Lorelei353 · 22/10/2012 12:06

pear that's a new symptom to me! I'm a few weeks behind you though.

Thundernonk · 22/10/2012 12:09

Why pear, what happens when you try?

OP posts:
FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 22/10/2012 12:26

Still crossing them here pear but you are a week or 2 ahead of me too. It will get easier again when bump moves upwards.

MrsBri · 22/10/2012 12:54

That's an interesting one, Peardrop! I'll wait for that one :-) Only 5+3 here so ages to get there.

I'm liking all your boob hiding hints, BTW! At least they've stopped itching for now, as that was driving me to distraction in bed last night. May go shopping for new tops after seeing the nurse tomorrow afternoon. :-)

Lorelei353 · 22/10/2012 13:01

I haven't had itchy boobs mrsbri but they are sore - not too bad thankfully.

Restless legs on the other hand are driving me mental. Could not sleep for them at all last night and trying to avoid taking paracetamol if I can help it. Had to get out of bed at about 3.30am to lie on the floor with my legs up the wall for 10 mins. Only thing that works!

MrsBri · 22/10/2012 13:17

I'm restless generally in bed...and since getting one hell of a twinge turning over the other night, it now takes ages as I do it so slowly! :-/

My boobs are only sore if pressed in the wrong place, and so far my nipples aren't sore, just occasionally itchy!

Isn't pregnancy odd?!

Lorelei353 · 22/10/2012 13:29

It's really odd. It's taking quite some getting used to! And it's going to keep changing and changing too. Quite the ride we've signed up for!

peardrop2 · 22/10/2012 13:40

Lor you said it! Quite the ride!!! When I cross my legs it puts a lot of pressure on my tummy, like I suddenly become very aware of tension down there...so hard to explain! I know where baby is sitting now so maybe because its so low and central that's why I struggle to cross legs. As Frus suggested I guess it will change when baby moves up!

peardrop2 · 22/10/2012 13:41

Frus do you know when abouts baby moves up?

fashionvictim · 22/10/2012 13:54

Hi everyone!!! So good to see you all, sorry Ive been AWOL Blush

Wow, the bus looks amazing! Nice work Smile I'm a Gemini so loving the name - it hadn't occurred to me that's what the star sign will be!

Hi MrsBri congrats and hope you've had an amazing time away!! I get quite painful twinges in the night if I roll over to quick - good to hear it's not just me.

And my nails are so long and strong, it's ridiculous!!

Pear I crossed my legs under my desk the other day and had such a god awful twang in a muscle down there, I actually yelped (always wanted to use that word!) I think everything is stretching and moving about...

Thundernonk · 22/10/2012 14:10

Good to see you fashion, buddy although finding your talons a bit disconcerting

OP posts:
FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 22/10/2012 14:58

No idea I'm afraid pear it just needs to pop above your pelvis and it'll be better for crossing legs, not for anything else

bringonthetrumpets · 22/10/2012 15:51

Hey Lorelei. Try taking some calcium/magnesium supplements for the restless legs. That and leg cramps are a sign of magnesium deficiency, which is really common in pregnancy. You should be able to find a 2:1 ratio (like 1,000mg calcium/500mg magnesium or something similar) at a vitamin store. Tablets are good, liquid is even better.

Pear The top of the uterus should be peaking above the pubic bone at around 12 weeks (or sooner for moms who've already had babies), and it should start to make it so that you're not peeing as much, as often and you'll start showing Smile.

peardrop2 · 22/10/2012 17:01

bring great, thanks for letting me know! Two weeks to go then!

Lorelei353 · 22/10/2012 17:14

Thanks trumpets. I've always suffered from restless legs, but hormones have always aggravated it. Regular exercise/yoga usually keeps it at bay but I haven't been going as I'm too knackered/the idea of doing it makes me want to hurl.

fashionvictim · 22/10/2012 17:30

Ha ha Thunder they are pretty spectacular! Like proper gel tips or something you would pay good money for!

Oh and bit of advice for us 1st timers, I had to see my GP for something non-pregnancy related today and she said I should always come armed with my hand-held notes and a (fresh) urine sample, no matter what. Ooops! Technically I haven't booked in with the midwife but I do have the pack so should've thought about it.

She asked how I was feeling generally and when I told her I felt pretty crap, she actually said ''That's what we like to hear'' !!

I think I like her Smile

bringonthetrumpets · 22/10/2012 17:33

I so understand where you're coming from, Lor. I tried yoga last week after taking a break and had to just sit in pigeon pose for the rest-felt so sick! Really looking forward to the 2nd tri.

Anyone having crazy cravings for things? I've got plenty of aversions but lately have been wanting to just eat salt and vinegar crisps and jars of pickles (gherkins I believe you call them over there....). Please tell me I'm not the only one....as I'm feeling like a crazy woman over here.

MrsBri · 22/10/2012 17:42

Now that's just worried me, fashion, as I'm not feeling too bad really. Tired and unmotivated, with occasional twinges and a cold. But OK, all in all.

I did just refrain from buying more Clearblue conception indicator tests. What will be will be, in the end. I was pregnant and either will have a baby at the end or not. No amount of POAS is going to change what happens. Philosophical now!

ella0 · 22/10/2012 17:49

Hello, I'm joining from the previous thread.

fashion I don't get to see a doctor/ midwife until my 12 week scan (they book you in at the same time) and they didn't mention anything about bringing in a urine sample to that (maybe they'll make me do one after the scan).

I'm 7 weeks today and feeling fine, which is slightly worrying. No cravings but I have gone off food; I feel full after a couple of mouthfuls of food, and I've totally gone off certain foods.

fashionvictim · 22/10/2012 17:54

Oh no Mrs I'm sorry, I didn't mean to worry you Blush
I didn't start feeling rubbish till I was over 6 weeks, so you never know. But then my SIL never felt poorly once with her 2 DC's... so you might be one of the lucky ones Smile

Jojoba1986 · 22/10/2012 17:56

Hello everyone! I'm still recovering from yesterday! Spent from 9-4.30 with a smile plastered on my face while feeling absolutely exhausted. When I was finally at home & got rid of various family members I collapsed in a heap & slept for nearly 5 hours straight! It would have been longer but 'D'H kept pestering me to go downstairs because he thought we should spend time together on DS's birthday. as if a 1yr old knows what a birthday is I completely lost it when he said "I don't understand why you can be doing things all day & then can't even come downstairs." Angry He made it sound like I was choosing to be so exhausted I couldn't keep my eyes open! Sad

This morning I was hoping to avoid going to the toddler group I help run but our team of 8 was down to 4 so I felt obliged to go! Spent the entire time sitting still & looking zombie-like! People kept commenting & mentioning the p-word but I kept insisting I just hadn't gotten over being 'ill' last week, without specifying the cause of said illness!

Oh well, I've had a long sleep this afternoon & we get to open DS's giant pile of pressies tonight! That'll be fun! Smile

fashionvictim · 22/10/2012 18:01

Hi ella I think they will assume you'll need a pee after you've drunk loads of water before your scan Smile so will probably get you to do a sample there and then. Think my Dr was just trying to make me a bit less of a newbie more prepared for my booking-in next week.

Please don't worry that you feel fine. I shouldn't have said anything. I think the Dr was just trying to reassure me that it's normal to feel dreadful too.

Thundernonk · 22/10/2012 18:03

nic you have plenty of time to feel crap, so no worrying.

fash, armed with fresh urine?! I know about carrying the pack around- is everyone else's huge?! But armed with a pot of your own piss at all times? Crikey.

bringon, I've craved ham sandwiches and tinned tomatoes so far. Now just indiscriminately hungry mostly.

OP posts:
MrsBri · 22/10/2012 18:04

Don't worry, fashion, we'd worry either way! And whether you'd said anything or not. :-)

Should I take a sample to my nurse's appt tomorrow, do you think?

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 22/10/2012 18:11

nic you have plenty of time to feel crap, so no worrying.
Exactly thund. Grin nic you can have some of mine. I have plenty. Envy
