JoJo - see what your OH thinks, but from what you've said upthread it sounds like surgery now, not key hole, is their recommendation & for sound reasons.

I'm not a fan of surgery for surgery sake and the possibility of losing an ovary would worry me but I'd be more focused on the complications & damage a burst cyst can do - considerably less appealing than potential 1% risk from the surgery. Also a C section isn't nice. It's a tough decision though and I don't envy you one bit. Sounds like your consultant has been v open with you, which is good. Suggests someone who is trusting you to make right decision rather than dictating.

theTramp · 18/09/2012 17:46

Dentists - grrrr. I swear all they want to do is drill bloody holes in your mouth. I've had my
Mouth trashed by dentists but rarely improved. I trust them about as far as I could throw them. I'd go for a dental plan but honestly I'm too tight to pay. One of these days I think I'll splash out with a good dentist in Harley St and say they can go for their life but knock me out first.

GummiberryJuice · 18/09/2012 18:53

Jojo that is a tough one, I would do as manda said and maybe start another thread asking for anyone's experiences, although surgery does sound the better option

Sheldonella woohoo for 3d scan, exciting

Tramp I'm a fresh cream girl myself but unfortunately it doesn't work in my celebration cakes, although I do add a secret ingredient to my buttercream which seems to go down well wil my customers

lannyshrops · 18/09/2012 19:02

Evening all! Good day had by everyone?

Jojo, whatever you believe is best, what a horrid decision to make, I'm sure that whatever you do will be the best either way xxx

I have some definite flutterings, at first I thought it might be wind but it feels totally different! Feel it when I'm sitting down and relaxed or in bed at night. We decided to believe its movement and its so so so lovely! [Grin]

I was wondering about mrsrigby too

FloweryBoots · 18/09/2012 20:22

Cor, one day off adn it takes an hour to read through everything!

JoJo What a tough decision. Don't feel I can offer any advice as don't know anything about any of it, but impressed by how calm and posative you are staying!

Who was it with the dentist phobia? I'm so bad I could barely read the posts about the dreaded D word and struggle to write about it. I'm sure I'm worse than you, but I did manage to get to a much better place with the assistance of a superstar dentist. Sadly when he left and I was faced by a different dentist which I wasn't expecting, my recovery went all to pot and (whispers) I've now not been for over 2 years (and whispers even more quietly) have two broken teath. I should really do something about it all but can't face it. Last time I went was early days of pregnancy with DS1 and was recomended not to have any treatment until after birth because of the risk of my stress to unborn baby. I will try to tell you more about how the nice dentist helped me if you want to PM me.

Very interested by the online shopping chat. I keep saying to DH we should ty it but he seems dead set against it, despite hatingthe supermarket shop (and since I don't drive he has to go as nearest supermarket not really in walking distance). Maybe I can pursuade him, sounds liek Ocado is the way to go, though I would have expected it to be more costly than most seem to find it.

Boobs - mine are only just starting to get a bit sore and a bit bigger, I actually fill my little A cups now instead of just wearing them because it's as small as I can get!

Weight, I've put on about 4 or 5lb I think, but did loose a few earlier too so could count it as more.

Sarah definately counting down the days to mat leave here. Only been in my job about 7 months and it's not worked out the way I hoped adn I'm really not enjoying it. Would not have stayed if hadn't got pregnant pretty pronto and not intending to go back after mat leave. Not quite sure what I will do though as really don't want to work full time and finding a new part time job is harder than negotiating working hours in an existing one generally. Feel for you though!

That's as many things as I can remember to comment on!

lannyshrops · 18/09/2012 21:05

Crying at the great British bake off! What's that all about!!

JoJoBella84 · 18/09/2012 22:08

sarah and flowery I'm already counting the days to maternity leave and I don't even have a job, just my studies!!
I feel desperate to get to Uni now but by Christmas I'll be stressing about exams and I really don't like that at the best of times, never mind when I can't take beta blockers to keep me calm!

Em2010 · 18/09/2012 22:24

Hi All,

Just marking my place and saying hello. Haven't had a chance to catch up on posts but will over the next few days. Last few days have been awful, lurching from one family crisis to another. On the plus side though had check up with midwife today and heard the heartbeat.

Ttfn!

mandasand · 18/09/2012 23:19

Just stopping by to say that no-one told me that my belly button would change! Just did my usually is-my-bump-getting-bigger-or-not mirror moment and oh my giddy aunt (as someone said on telly earlier) my belly button has gone all funny! I have quite a discreet within-the-recess outy, which I like a lot. But I have the sense it's going to become an out-and-out outy, which always make me feel a bit squeamish ? not sure how I'm going to handle this!

Anyway ? navel-gazing, moi?!

In other news, am sat in bed with hot choc and matchsticks propping open my eyes while I skim through 50 pages of prep (1 page agenda and 49 pages appendices?!) for meeting in London tomorrow. New committee, so feel I should try to have something useful to say, but it's all a bit tedious tbh ...

Will catch up properly tomorrow - missed a few posts earlier, methinks.

Emus · 19/09/2012 06:03

Blimey, I've missed a few days and now there are pages and pages to catch up on!

Have been really busy packing as we move house next week and am not looking forward to being without Internet until November (spoilt much?!).

I'm a bit worried about my bean. I have lost some weight (not much but now weigh the same as I did on 24th August) and yesterday I could do my work trousers up (which I haven't been able to do since about week 7). Am I right to be concerned? I just keep thinking that by now I should be starting to think about maternity clothes but yesterday has confused me.

On the plus side I've had lower back pain since the beginning of 14 weeks (nearly 15 weeks now) and some groin pain on Sunday (as had an active weekend) which are all completely normal at this stage according to Google!

Also, has anyone booked themselves onto an NTC class yet? I'm getting freaked out that I may have left it too late.

Also (again) rather disappointed that I finally shared my lovely news at work last week and since then my manager hasn't even spoken to me! I know she's REALLY busy at the moment but still think its pretty low.

theTramp · 19/09/2012 09:07

Emus - lots of women seem to say they bloat, then the bloating goes and they fit into their clothes again and then the belly bump comes. If you head onto the - when did you start to wear mat clothes - thread it seems some women didn't, others at 7 weeks and others at 24 weeks some at 33 weeks.. Or to put it another way, no one woman is the same. So I wouldn't worry. Your boss sounds like she's being a bit weird.

Crying at the great brutish bakeoff.. I hope it was when someone left and not due to a saggy meringue :)

Emus · 19/09/2012 10:06

Thanks Tramp. I am just a worrier! I've just been to see my manager and we've spoken lots today (but only because I initiated it) and she just said that I'm starting to show. She was looking at my 'top' belly though which is sticking out more! I'm pretty sure baby isn't that far up however so I guess that's just the extra food I've eaten over the past few weeks! It is slightly harder and less wobbly though.

I cried accidentally yesterday when I was telling my OH about my weird dream. I was laughing hysterically as I was telling him the dream (which wasn't even funny) and then just started balling my eyes out! Embarrassing and not sure where that came from, big giant fat tears as well! Oh, and I balled my eyes out last week when Chris Moyles and the team left Radio 1 - thank God I was at home otherwise that would have been embarrassing!

Manda thanks for the FB email - I haven't joined yet as I'm worried I won't be able to keep up with all the messages (I can bearly keep up with this one)!

sundaesundae · 19/09/2012 10:11

Emus, the FB group is very quiet, but nice to share scan photos and put names to faces. So don't worry about keeping up!

I think I have conjunctivitis, off to GP as it is very sore and itchy and I cried lots this morning because of it.

Haven't been sick today, yay! Yesterday I threw up all over the bathroom, I seem to get zero warning. Yuck!

Just booked Jason Manford tickets for October next year, all being well we will need a babysitter!

theTramp · 19/09/2012 11:11

Emus - you and half the board. Don't worry about it.

We told friends of ours that we were expecting last night, there baby is due November and they are thrilled. They just moved into the area, just up the road, so our small humans are going to grow up knowing each other well. Its really rather lovely and it was so nice to be able to chat to them about baby stuff. I don't want to bore friends not going through this, so chatting to friends who are further along the road than we are was like having a dam unplugged.

She's another person who has found Mumsnet a life saver!

sarahs999 · 19/09/2012 14:07

Where is everyone?! I'm currently awaiting my intralipids; scan was great, my consultant v happy, avocado measuring ahead by five days but apparently not a concern. He concurs with my 12 week sonographer that we are having a boy!

GummiberryJuice · 19/09/2012 14:28

Oh wow Sarah congratulations,

Ive spent the morning icing and will finish decorating tonight, I hope as my nose is killing me again

Emus Ive had that laughing to crying with each of my pregnancies, its how I started having suspicions this time that I was pregnant

Tramp its great to be able to share with friends who understand, some think they understand but then only realise when they're pg and have dcs they realise its completely different

sundaesundae · 19/09/2012 14:44

Great news Sarah!

Sheldonella · 19/09/2012 14:52

Hi everyone. Ugh, anyone know how I can stay awake? I've almost falled asleep at my desk this afternoon. Would it be so bad to have a second coffee today?
Great news sarah :) Are you the first to find out?
Em2010 Hope all is ok.

Sheldonella · 19/09/2012 14:53

Falled?! Fallen asleep of course. See, told you I need coffee :)

pinkpeony4 · 19/09/2012 15:20

Sarah yay for a fan scan and a boy! (do you already have a boy?) I am also having not number 4! Totally outnumbered in my house!

Sheldon could you go for a walk to get done fresh air? That might help. Otherwise just have the second coffee. I often do.

Sundae yippee for a sick free day!

Emu I was definitely very bloated early on and felt far fatter than I do now. Now I have an obvious bump and everywhere else feels ok could just be my deluded mind the bloating stage is horrid! I can still do my normal skinny jeans up but choose to wear my maternity ones for comfort.

Tiddley I hope you got some sleep last night. My Ds had a good night which was very much appreciated by me. He has got a stinking cold though and is v blocked up which isn't great.

sundaesundae · 19/09/2012 15:26

(Spoke to soon, another throat closey gaggy sicky day)

Sheld - lots of water helps me, or some mild activity.

My clothes turned up from Seraphine, the denim mini skirt is mini! And I am only 5ft 2, but will be awesome with tights and a jumper. Don't think it will see me through the whole pregnancy, but hey ho.

Sheldonella · 19/09/2012 15:32

Thanks for the suggestions :) I just had half a cup Brew but it turns out the work coffee is 90mg of caffiene per sachet so I don't feel too bad. Might also try to go outside for a bit as chilly air might help.
Ooh, sundae how long is that skirt exactly. I was after the midi skirt and emailed them to ask about that. They said it was 37.5cm but I thought they must have confused it with the mini. I want to order it but am tall and have a massive bum at the moment and feel a bit self conscious about short things. Sorry you are feeling sick still.
Ugh, only 2 hours to go...

theTramp · 19/09/2012 15:33

Sheld - me too. I need to be awake, but the temptation to crawl into bed is soooo strong.

Sundae - what is your definition of mini? Just above knee, or a belt that you shouldn't bend down in? :)

sundaesundae · 19/09/2012 15:42

I wouldn't wear it without tights, I would say it is mid thigh, and as I say I am quite tiny. The cord skirt is just about knee length on me. Maybe it was just me, I was just a touch surprised how short it was, but I think it will be nice.

theTramp · 19/09/2012 16:31

You can always wear with leggings
