frilly try to avoid fruit juices, chocolate and spicy food as they all seem to makeheart burn worse - although if you have those chewy tablets (taste like chalk!) they seem to be quite good for relief...

lol @Susie!

Only one person has ever touched my bump without seeking permission first. I must look grizzly most of the time Blush

geekette · 17/07/2012 12:13

On second thoughts I do take the liberty to say "eff off" or "bugger off", turn bump away or flip a bird if I deem someone to have been rude to me and hence not worthy of reciprocal respect :(

Jeez, I can be harsh... People seem to understand though or maybe they just put it down to the hormones and that earns them double nasty points in my books.

frillylemons · 17/07/2012 12:23

Just snorted water out of my nose, geekette!!

Westcountrylovescheese · 17/07/2012 13:12

...I have a 'hands off the bump' top that I wear often to get the message across. Seems to have kept the hands at bay for the majority of the time. Wink

sc0ttishlass · 17/07/2012 13:28

The starbucks barista had a good grope! seriously!!!

not sure if it is because my bump is absolutely ginormous so there is no doubt that it IS a baby!

still have one week at work after this week! gets to this time and I just need a snooze! cant really do it at my desk though! seems like most of us are finished work or very close now though.

panpipe · 17/07/2012 17:30

Congrats on your twins byebaby :) Lovely names too; without giving the game away too much one of them is high up on my list!

Had a lovely few days with DH off work and have nearly got the nursery finished; just another coat of paint on the woodwork and new wardrobe doors to go up and we're done! Cot and pram built too.

Glad you've all been sharing about your - ahem - tummy issues. I've definitely noticed a difference too Blush. Will mention to MW on Friday just in case!

37w today for me so officially the start of full term! I'd be ok to have a homebirth from today too so I've been making a point of going up and down the stairs as often as I can lol! I've been having such an uncomfortable few days that I wouldn't be too disappointed if baby did make an appearance now, though if MW's prediction that it'll be small is true I could probably do with cooking it for a little bit longer.

The3Bears · 17/07/2012 17:55

had a good MW appointment today with a more clued in lady than I ususally had which was good.

Back later once have had supper and read all your news. x

Weekipper · 17/07/2012 19:47

Pregnancy is a wonderful but anxiety inducing experience!

My new worry is that baby is back to back. I'm worrying if I've spent too much of the last 2weeks slouching on the sofa. So went and bought a ball and trying to stay away from sofa.

Scottish I'm booked to RIE too. I got 3 NHS antenatal classes but no word on a tour of the MLU or labour ward.

For my heartburn I tried gaviscon tablets but find the liquid much better. Now it happens when I'm hungry too. Pregnancy is also a mystery!

hamncheese · 17/07/2012 19:52

scottish yes I'm at the royal... was planning to be elsewhere when we thought we could manage to shift our flat in 8 months HA HA HA. So yeah still in town, and at the royal. I think it's been okay. My MW appointments are at Springburn though which irritates me as it is a pain in the bum train journey to a less than delightful part of Glasgow when I literally live about 500m from the royal!! Scan was good there and maternity assessment has been good too. With you on the lack of contact for results, luckily MW notices things like borderline iron levels etc and tells me. I was up there today actually getting a call to say that for the second time now my bile results haven't turned up for some reason so had to go be stabbed again!

Oh gosh I've done that cramp leg/husband freak out thing several times now. One time did it when he was in the shower though which was worse he wasn't there to push my foot and try and get it away. Ugh... do you think contractions are anything like really bad leg cramp???

Volunteered at 2 museums now so adding to the old cv at 36 weeks woohoo. Also

HAHAHA OMG seriously this just happened. DH is eating doritos on the couch. Jules (the cat) is on the back of the couch watching him intently. DH raises a crisp to his mouth and jules literally just puts his paw out to intercept it en route hahahahha brilliant I love cats! Grin

Anyway... can't remember my also now so have a good evening!! :)

PictureThis · 17/07/2012 19:57

HE'S HEAD DOWN GrinGrinGrin. Scan today showed him head down and I was so happy I nearly cried as I honestly thought he was going to stay breech until the bitter end. The scan also showed he's not going to be little and is chubbing up well......cue twitchy fanjo. I may live to regret being happy that he's turned. I've been really suffering with heartburn, especially in the last week or so and Gaviscon advance has been useless. My consultant wrote me out a prescription for Ranitadine today (think the mother of antacids) which has been fabulous. Incidentally on scan we could see that baby has a lot of hair. I had my suspicions that he may be as hairy as a chimp when he's born due to the amount of heartburn I've had.
Sc0ttishlass I've read the 50 shades trilogy, I felt they got better book by book.

Vinolover · 17/07/2012 20:11

Brilliant news Picture :) How big did they say he was?

My heartburn too has been awful and hasn't improved even though he seems to have dropped down. A bloody corn on the cob set it off the other day! I haven't had it during the night for a while though which is a relief!

I finished the 50 shades trilogy yesterday and I loved it! I agree with Picture about it getting better book by book. I think I experienced every emotion reading it! Not sure what Im going to do without my daily fix now.

Think I may waddle off to bed in a min! I am feeling whale like like today!!!

eightieshopaholic · 17/07/2012 20:21

Sc0ttishlass- wasn't sure about 50 shades but have to say hooked on book three already!!

Scan tomorrow taking bets is he 8Ib!! if so arrrrrhhhh 36+2 today!!

forgetfulmrs · 17/07/2012 20:38

Pregnancy is.... a test of your endurance and a blessing in disguise Smile

I saw the midwife last week (36) and dont see her again until 39 weeks which is a bit scary. I haven't even done my birth plan! With a little bit of luck I may have had the baby before my next appointment.

Congrats ByeBaby on the safe arrival of your twins.

PictureThis · 17/07/2012 20:39

Vino he was 4lb 2 weeks ago at 32 weeks with all measurements bar his femur length matching gestational age. His femur length at that time was measuring 36 weeks. Today (34+1) his head is right for dates but his abdominal circumference is measuring 37+4 and his femur length was measuring 39 weeks!!!! I dread to think what his measurements will be in a fortnight. He'll probably be the size of a small toddler when he's born GrinI'm not laughing, I think it's mild hysteria setting in!

forgetfulmrs · 17/07/2012 20:41

Ps eighties I'd be very interested to know the news after your growth scan tomorrow. I have been offered one as bump measures large and DS weighed in at 9lb 11oz but I have declined so far as I'd rather not know to be honest! Good Luck Smile

sc0ttishlass · 17/07/2012 20:45

Wee kipper, it's the Glasgow royal I am at, think u are in Edinburgh? But hopefully us mums based in Scotland are going to meet up at some point!
Ham, that's rubbish re spring burn! Not the nicest place to have to go! I'm lucky in a way that due to a blood disorder and fact I have no spleen, they just continue to see me at the royal so that's where all the mw appointments are. Rubbish re your delayed results!
Picture good news on the results!
Sounds like I need to get started on the 50 shades trilogy!!

Anyway have a good night all!
Xxxxx

Question for those of you with other children really. How do you cope with their needs and worries in run up to baby coming? DD is 6 and keeps asking me if I'll love baby more than her, if I'll stop loving her as much, if baby will like her etc. etc.

how should I deal with it? I keep trying to reassure her but she's not buying it and the closer D day gets the more clingy and worried she's becoming. She knows exactly how many days are left as she's been crossing off the days on a little chart she made when there were 25 days left - 8 days to go she told me this bedtime followed by "will you have enough love for both of us or will you have to take some off me for the baby?"

Sorry don't mean to go on but worried for her

Nightfall1983 · 17/07/2012 21:25

ontheedge I was the second child and when my big bro was worried my mum would tell him "I love you both the same, but I've loved you for longer!" which is cute I think? Tell her that your bump is so big because its part baby and part love, the baby brings all the extra love with him/her and won't take any of hers - but will love her very much as she's such a special big sis!

So I had my repeat 3D scan on Sunday, baby was head down again - YES! - and got some really cute pics so am really happy. Today I feel so huge, I'm twice as big as yesterday I swear...

Pregnancy is... something I couldn't wait to experience, and now I can't wait for it to be over! Mostly because I'm dying to meet my baby but partly because pregnancy is... really sucky...

tashaw28 · 17/07/2012 21:46

Ontheedge I had this with DD1 when I had DS2 and I told her I was having it for her to love too, bought her a pressie from it and she was besotted the moment he arrived! It'll be fine, promise

MrsMigginslovespies · 17/07/2012 21:49

Evening all,

Lovely to catch up on all your news. We do love a natter here! Hope everyone is ok tonight and doing ok. So nuts that it's not too long to go now.

Frilly, congratulations on becoming an auntie! Lovely news and exciting for you that you're next!

Ham, with you too on a clear out. This is one of my phobias (going when in labour) and my MW told me that it's nature's way of ensuring that you don't go in labour and the body empties itself of anything unneccesary. In theory. Also very clicky, esp ankles and toes at night.

I'm still not sleeping that well and my appetite is greatly reduced, esp at night.

We had a lovely trip down to Oxford and then Dorset for the 1920s wedding. We stayed in the most gorgeous picture perfect B&B and it was great to get away. DH looked fab in his outfit. I looked massive but did my best and people were very sweet at the wedding. If I can, I'll post some pictures. The 9 hour drive yesterday did interesting things to my feet and ankles, however and makes me wonder if feet can get stretch marks?!

Reading about being engaged, I'm 36 weeks tomorrow and was told today that I'm brim. So I guess a way to go yet, which is good in a way as gives me more time to sort out nursery. Also was able to start the ball slightly rolling about follow on gyne care and new IVF options for the future which was good.

I've not had that many people at all touch the bump, but I think I may give off a hands-off vibe! Just icky!

Finally, pregnancy for me is a miracle in spite of all the side effects.

Night all, lovely to be back in touch! x

ishopthereforeiam · 17/07/2012 22:03

Good news Picture

weekipper - dd was back to back after my waters had broken but turned during labour, so try not to worry too much... although it makes for a more uncomfortable pregnancy!

ontheedge dd is a bit too young to understand as only 18mo but we've got her used to the idea by getting the car seat ready, moses basket, bath etc as well as bribing her with a toy which we'll say is from the baby when he arrives Wink. I'll also be trying to get her to be involved as she likes to be helpful in the house so get her to pass nappies / wipes / muslins for the baby etc. I remember my sisters have a 7 year age gap and the middle one used to say to my mum re the little one "will it be like lady and the tramp" as teh new baby comes along. My mum used to say I have 3 fingers, they're all different but I love them all the same - not sure if that helps at all!?

After almost 4 months we've finally exchanged on our new house, phewwwwww Grin Wine Grin

Yay, insomnia Angry

geekette · 18/07/2012 05:59

I have had severe back, hip and pelvic pain when trying to sleep in my bed. Leading to horrible insomnia.

I changed to the sofa bed and that seems to have sorted me out...

Could you try a different sleep location frilly?
