Just so you know dream has posted in the postnatal twins thread.

BB3 · 11/04/2012 12:16

dream has posted on the post natal thread to say she is home and busy trying to fatten up the babies x

BB3 · 11/04/2012 12:17

Cross posts Claire!

Hope scan goes well let us know!

Claire yay for better night! My two are awful for sleep at the moment!!!

BB3 · 11/04/2012 12:18

Oh and yay for heartbeats baileys. I'd take the guidelines in and ask why they're being challenged x

bigboobsatlast · 11/04/2012 12:51

Thanks for letting us know re dream. give her our love and fattening-up vibes!

BB3 · 11/04/2012 16:47

I am sure that she will be on soon enough to update us all on her scrumptious boys xx

NotsoYoung · 11/04/2012 17:00

Another twin mum to be here! Expecting MCDA girls, EDD 06.06.12

Slightly obsessed with the whole twin thing, and reading about other pregnancies etc!!

BB3 · 11/04/2012 17:28

Congrats notsoyoung - are these your first babies? I have (almost) 7 month old girls and it's lots of fun!

NotsoYoung · 11/04/2012 18:12

No, these are babies No. 2 & 3, we have a little boy who is 26 months, then we're done after the twins lol x

baileyslover · 11/04/2012 19:36

Welcome notsoyoung hopefully lots of babies along in the next few weeks to feed you obsessionSmile

galaxy I am 40mins south of Swindon so Oxford is over a 3 hour round trip, would switch there immediately if I were closer but I can't stomach the fuel cost or the time I'm the car. If it gets closer to my CS date and Swindon are not budging then an option is request a transfer to Oxford, but a long way to go before then.

BB3 I can't be that far from you guys, is there a higher proportion of multiples down here, or just more of us on mumsnet Grin

baileyslover · 11/04/2012 19:38

bigboobs how did the scan go this pm? And going what did they say about movements?

DreamingOfPeace · 11/04/2012 19:38

Hello,

Sorry for the silence. Hope the 34 week scans went well today bigboobs and scolister

Movement, or lack of, drove me wild with worry throughout goingmad. Best to get reassured, but was always position of baby/ babies for me!

Baileys the mum I know having triplets has a date for 35+3 I think for her CS. She's doing great, is having her trio 4 th May if they don't come sooner! I'd question 32 weeks as surely they're best cooked as long as possible!?

I have been having a hard time. My first day post op DD had a 24 hour bug so needed dh at home. He wasn't feeling right that day the babies were born, achey and a bit weak. I didnt think much of it but he got worse. So weak in his hands he couldn't squeeze toothpaste out, do up poppers on a babygrow etc. So my 2nd day with babies he was admitted on the medical wards. To cut a long story short, he has been diagnosed with polymyositis. So basically, he's weak and not right, though recovering now a little (& at home) I've been mostly on my own with the twins, my parents have struggled looking after DD.... Plus, of course, the boys keep me up all night so I'm feeling exhausted. The most I've had is 2 hours sleep in a night since they were born. And I've been feeling ill and nauseous since birth, culminating in diarrhoea and vomiting last night... Tip: do not vomit 6 days post CS -bloody agony!!!! So all in all I am a bit of an overtired, hormonal mess and thank goodness for my family.

Boys doing well though. The bf cushion is invaluable for me, but amount of time I spend feeding is frightening! I struggle to wake Ben to feed in the day but at night I can't stop them... I find I'm getting to 2 or 3 am and have been sat up feeding, or changing bottoms (they both poo every time they feed- every time!!! DD never did this!) without having lain down, let alone slept. Ben is a bit jaundiced, and has been poked n prodded and blood tested etc and they're making a fuss over his weight even though he's only lost 4% as he's under 2.5kg (he's 5lb 6 currently). But both look healthy and thriving to me. And they're both very lovely. Think this post might sound a bit negative as I'm.feeling very, very tired, hormonal and a bit overwhelmed today....

DD has taken to her brothers well though. Third day at home today and she strokes them gently, doesn't like them to.cry and generally has taken it Dar, far better than I could have imagined. And she's 19 months old today :-) . I miss her a lot though as I'm so busy with the babies, but she's having
a whale of a time with grandparents etc.

Long self centred post, sorry, but I'm so.tired I'm not keeping up with the thread well!

Love to all xx

rednellie · 11/04/2012 19:58

dream, you poor thing and poor DH. What terrible timing. I hope he's getting better?

RE: jaundice, weight loss etc. Madoc had exact same thing, lost just over 10% of his weight and was jaundiced well into our second week, but the midwives were genius and just kept getting his bili levels tested to make sure he was alright and kept cool about his feeding as he was clearly lively and 'content'. The nurses at hospital were much more jittery about it and were all for supplementing. I'm so glad I listened to myself and the midwives on that one as he's a right porker now. Just keep on feeding them, you're doing an amazing job, super mum!

I hear you about missing DD - it's hard, but it sounds like your little one is handling it really well and she's being looked after by people she knows and loves. In a couple of weeks things will settle down.

So the boys are 4 weeks yesterday - we've got our 4 week check up with the midwives. Can't wait to see what they weigh and get us all checked out. We're still doing good - days where we get out and about are far better than ones where we stay home, even with the enormous faff of getting 3 kids in and out of the house. The boys seem to sleep better and DD is much calmer. We're still having issues with her biting and scratching, she says she's doing it because the boys 'cry cry cry and makes Mummy sad' - oh the GUILT!!!!!! But she's amazingly maternal and cute the rest of the time, so who knows....

Glad all of you sound like you're doing really well - can't believe how close so many of you are. And welcome notsoyoung!

goingmadtrying · 11/04/2012 21:01

welcome notsoyoung

sending you big hugs and lots of love dream sounds like a struggle at the mo but your doing fab and excellent news dd is adjusting well, so when did you come home??.

went to mw re lack of movements she was very reassuring and listened to hb's was confident she got 2 different ones as 10bpm difference, still very quiet though so thinking they have probably moved :(

BB3 · 11/04/2012 22:29

Dream do not beat yourself up, do you remember me forcing asking dh to come home from holiday as looking after the twins (who weren't even newborns then) and a toddler single handedly is too much and you have a sick husband to deal with on top of all that! How is dh? How long will it take for him to see an improvement? Any long term implications? And how lovely of dd taking to her baby brothers so well. Hope Ben fattens up and takes that niggle of worry out the equation x your post sounds exactly how it should do for a post birth, twin mummy dealing with all that you are! Sending virtual hugs and chocolate x

Baileys Grin maybe southern/Wessex water have some explaining to do!

Great news about hbs - glad mw was able to reassure you goingmad

Rednellie hope check goes well - agree those days out are far more manageable than those stuck in x

bigboobsatlast · 12/04/2012 07:53

Welcome notsoyoung - not too long for you to go now! My DD will be 27 months when my twin boys come along, so a similar age gap to you.

Lovely to hear from you Dream. How is DH? I have not heard of that condition so not really sure how it affects someone or the recovery period - but yes, what crap crap timing!! Sounds like you are doing amazingly. lean in your parents as much as you can and hopefully DH will be in a position to help out very soon.

Its hard isnt Going, not knowing for sure who you feel when! MW sounds reassuring, but if you are still concernced then get yourself in for a scan - have you got one this week any way?

Can't belive how quickly time seems to fly once you have had your babies BB3 and Rednellie - does it feel the same to you? let us know how the check goes.

I had my 34 week scan yesterday and it went really well. Both boys still head down, although twin one is now the lower down twin so they have swapped 'coming out' order! Both are exactly 5lbs, so the difference between them as evened out which is great news - although I have a feeling that the scan two weeks ago that showed the 0.5 lb difference was probably just not quite accurate.

So..... I have another scan booked for two weeks time and my induction booked for 1st May!!!! I will be 36+5 when I go in, but doc said I will be more likely to have them on the 2nd or 3rd, depending how the induction goes.

So pleased to have a date - if I get that far of course.

Has any one been induced before? what happens / what is it like? If it doesn't work then I guess it will be a CS? so, still some questions (isnt there always?!) but really pleased to have the date booked so I can plan for that and see an end date, but of course be prepared for natural labour before hand. YAY!

BB3 · 12/04/2012 08:16

Notsoyoung my ds turned three last week and the twins are 7 months next week so we have a similar gap between kids too!

Bigboobs, I had an induction with ds BUT my waters had broken three days previously so I didn't get the pessary etc but had to go straight onto the drip which in all honestly hurt like a bi-atch especially as the three epidurals I had didn't work at all. I've had friends with lovely induction stories, mine wasn't one of them so in keeping quiet on this one! Yay for date!!! Roll on May xx

goingmadtrying · 12/04/2012 08:28

thanks bigboobs no should have had a scan this week but consultant on holiday, have one booked for next Tuesday, yay for induction date just after i finish work so will have lots of mn time :) no experience of induction so can't help or offer any advice lovely weights their cooking nicely and good to hear weights in line with each other :)

thank you bb3 feel much more reassured and some middle movements today so hoping that's the other one, mw said once i get to 28 weeks i should be able to tell them apart

hope your feeling a bit better today dream and dh feeling a bit better :) sending you lots of positive vibes x

Desiren · 12/04/2012 21:41

Well scan and consultant seen today all is well but as twin A has alway had head deep in pelvis they say they can not confirm if he has grown since last scan so based on that I'm going to be having a CS next Thursday if they don't come naturally before then.
I'm all excited don't really want a CS but rather that then induction. (just my opinion and based on my own irrational fears) so watch this space.

Desiren · 12/04/2012 21:41

Oh and positive vibes to Dream!

rednellie · 12/04/2012 21:59

desiren - sooo close. Good luck for these last few days.

Had midwife appointment - boys have put on almost 2 lbs since birth (4 weeks ago) so I am giving my boobs a bunch of Thanks Grin

I've got a variable diastasis - totally back to normal below my belly button, but 4cms at it and 3cms separation above. So I'm off to the physio to start working out what I should and shouldn't do.

Hope your all doing better today dream

OP posts:
bigboobsatlast · 13/04/2012 09:05

Oooo not long at all Desiren! Less than a week to go. I am sure both twins have been growing but I know it is hard to measure accurately when they are so squashed! Best to deliver them next week so be sure both are growiong well. Wow! You will have your babies so soon!

Good work Rednellie - that sounds a great weight gain. How are you finding feeding now? It is obviusly going well, but is it really really hard work?

I am getting very excited about my approaching date (30th April, not 1st May as I said before - got it wrong!). So in just over two weeks I will be going in to be induced and wont be coming home until I have had them one way or another! I am of course shitting myself as well

Carrying 10lb of baby is doing me in - but I guess I need to get over it as they could put on a fair bit more in the next couple of weeks - not sure how my body can accommodate any more though!

Happy Friday vibes to all. glass of Wine for those who can this eve and an indulgent dinner for those who can't!

DreamingOfPeace · 13/04/2012 09:10

Hmm. I've had another hard night with the duo. Constant feeding, nappies, winding, puking...
Still feel nauseous and upset tummy myself too- I'm scared of vomiting again post section!!!

Dh is improving. His grip strength is getting better. He has lung function tests and some other results awaited but it looks like he had a post-viral polymyositis rather than a horrible auto-immune chronic one so hoping for full recovery in a couple of weeks.

Oh, and goingmad, I was in hospital for 4 days post CS. Ben was jaundiced and not discharged as being poked and prodded and bilirubin tested, as rednellies madoc was. Plus the stress of dh being in. I was alone most of the time. I had a side room, but dh was helping with DD when she was ill, or on the ward himself, my parents were looking after DD so I did way, way too much (think twisting and lifting to get both babies feeding etc etc) and made myself sore.

rednellie, I have a 5 finger + complete divarication of rectus abdominus muscle... Got a support to wear when moving about and follow-up physio at 6 weeks. I did know the muscles were fully split by the end of the pg though so no huge surprise but I'm s bit worried about it!

Wow desiren, really, really close! They couldn't measure my twin a either, not that he came of his own.accord or they worried! And actually it was twin 2 who wasn't growing at a whole lb lighter when every other scan til 34 weeks had them within grams of each other.

I.also am not commenting on induction as mine was so awful last time and the reason for elcs not induction (maybe like you desiren!) .

Oh, boys demand me....

BB3 · 13/04/2012 19:13

Yay Desiren for close dates, and rednellie for chubbier babies!

Dream I'm sending get well vibes to dh, sleep vibes to seb and Ben and resting vibes to you, you're doing so well given everything you're faced with xx

I've managed to tear the muscles in my back today and am currently trying not to move to keep the pain at bay! Poor dh is having to do everything x

BB3 · 13/04/2012 19:13

Bigboobs yay for even closer date!!
