 · 22/11/2012 08:31

Yesss jojo I think I have developed OCD from being off work for so long - either that or I am really loosing it,Hmm 20 days to
go!

Off into town to attempt Xmas shopping again and stock up on raspberry tea leaf!

A friend of mine is a breast feeding councillor and she sent me a load of info/tips so if anyone wants a read ill send a pm!

JoJoB77 · 22/11/2012 08:55

Ah yes brooke i'd be very interested to read that please. I need all the help i can get Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 22/11/2012 08:56

Same here Brooke Smile

cashmere · 22/11/2012 09:20

Great thanks for those views re Mum around.
I feel a fool as I suggested she come up a month ago (she was also here last week), but DH quickly pointed out that it might be getting close to the birth.
I did broach it with Mum then so she knows I've had my doubts about whether it's a good idea but just says she'd keep out the way- the problem is I wouldn't relax AND she lives 90 minutes away so couldn't pop home.
I might just suggest we leave it- I do think she'll be offended though as she doesn't seem to get why it would be a problem for me to have her here.

ellliebelle · 22/11/2012 09:53

Morning all hope people are feeling ok today and those who have had sleepless nights again get chance for a nap.

Im not really hot at all this pregnancy i was with both the dd's but im definately feeling the cold this time.

I am also struggling with deciding what to do with my mum/the dd's when im in labour. We live in a 3 story house with the dd's room on the top floor so do i feel i could probably give birth without disturbing them if its night time so my mum could come over and stay in the spare room incase of transfer etc. Im leaning towards just deciding at the time :) if it is the night i would rather not disturb them so they can wake up to new brother/sister but then i worry if things are still going on at breakast time what would we do then. I have also told my mum that if she would rather take them to her house i am happy if she doesnt feel comfortable being at ours. Who knows though im kind of purposely not making any decissions :)

PurplePidjin · 22/11/2012 10:10

Midwives have all told me that it'll sting as he goes on and after (ie contact with clothes) but the actual sucking doesn't unless you get it wrong - the deformity in the shape of my nipple after suggests i gots it wrong! I can do it just need practice :) I've been shown several different positions, just need enough familiarity to be able to correct my own mistakes now. And he gets so furious if he doesn't get on Right Now Dammit it's funny! Not cracked, no mastitis, and midwife or health visitor or someone due to visit today i think so I'll either ask them or call LLL. This is a very pro-bf area thankfully.

Dp brought me porridge at 5, just served up sugar puffs and is currently cooking up sausage sarnies. This really isn't as hard as the hard-liners would have you believe when they're peddling their nightmare stories at vulnerable first time mums. It's no picnic but with a bit of respect and determination to maintain a sense of humour it's no worse than my darkest days of ptsd - easier because I'm blessed with a Rafa

PurplePidjin · 22/11/2012 10:12

Yes please to pm, Brooke Thanks

SpottyTeacakes · 22/11/2012 10:22

That's great to hear pidj :) I think having a supportive DH helps too, I'm really lucky with DP too. It's actually quite encouraging to hear as well, I will no doubt be asking your advice in a few weeks time! Has your milk come in yet? (If you don't mind me asking!)
