Manda, Eigmum, October, Lexi, Backward, Three & Em, thank you for the reassurance over the naming 'issue'! If we did go for Charlie then we would call him Charles (on OH request so that he has a good business name in case he goes on to be really successful!!) but we would call him Charlie!

Hermione - happy belated 30th birthday Thanks - hope you had fun - you know you should milk this for at least TWO weeks!!

Three - hope you feel better soon - it's rubbish feeling ill Sad. Speaking about blood appointments - I have an appointment with the Blood Nurse at the hospital at 28 weeks - does anyone know if I'll be offered an Anti-D injection then? Nothing has been mentioned but I'm assuming it's coming up soon.

So, in terms of baby, so far all we have is one wooden duck toy (from my mum) and four unsuitable owl soft toys!! Organised or WHAT?! I'm starting to get a bit panicked that we are running out of time now and we are aware that we need to start shopping for furniture and essentials such as car seat, crib etc. I did notice the other day that there are quite a few deals on at the moment for nursery sets (bedcots, wardrobe and dresser changer) so we will probably go for that as it's easier! Is there usually a big wait list for delivery on these things? I have no idea how far out we should be ordering bits and pieces like this so any advice on getting our act together would be appreciated!!

I'm off to collect my new maternity jeans and work trousers from Next. Fingers crossed that they are suitable!

Oh, and I am beyond excited by the latest coffee flavours released by Nespresso that I've just ordered a load - and they aren't even decaf but I don't care (one every now and again won't hurt!). Coconut, Hazelnut and Macadamia Nut Grin.

zoeymlucas · 19/11/2012 13:16

Glad your feeling ok after your fall Manda if it helps the baby book says you balance will be off centre right about now and with 2 in there it must be WAY off :)
DS's have always had there own rooms but eldest was in the biggest room but we only have 3 bedrooms so someone had to share! DH wanted DS1 and 2 to share but with a 9 year age gap felt it made sense for the 2 little ones to be together as there is only a 2 year gap! DS1 took a bit of prusuading as he really wanted to share a room - however DS2 got in his room the other and pulled over some stuff and he realised if he was sharing he couldnt kick him out, lol! So the 2 sharing have moved to the bigger room :)

Will NOT be going to work tomorrow feel like rubbish and come in as I had meetings today and HATE letting people down but if I dont rest soon its never going to clear so tomorrow is a duvet day to sleep and mend! I actually cried leaving the house this morning as felt so rubbish and then DH told me off and said I need to rest and that was it - tears everywhere!
Happy birthday for yesterday Hermione hope you had a fab day x

Emus · 19/11/2012 13:18

Tramp Xposted!! You and me both! I feel the same way about being a bit unprepared in terms of stuff for the actual baby! We are ordering blinds at the moment for the spare bedrooms and OH asked me to look at some for baby. I did look but I feel like I want a 'theme' but until I get inspiration from somewhere, I don't want to just order anything for the sake of it!

I am SO hungry today - I don't know why, it's like it doesn't matter what I eat, I want more!!! I am resisting though. Right, Next, here I come.

LexiandBeanette · 19/11/2012 13:50

Zoey glad you will be resting tomorrow!
Tramp I'm also worrying about not being organised, it sounds like we are at a similar stage with lists made but not much done. However I keep telling myself there is little point going crazy until we have the space to store things, post-loft extension, and also I hope to have the January sales!
Agreed that manda it is worth looking into the small print. I hate pushy salesmen too and tend to dig my heels in when confronted with that technique!

theTramp · 19/11/2012 15:29

Ah ha - so there are a contingent of us. How funny. Like I said, I have done my research, I have my little (well not that little tbh) spreadsheet and my amazon wishlist (anyone who wants to buy baby something once arrived is welcome to pop on Amazon and see what we thought might be nice - seemed like something my Mum could cope with explaining to relatives etc) but it all just seems a bit "previous" to be buying things now. As you say, January sales are on my radar - even if it is a small discount it is better than nothing I think. Plus, we're bound to get something at christmas even though we haven't asked for it.

OP posts:
sundaesundae · 19/11/2012 15:33

I'm the same, have planned what we will buy, but have bought one cute babygro and hidden it away. After Christmas is the earliest, but I do need to work out the lead time for the pushchair!

Sheldonella · 19/11/2012 15:37

Hi everyone. I'm back after a very hectic weekend and have tried to catch up with all the news. The weekend was lovely, we spent the night in Oxford after exploring a little bit and then had Sunday lunch there and then went on to the midlands. We went to the natural history museum and joined a guided tour that involved standing still for a long time. I almost fainted! I guess I need to be a bit more careful from now on as it seems my stamina is much less that normal.

We had a lovely evening with some friends and I had half a glass of wine which I made last all night :)

I've been in horrible pain with my bump. It feels almost bruised right at the top, sort of on the surface rather than inside IYSWIM. I don't know what to do, I've assumed it is just a muscle that is being stretched but it is so uncomfortable.

Is anyone else finding their stomach capacity reduced? I need to eat smaller meals now or I end up with a horrible stomach as I did yesterday.

Lexi Your sleep problems sound much like mine. I can't believe we are going to get bigger and bigger! How on earth will we feel in a few weeks. Glad your architect has sorted things out for you. Fx the builder gets it all done quickly for you.

lanny Your orangery sounds lovely, pics would be fab :)

manda Sorry to hear about your fall but glad you are ok. We too were at a pub by a river with geese in your home town on Sunday, I wonder if our paths crossed! Grr to the pushy salesman, asking when your husband is home, what an idiot! No experience with window companies certainly but my parents used a local one through recommendation and couldn't be happier with the results.

Emus I agree that it would be fine to use the name, colleagues don't stay colleagues forever.

tramp I crash and burn in the week after a heavy weekend too. I have today off to get over my busy weekend.

zoey I saw the fb posts about your worries and am very glad that you felt some kicks in the end. Hope that infection is clearing up.

Hermione Happy birthday for yesterday!

October Sorry to hear about the vomit bug, I hope you manage to avoid getting it yourself.

Three I got to 24 weeks on Satuday too, we must be due date buddies :) It feels good to get there doesn't it. Sorry to hear about your DD, hope she isn't suffering too much with that.

Oodthunkit · 19/11/2012 16:40

sheldonella yes to smaller capacity but I'm eating little & often so must be eating the same volume!

Can't remember who else said anything Blush baby brain + pain + lack of sleep

Home from work early today feeling too rough. Colleague tried to send me home at 9:30 but am convinced once I have had one day off I won't get myself back.
Couldn't get Drs until Thursday and have MH MW on Thursday so one should be able to advise on work.
Am hoping it's a bad day rather than a deterioration.

GummiberryJuice · 19/11/2012 17:01

Manda I have quite successfully went my whole adult life without falling(except once at Silverstone) but I have managed to fall in every pregnancy, thankfully no damage done, but ouch for your hip

Emus I second what everyone else says use the name if you love it (I love Charlie) afterall whose to say you won't be friend someone else in years to come with a Charlie or as other say you may not maintain along friendship with this friend.

Three Grin sitting in the cinema with vampires its making me chuckle

Hermoione Happy belated Birthdayeveryone has gave you flowers so I shall be naughty and give you Wine

Tramp I'm amazed at how organised the Marchers are, my eldest is a March baby and I refused to buy or let anyone buy anything until after Christmas. My MIL bought me a case and filled it with jammies etc for my hospital bag and gave it to me for Christmas so that was officially my first stuff.

Sheld My bump got achey a week or 2 ago and I must say I think I have a more noticeable rounder bump now and can feel the baby kicking really high up, way above my belly button, but if it continues say to mw, same with eating I am just stuffed and I can't bend over or it just comes back up abit (yuck), I really cant imagine what size I am going to be by March!

OctoberCarrot · 19/11/2012 17:11

I wouldn't worry about getting a whole lot of stuff. Just basics and some simple baby gros and you will get lots of presents and when you are feeling up for it want to go to the shops and buy some stuff for the baby in the buggy. A lovely way to pass a few hours some days! I bought bulk from john Lewis and had it sent to my sister who brought it over on the boat. Liked their basic baby gros so went with them. Also bought cellular blankets in cologne and cotton - recommended by a friend - super soft and have lasted really well.

www.cologneandcotton.com/epages/CologneAndCotton.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/CologneAndCotton/Products/CB_Master

Second time mums. Any tips on whitening baby gros vests etc. would love to get them gleaming again!

DS is doing well god bless him. He hasn't eaten much and has had horrific nappies but trooping along. Spent the day cleaning every surface which was very therapeutic and made me feel very industrious.

Hope everyone is doing ok esp with aches etc.

lannyshrops · 19/11/2012 20:54

Evening all!
Happy birthday for yesterday hermonie cake for you!
How lovely for you feeling all the kicks manda what a lovely story.
Boo for back pain lexi maybe baby lying back to back? Maybe a poke will move him/her???
Oh zoey I'm so sorry you are still feeling unwell, but well done for deciding on a duvet day tomorrow, hope it does the trick!

Had a MW appointment today, all is well and as should be! My next appointment is the week before Christmas. I just realised that it will only be four weeks after that that I will be finishing for maternity leave, yikes!!!
I feel a bit bad that I can't join in on the buying things discussions, I actually don't think we need to buy anything with all the bits and pieces we have from SIL and my cousin. I don't however have a proper grip on what we do have as it is all scattered about in various houses etc. looking forward to after Christmas when we can get it all here and really see what we have!

Love to all xxx

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 19/11/2012 21:28

Hi all
Still not caught up, but needed to come on for distraction as am on tenterhooks as my best friend is in labour. Has been a long old day! She started at midnight last night, went to birth centre late this morning and now has had to have her waters broken A's she got to 7cm and then has been stuck there for 3 hours. Aarrgghh! Hope the baby will be here soon!

Hope you're all ok, will try to catch up a bit now! X

zoeymlucas · 19/11/2012 21:30

Ahhhh heartburn Sad
Someone at work asked if I was ill because I am pregnant- not unless my frigging head is pregnant too!!!!

Just been to toy shop with mum and she got boys presents from her, not telling hubby as he will just moan!!! We had very different up bringings- when he was a kid his mum spent a max of 50.00 in total per child so bikes etc were never new! To me Christmas was the time you got the thing you most wanted practical or not and lets been honest kids are cruel and comparing presents etc and don't want them missing out :)

OctoberCarrot · 19/11/2012 21:48

zoey. That is lovely. So exciting getting Christmas presents. Can't believe how quickly it will come!

DS is back to himself. Thank god.

On a little high. Am really looking quite pregnant now at 24+2 and DH - not a man for many compliments - says I am looking better than I have in a long while. In bed with a silly grin on me. So easily pleased!

Hope everyone is doing well. Looking forward to a good nights sleep I have to say.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 19/11/2012 21:56

Hi, just caught up on last day or so's posts.

Manda hope you're feeling better after fall; it's easily dine especially on sloppy leaves!

Emus as most have said, I wouldn't think twice about the name. Really wouldn't!

Sheldon, re sore bump, I had three nights like that last week. Was generally in the same place on the left hand side and after I'd been walking. Luckily seems to have stopped now, do don't know if it was a muscle, or the baby in a funny position or something?

Lexi, hope your back has improved. Not much fun. If it doesn't improve maybe give GP/mw a call.

Hermione, belated birthday wishes! Hope you had a fab time!

Right better go, see if there's any more baby news! X

GummiberryJuice · 19/11/2012 22:25

Zoey we are the Christmas is the one time we really spoil our dcs, don't get me wrong they ask for one main present then list all the other stuff they want and I always try for afew surprises, I pick affordable things off lists for uncles etc so they end up with most things, except dd2 as she just wants the whole toy book lol

backwardpossom · 20/11/2012 00:08

Woohoo finished knitting the vest! Grin I've put a pic on FB for you to see. Excuse the tea stain on it - I'm going to put it in to wash now...

mandasand · 20/11/2012 00:46

Hey ladies!

Had a cracking work day today (which usually means tomorrow will be pants, but nevermind!) punctuated by really vigorous movements from the babies. At the top of the bump they seem to go mad. I guess there's no muscle there to mask the kicks and wallops! I've convinced myself they prod me on demand - certainly if I chatter to them and tap my belly at the same time I seem to get more movement. Still a bit freaked out by it all, though! Feels a bit like my belly's alive with snakes!!

Tramp, Zoey, Ethel and lovely others, thanks for sympathy re the fall. I don't think I did myself or the babies any damage and my acheyness today has been plain old aches and pains - nothing out of the ordinary, and in fact am walking much better than yesterday. But I shall have to watch my step! (And maybe get some really good grippy boots for winter!)

Zoey rest up well tomorrow, my love! You work so hard - you v. much deserve it!

Keep us posted on your double-glazing thoughts, Em!

Emus I have one (proper) coffee a day and am comfortable with that! Gives me the necessary kick up the bum first thing Smile

Sheldon glad you had fun in Oxford! We had lunch at our local in Iffley (The Prince), then fed the ducks at Iffley lock and then the boys got very excited about the prospect of another pint at the Isis Farmhouse on the river ? but that's about 1.5 miles south of town, so I bet you prob stayed more in the centre? Ohhhh, I hate guided tours! I get impatient and start blanking out! Smile My bump feels really sore a lot of the time, but in different places, so I reckon it's either growing pains (it is growing v. fast!!) or just where I'm being kicked and prodded and elbowed!

Gummi funny what you say about eating. I have big appetite especially in the evening, but on more than one occasion have eaten a full meal and cried because I'm so uncomfy afterwards! DH is training me to have two 'sittings'. So tonight I had a child's size portion of veg sausage, potatoes, carrots, peas and celery gravy ? and I've just now had the same again! Bit late, I know, but brill!

Ethel hope all goes well with your friend's birth!

Possom good luck with getting that tea-stain out Wink Vest pic is awesome...

night night! xx

Oodthunkit · 20/11/2012 07:59

Anyone who was listening to my moaning yesterday am a lot better today!
Woke up with v little pain. Bit achy now I'm moving but I can stand without crutches. Must have been another blip.
V relieved!

HermioneBoo · 20/11/2012 08:16

Good Morning Everyone! Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes, I had a lovely day. My mum came over (she hasn't been to our house in 2.5 yrs so lots of things to show her) and we went to have a huge Sunday lunch with all the trimmings and then went to Denby factory shop where I could have spent a lot of money :). DH is taking me shopping for a charm bracelet today, I've been checking out the Pandora and Trollbeads websites and think I've made my decision but I feel guilty for how much they cost. I told DH this and he said he sold his Xbox and games for the bracelet as its not only a 30th birthday present but a thank you from him for looking after BabyBoo so well so far. Not sure if I feel even more guilty that he sold his beloved Xbox or better as its more of a thank you present!

We've also got a personal shopper appointment at John Lewis today to sort out the last bits that BabyBoo will need. I'm not super organised, it's just our friends and family have given us so much already I went through the baby stuff list on FB and our own list and we seem to have pretty much everything we wanted. I even have paper pants! We're finalising decisions on pram, cot, changing table (chest of drawers really as I'm sure I'd use a mat around the house more) and car seat today. Also a Kiddicare has opened near us so I'll be on a recce mission!

I have to have small meals nowadays too, I'm 23 weeks today and eating like I had to when I had ms otherwise I'm in tears because I'm so uncomfortable before bed. I am eating more often though and due to my birthday those snacks and cake more often than not :)

I had a little wobble yesterday as yet another thing sunk in yesterday, my SIL rang up, she hadn't sent me a birthday card like she usually does and she just spent the whole phone conversation talking about BabyBoo! I got a tiny bit upset as (this sounds awful so I apologise now) its not going to be about me anymore, I asked my friends not to get me baby related presents for my birthday - not because I'm in denial, bit late for that! When my SIL called I wanted to say that I'm still here, I've not been replaced by a bump! It's not that I'm not grateful for everything and I love BabyBoo already and I'm sure I will willingly give up all attention when she arrives. It's just a bit of a shift isn't it?

I asked DH if I snored at night now, he woke up this morning and said that he fell asleep after me last night and realised that I don't snore, but BabyBoo does - made me laugh :)

zoeymlucas · 20/11/2012 09:25

Have fun shopping Hermione I can def recommend the pandora I love mine and I love adding to it- DH got it for my birthday and then 2 more charms for wedding anniversary - am goin got pink and purple :)

Have tried contacting my mid wife today as ain't seen her since 16 weeks or even heard from her- she even just sent my MATB1 in post but no response from her as normal!!

Nearly caved and went to work but was strong and am laid in bed in dressing gown still :)

ThreeForTea · 20/11/2012 09:36

Ooh, any baby news from your friend Ethel?

Hermione I think those moments are really common. It can be so easy for people just to talk to you about baby, but I think most of the time people are just excited for you. I really have to remember not to be like that with pg friends. Bide your time, you're not going anywhere and the same people will be really grateful when you emerge from maternity with your own personality intact, not just someone who can only talk about your children!

Not going to finish this post as dd keeps trying to push buttons!!

LexiandBeanette · 20/11/2012 09:50

Zoey I am glad to hear you are at home!
Hermione I can really empathise, I have had little wobbles where I feel I am just turning into Beanette's mum and no-one is interested in talking about work, or anything else except this rather obvious bump! I got quite down about it as I was convinced I'd only get baby gifts for Christmas as I do feel a little like I don't exist any more, but DH told me at the weekend not to be so silly. It is a strange process as your identity and priorities naturally shift a bit, but until the baby is here you don't really know how much they will shift or how your new family will work and feel Smile
And that comment about BabyBoo snoring is too cute!
Thanks for well wishes re: back pain. Covered bed in pillows last night and took paracetamol before I went to bed and got a slightly better sleep, car journey to work and desk is rather sore. MW appt tomorrow so I will ask her for her advice too.

Em2010 · 20/11/2012 10:01

Morning All,

Manda really pleased to hear that your twins are so wriggly. Must be so strange having two of them squirming about in there!

zoey hope you are not at work today? And having a good rest.

Ethel any baby news??

Hermione your birthday sounds lovely, I must be very hormonal at the moment as I got all teary reading how your DH sold his x-box to pay for your present. How sweet!!

I'm another one who isn't eating big meals. I seem to get full very quickly. Most unlike me! Have been feeling tired and coming down with a cold so far this week which is also making me feel sick so not in a brilliant mood today. DS is also being extremely testing. Seems to be 2 going on 13 with delightful phrases such as; 'no! Don't touch me!,' stropping out of rooms shouting 'Don't talk to me' followed by a slammed door (well as much as a two year old can slam a door) and a lot of 'Go Away!'. If he doesn't get his own way then we get a huge paddy!! Ah and to think I thought my angelic baby had escaped the terrible twos!

Oodthunkit · 20/11/2012 10:39

Dh finally felt baby today! My stomach was jumping and still he wasn't feeling anything Hmm think baby is turning again as its really big movements inside and out.
