Welcome celestia!
Yep dcda is 20, 28 then 32 (Maybe 34) and 36 deliver at 38 ideally! But you alternate the scans with midwife appointments at 30, 34 then weekly x I don't think you really get over the shock until they're here but they are great. My girls are 7 months tomorrow - 7 months - I cannot even believe it is possible!!!

scollister · 19/04/2012 23:18

goingmad our reusable nappies arrived yesterday. I was advised to get 20 for each baby. I bought mostly bamboo plus some microfibre as they practically dry during the spin cycle. I bought mine from Little Lamb nappies, they are quite a bit cheaper than some other brands and you can save approx £1000.00 per baby compared to disposable nappies (apparently). Our council refunds you £50 if you use reusables, so worth checking with your council.
We opened an account and gave the details to family and friends who asked us what we needed, was all paid up in no time! :)

scollister · 19/04/2012 23:20

Congratulations on your news celestia! I'm 35 weeks and still have days when I think the news hasn't quite sunk in! Try not to worry too much, it's an exciting journey! xxx

rednellie · 19/04/2012 23:27

And to add to what scollister said, try The Nappy Lady website - they give great impartial advice on what to buy for your needs/lifestyle/type of baby (i.e. thin or fat, I kid you not). Grin

Welcome celestia - I've got didi twin boys, they're lovely, if loud. Also got a 2 year old DD who is far far far far more work than her two brothers. I had a bit of weird situ with my midwives and doctors and scans etc as I kind of went my own route with my birth (long story, but it all ended well)...I think care really really varies from area to area.

scollister · 19/04/2012 23:35

yes, also look at goreal.org lots of reviews and info!

BB3 · 20/04/2012 08:08

Desiren must be busy cuddling her babies! not that I'm at all impatientGrin

I was really lucky with the nappies and found the ones I wanted (and suited me) straight away and fortunately ds got on with them really really well and the girls too. But they can take a while to 'bed in' so to speak.

Bigboobs and scollister - I can't remember who's next!

Happy 7 month birthday to my not so baby girls!

bigboobsatlast · 20/04/2012 08:23

Happy 7 month b'day BB3 girls!! bet you can't believe they are 7 monthd can you?

Yes Desiren must be having newborn cuddled - we must be patient!! ha ha!

I think me and Scollister are about the same time - I am going in to be induced on 30th April and I think Scollister has a c-section booked for 1st May?? So not long for either of us now - I am so excited and counting down the days! This will be our last weekend just me DH and DD, as parents will be here next weekend so they are here ready to look after DD while I am in hosp. Not that we can do much this weekend as I cant do much - but I think we are going to go out for lunch tomorrow so that will be nice. DD is being super cute at the mo, cuddling my tummy etc (although I really dont think she has much understanding of whats going to happen!). Got her a pressie from the babies and are as organised as we can be I think. I would rather the house was cleaner/tidier but it will have to do!

Goingmad - did you speak to your mw about your pains? what did she say?

I have got to phone mw this morn as there has been a case of chicken pox at DD's nursery - but i dont think I have anything to worry about do I? I have had it and if DD gets it then she will just have to keep clear of babies until she is non-infectious?? Lets hope it doesn't come to that though.

Hope everyone is ok this morning - weekend is nearly here!

goingmadtrying · 20/04/2012 14:49

thanks bigboobs yes saw mw today she defiantly thinks spd so has referred me to physio, and gave me advice how to manage it, she also measured me and im 34cm!!!!! at nearly 25 weeks how big will i get :) babies were very active whilst she was examining me and moving lots, she said I've defiantly got bigger in last week, got consultant on Tuesday so looking forward to scan see how they've grown Grin

and i only have 7 shifts left at work finish a week on Monday just in time for our next lot of babies Grin

enjoy your weekends everyone sending lots of love to dream and desiren and all the mummies hope ur lo's being good :)

DreamingOfPeace · 20/04/2012 16:42

celestia congratulations!!! My dcda twins are 16 days old today and just delicious if totally nocturnal . I also found at my 12 week scan. Big shock, but i was so, so sick in hindsight its not so surprising. In fact, I was only not sick for 9-10 weeks of my entire pg Hmm . I was seen at 20, 24,28,30,32,34,36. Not sure if partly as dh so much bigger than me so more worried about iugr?? My friend at the same hospital with twins was exactly like BB3 said.

Still existing on 3 hours broken sleep a night, and both babies refluxy. Gah. Good job they're so lovely.

Where's desiren? Anyone'd think she's too busy to come and update us!!

DreamingOfPeace · 20/04/2012 22:43

Oh, and put a pic of my boys up today. Definitely non id don't you think?

scollister · 21/04/2012 02:45

Yes bigboobs I have c-section booked for 1st May but have my scan next Wed & fortnightly appointment with Consultant - will decide then whether to go for induction or not (unless they come earlier - I had a show last week Friday but nothing since - the 24th April keeps popping into my head, maybe I'm subconsciously hoping to avoid the steroid jabs) :)
Hope you get some decent sleep soon dream, are you going to post some pics???

DreamingOfPeace · 21/04/2012 04:38

24th April sounds good to me scollister. :-) . I have got some pics of my boys up now.

BB3 · 21/04/2012 09:35

Oh dream, they are scrummy! that nose-to-nose picture is just adorable, I think Sebastian is going to be the protective one! And can I just say, what an impressive bump (particularly as there seems to be not an ounce of fat on any other part of you!!!)

bigboobs, enjoy your last weekend as a family of three and Scollister 24 April would be a great day not that I am impatient for more babies to arrive or anything

claireinmodena · 21/04/2012 13:54

dream your boys are gorgeous and definitely different!
How is it going?

desiren hope you're having lovely cuddles and waiting impatiently to hear your news!

welcome celestia I think it's fairly safe to say that we were all shocked to hear the news! It's all normal, I was pretty shell shocked for a few weeks tbh, the pregnancy IS for most people (but you may be one of the lucky ones) much harder, so don't overdo it (use as an excuse to be spoilt)!!
I have b/g dcda twins who are now 10 weeks 3 days and are absolutely gorgeous (if I may say so Wink). I have two older dds as well.

nebbo · 21/04/2012 15:56

Hi twin club, I posted on here a few week back but haven't been back since. It's good reading though some familiar stories.
I'm 12 weeks with mcda twins. I found out at 8 weeks with a private scan. Morning sickness has been horrendous!! It's my first pregnancy so had NO idea it would be so bad!
I feel the same as you celesta with the shock, double everything!! I had to giggle at who it was said that the hubby will start thinking about cars as that's exactly what mines done!!
I've had a bit of bleeding (well quite a bit actually) but had 2 more scans that say all is well. 12 week scan in next Wednesday so we get to go global with the news! Did anyone else have bleeding early on?
celesta also, you will need more scans than they said. The nice guidelines that most units follow say 4 weekly scans for dcda and 2 weekly scans for mcda. There is also new advice to have iron checked at 20 weeks and again at 28 (it's just at 28 weeks for single pregs) I would be very dubious if your unit doesn't follow these scans at least.

Desiren · 21/04/2012 16:29

Well hello ladies sorry to keep you all waiting for news but boy I have had a shocker of a time. So I left it that I was booked for a c-section for Thursday will at 3:45am Thursday morning my waters broke! That panicked me abit as have never had waters break by themselves rushed to hospital as quickly as speed bumps would allow at 5am Entered maternity ward taken to triage asked to give a sampl said ok through the pain went for a wee couldnt get sample as in too much pain next thing you know I'm screaming I need to push twin 1 delivered at 5.05 rushed round to a delivery room twin 2 delivered at 5.10. Both boys healthy and gorgeous im a little shocked to say the least but very happy no c-section. So Drew Ackeem and Adrian Jai (AJ) are here!! They weighed 5lbs 12 & 5lbs 7 respectively they are gorgeous and identical so have no idea which is which at a first glance but can tell if next to each other (Drew just a little bigger) the girls love them to pieces and boy has it been hard work but soooooooooo happy! Ok if anyone can advise how to put pictures on i will do that so you guys can admire my handi work.
Welcome celestia

BB3 · 21/04/2012 17:00

Oh Desiren wow!!! Huge congrats, welcome to the world drew and aj and well done for coming out so swiftly although not for shocking your mummy! Are you home Desiren? I can't believe they came so quickly but yay for no section or prolonged pain of labour!

Pics upload in my photos section of profile page and make each pic visible to any mner and if you also make your profile public then we should be able to see your little men! Xxxx

BB3 · 21/04/2012 17:01

Look at all these lovely boys coming into the world, but think we need a girl or two to catch up!!!

bigboobsatlast · 21/04/2012 18:58

Wow Desiren that is AMAZING!!!!Congratulations! Sounds like a whirlwind! Are you still in hosp?
Look forward to seeing some pics. Congratulations again - can't believe how the birth plan changed! All good though (I hope) as no c-section so all being well a much speedier recovery.

chargos · 21/04/2012 20:22

Hi All was hoping to join in the chat!! Am 27 weeks pregnant with twin boys and already have 2 girls, aged 4 and 2, gonna have 4 kids under 4 and feeling pretty apprehensive!!! Just read Desiren's story and wow what an amazing one!!! congratulations!! Sounds like you also have 2 girls and now 2 boys! The idea of a super quick birth terrifies me after my last 2 and have asked for planned c-section but now am fearful that the same will happen to me and they will come mega quickly arghghgh! Would love to hear Desiren how you are coping with 4 kids and what you are getting in the form of help in the short and long term??!!! x

goingmadtrying · 21/04/2012 20:33

welcome to drew and aj wow what a fab delivery desiren glad to hear all ok and the boys are doing well :)

welcome to our new ladies, nebbo i had bleeding until about 18 weeks on and off found i had a corrosion on cervix which settled once everything moved up, chargos im mcda with id girls and already have 2 ds's who will be 8 and 4 scary but exciting all at the same time, im 25 weeks tomorrow and feeling huge!!!! can't wait to see how my babies have grown in 3 weeks :)

Desiren · 21/04/2012 21:47

Hi I was only in hospital 1 night came home Friday afternoon. With regards to support I have my DH who can't manage without sleep, managed to stay asleep while the both screamed at 3.30 this morning. The girls are being as helpful as they can and my sisters have also been looking after us.
Earlier in this thread a mentioned that I lost my dad (wow it's been a month) so that means my mum has not been here as she took him home as per his dying wish. Emotional phone call with my mother today she is so happy that everything went well and everyone there is saying the boys are my dad reborn. (my dad was a twin) but she is sad that she can't be here to help me but I completely understand due to our traditions my dad won't be buried until next month. To be honest I feel great could do with more sleep but I feel on a high. Breast feeding not yet going but I'm still trying!

Desiren · 21/04/2012 22:16

Erm not sure how to upload pictures from iPad, i'll give it a try on the pc tomorrow.

DreamingOfPeace · 21/04/2012 22:48

Huge congratulations desiren!!! So amazed by how fast you gave birth. My.dh is just like yours with regards to sleep! Hope the breast feeding improves for you. Dying to see pics :)

Hi chargos, I've got 3 under 19 months. Very hard work but just think how wonderful it'll be when our little broods are playing together :-) (so I keep telling myself). I currently have family help in the day so i have dh or my mum or ny dad, so always two adults for the three, and my dad is paying for a mothers help for two days a week to help me get out and about with them all and so I'm.not alone with the 3 while all so little. I'm very lucky. Currently I'm.struggling, but I've not had more than three hours sleep since my boys were born 17 days ago, and that was only once... I'm mostly getting 2 lots of 90 min sleep a night and its really taking its toll.

scollister · 21/04/2012 23:08

CONGRATULATIONS Desiren and welcome to planet earth Drew & AJ! What an amazing birth story! Hope you are getting some sleep & looking forward to seeing some pics of your boys xxx
