Just checking in...

Apologies for being quiet but just absolutely shattered! Sleeping better as restless legs seem.to have stopped so main issues are pain from hips/pelvis. Trying to take it easy (not heading out of the house) just to try and minimise walking as that is quite uncomfortable. Am having a look around to try and get an appt with a chiropractor or something just to see if there is anything they can do - I know I can get a referral for something via midwife/gp but by the time that's done it could take 3-4 weeks to hear anything and LO is due on just over 2 and a half.

Trying to build up the energy to do tidying/sorting around the house as last minute "tying up loose ends" needs to be done. Started final year of degree on Saturday and have also got first piece of coursework with a hand in date of 3rd Nov so want to get that done and out of the way too! Hmm

Have been sitting on gym ball on and.off since Sunday to help with pelvis - it does ease it a bit Smile (although it's bloody difficult getting off the damn thing!) and it's also made LO drop a bit further Grin

Have also started getting an increase in crampy period type pain (which for me I've figured must be BH) which is positive, bit I hate stomach ache/period pain at the best of time so it has left me feeling a bit grumpy/wiped out.

Hope everyone is ok - am catching up on phone rather than computer so difficult to name check - but sending hugs and Thanks to everyone! Might not be on here all.the time bit think about you all lots x

OctoberOctober · 09/10/2012 22:18

Agree with smileyhappymummy's rec for bras, bought a couple of bravado bras from there and been v good.

Always checking on phone so not so easy to post and name check but enjoying frequently catching up on everyone's news. Grin

Currently 39+4, had mw appt yesterday and she said she would do sweep next mon if nothing happening - anyone on here had that done and did it have any impact with DC1?

bella2012 · 09/10/2012 23:01

october I had one with DS and labour started that night. It was a long one though but that was prob more to do with baby's position. In my area we have to wait until we are 41 weeks for one! Mayn! I don't want to go that far over!

kyria good to hear from you and sorry you seem a bit down at the moment. Not surprising with all those symptoms-lots of sympathy. Hope you get an appointment with your chiropractor.

Kyyria · 10/10/2012 02:04

Spoke too soon - 2am and wide effing awake yet again! Angry

Midgetm · 10/10/2012 03:50

I'm with you Kyria having irregular contractions and can't sleep at all.....

LoopyLa · 10/10/2012 05:58

Hugs to Kyrria & Midgetm Biscuit?

I'm also up, awake and have been since before 3.30 Sad Not sure what the point of afternoon naps are if they don't help me sleep during the day or night - I'm actually a bit worried that if I don't get more sleep I'm going to make myself ill which won't help at all come childbirth/looking after a newborn Hmm I thought I'd sleep better if I wasn't thinking about work & being busy with activities in the day so why can't I sleep better??? Angry

Kyrria interested to hear about bump dropping ? mine still seems perky & high, don?t know whether I should be taking steps to ?encourage? it to drop OR are these things supposed to happened naturally? Confused

And thank you Dr Smorgs, I like your prescription!! Smile

Sorry for the downer, best get a Brew on...

hufflepuffle · 10/10/2012 05:58

So this is new to me. What does one actually do awake at 5.30 sitting in the living room?? Usually I get back to sleep or decamp to other room and half sleep. This time I just got up! But now I'm sitting here eating choc digestives trying to be quiet and not wake DH. Can't exactly curl up on sofa and read as I don't feckin fit!! Dum dee dum. Will go catch up your wee hours posts ladies...,,

LoopyLa · 10/10/2012 06:09

Morning huffle grab a Brew, put the telly/radio on & start browsing/shopping/generally looking at crap on tinternet Wink

www.philips.co.uk/c/avent-baby-breastfeeding/breast-pumps-includes-4-oz-bottle-scf312_01/prd/?t=support

Something useful!!

Who has no instructions for their Avent single electric breast pump ???
I have one Blush keep meaning to look out and see if can give u any insight, but a bit of googling and there we go!! Directions for use are near the bottom of page.

Check me out, I even did a link!!

hufflepuffle · 10/10/2012 06:23

Morning Loopyla! Vainly thought I might snooze on sofa but now mind is wide awake. Dare not disclose this to non pregnant people. Another enfuriating wave of "ooh, this is your body getting ready for sleepless nights" and " ooh you'll get used to that"! Blah blah blah. Mother nature is not that unkind, just can't feckin sleep cos we are uncomfortable and brains going mad!!! Too early for my one cup of proper tea. Might hav some raspberry leaf tea. Hmm. Kno tis impossible but I'm wary of early labour cos only got my WC jab last Tues and would like to hav as near 2 wks as possible for antibodies to form before bubs born. Not that one cup gonna do it.....! Should be up to several by now apparently!

La la la la lah. (huffle not good at quietly doing nowt and if DH awake too early he will hav even less productive day :-( )

londonlivvy · 10/10/2012 07:13

Lots of insomnia last night! I was awake from two til about 3.30, with brain whirring helpfully with lots of to-do lists. Argh. I should have got up and moved to the spare room as DF looks knackered too, today.

Oof. Tired.

Kyyria · 10/10/2012 07:42

Oh huffle I so wish I didn't stupidly voice my issues - announced at 1am, when I was wide awake and knackered, that I was wide awake and knackered. Why do people insist on saying "it's all good practice get used to it"...I want to scream! It will be very different once LO is here - I will be able to lie down without wanting to be sick due to reflux and without being on the verge of tears every time I move 'cos my pelvis feels like it's dislocating!! Getting up 5 times a night to feed/look after a baby sounds ten times more appealing! And I'm already effing used to it because I've not had a decent night's sleep in nearly 6 months!

Why are people such fucking insensitive idiots!?! I'm in tears now 'cos one of the comments has just pissed me off so much. I'm in agony and I'm tired.

Have now started the day with crampy BH. Oh joy!

Worst thing is I've probably been guilty of saying similar things to pregnant ladies on the past!

Plus, despite spending the majority of the night snoring, DH is in a foul mood as I've kept him awake half the night.

squidkid · 10/10/2012 08:00

hugs Kyyria
I've been up since 5am here soothing baby squid who didn't want any more feeding but just didn't want to lie down
Fed her at 9, 10.30, 12, 2.30, and 4.30 too
Still much nicer than not being able to sleep/move in late pregnancy! At least you have someone to cuddle! NOT LONG NOW. Thanks and Brew and Biscuit

Smorgs · 10/10/2012 08:04

kyyria big hugs sweetie, sounds dreadful. I had another patchy night's sleep but not too bad, but the cumulative effect of repeated nights not sleeping is making me so sleepy still.
I see it was a man who made that stupid comment?! What a Nobber. Why do they always come out with such obvious 'jokes' that they think are hilarious and you'll never have heard them before?! Grrr on your behalf.

hufflepuffle · 10/10/2012 08:15

Yes Kyyria...... Saw that!! Wanted to type in large capitals OH JUST FUCK OFF MAN!!!! (apologies if he is a loved one...... Blush)

Sorry to say it again and am sure u hav had lots of advice but did u see my comment recently about physio telling me to use feet to move self in bed?? Knees bent, knees closed and push against mattress or side of bed with feet. I know pelvis is only one if your probs but being my main one that helped so much. And I kno u nearly there but my 2 physio apts were I think 37 and 38 weeks and the relief was blessed. I did have via NHS but would happily pay.

Sorry, I may be winding u up further.......!

And yay for Squid!! Thank u for confirming our notion that a night up and down with baby is infinitely easier than feckin pregnancy related sleep deprivation!!!! Hugs to you and Jess, thanks for popping in!! Xx

Londonmrss · 10/10/2012 09:01

Loopy, I've read that bump drop should just happen naturally- if you force it, you could make baby engage in a bad position (although that was on spinning babies, and I'm not fond of that website).
My bump is still really high and she's still basically kicking me in the tits all the time, so no droppage here... but she seems to be extending downwards and I'm feeling a lot more pressure and heaviness lower down. So I think she's engaging, it's just my torso is too short for it to have that lightening effect I was looking forward to.
Kyyria poor you. I agree that the 'get used to it' comments are really irritating. I keep saying to my husband in the night 'Can't you just take the baby for a bit please?' and he points out that soon he will be able too- it will all be shared, and the physical discomfort will be gone. I've got into the habit of having a bath when I can't sleep. 3am might be a strange time for a bath, but with dim lighting in the bathroom, it relaxes me enough so that I can drop off more easily once I'm back in bed.
I don't think it's such a bad thing to have an afternoon nap if you can. It does affect my evening sleep, but at some point I'm going to go into labour, possibly in the evening sometime- so I want to have kept my sleep levels topped up as much as posssible.

Kyyria · 10/10/2012 09:12

Thanks all - don't worry, he's not a "loved one" - an old (distant) friend from college who has a way of opening his gob and pissing me off. Not the first time he's said something that has got hackles up - he's pissed DH off before. Think it may be time to unfriend! His response when I announced preg was "about bloody time, should have done this ages ago" - didn't particularly think it was the right time "ages ago" and despite the fact we conceived quickly and naturally I thought he has absolutely no idea whether it's been straight forward or whether we'd had problems.

huffle I did see your advice about moving with legs (it is slightly more comfortable) but it's still agony. Have to build myself up and hold my breath when I turn. There's also, during turning and gettingout of bed/cars, waiting for the inevitable clunk as my pubic bone clicks. I"ve found getting out of bed/cars with both legs together really helps with that one. Everything I've read has said not to sit/lie wig legs open, but I have to say that I still find that the most comfortable position. On the plus side women with SPD are supposed to have easier births as your pelvis is overly flexible...can only bloody hope so! Grin

Bloody restless legs made.an appearance last night again too.

My god I need to cheer up! Grin On a positive note I can't wait for little one to get here so that all the discomfort stops.

Lizzietow · 10/10/2012 09:17

Also not sleeping well- my eyes look so puffy an swollen! Keep waking at 3am and not getting back to sleep. Maybe I should watch shopping channels but instead I keep worrying about stuff which isn't good!
Strangely in an upbeat mood though now. Anyone else having wild mood swings? Can go from being the grumpiest ever to really positive.

hufflepuffle · 10/10/2012 10:22

Birth plan in notes filled in!! Feel like a rebel answering the synometrine question in the negative.........! Might get a cross MW!

YompingJo · 10/10/2012 10:45

Wild mood swings? Check!
No sleep again last night? Check!
People commenting "helpfully" on how this is nature's way of getting me used to no sleep once baby is born? Check!
Thoroughly nobbed off? Check!

But if you want something to make you smile, have a look at the bump art pics on my profile - partly cos we had such fun and DH is talented and they are cool, esp. the James Bond one, and partly because DH is ridiculously a bit insecure and left for work with a worried "will you tell me what the Mumsnet ladies thought of the bump paintings?" as he wants some reassurance from you lot that he did good (bless, he's such a man) and I don't want to tell him that no-one looked, he will be very sad Sad.

Smorgs · 10/10/2012 10:56

yomping they're awesome! Love the planet. Sometimes it feels like mine has its own gravitational force. Bless your dh for doing that. Mine is totally unarty (in a painting way, he does like doing woodwork and engineery-type stuff though I spose?) I'd never be able to persuade him to do something like that, so sweet. What a cool thing to show your little one when it's older.

Kyyria · 10/10/2012 10:57

I.think they're fantastic yomping - the James Bond one was fab Grin

Ah, bless his little cotton socks about being worried about the review. He's a talented chappy!

londonlivvy · 10/10/2012 11:11

oh BLESS your DH yomping. So lovely of him to have spent time doing it. Loved the James Bond one.

My DF gets a gold star today for seeing how tired I was (and not commenting on how tired he must have been given that I had wriggled all night) and saying "thank you for growing our baby". Bless.

My clients are all being super demanding (4 phone calls from one already this morning) and I don't have the heart to say that I am just too tired to care.

Oh and thoughts, ladies... we need some storage in the playroom / babyroom. We've been given quite a lot of toys already by my sisters (mostly appropriate for older kids) and also books etc so seems like a good idea to have an organised space for it. I was thinking of IKEA Expedit. Fine. They do home delivery so we don't have to go. Fine. Except that the first available delivery date is 26th October. My due date is 1st Nov. Would I be mad to book it in? I figure she's unlikely to rock up early... Alternatively I COULD go to ikea on my own on Monday, but I'd need to flutter my eyelashes at a store employee to get them to load it onto my trolley and then persuade someone in the carpark to then put it in our car as it's two packs of 30kg each. DF would not go to Ikea. He's been once this year and that's his quota. He hates the place with a fiery passion that means that a trip with him is rendered joyless to say the least. Thoughts?

hufflepuffle · 10/10/2012 11:12

Flip!! Sorry Yomping!! Did read that yesterday but totally forgot to look!!! They are FAB!!!!!!!!! What a guy!!!!! James Bond is my fave one!!

And yes, my bump has own gravity too.... Most felt on that first lie down of night when go from standing to lying in left and actually feels like (as I told DH only last night....) one of those Atlas Balls from World Strong Man on my tummy and feel at risk of rolling right out of bed!!!! Wedge pillow has defo been my absolute best pregnancy purchase!!!!

DH currently doing lots of painting. But our new house, NOT my tummy, more's the pity!!!

Xx

bella2012 · 10/10/2012 11:34

yomping they are awesome! He has done such a great job and that must have been such a laugh for you! Loved the james bond one the best! Well done him! And those facepaints will come in handy later-our ds loves having his face painted! And we have had numerous trial runs of what he wants for his pirate party on Saturday!

I am so happy rigt now that the fourth balloon shop I went into has finally consented to fill up the pirate ship balloon I bought online. i completely lost my rag yesterday at a woman in the first card shop who wouldn't fill it up even though I had armfulls of cards, wrap and another balloon. When I said I would put it all back and go somewhere else she said 'I don't care!' arghhhhh!

It is my Granny's 87th birthday today so me and DS are taking her out to lunch. I hope she manages, bless her, because since her stroke she is very frail. But I am sure she will be her usual awesome self and order a large glass of vino as usual! Ha ha!

Love to you all and def have an aftenoon sleep- as Livvy says, you migt need it. We never know when we have stumbled on the day that is THE DAY! (Although my baby is not allowed to come until after DS's party on Sat)
