ha ha I'm laughing at the thought of my husband's cricket bag Liliana. It's huge, not sure what he keeps in there but I could seriously live in it Grin

I think i'll be ok, the holdall should remain in the car all being well.

Tea was lovely, DH ate it super fast and had seconds so he must like it.

MissMummy1 · 05/11/2012 19:16

I have a dark nightie to give birth in, 2 other ones that are front opening and debating throwing in a pair of dark cosey jammies. Have a pair of maternity leggings to wear home as they're uber comfy!

Has anyone else packed a change of clothes for their other halves? Was going to stick something in the emergency bag in the car for dh but now contemplating putting a nice top in our bag for him to stick on for the first few photos.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/11/2012 20:02

mm. I haven't, I figure he can take card f himself. Is that selfish?

Defo a show. Definately contractions of some sort, whether they develop into anything we will see.

Number 2 silly question, should I call anyone or can I jut plod away at home until I can't bear it?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/11/2012 20:03

I'm feeling a bit scared now.

WaitingForMe · 05/11/2012 20:05

DH is taking a spare set of clothes MM. The birth unit is really warm and I've insisted he take a set of summer clothes. He'll go in in jeans, top, trainers then change when he gets there otherwise he'll be boiling. He'll then change back into his jeans and top to go home. It's all in the man bag that he didn't want but now loves and uses every single day

misslaughalot · 05/11/2012 20:45

Spent the whole afternoon researching different reusable nappies. I know it's been covered on this thread before, but I really can't keep up with all you guys and the rate at which the thread moves!

I think we're going to go for the Little Lamb OSFA nappies, does anyone have experience with these?!

kissyfur · 05/11/2012 20:45

Oo exciting sophia! Don't be scared you'll be fine. I'd ring them and see what they say if you're unsure - good luck!

misslaughalot · 05/11/2012 20:46

Oooh good luck Sophia, sounds like things are getting started with you!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/11/2012 21:04

Contractions seem to be about every 6 mins. Am hoping I can stay at home till the morning, but I think I will text my babysitter just in case. Have just rechecked the labour bag for the umpteenth time, not a lot in that, some slippers, wash stuff, hair bands, homeopathy stuff and tens. My mind draws a blank at the other bag!

FatimaLovesBread · 05/11/2012 21:06

Ooh exciting Sophia. Give them a ring now if you're feeling nervous.

WRT DH, we're doing similar to Waiting. The birth centre is hot so they've said to bring shorts. SO he'll go in whatever he's wearing, then in his snack bag he'll have shorts, t shirt and flip flops.
I've also popped a change of underwear and clothes in the "stay in the car holdall" in case we decided to stay for a night and he wants to freshen up.

I've been reading a thread about giving yourself internals Confused, has anyone here done it? Does anyone poke their cervix? Detective What about you what with being a midwife and all?

DesperateHousewife21 · 05/11/2012 21:12

Good luck sophia!!

fatima I was going to ask that question but then thought if be the only one and feel embarrassed. After reading the other thread I had a go but couldn't feel anything/ don't know what I'm looking for. I just seemed to go on and on...ill give it another go tomo Grin

kirrinIsland · 05/11/2012 21:15

Does having a show mean labour is imminent? I've had bleeding since Saturday (confirmed as a show by my midwife this morning) so I'm starting to feel a bit cheated that nothing has happened yet!

Sophia sounds exciting! 6 mins is pretty close together isn't it? I can't remember at what point they advise you to go in?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/11/2012 21:28

I don't think it does really, it could still be weeks, but the only time I have ever had one before is after a sweep and then things have happened in the next 24 hours. I had that funny night as well last night with what seemed like contractions that tapered off if the morning.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/11/2012 21:29

I can still talk through them so think I should be ok Confused

Peaky1 · 05/11/2012 21:37

Sophia - I've been told to go in when they are 1 contraction every 4 mins. Don't go in pain levels, everyone is different! Hope it all goes well! Smile

Peaky1 · 05/11/2012 21:37

On pain levels, not in pain levels!

blonderthanred · 05/11/2012 21:41

Good luck Sophia. I think you can call the labour ward to let them know, even though you won't be going in yet. Especially if you are feeling anxious.

Peaky1 · 05/11/2012 21:42

AND that counts from the start of one to the start of the next one (rather than timing the gap of respite). Exciting! I'm jealous!

Misslaughalot - there's a bunch of threads on nappies that I use and VQ and Blonder are usual suspects there too. I can't check for sure on my phone unless I lose this message I've typed but I think the nappy board is in the 'products' section of Talk. I've bought LL OSFAs but as you know already I've yet to test them!

jenbird · 05/11/2012 21:57

Good luck Sophia.
Kirrin A show means things are heading the right way. I was told it could be weeks but with D's 1 he was born 4 days later and with Ds 2 it was 12 hours later. Could be anytime.....or not!

I am 38 weeks tomorrow but the builders are coming so need to wait until at least Thursday really. My ds1 would have been born this Friday in this pregnancy but don't feel like anything going to happen soon. Did have slight panic that nothing was ready yesterday so everything is washed now at least.

Feel pretty good at the moment too so not wishing the time away.

Chunkychicken · 05/11/2012 21:59

I was just going to say what blonder said Sophia - if you are having regular contractions then you should let the ward/assessment unit know, just so they can manage their patient load etc and reassure you if you're feeling anxious. But don't feel anxious, you have done it before, it'll be fine and then you'll meet baby!!! Good luck :)

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/11/2012 22:04

I have spoken to labour ward and they seem pretty chilled at the mo. they said if the bleeding was just like blood not mucus to call again, it is hard to tell as the pads are quite absorbent but my interpretation is that as it is Blood tinged rather than just blood is ok. Am keeping an eye....

blonderthanred · 05/11/2012 22:10

Misslaugh I have also bought the LLs but DS is just too teeny at the moment and even on the smallest setting they seem loose - I know VQ already has Jacob in reusables but I think they may be small sizes not osfa. DH is v keen to use them but even he agrees we are a bit overwhelmed at the moment & we'll look into options in next few days.

Dixiebell · 05/11/2012 22:12

Poor DH is still on train home from London 4 hours after he got on it...it's an hour's journey but train kept breaking down. Were both looking fwd to a relaxed evening with Downton and early night. Now waiting for him to get in still and he hasn't eaten yet. Nightmare. Good thing he's not rushing home because I'm in labour or something...

I tried to find my cervix a couple of weeks ago Grin

Turns out, I either have short arms, short fingers, or a huge frickin' bump. Or maybe a combination... I couldn't find it. Well, reach it should I say!

I've got more gloves and lube here... maybe I could give it another try Grin

Just got home from fireworks. Got stuck in traffic. Got one of those BH's that makes you wonder if things are starting. I was driving. Was considering asking the police if I could be let through. But then lady in labour driving may not go down too well... and I wasn't in labour. Damn it!

Got home and the dog has had a bloody party while we've been gone. I think.

Clary sage bath ready and waiting... off I go!
