Thinking if you and your babies teds!

twin2makes4 · 20/07/2012 09:01

Morning twin mummies and mummies to be :)

I've had a good week with my girlies but have made the decision to formula feed exclusively :( i just don't have the time to be sitting feeding for the majority of the day especially with the boys being home all day and dh back at work, my lovely bf has been coming round this week to keep me company but were doing ok on our own. both girlies have congested noses so that is currently impacting on sleeping and drinking!! They are getting more alike by the day and seem to be putting on weight,

my youngest ds is sometimes a little rough with them but at the same time so loving :) does anyone else worry about sharing your time holding and iinteracting with the twins? Sometimes it feels like im not being fair all the time :(

Could someone point me in the right direction for the post natal twin group i can't seem to find it!!

Hope your having lots of cuddles teds look forward to your update soon x

hope everyone else is doing ok, welcome to all the new mummies to be :)

bigboobsatlast · 20/07/2012 15:59

Just a quick one from me. welcome knackered and huge congratulations. have you started telling people yet?

thinking of you Tess

glad to hear things are going well formerlyknownasgoing! unfortunately guilt about equal shares etc is a feeling i think we all get, but try not to worry as both your girlies will be getting all the love they need :) other thread is on the multiples board.

my boys are nearly 12 weeks and so chubby fat and cuddly!

waves to dream and claire and everyone else!

DreamingOfPeace · 22/07/2012 21:36

No news from teds? Anyone would think we're not a priority to be informed Hmm !!

Hope all twin mummies to be are not struggling too much blooming and hello to all the twin mummies with their babies :)

FreeButtonBee · 22/07/2012 21:44

Just checking in, when did you twin mums start showing? I am 10+5 and don't eeally seem any bigger. Jeans still fit, haven't put on any weight. So obviously i am fretting. I feel awful so am clinging on to that until my 12wk scan next week.

claireinmodena · 23/07/2012 04:32

Hello

freebutton, I virtually started showing the minute I knew, well not really showing, but I couldn't wear many of my trousers/skirts from about 10weeks. But it was my third pregnancy, and you do start showing earlier after the first.

Is this your first pregnancy? Congratulations!

claireinmodena · 23/07/2012 04:34

Sorry just reread your post.

Do try not worry, there are huge variations in when people get symptoms, start showing, etc. depends on hiw fit you are, no of previous pregnancies etc..

I know easier said than done...best of luck with your scan!

twin2makes4 · 23/07/2012 06:58

Welcome freebutton i lost weight in my first trimester with this pg so didn't show till later, try not to worry and good luck with your scan :)

My lovely ladies have started to be a little unsettled in the evening its hard to passify 2 babies, anyone got any ideas :(
Babies were weighed on Friday freya is now 5lb12 gaining 13oz in 3 weeks and grace is now 6lb3oz gaining 7oz so they doing really well, i am so very lucky Grin

KnackeredCow · 23/07/2012 08:05

Thanks for the welcome! Smile

We have told our parents and very close friends, and I had to tell my boss because I've been feeling so shattered and nauseous. Struggling to get through a full day at work. Fortunately, it is possible to work from home once or twice a week. I'm doing that today so I can put my head on my desk to cope with the nausea get more done and have a nap at lunch time.

I am lucky really. I can keep food down and eat, and although I am sick about three times a day, it does tend to be when my stomach's empty (although that hurts more Sad). It's the tiredness that I'm really struggling with. And the constant nausea.

But from reading you posts, it does definitely seem it will all be worth it in the end.

DreamingOfPeace · 23/07/2012 08:18

knackered & free , I was very sick, lost 3/4 of a stone initially as I could barely keep anything down. I was being sick 10-15 x a day without medication. Buccastem worked for me though, i was prescribed that plus diarolyte to keep me functioning. I had a little baby launch from about 8 weeks, but again second pg and close together- my DD was only 10 months when I got pg with the dts. A mw saw me, and felt my tummy because of the sickness and pronounced she couldn't feel the fundus so it wasn't twins at 9 weeks, so it clearly wasn't obvious to anyone else! (At the time I thought of course it isn't, don't be daft, I was pretty sick though not this bad with my first and she wasn't twins). Ha. Everyone is different. I thought the tiredness was crippling too. The pregnancy was hard both physically and mentally... (I'm such a worrier) . So try not to worry about weight etc, and just look forward to the babies!!

DreamingOfPeace · 23/07/2012 08:19

Baby launch?! Interesting, but I meant baby paunch ...

KnackeredCow · 23/07/2012 08:24

Oh gosh Dreaming 10 - 15 x per day sounds so awful. How on earth did you cope given you already had a DC?

Does anyone have any tips for coping at work with the tiredness / nausea?

FreeButtonBee · 23/07/2012 11:19

It is my first and I do a lot of pilates so my tummy muscles are quite strong (they are also covered by a good layer of flab too - I'm not skinny!). I am short but pretty solid so it's probably just all hiding inside for the mo.

Thanks - obv most stuff is geared at singleton PGs so I do get a bit concerned that it's not quite the same for twins and also that it means that something has happened.

Gah - am not normally a worrier about myself/health stuff but this is testing me quite a lot. Also my BF had a missed miscarriage of twins last year so I am fretting that the same thing will happen to me. Would have to be terrible luck if it did!

DreamingOfPeace · 23/07/2012 13:41

We played a lot of games in the bathroom!!! My parents also came up a day a week each to help me and i took bin liners everywhere I went. I do remember being really sick, thinking I'd be ok for an hour so as there couldn't possibly be anything left to bring up, taking DD to the park and throwing up 5 times in the ginnel (sp?) in the village we live in on the short walk home, thinking it was the worst kept pregnancy secret ever.... I couldn't have worked then, but when i did go back, lots of little snacks and i planned my days carefully but did have to do less, ie no visits out in the morning ( after embarrassing puking incidents) etc as agreed with my manager. I was lucky, she was very accepting that with terrible ms and twin pg I would be doing a bit less than my colleagues.

LookAtHerGo · 23/07/2012 14:48

Hello everyone

Can I join in? Found out last Thursday that I'm expecting twins. I have a 10 1/2month old DD! Not sure if mcda, dcda or what, was only scanned at a community centre so going back on thursday to the hospital for another scan and an accurate date. Think I'm due around 15th feb.

Very excited about it, just going through all the practicalities of having twins and a toddler. Looking forward to chatting, although I'm not great at getting on here every day, I'll try and keep up.

Last pg I had HG, so I'm quite shocked I've avoided it so far this time, been a bit sick, but the count is still under 10!! In fact it has shocked my mw given I'm having two and I'm much more well than I was with dd. I do feel for anyone suffering, it's very very tough.

baileyslover · 23/07/2012 16:57

Welcome knackered, free and look. Glad to see some new blood on the threadSmile
Just thought, think I am next in line, 17 and counting eek.

Had final scan today at 31 + 5, weights are between 4 and 4 1/2 pounds. Know not necessarily accurate but hopefully means in 2 weeks time all three likely decent weights. BP a bit up today so had bloods to check for preeclampsia, fingers crossed all fine.
Hope everyone else doing well xx

DreamingOfPeace · 23/07/2012 17:51

Hooray baileys, you clever lady at 31+5 with 3! Are you nervous about the enslaught of three arriving or just excited? I might have been more nervous if i knew how hard I'd find it but mine are horrendous sleepers, still up 2 hourly at 15.5 weeks . Boys are lovely though, growing like wildfire!

baileyslover · 23/07/2012 18:53

Still alternating between fear and excitementGrin
really I just want the next 2 weeks of hell to be gone so I can just start the next chapter. Am so bored of not sleeping and everything being such a struggle.

DreamingOfPeace · 23/07/2012 21:11

Oh... sounds like my life now- so bored of not sleeping and everything being a struggle!!!! Wink However, the rewards now are huge, gummy grins all round, and there are great days in there too, and good days. I just happen to have had a few bad ones. DH and I were joking though saying on Saturday we'd have paid someone to take them away, Sunday we'd have given them away, today we'd sell them, so improving Grin Seriously though, they are a joy, and I doubt that many people can have twins or triplets who are still up 2 hourly at nearly 4 months, I'm just 'blessed' with terrible sleepers, so lucky I'm better than some on very little sleep. And I do adore my boys, but definitely take everyone who offers up on help! Especially meals, we did well for people bringing meals for that night or the freezer, life saver.

gardenpixies32 · 24/07/2012 10:58

I was hoping someone could tell me if they had the same experience as me with regards to carrying both babies really low down.

I am 25+1 and both babies are really low down, just above my pubic bone. For a very short time, the upper twin moved up slightly and I could feel and see kicks around my belly button but that only lasted a couple of days. Both were transverse at 24 week scan and I think they still are judging from the where I feel the kicks. If you had this, when did yours move higher up? Strange as my bump starts from right under my breasts even though there are no babies there!

Kazar99 · 24/07/2012 14:25

Hi gardenpixies

I had my 32 week scan yesterday, and both babies are head down low in my pelvis. Not helping my bladder at all!

Over the various scans I've had, they were both transverse then both head down then both head up. Then one head down low in my pelvis and one transverse right up high across the top. I find that one tends to sit further back so I don't feel it move as much, and the other (usually the higher one) sits right at the front of bump so I feel every tiny movement. They definitely started to move higher after my 24 week scan, presumably because that's when they need the extra space. They were still moving lots between scans up until now, and some days feels like both are quite high but other days one is definitely sitting really low. It also depends which way they are facing as to how much I feel the movements. I guess I'm saying that my two can be almost anywhere :)

Hope everyone else is well. Not long to go now baileys. I should get a date for induction after my 36 week scan. Consultant scared me a bit by saying I had a 50/50 chance of getting to 37 weeks. Should maybe think about sorting a hospital bag and buying car seats and cots :) went a bit mad on eby last week and think I now have enough sleep suits for about 6 babies, oops. At least I'll not have to worry about doing washing all the time!

DreamingOfPeace · 24/07/2012 15:03

oh but you will kazaar, you'll slip up (like me) and not have enough cot protector sheets, muslins, little cardies or something etc so a load need doing every day!!! Unless you're lucky and don't have sicky babies... even putting heads on muslins I need to change my cot sheets every day!

gardenpixies32 · 24/07/2012 15:48

Thanks Kazaar. I hope the move up soon so the weight is a bit more distributed.

Teds77 · 24/07/2012 19:13

I have no idea what day of the week it is or what time... and apologies for not catching up with other news... just to let you know that there are babies!!

My little girl arrived on Saturday evening (38+4!) weighing 6lb5oz followed by her brother weighing 6lb8oz.

All now safely home and will be back after some SLEEP Smile

X

Kazar99 · 24/07/2012 19:47

Congratulations Teds. Fantastic weights and well done you for cooking them as long. Must be nice to get them home so quickly too. Fingers crossed for some sleep for you all :)
