Clarella thanks for the sock advice, I'll have a look for them.

itsMYNutella · 19/11/2012 20:19

Ooooohhh it's all so exciting! I feel like my due date is aaaaages away! And I believe the baby will be late (it must be genetic, right? Hmm )... I feel so far behind!
But I think we are just about ready for the bean to make an appearance, as and when it pleases :)
Latest check up at the Doc today (with growth scan) bean is continuing to lie in the correct position and that's super, although not at all engaged yet. But the best news, I've lost 500g!!! I know it's not the time to be worried about weight but the Doc was pleased I hadn't gained any more weight so I'm double happy.... Although I might have had lighter clothing on today Hmm

Put the crib up yesterday and it all started to feel very real. I got a bit sad that it won't be just me and DH anymore then started worrying that I won't bond or not enjoy motherhood. That sounds terrible I know and wanted to tell DH but don't know how he'll react. This is something that I've wanted for so long and have had a bit of heartache getting hear so was a bit surprised by that! Don't feel like that now but it does pop into my head

cherrypiew3 · 19/11/2012 21:08

Congratulations Pidj and well done Thanks

Cookies we had a go at sex last night and well let's just say we will not be doing it again until baby pie has arrived.

37 weeks today and I really feel that this baby is not going to be putting in an appearance anytime soon.

soapnuts · 19/11/2012 21:09

Yeah Pidj!! gorgeous name! At last number two on the thread - and hopefully with a few more to follow!
I've finally got an appointment with the midwife/hospital (yes - about bloody time at 35 weeks!!) on Wednesday and am terrified about what they're going to say cos I have been having a lot of pressure, fanjo pain and .... ahem discharge! But then again I had this with DS1 from about 20 weeks and he was still late so I'll probably still be here at the beginning of Jan. As long as bubs hangs on until at least Friday when DH gets into the same country as me I'll be happy whenever it decides to make its appearance (I might have toremind myself of that in a few weeks!) Did an Ikea trip yesterday and totally exhausted myself but a nice long nap and DS being at school all afternoon has given me loads of energy... which I chose to use cutting out a baby quilt instead of doing something useful like washing baby clothes or packing my bags! Am very glad to hear I'm not the only one who isn't ready ignores all the talk of cooking for the freezer

Am looking forward to hearing some more news! I wonder who will be next?!

EggsMichelle · 19/11/2012 21:11

Emily I know exactly how you feel, I was so desperate for this baby, then after getting pregnant I started to worry about how our lives would change forever (cue big big panic). The thing we have to remember is yes, life will be different, but in a good way. Plus give it 18yrs and our precious little babies will be adults and we will be couples again to do just couple things!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 19/11/2012 21:13

emily I remember feeling like that with dd, I also remember being really upset that dh and I no longer had our evenings together and that everything had changed for good. It doesn't last long and you do get quality time together back, when they are small they sleep a lot and nap in the daytime and when they are older they entertain themselves for 30 mins at a time or so. It'll be absolutely worth it but I totally understand how you're feeling.

ellliebelle · 19/11/2012 21:22

spotty would you mind terribly sending me some info/tips on expressing colostrum too? Am i right on thinking i can do it from 36 weeks? Also where do you get the tiny suringes(sp) from and do you pop them in a breast milk storage bag then in the freezer?

EggsMichelle · 19/11/2012 21:29

Ellie you don't need to save what you express, it's just good to get it flowing before the baby arrives. Also their stomachs are the size of marbles so don't worry if you are only getting a few drops out.

HoneyMum21 · 19/11/2012 21:30

Emily I know what you mean - wouldn't change having Dash for a moment but still get little pangs of upset that me and DH won't have any time on our own (we got married in May so still fairly new to all this!) It's all different but totally worth it ;)

SpottyTeacakes · 19/11/2012 21:32

I can send you a link tomorrow ellie Smile I got the syringes from my mw at the hospital. You collect in the syringes and put straight into the freezer, then when defrosted they can have it straight from the syringe/your finger. I really want to avoid SCBU and I think they do 10ml/hour if they're struggling to get their sugar levels up (I might be wrong).

cashmere · 19/11/2012 21:36

Congratulations Pidg such an exciting time. Take photos everyday as he'll change before your eyes!
Spotty I'd also love any info on prepping boobs for feeding. I fed DS to 23 months but don't think my boobs have grown as much this time- assume will be fine but a bit if prep wouldn't hurt.

Dribbling! What is that about?! I wake up with a damp pillow- really should wash pillows more....

I move forwards/backwards and side to side on my ball. Should I be bouncing too?

Re sex I'm not bothering- last time it made me bleed at 38 weeks and I had to go in and get hooked up on monitor. Was fine and they decided it was a 'show' but can do without the stress .

I'll drink raspberry leaf tea instead- much more civilised!

FriendofDorothy · 19/11/2012 21:42

The midwife weighed me tonight and I could have cried. I have put on just over 2 and a half stone. I feel like a heifer :(

cashmere · 19/11/2012 21:42

Emily and Honey both DH and I still sometimes feel like this. We'd only been together 18 months (a year of which was long distance) when I got pregnant.
However, we have so much fun with DS- walks, picnics, beach, woods, swimming together, kids cinema....We have visited so many 'places of interest' round and about that we'd never have bothered with before.
Plus since DS was 2 I've left him for a night with grandparents (didn't feel comfortable before then). So we know that fast forward 2 years and we'll be at a stage where we can have little child free breaks AND all the fun family stuff.
Time really will fly by.

cashmere · 19/11/2012 21:44

Friend I put on 3 1/2 last time. Was easy to lose bar 10lbd which hung around till DS was about 18 months. Think you're meant to put 2ish on anyway.

ellliebelle · 19/11/2012 22:00

Thanks for the info spotty and a link would be great :) eggs as i have gd and am planning a homebirth i want some back up colostrum incase baby has any blood sugar issues

emilyeggs · 19/11/2012 22:22

Thanks ladies, felt like a bad mother for even thinking it. I know I'm gonna love it but it's all so different after doing what I want, when I want. Still, I'm 33 now so it's the right time for me and am so looking forward to this next chapter in my life. Smile glad I'm not the only one though who's ever felt like that.

On another note, anyone else get a stitch like feeling down one side of bump?

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 19/11/2012 22:23

ellie Envy that you're allowed a home birth with gd. I'm not even allowed in the birth centre which is in the same building as the normal labour ward! Which means no wager birth for me as our labour ward doesn't have pools, only the birth centre.

giraffe213 · 19/11/2012 22:27

Congratulations pidj! Lovely name too.
It's starting to seem more real now, thus more scary! I'm looking forward to having the baby but not actually delivering it... nonetheless, what cookies said about asking for an induction on the basis of being too uncomfortable to move - that had occurred to me also. We tell the baby several times a day that he/she is big enough now and needs to come out!

Cookiesandcoffee · 19/11/2012 22:28

I think I'm coming down with a stinking cold Sad sneezing and snotting everywhere and throat is getting sore. Tucked up in bed feeling very sorry for myself

emily we all have weird emotions, don't ever feel bad! It's totally normal.

friend I have DEFINITELY put on more weight than that, I had gained that such a long time ago that I stopped weighing myself as was so upset. Don't worry, that's a completely normal weight gain, most people I know have put on more. Plus baby weighs 1/2 a stone, plus placenta, fluid, fat reserves, extra fluid.. It'll drop off I'm sure

EggsMichelle · 19/11/2012 22:31

Sorry Ellie only got that after Spotty mentioned gd. There's a lot more to gd than just cutting back the sugars, very confusing.

datedthedevil · 19/11/2012 23:08

Hi all, just an update.... I went for a regular midwife appointment today and was sent to the local big hospital as there was protein in my urine and my feet, legs and face and my bp was sky high. The hospital said I've got pre-eclampsia and they are inducing me now. Really scary and surreal, I can't believe it's happening. The baby was due on 13th December and I'm only 36 weeks plus 4 so he's a little early :(

ellliebelle · 19/11/2012 23:12

stacey i wouldnt br allowed to use midwife led unit/birth centre either which seems crazy my consultant has daid outright she doesnt support my decision for homebirth but it isnt something she can stop. I do however have the support of the community midwives and the supervisor of midwives in my area and we have devised a birth plan to keep both me and baby safe

HoneyMum21 · 19/11/2012 23:19

Good luck dating - they're doing what's for the best and wouldn't do it of it wasn't safe for LO and you. Hope it goes well.
