Welcome aboard the Gemini bus Blending how fabulous that we have some twins on the bus! Grin very fitting.

I have a lot of bloat today. and wind I am very relieved to get home and stick my comfy maternity jeans on and let my bloat bump hang out so it were. Have ordered some maternity trousers for work, as I was really struggling today not to pop the button.

blending I have a suspicion I'm having twins as I'm so huge, although that could just be 3rd dc, no stomach muscles, and serious bloating ishoos. fx I've only got 2 wks until scan, where i'll be told im just fat and then I can let it all hang out.

MrsBri · 05/11/2012 17:53

Hi Blending! Very exciting to be having twins. I kind of hope I am too :-)

I have 3 factors on my side to say I may. But we will see what my private 8 week scan on Sat has to show!

Thank you for further birthday wishes. I can't wait to get home. So bloody hungry today. Thank god for the birthday chocolates given to me at work today!

How are we all this evening?

Thundernonk · 05/11/2012 18:38

Hi all.

Congrats and welcome blending! So exciting for you to find out your twins news. How has your pregnancy been going so far?

How's your symptoms tonight thunder? Still MIA? I think mine are easing but still have bad boob twinges, I think they are finally starting to grow, I nearly fill my old normal bra hurray no new ones needed for me though I don't reacon
Pear if I had the doppler I'd be using it every night lol Grin

Thundernonk · 05/11/2012 19:53

Yeah mine are still pretty minimal. Tiredness still there and I feel pretty crappy this evening but I know that's down to not eating properly today- will not skip lunch again!

Good boobnews!

Welcome blend! Very exciting to have another join us :) And a huge congrats on the TWINS! How are your symptoms with having to deal with two little balls of hormones affecting you?

Mine are starting to fade too, kitty. 9 weeks exactly today, so I'm hoping it's because we're nearing the end of the tri and I'm just getting used to it. Definitely happy with not feeling like Envy all the time anymore!

Maybe your uterus moved upward, pear? Congrats on being able to cross your legs once again :)

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 05/11/2012 20:34

I have, um, zero factors, in having twins. unless you count a generous helping of sod law, horrific ms, and being bloat-tastic Grin

thund you are very naughty for skipping lunch, I had beatroot, potato salad, coleslaw and salad cream sandwiches. Yum. and hat's normal without being pg, the pg added; 2 sweet pastries, a kitkat, a mini mars bar, curly fries, mini Jaffa cakes and rice pudding. and I wonder why I'm getting fat? Grin strangely I could only manage a bowl of cerials for tea.

pear leg crossing sounds promising.

MrsBri · 05/11/2012 20:36

Yay to leg crossing and boob growing! :-)

Just bought 5 new tops from Asda which are floaty / tunicy to cover my growing bump. Looking very bumpy tonight. 7+2 seems wrong!

Going to look online for skirts now.

I do like a bit of shopping. :-)

Thundernonk · 05/11/2012 20:38

I have some twin factors, the biggest one being my mum's a twin.
Yeah I won't skip lunch again whilst pregnant. I can do it normally, but it's not worth it nowadays.

Funny if we were still TTC we wouldn't be celebrating pear crossing her legs

How old are you Frustrated? Being over 35 (if you are, I have no idea!) increases the risk of twins.

Obese / over average height (I'm the latter!) increases risk.

And it runs on my paternal side. Last 3 generations, that we know of, have had twins. Nobody in mine yet. But I'm almost the last to have a child / children.

Thundernonk · 05/11/2012 20:47

Over average height as in 5'6"?

OP posts:
peardrop2 · 05/11/2012 20:48

You ladies make me laugh...celebrating my leg crossing! Grin DH has agreed to get the Doppler out again tonight so I'll report back whether my uterus has moved up or not! I can't believe that you ladies haven't purchased a Doppler yet!! I think I brought mine at 7 weeks not inpatient at all!

I love the idea of some of you having twins!! Maybe because I know it's deffinately not me hah hah!

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 05/11/2012 21:00

33 mrs but am over average height. But by itself it means nothing as I have 2 singletons. it needs the bmi to go with it, and mine is within the "normal range" all be it on the high side, but not high enough for twins

Is horrible ms a good sign? I feel Envy tonight.

Thundernonk · 05/11/2012 21:02

That's the only thing my mw asked me when I mentioned the twins thing... Have you had particularly bad ms?

OP posts:
MrsBri · 05/11/2012 21:04

I think so, Thunder...I assume the more over the average you are the higher the risk? Not entirely sure, just know that I'm nigh on a giant!

My midwife friend has advised me against a Doppler as she says they're always taking calls from people who hear something that bothers them / don't hear something. I'll stick to that advice for now, I think! (As tempting as it is!)

Oh, Next has some lovely maternity wear. Potentially too early?!

MrsBri · 05/11/2012 21:08

I'm not actually sick much. I am constantly nauseous from getting up to almost bed. Though that isn't a reliable sign, particularly, as some people aren't that bad even with twins.

I don't think you have to have the BMI to go with the height, Frustrated, the article I read suggested it was either / or. My BMI was on the low side of normal.

I'm not too bothered either way, but I know my family are taking bets!

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 05/11/2012 21:08

I'm on meds, and I can still feel it lurking, thund Not been this bad previously. dds both had a 2 hr window of ms late evening

MrsBri · 05/11/2012 21:09

Poor you, Frustrated...I don't know how you are coping :-/

Thundernonk · 05/11/2012 21:09

Hmmmm interesting. I'm tall, but BMI of around 21 which I think is normal ish.

I didn't think twins on fathers side counted towards it? Hmm then my grandad having a twin brother and twin sisters counts towards it too?

OP posts:
FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 05/11/2012 21:13

I'm not sure either mrs I think it's the thought that however bad it is, it would be worse without the meds. At least I'm managing to eat and drink these days, and not being sick often as long as I don't cough

FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 05/11/2012 21:14

I'm 5"9' and bmi of 25 (I think that's what the midwife said,)

MrsBri · 05/11/2012 21:16

Hmmm...I don't know about paternal sides not giving twins. Would be good if it didn't!

Actually that could be my get out! Nan was a twin, she had twins and one of her daughters had twins. Looks like maternal line, doesn't it? Win. :-)

My BMI was just below 20 at my thinnest, but about 20.5 when I got pregnant, so similar, Thunder.

I'm not sure I want twins. The idea of travelling on the train when heavily pregnant fills me with dread anyway, let alone heavily pregnant with 2!

MrsBri · 05/11/2012 21:17

Do either of you actively want twins, by the way?

Thundernonk · 05/11/2012 21:19

I understood that fraternal twins travel down mothers side because of hyperovulation being hereditary for women.

Sometimes I think that all this logic is very well and good but it doesn't always work like that in reality!

Poor frus. You're 10 weeks now eh? Should pass soon, fx

OP posts:
FrustratedSycamoreBonks · 05/11/2012 21:21

I don't honestly think I have much of a chance, and I'm not entirely sure I've cope with 4 without loosing my sanity. it's just something that gets me thinking at this stage every time, I'll be calmer after my scan
