gardenpixies32 · 24/07/2012 20:13

Congratulations Teds! Lovely news. Let us know their names when get a moment to yourself :)

angelpie2012 · 24/07/2012 21:40

Congratulations Teds on your daughter and son!

And Baileys, well done on getting so far with healthy weights - still my inspiration!

Had a 24 week scan last Thursday and all three were average weights for a single pregnancy. One's definitely smaller than the other two but the consultant was happy with the progress so far. I got given steroid injections as well as they're most concerned about delivery in the next 8 weeks. More a precaution than anything else but all quite sobering and spent the weekend trying to work out all the things we'll need to buy etc and declutter our flat - so much to do but am sure it'll all work itself out!

Also starting to feel quite big and beginning to have trouble sleeping - quite daunting to think that that's only going to get worse....

Hope everyone else is doing well and welcome to the new twin mums.

twin2makes4 · 25/07/2012 08:11

Yay congrats on your new son and daughter and well done on growing such good weights and cooking them for the longest possible time :) don't be too hard on yourself over the next few weeks, they pass by in a whirlwind :) i know from personal experience that i managed to check on mumsnet but couldn't actually reply so sending you lots of love xx

baileys well done on getting this far and doing so so well fantastic weights so hopefully you'll get to take them home quickly

Hello to everyone else sorry for lack of personalized posts my days are a blur of nappy changing and feeding!!!! Feeling absolutely shattered at the minute 2 lots of 2-3 hours sleep a night just doesn't cut it!!!! Grin Grin my girlies are so worth it though xx

LookAtHerGo · 25/07/2012 08:26

Congratulations teds that's brilliant stuff.

I find it quite good to think that people do get that far, it's probably quite hellish in the last few weeks though. My DD was 6lb9 (born at 41+1) so that's nice to see good weights. in fact I looked back and saw some had babies heavier than she was! It would be slightly funny if I had a baby heavier than her!

Un MN hugs to anyone struggling in the heat, I'm only 10+4 and finding it a lot, do you get the second tri energy at all, I hope so! Proper dating scan tomorrow as they couldn't do it accurately last week at the community centre.

claireinmodena · 25/07/2012 08:45

Congrats Teds will be waiting for you on the postnatal thread!

Congats also to all the new twin (and trips) mums to be!

baileyslover · 25/07/2012 09:45

.teds fantastic news, hope you are settling in well at home. Did the induction start on Thurs? If so well done for drawn out labour Smile
angel I had steroids at 26 weeks as a precaution even though no indication they were on their way. Felt quite reassuring knowing if anything was to start then they were better prepared.

Also don't know if you are on facebook but there is a very active triplet and quads group on there. It is a closed group, but if you PM me your name I can let admin know to let you in. Lots of triplet mums who have babies of varying ages, some born v early and are doing well.

skitoo · 25/07/2012 10:00

Hi All - haven't been on here in absolutely ages (sorry) but just checked in and so pleased to see Teds fantastic news - well done mrs!!!! Great weights and I can't believe how long you cooked them for, you should feel very proud, although all I expect you feel right now is knackered!

Think I should try and head over to the post natal thread to join the lovely ladies who are equally enjoying and being tortured by this multiple madness Grin.

My boys are 16 weeks now and are doing really well. They've gained loads of weight and are changing daily at the moment. I'm blessed with a couple of good nighttime sleepers (hope I haven't just jinxed that) but not so good at the daytime napping, so that's our current project!

For those of you currently pg, I really feel for you in this heat Sad. Going to sound like a real mum now but make sure you drink tons to keep those fluid levels up.

twin2makes4 · 25/07/2012 10:39

Hi skitoo 16 weeks has gone so quickly, saying that mine are 4 weeks in a few days!!

Claire is the post natal thread active cause i still can't find it!!!

Hope everyone enjoying the sunshine :)

mandasand · 25/07/2012 11:47

Hello there - is there room for a newbie?!

Went for a vialbility scan this morning as I was worried that I'd only had mild pregnancy symptoms which had eased off over the past week or so ... only to discover that I'm carrying two little beans! I'm only 8 weeks, so there is a long road ahead, but both are comfortably within normal range in terms of size and their little hearts are going at the same, healthy bpm. They are each in their own space with their own placenta.

We were just coming round to the idea of having one child, but now there's two DH and I don't know what to think! So, any advice on how a multiple pregnancy differs from a single would be appreciated. Particularly, any hints or tips for these early stages?

I look forward to catching up with the thread and learning a bit more that way too! Smile

It's one of the first threads called "under 1's twin post natal something"

Sorry on my phone and cant do links!

mandasand · 25/07/2012 13:11

that's really helpful, thanks claire!

KnackeredCow · 25/07/2012 21:38

Thought I'd just pop on to say hello.

I'm lurking at the moment and trying to follow everyone's stories.

Teds congratulations on your new arrivals!

manda I'm a newbie here too - and 8 weeks with DCDA twins too! Like you, my pg symptoms have been becoming a lot milder since Monday. I was scanned at 7+1 (IVF pg) and have a repeat next Thursday at 9+1 so crossing my fingers all is well.

baileyslover · 26/07/2012 15:01

mandasand welcome. My tip would be to pace yourself! Get jobs done before you get too big and uncomfortable but don't overdo it Smile

I am actually melting today. Don't know how I am going to last another 2 weeks Sad. I am having a few more BH, mainly at night, and panic myself each night I am going into labour, then every morning I feel much better and the BH stop. Will be more relaxed after Fri as Mum coming up to stay until the CS date, so won't be home alone anymore. Think it is all dehydration related so drinking loads of water but sweating so much I don't think it is working!
Ah well, sounds like due to cool off from tomorrow so will hopefully all settle down.

Hope everyone else is coping with the heat xx

gardenpixies32 · 26/07/2012 19:28

Not long now Baileys. I can't even imagine how you are feeling.

Welcome to mandasand and knackeredcow. Wishing you both a happy and healthy pregnancy.

This heat makes the day drag out. My feet are like watermelons and look terrible. I soak them in cold water every evening which feels so nice. I have two weeks of work left then I am a free woman until my munchkins arrive.

DreamingOfPeace · 26/07/2012 19:32

Heat? Heat? Nothing but rain here. It's grim up north :)

Hi manda, I found my twin pg miles harder than my first singleton one. I was sick, tired and very big, plus chasing DD around. And the rib pain.... I'd say don't expect to be working much past 30 weeks. I was very glad to stop at 28. That seems to be when most stopped on this thread at least, some got to 32 weeks I think. I was full term size by about 31 weeks i think...

And i didn't buy early but researched what I wanted just in case they put in an early appearance.
Bio oil or something for itchy stretch marked like a road map bump, soft comfy trousers. I grew out of almost all my mat clothes, fitted one pair of trousers by the end. That's all I can think of for now! Good luck!

xTwinkleMummyx · 26/07/2012 20:01

Hi all

I'm a new to mumsnet.
I have 17 month twin boys Spud and Sprout and I blog at twinklemummy.blogspot.co.uk/

I'd be interested to hear what ages your twins started talking. Spud and Sprout say a few words like 'GOAL' which is accompanied by hands being thrust into the air every time they kick a ball. Spud says 'Out' and they both say' Hello' and 'Dad'. I read that by 18 months (which they will be next week) they should be able to say 10 words and understand the link between the word and the subject. I understand that twin language development can be delayed. I'm just a little concerned that they just don't get it and I would love them to call me Mum.

LookAtHerGo · 26/07/2012 20:16

Hey :) had a proper dating scan today.

I am 11+2 DCDA twins :) all looking as it should, both seen moving on the scan. Edd 12 Feb.

Been a long old day today, spent 4 hours at the hospital! One doc to chat to numerous women, meant a long wait after the scan.

Have made it all official with everyone knowing now :) yay

gardenpixies32 · 27/07/2012 10:38

Congratulations on your double bump lookathergo! Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy.

Be prepared for the hospital to become your second home with all the consultant appointments and scans you will be having. I have had 11 hospital appointments in 16 weeks, including 6 scans so far!

FreeButtonBee · 27/07/2012 20:25

Oooh Lookathergo we have the same due date. My twins are due 12 as well. I have 12wk scan on Monday - v nervous - can't help, thinking something has gone wrong.

baileyslover · 28/07/2012 11:29

Hitwinklemummy
We are the antenatal group, so not much help on twin development...yet Smile
To get some good answers I would recommend starting your own thread on the behaviour/development or multiple topics, found under being a parent heading.
Good luck!

Everyone else, thank goodness it has cooled off a bit today, was really struggling in the week to keep hydrated and cool. Last consultant appt on Monday, think I may take my hospital bag with me...just in case!
Hope everyone else is well, and teds you are settling in at home xx

mandasand · 29/07/2012 23:19

Hello and thank you so much for the warm welcomes knackeredcow, baileys lover, gardenpixies! Thanks so much for the brilliant tips too Smile

Sorry it's been a few days before checking in again. I think I misunderstood your message, claireinmodena, thinking you were directing me to other groups instead of this one (even tho you titled your message with another poster's name)! Silly me.

I really am not entirely with it at the moment! Massively tired a lot of the time and a lot of cramping, like period pains (no bleeding tho, thank goodness), which I learn from my friend Google is normal for a multiple pregnancy. Other than that (and a bit of acne and headaches) my symptoms are pretty mild, so I can't really complain.

Is anyone else taking the odd paracetamol for headaches and pains? I took about four last week and felt really guilty but ever since seeing the beans on the scan I've taken none and suffered a bit. I'd hate to be a martyr if really it's perfectly safe!

Tonight I have mainly been freaking myself out with Google image pics of multiply pregnant bellies. I have a fear of getting that big as I have a twelve-inch scar from my belly button to within-my-public-hair which, although 15-years old, I'm convinced isn't going to be able to stretch that far. Can anyone put my mind to rest?!

Looking forward to checking in more often now I know this is the place for antenatal twins and multiples! Smile

baileyslover · 30/07/2012 01:00

Just a quick drop in to update. Think these guys aren't going to wait another 10 days before making an appearance.
Getting really gripy abdominal pains, and while not dilated earlier today, am suspicious I will be starting by the morning.

Will try to update later today xxx

twin2makes4 · 30/07/2012 08:04

Ooooh baileys how exciting sending you lots of positive vibes, please try and keep us updated Grin

m welcome, sorry no real advice about scar although i was reassured that your body just does it :) can sympathise with the tiredness and not being with it lol

LadyLillyWilliamSnowflake · 30/07/2012 08:13

Really late to the thread but I'm 32 + 5 pg with twins, My DS is 1 in 4 weeks, I'm really starting to panic now, I just want to go to bed and stay there I can't get out of bed on my own anyway with my legs crossed forever

baileyslover · 30/07/2012 12:20

Hi guys
Unsurprisingly I have been admitted. All ok and no signs of imminent labour but they want me on bed rest, and even with mum at home I know I will end up doing too much with DS1 so now just sitting on my arse hopefully til next Thurs. I have a single room with ensuite so not too bad, just need to try and not get bored. Will try to push for day release at the weekend when DH around, but guess it depends on how Ifeel.
Will keep you updated, 10days and counting! Grin
