Widget has been told to arrive naturally at home on the 15th dec sometime in the early hours Grin.

BuntyCollocks · 16/10/2012 15:15

Hopefully they'll listen to their mummy's then! DH is convinced that she will arrive teh 17th, though. I am sticking to 14th (my last day at work - fingers crossed I don't make it in!).

Birdies · 16/10/2012 15:57

I just ate 3 chocolate bars in a row. And I don't feel better for confessing. Anyone else a big greedy fatty boom boom?

pmgkt · 16/10/2012 16:03

Piglet was breech until I scrubbed the kitchen floor. Not only does the floor look better but I'm not getting those kicks down the bottom. Maybe try that, Victorian house wives didn't have breech babies very often!

AppleCrumples · 16/10/2012 16:05

Birdies since I stopped throwing up I can't stop eating crap! Really loving those cup cakes from asda mmmmm!

On the topic of babies arriving all mine have been late and as I see no reason for this one to be any different fully expect baby apple around 26 jan (am due 22) any earlier than this will be considered a bonus :)
although sometimes I think ds2 held on til Xmas eve on purpose!

Lora1982 · 16/10/2012 16:12

ok my hips are killing i cant walk without a shooting pain down my thigh. and the bood woman bruised my arm then the anti d woman shoved the jab in my arse :(

Pascha · 16/10/2012 16:20

Yesterday I had 2 custardy danish things after for breakfast and then bought more to replace them so DH wouldn't suspect. He got them out at about 8.30pm and brought mine to me - neatly sliced in half! The other half was still in the packet in the kitchen. He had a whole one on his plate! My face must have said it all because he wordlessly pointed me in the right direction and I scoffed the lot Grin

Pascha · 16/10/2012 16:24

Oh god pmgkt do I have to do housework? Trouble is, I get down on all fours and DS thinks its an invitation to do Horsey Horsey.

Apple DS was 9 days over so on that basis I'm likely to go to 8th Jan which I really don't want but is better than having a cs at christmas.

Lora doesn't sound like much fun, can a physio do anything for the leg pain?

Birdies · 16/10/2012 16:29

pascha I first read that as your 'DH' likes to play horsey hahahaha!

lora I knew there was another anti d person on here. I also get a similar pain but mine feels like my leg isn't joined to my body properly, so sometimes I can hardly even put weight on it. I don't know what that is though. Possibly all the chocolate is going to one leg and making it ultra heavy!!

Ah good glad I'm not the only one - my midwife didn't seem too fussed when I told her I have a treat every day (mind you, today has been 3 treats, in quick succession. In fact I thought eating them quickly might somehow make me feel less guilty...didn't work, just feel a bit full now!!)

BuntyCollocks · 16/10/2012 16:41

I generally have 2 bowls of cereal in the morning now Blush

In my defence they're not very big and I'm greedy

If I go by how late DS was (fully 14 days), I'll be hanging about until 11th jan. Wouldn't be terrible ... But I'd prefer to go home for Christmas, and I'm not risking giving birth anywhere but my hospital of choice she says, blithely ignoring the insistence of attending a wedding at potentially 39 weeks in LONDON

BuntyCollocks · 16/10/2012 16:43

Oh, for those of us with previous sections - I read they're more likely to make you go earlier with subsequent babies. I also base my 14/12 prediction on the fact that I (1st baby) was 2 weeks late and my sister was 2 weeks early, where DBIL was 10 days late, and DH was 10 days early.

I am following that pattern. So there.

AppleCrumples · 16/10/2012 16:44

Pascha they are getting closer to the due date, dd was only 3 days over unlike ds1 who had to be induced 12 days over. Am aiming for 26 so that I don't end up disappointed and frustrated. Also if it follows the pattern might get lucky and have it actually on my due date!

Lora sorry to hear your in pain is there anything midwife/ gp can do to help?

Stupid car still sitting uselessly outside my house whilst kids moan that I never did the shopping and we're out of biscuits! Hoping bil will be over later to jump start it

SquealyB · 16/10/2012 16:46

Let's hope the babies are taking note of delivery date requests. I just want mine to come a week or two early please.....

Scoffed three french fancies at a meeting this afternoon Blush. I am consoling myself by saying at least they are small.

I am deathly allergic to housework so this baby best not be breech Smile.

On a slightly more serious note, I have been struggling a fair bit with anxiety issues and have been really emotional. I am a massive control freak and have been getting very het about about having EVERYTHING ready and done for the baby asap (despite the fact that 26 Jan is a fair while away). I am worrying about every little detail, completely unable to relax and I am pretty emotionally volatile. I am keeping it together at work but really taking it out on poor DH. Finally cracked last night and had a massive sobbing meltdown about it all, and admitted how worried I was about everything and how sorry I was for being a massive bitch. I think I am really worrying about the baby being born healthy and well and this is something I can't control, so I am trying to control all external factors instead.

As this is DC1, I have no idea if this sort of normal in pregnancy, or if I have finally flipped my lid Confused?

Pascha · 16/10/2012 17:06

Wink birdies

Pascha · 16/10/2012 17:09

Perfectly normal squealy. Tell DH that its hormones and only sugar will help in the form of cake. Lots of cake.

AppleCrumples · 16/10/2012 17:13

Squealy think this is fairly normal but if you feel too bad you should go to midwife/gp and they can help. I suffer from awful anxiety in normal life and have found CBT really helpful. Mostly you sound normal! Hormones will make you feel vulnerable and of course it's scary having your first! Try preg yoga it might help you to relax x

mrsbugsywugsy · 16/10/2012 17:32

Birdies I have serious sweet and chocolate cravings. It's really strange as I used to be a 'savoury' person, I've never gone in for sweets and cakes much...until now!

Squealy I feel your pain, I am also a confirmed control freak. I think the pregnancy hormones have a lot to answer for too, I cry over nothing these days. Agree with Pascha that cake seems to help Grin

One thing I can't deal with is when Dr's / midwives just tell you that everything is fine, don't they know that I need details, so I am going to have to go home and google every single measurement they've given me just to double check?

I'm trying to chill out a bit by doing pregnancy yoga, meditation, etc.

MamaMary · 16/10/2012 19:19

Had an appt today and midwife went into a lot of detail - showed me my bump-size on the graph, told me the baby's heartbeat rate (145 - does that mean anything to anyone??) Told me my blood pressure - often they don't.

On another note, I ate an entire packet of Thornton's mini chocolate cakes today Blush

godzookey · 16/10/2012 20:34

evening all

squealy i feel your pain - i nearly cried at work today as have big client presentation tomorrow pm and the MD who is coming with, doesn't like the work - aaahh!!!

But honestly, i just don't care - i'm so over it, how the hell do i cope for another 8 weeks, plus my replacement already snapping at my heels - nice as pie to my face but i wouldn't trust her as far as i could throw her - she'll love taking over all my clients etc etc

OK and breathe..right rant over, back to watching Bake Off now!!!

allchik · 16/10/2012 20:48

pascha im having wee problems too, infact the other day my hubby mademe laugh n I a little bit wee'd myself, then when he realised he proper cracked up which a little bit made it happen again (the shame!)
Also,my bdays xmas eve n I def dnt want my kids to be...eek!
squealy oh bless u :( def speak to ur midwife just so shes aware but im sure its hormonal n natural,im kinda t op to u,fine at home but getting really stressed at wrk.

woody2313 · 16/10/2012 20:52

Having a bit of a nightmare this evening - am a teacher in a secondary school and a girl in my tutor group has just revealed she has Shingles... my colleague (who is just ahead of me pregnancy-wise) called her midwife who insisted on a blood test and told her not to go in for the rest of the week... I spoke to the MLU who were clueless, have since spoken to a doctor who thinks I should be fine having had Chicken Pox before but advised me not to go into school until I've spoken to my midwife in the morning... He seemed a lot more positive than my colleague's midwife but I'm feeling really Confused - don't want to take time off but don't want to take any risks when my baby and I are concerned... Surely all doctors/ midwives should be giving the same advice?! Confused

allchik · 16/10/2012 21:31

Bloody hell Woody, nightmare! What u gonna do?I find the mixed info a nightmare aswell..I teach at a sec school too n often worry about that type of thing, had a case of TB a while back...look after urself n ur bub x x

Pascha · 16/10/2012 21:35

If you've had chickenpox (varicella) you should be immune as you have antibodies in your blood already. Chickenpox is extremely infectious, spread by airborne droplets. Shingles is not very infectious as it is spread by shedding skin from the area of rash which you would then have to pick up.

You can catch chickenpox from shingles but if you have had chickenpox before you should be immune. You can ask the GP to get the lab to test your stored blood for varicella antibodies. If you have them, you are fine. If not they can give you a vaccination.

I would be inclined to agree with the doctor.

Bunny222 · 16/10/2012 22:26

Hey all. The SPD seems to really be taking hold now, thighs with shooting pains at night. Phoned my GP to chase up my referal from a week ago, only to be told they hadnt even written the letter... Grr! They have promised that they will do straightaway.

Had a real stress earlier as hadnt felt any movement since yesterday, so after much badgering from colleagues called docs, who checked the heartbeat and all ok, altho he said the heartbeat was going fast then slow but that this is normal??

Also, sounds dramatic, but had an awful dream that my blood tests showed sonething was wrong with bump that theyd need to act on as soon as he is born, and that he would only survive til he was 3. I know its just a dream but it freaked me out a bit and couldnt tell DH incase it upset him. Anyone else getting vivid dreams?

SquealyB · 16/10/2012 23:46

Eeek woody sounds scary. I would err on the side of caution.

Thanks for all the reassurance, nice to know I haven't gone batty and to hear that I am not the only control freak out there! mrsbugsy I do that too. Have started preganancy yoga so hopefully that will help a bit and will pass on the cake prescription.

godz your replacement sounds dreadful. I'm not sure how well I'll do handing over my clients etc to a locum. bunny hope the pain eases up that sounds dreadful.
