Morning all! Quite a dramatic evening for us last night, but nowt to do with baby Grin

DD had a cold and raspy breathing all day y'day. She seemed fine though, eating and drinking ok and went to bed nicely. Then monster new sofas delivered at 10pm, which took the two removal men and DH an hour to get in the house as they were so ma-hoo-sive, and the front door somehow got removed in the process. Our lounge is now full of sofa. They are lush and so comfy though, and the big arm chair will be perfect for supporting bfing (I had to do it rugby ball style with DD).

However, after that all finished DD woke up coughing, puking flem and really really rasping and distressed. NHS direct called the out of ours dr for us, who sent us up to our walk in centre at the hospital. By the time we got there, DD was smiling and waving and saying hello and vastly improved (typical). However, lovely dr gave her steroids as she has croup apparently. Poor DD. She's fine this morning though. But a bit scary. This is the first time (21 months) she has had more than a sniffle.

Comedy moment when the dr asked if there was anything else so I thought I would mention I was pregnant in case it was relevant/an issue. The dr asked how far along. Marvellous. At 38 weeks with a potential 9/10lber according to scans, I still dont look discernably pregnant. And that's not a compliment.

Anyhoo, late night and bad sleep as I had DD in with me means today I shall mostly be sat on my new sofa demanding DH bring me nice things to eat.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 29/10/2012 08:44

Whoa, essay Blush

TheDetective · 29/10/2012 08:56

I'm feeling all hot and flustered. Hormones are driving me mad! I want to go home. I hate hospitals!!!!!

Iheartpasties · 29/10/2012 08:58

madam That must have been pretty scary. I hate it when dd is ill! Your sofas sound lush!!

Iheartpasties · 29/10/2012 08:59

when will you get to go home detective?

TheDetective · 29/10/2012 09:01

After a scan. Hopefully this afternoon. I'll discharge myself if the scan isn't done by tea time. CTGs are ok and baby is active. So that is fine by me!

georgee · 29/10/2012 09:10

Sorry you're in the hozza detective. Hoping you'll be able to go home soon, baby sounds absolutely fine anyway! I seem to remember having no toothbrush for about five days when I was in after my EMCS last time Blush.

Worrying business MadamGazelle with your DD. Glad she's better today. Our DD was bad with a cold last night and up a couple of times but nothing worthy of NHS Direct. At this late stage of things you just feel you need to be conserving sleep if you can so when the older DC is sleep-depriving you, I for one get a bit panicked! Hope you get to lounge a lot on your lovely new sofas today.

DH was somewhat limited by a bad back this weekend so the car seat remains in the garage and the bath and pram in the loft. I really want to get everything out by the end of this week, then I feel I can relax a bit (yeah, right!).

No visits from MIL this week and I don't have any other childcare so facing 5 days straight with just me and DD - this wouldn't be a problem in normal circumstances but I just don't feel up to lots of entertaining and trips out. DD keeps going 'Mummy tired', poor thing. Hope it's not too boring for her! Library's a good idea chunky - we'll have to take the car but that's an hour or two killed.

Titsalinabumsquash · 29/10/2012 09:20

The community midwife called first thing and is heading to my house before clinic this morning. She didn't sound uber pleased to be told the score, she'd been given a brief "call this lady and arrange a sweep for sometime in the next 2 weeks"
Terrible nights sleep here up all night, dropped off at about 5am then woke with cracking headache.

DesperateHousewife21 · 29/10/2012 09:24

The only thing I've got planned today is the mw at lunchtime. So I'll either take ds out for a walk before or after depending on my energy levels!

applepieinthesky · 29/10/2012 09:41

At least baby is moving around now detective, that's good news.

I'm waiting for my Tesco shopping to arrive so that's my excuse for having Quality Street for breakfast. Later my nana and auntie are coming round to see baby's nursery. Then going in town to buy some dark nighties from
Primark so I can finish my hospital bag.

Iheartpasties · 29/10/2012 09:42

Oh lord! This baby is trying to burst out of my stomach! yikes.

Iheartpasties · 29/10/2012 09:43

I'd love a big tin of quality street - yum yum yum.

ShellyBobbs · 29/10/2012 09:45

Glad all is well Detective you must have been so worried! I have had my first nights proper sleep in months and months, I can't believe it. Also despite eye rolling from the midwife, seems as though Sudocreme is the magic cream I thought it was. 1 day of proper slapping it on and the itch has all but disappeared, still very rashy though.

StuntNun · 29/10/2012 09:47

Georgee I'm the last person to advise on DHs and lofts but our car seat had somehow gone quite mouldy (don't see how as it wasn't put away damp and nothing else up there is mouldy) so had to be taken outside to remove the covers for extensive washing. Maybe you could mention this in passing to your DH to get him moving.

I'm still feeling down so I'm taking the boys to get new shoes (conditional on them having gone up a size) and trousers (they have both shot up since the end of summer) and will treat myself to a Subway big beef melt while out. They're so yummy, basically a cheeseburger but with as much salad in as you want. I love salad but can't be arsed with it at home as the menfolk won't eat much so that will be a nice treat for me.

Tits Hope you get some joy today!

georgee · 29/10/2012 09:51

Stunt thanks for the advice. Mould would be entirely possible, the amount of time that seat has been hanging around in semi-damp places. Plus, I just had to say 'Whooarrrrr!!!' for the Subway sandwich, sounds DELICIOUS ...

Crossing fingers once more for you Tits

ShellyBobbs · 29/10/2012 09:52

Stunt Get something nice for yourself. You really need to look after yourself and not get so wound up after the time you have just had. If the very worst happens, your hubby will be running around like a blue arsed fly and your baby may have to use one of your towels and sheets for a few days, it won't notice or care Stunt. Your hubby however will be at your disposal for months and months and will have a life time of shame to live down!

ShellyBobbs · 29/10/2012 09:54

Right, I'd better get my arse out of bed!

DesperateHousewife21 · 29/10/2012 09:57

stunt that subway sandwich sounds sooo good, I haven't had a subway in yonks.

Iheartpasties · 29/10/2012 10:09

Just had a crunchie! yum.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 29/10/2012 10:19

Glad to hear that baby seems a bit happier detective

Good luck with midwife and all the phoning tits

As for me I'm ok. Pelvis getting worse which I didnt think was possible but that's prob due to the slip last week and now weight of baby pressing down where it's already grinding. Can't see how the pain will just go after baby is born, especially as I'm hyper mobile and wanting to breastfeed so relaxin will hang about longer! I've stupidly pinned all my hopes on this daycare assessment tomorrow which is followed by antenatal clinic. Hoping that even if they won't induce me over next few days that at least they will give me a date which for my MH would be better. Something to work towards almost.

Subway sounds fab! If only they delivered. Our tesco shop came yesterday but I ordered random crap snacky things rather than food! Dextrose tablets for labour anyone!?!

Peaky1 · 29/10/2012 10:23

Is DP nesting a sign of labour? He has just decided to defrost the freezer (something we've put off for an embarrassing length of time and defo something I would be doing, not him.) It's got to the point where I can't open most of the drawers in there [hshock]. Aaah I've got a diamond there...and I hope I'm right about the nesting!

Today I'm going to the local shopping centre to meet NCT ladies for coffee and caaaaaake, buying witch hazel while I'm there and treating my car to a mini valet as it's a total shit heap at the min. I've not cleaned it once since I got pregnant and I used to be very particular about cleaning my car. It's quite sad how excited I am at the thought of having a sparkling car by the afternoon!

I am also still pondering and researching next car options. My lease car goes back mid December. I think buying brand-new on finance plans might be a bit too much for me but what are people's thoughts on hire purchase VS bank loan to buy a 2nd hand car?

TheDetective · 29/10/2012 10:27

I need a rant! Poor DP is going to have to listen to my rant when I get out of here!

I am not here to discuss my plans for labour. So kindly fuck off and leave me alone. All I wanted to know was that my baby was okay. And he is. So GRRRRRR off.

I'm just glad the cervix grabbing has resumed with gusto.

Peaky1 · 29/10/2012 10:30

Tits I think you need to go and take Detective's place at her hospital! Just get yourself out of there as soon as you can. Surely they understand your birth plan?

kissyfur · 29/10/2012 10:31

Hello all

stunt again I sympathise with you re: lofts and house being a tip. Sounds like you really need some 'me' time and a treat today. DP spent all of yesterday putting together our new ikea wardrobes which were unexpectedly delivered yesterday instead of today! He had help from my sis and bro in law and it took them til gone 11 last night! Needless to say as the bedroom had to be completely cleared everything is in a total mess! Also had to sleep on a mattress on the floor last night as we didn't manage to get the new bed put together, which was interesting when i needed to get up for the loo in the night.

Had to get up at about 6 this morning due to the awful hand and arm numbness, it's soo painful till the blood come back! Really tired and my cough is lingering.

Thankfully my mum us coming over to help in a bit.

Sorry for the moan! I know in the grand scheme of things I've had thing easy Blush. Just 2 and a half weeks to go for me til c section date, can't wait now Smile

Good luck for today Tits hope you have some success
