New thread! I've lost my lovely spreadsheet so if someone can add in the stats and update, that would be wonderful; I'm sure someone else had a spreadsheet that was as anally organised as me

OP posts:

newbie could it be a kidney infection or bad UTI?

I'm not fancying ECV really. Can't make up my mind about it but am at peace with ending up with a section if need be. Hubby is leaning towards a section. There are only 2 doctors at the hospital that can perform an ECV and his auntie who used to be a midwife was really surprised that they still do them and she didn't seem too keen on them... I can't remember who said they'd had one - how was it?

I've spent all afternoon making my Christmas cards. Smile (you can tell I don't have any other kids needing entertained...)

CreepyCrawly · 10/12/2012 20:38

pgmkt that's much better for you. Fingers crossed!

apple bloody cars eh?! They certainly pick their moments!

I've had a mini breakdown this evening. Sorted our bedroom out today to make room for baby things and found some damp so have been stressing about that. Decided to wash all the baby clothes that are going in my hospital bag, DH went and swapped them over and didn't fully empty the washing machine before putting other stuff in. So now have some lovely grey vests, hats and booties :(

On a better note, went to see our new niece this evening. She's still in scbu but doing really well. She's beautiful, and it's so weird to think that I have one of her in my tummy right now.

Sorry if I've missed anyone, hope you're all well

birdiesinthesnow · 10/12/2012 20:56

I went to Xmas markets and was out all afternoon and can't walk properly now! Feels like leg isn't in pelvis socket properly. Oh well, I had fun.

pascha I think I'm going to have to pay a trip to tk maxx tmrw now, damn you!

bunty I've had the same thing the last two days but no other signs and only in the morning. Exciting!

Right this is a daft question, but you can't squash baby can you?! I was in such a rush today that I kept bending right over and forgetting and making my tummy squish and feel uncomfy.

newbie if I was in your position I would ring back and say that I know pre eclampsia is a risk with t1 diabetes and do they think that could be causing your pain. I'm not saying that cos I know anything about it, but I've had midwives dealing with me who don't really consider everything. That doesn't mean yours hasn't, but personally I would want to check. I'm sure baby moving about etc means everything's fine though but nothing to lose in double checking.

birdiesinthesnow · 10/12/2012 20:59

Ps well done apples on hospital bag progress and happy on card making!

lora was the sniffle a happy or a sad one?!

creepy that's good about your niece, and you'll have your very own babba soon!

BahSaidPaschaHumbug · 10/12/2012 21:11

Thanks, Lora I think? All vibes accepted anyway as Widg ^
was^ breech for at least 8 weeks so I am grateful if it stays down now.

Oh dear, sorry birdies Xmas Grin and nah you can't squish babies by bending down, lucky you for being able to bend, I have reached the stage of getting stuck in low seats and having no actual bendy point left now.

Apple in that case he will be doing all the shopping now won't he? Until the car's sorted? and that's what you've told the kids to remind him of?

Me, happy Linky ethelina Wed 11-Aug-10 18:12:18 here if you want to read my experience from last time.

BahSaidPaschaHumbug · 10/12/2012 21:14

mama totally with you on the toddler thing. DS has been poorly over the last 2 weeks really and the night before last took the biscuit, I didn't get any sleep til 4.30am and was up again at 8.30am, basically zombie'd through sunday. He was better today though and I have been chasing a demon monkey all day but I'm still knackered!

happyhow · 10/12/2012 21:16

Thanks Pascha. I suppose there's nothing to lose in trying it but still got reservations...

AppleCrumples · 10/12/2012 21:19

happy am actually getting dcs to make Xmas cards at weekend! This has 2 functions 1) stops them killing each other and 2) will make family members go awww! That said I really need to sort out school cards which will be about 60 this year... Xmas Shock

creepy after I washed them I just sat and stroked them! Can't honestly believe we are really doing this again. Will get them into bag tomorrow.

Started to panic yesterday that childcare for when I go into hospital is not organised, texted my dsis to say arrghh I'm so disorganized and she sent one back to say she has already cleared it with work to take off any time I need her Grin such a relief! Am now writing instructions for school runs...

newbie6 · 10/12/2012 21:23

Hi

Rang the MW again so just waiting on a call back, thanks everyone. Don't think it's a kidney infection or UTI as I seem fine and was at hospital last Wed and got my BP and urine etc checked and everything was fine. Hopefully it is just a case of pulling a muscle, oh the joys!

X

theboutiquemummy · 10/12/2012 21:59

Anyone else got puff ball feet ? Blush

newbie6 · 10/12/2012 22:18

Hi

MW rang back and told me not to worry, she thinks I have just pulled a muscle as I don't have any swelling or puffiness and my BP has been fine throughout my pregnancy. She also said if baby moving then everything is fine so looks like I'm just a dufus who has pulled a muscle Blush

Some rubbish news! Just heard that Homerton hospital is reducing its team of homebirth midwives from 6 to 4 - and of the 2 being 'rotated', one is my lovely midwife Angela. This means she's been given notice that she's going to be moved by the end of the month, so I will end up with a midwife who I've not met yet.

Partially rubbish for me as I've loved the continuity of care, but also really rubbish for her as she doesn't want to be moved and her team were not consulted about this before it was announced.

It really doesn't make sense. The home birth team is really successful and popular - often looked at as a shining example by other hospitals - and actually saves the hospital money...the homebirth team's recent statistics which show a 9% caesarean rate against approx. 26% in Homerton itself. I think there's something weirdly political going on.

The 6 person homebirth team has been in place for the last 2 years and has supported women who want to give birth safely at home. I am advised that at a level of 4 team members it will be impossible for the Homerton to guarantee a 24 hour/7 days a week homebirth service.

A bit of a plug - my doula has started a petition. Do sign it if you feel compelled.

Lots of us are writing to complain to the hospital.

knuckingfackered · 10/12/2012 23:46

I do not recommend moving house with a stinking cold at 8 months preg.
And the hell still hasn't stopped, crap everywhere, not enough storage clothes n boxes everywhere.
An organised nursery n hosp bag are not in the picture for some time, Q the contractions..........

theboutiquemummy · 11/12/2012 04:55

bealos that's rubbish typical bloody NHS management don't know their arse from their elbow Sad

knucking moving house Wowsers I think happyhow was doing the same thing at least you are in for Christmas one day at a time you'll get there xx

djvesi · 11/12/2012 06:23

Hey newbie, I really hope it is just a pulled muscle. You set alarm bells off in my head. I had preeclampsia with DS in 2010. I went to many specialists over two weeks before it was diagnosed. They thought it was gallbladder issues at first. The outcome was that DS was in NICU for a month after preemie birth underweight at 34 weeks. It was a bit touch and go at the time.

Of the ten or so doctors I saw at the time, only one of them spotted it.

It started for me with pains in my back, just below my ribs, especially after I ate a heavy meal, like steak. It progressed to seeing stars when I stood up or sat down quickly and in the end I couldn't sit up straight. My liver was failing! Just be careful and attentive and rest a lot if you can.

newbie6 · 11/12/2012 07:20

Thanks djvsei but I don't have any other symptoms apart from a stitch like pain and I remember actually feeling myself doing it as I was bleeding the radiators and think it was the twisting action I was doing but really appreciate you telling me of your experience, sounds awful and glad your are okay. X

AppleCrumples · 11/12/2012 09:43

Morning!

Sorry to hear so many worries! knucking wow moving house now!? I can barely manage the walk to and from school, I bow down to you!

bealos that's awful! They need more mws not less! Used to work for nhs tho and nothing surprises me!

Well I had a mummy fail last night! Ds2 tooth came out and the tooth fairy mysteriously failed to turn up Confused. He still has his tooth and no money. I told him the tooth fairy is really busy helping Santa and the weather was bad last night but she will come tonight... Whoops Blush

happyhow · 11/12/2012 10:36

Hey knucking. I'm in the process of moving too. It's awful isn't if?! We're currently staying with my in laws as the house isn't habitable at the mo. Some stuff is at our house, some is at theirs and it's so dusty/too much like a building site that I can't organise and unpack anything! We're supposed to be in by the end of this week but I can't see it. Hubby still seems to think it can happen but we currently don't have a bathroom...

PricklyPickleInAPearTree · 11/12/2012 10:36

Apple Grin very quick thinking re the tooth fairy being busy helping Santa.

Newbie Glad the midwife said it was only a pulled muscle. Its hard not to worry at everything now isn't it.

It seems now a lot of us are off work we spend our time symptom spotting, we're going to drive ourselves round the bend over the next few weeks aren't we.

My task of the day is to make some chocolate covered honeycomb - basically a crunchie. I've not attempted it before but it looks easy enough. Yum.

katolla · 11/12/2012 11:23

Hope everyone is pain-free and head down, i am reading you all every day but am usually on my phone where it's a bugger to comment. Jealous of those who sound like they're about to start, and sorry to pmgkt who seems to have the worst deal at the moment.

It's not that I'm not organised, but am i getting size 1 nappies to take to hospital or what? :|

MarasmeAbsolu · 11/12/2012 11:40

knucking / happy - I can empathise; our builder is still not out and has postponed the deadline by a week already.
However we finally have running water / a bathroom Grin!!! this is major improvement!
No gas or kitchen though; we will have to camp and cope with microwave / cheapo electric plates from argos.

We have been staying at a friend for over 3 weeks now, cramped in his small 2 bed. Poor guy, he is single and we are inflicting ourselves inc. DD onto him...
In a way it will be good to move back, but the dust remains a major worry - we have been hoovering the last 3 WE, with little success... and now the painting needs to be pushed on for the kitchen to be installed.

But eh... I'm sure it will work out in the end, as long as DD does not play up. After a big week at work last week, I just cannot get on with stuff this week, my brain is just stalling. Hopefully it will get better by tomorrow once I am back home. I am looking forward to looking at the baby stuff and attempting making the bag (I am 37 weeks tomorrow!) once we're back...

I am just hoping this baby does not come early - I have pre-op meeting tomorrow morning, but have been having very dodgy pelvis pain I did not experience last time (DD never engaged) - hopefully I haven't overdone it with the painting / cleaning.

Octane - don't worry about GF, or any book for that matter. I actually found it very helpful once DD was here, as we need routine at home (DH has aspergers), but in a pick and mix kind of way...

to all of you who hope for an early Christmas baby - positive vibes :) I happily give you my turn :)

djvesi · 11/12/2012 12:33

hey prickly, it is ways better to be safe than sorry at this stage. Fancy sending some of that crunchie over here?

katolla yep, I've got a mini pack already.

You guys moving house and doing reno now are HARDCORE: I had a fit about our main shower having mould growing in the silicon around the shower base. Cue DH to regrout and line the tiles. I thought he'd do just the lower part that was affected, but no, he's doing the whole shower, he got halfway about a week ago and then came down with flu. At this rate, we may have it working by mid Jan Xmas Hmm

pmgkt · 11/12/2012 13:46

Quick update. Section date pencilled in for next week, piglet was transverse this morning on rounds so they are happy its moving lots still.

AppleCrumples · 11/12/2012 14:04

Wow pmgkt so you could have a baby next week that's so exciting! Im sorry you've had such a hard time at the end but slightly Envy that you'll soon have a baby!

BuntysFestiveCollocks · 11/12/2012 14:14

How exciting, pmgkt! I hope all goes well for you, I know the section is your preferred option anyway. Can't wait for your baby news!
