Oh yes, there is an Orla Kiely sale on as well and there is one nappy bag that is half price if anyone likes her stuff! You have to hunt around a bit on the website but there is definitely one in the 'past season' bit of 'bags' and might be one in the 'SS12' bit too.

rrrayray · 05/04/2012 15:09

Just a quick post so appologies for missing lots out!

Bemy - so sorry about the baby you lost, I too am just utterly bemused why the NHS seem so casual about GBS. I'm amazed they don't offer the swab, even if we have to pay for it still, what woman would mind that for piece of mind! Step b isn't even mentioned, I'd never heard of it until I was home DD and Mw phoned to say id been carrying it in the swabs they did when I was in.

Pinkpanther - now I understand why you already are GBS diagnosed. So sorry your consultant was so unhelpful. I assume from all your research that you are aware that it can come & go..... Are you planning to re test around 36 weeks? I've ordered the online swab kit & plan to test then!

Kayzr - wishing you the most wonderful wedding day.

Had midwife appointment yesterday. Baby is already head down, ceph presentation, but only measuring 28 cm despite being 31 weeks. Mw wasn't concerned though.

Saw our new house earlier. Building site. Bathrooms & kitchen not yet it. Moving in 2 weeks tomorrow. Oh crap.

Off to do some Easter baking with DD & stick my head in the Sand about the house.

Kayzr · 05/04/2012 18:07

Quickly popping on to say thank you!! I'm married now, the weather has been brilliant and it's been an amazing day!!! Grin

DairyNips · 05/04/2012 19:33

Ah that's lovely Kayzr!Grin

Kveta · 05/04/2012 19:34

Posting in haste, before dinner burns -

Kayzr huge congratulations!

Warlin empathies - we've also just completed a house move (four days' worth, as we did it mainly ourselves) and are both completely knackered, though very happy with our new home.

After reading the comments on this thread I will definitely be getting the GBS test. And I agree that it's high time there was a campaign to get GBS testing done routinely for all pregnant women...

smallwonder · 05/04/2012 21:56

I've had 3 babies and must admit to being very ignorant as to GBS, you guys have enlightened me, really didn't know much about it at all! Agree with Fanbelt, mighty frustrating!

Baby is now head down too, still has plenty of room to move apparently, got to hear heartbeat and measuring same as dates. Having been in semi denial for almost 30 weeks I've now become Mrs Panic Pants. DS2 pushed DS3 on the stairs before dinner this evening and my father who just happened to be making his way up managed to grab him in time -- its times like these that I really worry, imagining A&E and all sorts of dramas with a tiny baby too. Worry, worry!

Has anyone started nesting yet?
I've been organising all the childrens clothes and labelling boxes and storage. DH came upstairs from work yesterday and just smiled with an 'oh-oh'.

Happy Easter Holidays to you all.
I will be child free and looking fwd to rest, shopping and a meal with friends.

Wave to Mrs. Kayzr x

CathFin · 06/04/2012 06:57

small - I had a week like that last week. Putting DS into a bed and moving the cot out of his room. I also sorted and bagged all the little clothes into boy/girl and age ranges so I should be able to find things as I need them.

I am also not enjoying any thoughts of leaving my nest - even this weekend I really don't fancy 2.5 hrs in the car to my dads and I am certainly not looking forward to the drive to Ireland at the end of the month!!
I still have 11 weeks left so I should really get a grip!

Bit peeved as we had DD's friends over yesterday and one has now got the runs so I'm also worrying that we are going to be struck down with a stomach bug at any moment!

HorseyGirl1 · 06/04/2012 15:40

Many congratualations to Kayzr!
Thanks to bemybebe re: link. Will send off for the kit.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. xx

rrrayray · 06/04/2012 17:36

Congrats kayzr glad everything went as you wanted.

Small - my Mw said diff she said once head down at 31 w (which I am) she said unlikely to turn & if it did would be painful. She said plenty of room to switch bottom/ back from side to side but unlikely to do a 180 turn. Let's hope so anyway!!

GBS does seem to be rarely talked about and nhs don't seem to dish out information even on the private tests. My test arrived yesterday so will hang onto it until correct testing time.

Hope everyone has lovely bank holiday / Easter weekend xxxx

ffnorm · 07/04/2012 09:12

Morning all

How is married life MrsKazyr?

Hope you all had a lovely good Friday. We went to friends for the afternoon, was really nice and relaxing! [busmile]

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Kayzr · 07/04/2012 11:06

Just a quick post. Just had a 4D scan. Baby is awkward and we need to go back at 3. But they've worked out she's already almost 5lbs at just 29 weeks. I'm terrified at what it means for giving birth as they think she'll be at least 11lb if not more Sad

DairyNips · 07/04/2012 22:22

Aww kayzr please don't worry. The scans are notoriously bad at accurately judging weight. My sil had loads of scans in her pregnancy and they kept telling her baby was big. Baby born totally average weight even though she was over a week late, 7lb odd. With my ds1 they kept telling me he might be extemely small, he was 6lb 5oz, a bit small but not dramatically.

Anyway, even if your baby is a little larger than average, apparently a lot of women say that the body finds it easier to birth a larger baby as the muscles have more to grip to iyswim. Maybe have a chat with your midwife, might put your mind at rest?Smile

ffnorm · 08/04/2012 11:31

Kazyr it's true what Dairy says - they work out weight by a calculation of 2 head measurements, abdo circ and femur length,so if they don't get a good view of one of them the measurement can be quite out. When I was pg with DS,I was scanned at 35 weeks and they made comment of concern about his short femurs...(which had not been mentioned before) and his est weight was 2.2kg (4lb8oz) at birth he weighed 3.7(8lb4oz) and there was nothing wrong with the length of his legs Grin. So, she may well be a good size but not necessarily >11lbs.

Think I'm having BH's for the 1st time this morning (never had them last pg at all...)all in the top of my belly, quite sore.

Off to work tonight,so that's the end of my long weekend Envy

rrrayray · 08/04/2012 12:03

I second what ffnorm & dairy said, scan said DD around would be around 5lb and she was infact 6lb 6. Had a friend said was expecting an 11lb baby and delivered as 8lb.

Kveta · 08/04/2012 20:25

hope the 2nd scan was ok mrsKayzr

we think DS has threadworms, so the parasitologist in me is fascinated and plotting drug regimes, the mum in me is faintly repulsed. i can't be treated though, so will have to drug DS and DH and hope hygiene will keep me free from worms! bloody local cats shitting all over my garden though, grr [buangry]

OP posts:
smallwonder · 08/04/2012 21:11

Oh Kveta -- I hope DS is not too uncomfortable, bless him. Hmm to cats in the garden, it really annoys me. I keep the sand covered and try to make sure nothing is left out but when the next door neighbour's cat enjoys jumping from their landing window, onto my garage and into the garden for a wander not much I can do. Hoping you'll all be worm free asap!

Kayzr -- Agree with the others, please don't worry too much (at least not yet anyway). They did worry me slightly about DS1 being on the big side but he was born at 7.10lbs and not so big at all. How did you enjoy the scan :)

RRay -- Ohhhh conflicting m/w banter then! Well, as its a c-sec no worries for me as to positioning but that's really something! It definitely feels weirder than I've felt before, lots of shuffle-like movements on my left side and odd pains down below like I'm being booted. It must be as you said, moving bottom/back side to side. And just as I'm typing this got sharp pain down below again then shuffle shuffle....eughhhh.

Cathfin How's the Cathfin residence no bugs I hope!
Don't worry about getting a grip, i've been in this mode prematurely really and there are still those 8 weeks left. I get so very tired its unbelievable and am happy to just potter/waddle around at home. I will not venture out of town, trip abroad finished me, and everything right now is an online order. I did venture out for essential Lush goodies and treats yesterday but came home with swollen ankles and unfit to do much at all! Feel very old and tired.

Have sent the lovely OH to pick up some snacks. Making the most of it ;)
Hope to see all the thread's absentees back asap.

Kayzr · 08/04/2012 21:24

I'm not overly worried about the size as DS2 was 10lb 5oz but it's the knowing she's meant to be big. So that means no home birth and I hated being in hospital.

I don't want to be induced or have a c section. So I am going to talk to MW about going to the midwife led unit and doing it naturally. But I am there if something goes wrong.

Kveta · 08/04/2012 21:35

it's not the sand small - it's just general cat shit in the garden and toddlers licking their fingers after playing football out there!!

we've just found out that the cot we lent to my wee sister, on the understanding we'd get it back for any future children, is not coming back to us. So that's £100 odd down the drain to get a new one. DH and I are livid at this, as sis has given us back loads of books and clothes we GAVE to her, but not the thing we LENT.

and my parents - I shall rant about them later in the thread, but for now may I just do a controlled FUCK as they are PISSING ME OFF wrt helping after baby is born - initially they said they'd come down for a week and help, now they are coming for a few days holiday near us, and will not be lifting a finger to help out as they will be on holiday, so we have to cook for them Hmm and they would stay with us, but won't if we won't give up our bed for them. when I'll be 40+ weeks pg, or bleeding heavily after birth, with a new baby to look after. so unsurprisingly, I don't want to sleep on the sofa for a week... and the original week they planned to spend here has now turned into a few days then they're off to see my sister because they never see her - so me making the ffort to visit them leaves me without support whilst her refusing to visit gets extra time spent on her. am [buangry] this evening as you may be able to tell :o

and breathe.

bed time I think, then tomorrow DH and DS will beat the evil spirits out of me, and I'll give them chocolate, what a fabulous czech easter custom that is Hmm

OP posts:
Kayzr · 09/04/2012 08:56

Ffnorm They only took one measurement of head, abdomen and femur length. So it is based on just 1 measurement of each.

Kveta That stinks!!! I'd charge your sister. Hope you are happier today.

CathFin · 09/04/2012 14:15

Phew, well no one got ill thankfully.
I am so wiped out by the simplest things though - hope I bounce back once I have had this baby (which feels huge!).

Kayzr hope having the measurements come out large isn't bothering you so much now, I have also heard plenty of stories where babies were average having been predicted large/small.

kveta v annoying about parents, hope they prove a bit more helpful when you actually have the baby.
I would ask your sister politely for the cot back too, she could get one from somewhere else surely?

smallwonder · 09/04/2012 16:09

Is surprisingly quiet here, I am usually left reading posts for so long that I forget what to write on my own. Am hoping the lovely ladies are just enjoying the holiday :)

Cath -- That's good, let's hope we all stay that way until we at least have these babies! I am knackered today, have done very little other than welcome my DC home, make lunch and dinner in advance and dry a pile of laundry. Now sat in bed after a Lush bath. The DC are very tired after weekend away so will be an early night I hope.

Kayzr I probably missed that bit of info somewhere along the thread so hope I didn't sound all 'don't worry' in patronising kind of way -- you've already been there and done that, didn't realise! :)

Kveta I understand, I mentioned sand as we thought we had the same problem with DS last year when we were abroad, we discovered little visitors had been around when the pit hadn't been covered properly. Fortunately it was all okay but we got rid off the sand.

Sorry to hear about the cot, is she still using it? Are you close enough to express your disappointment at not getting it back? I'd be a bit peeved too to say the least unless her need was a greater one and she'd asked me about holding onto it.
As for your parents, we've been through similar scenarios, one parent has actually backed out of being here altogether so we are on back up plan is it were. I'd be very straight and frank and let them know you've been relying on them for at least a couple of days, that a makeshift bed/foldaway for a couple of nights is not such a big sacrifice. I'd certainly not be thinking of cooking for anyone or for them staying in my bed after having a baby and you have every right to be peed off Angry. And if they can't help out to the bare minimum then their loss I'd say and close the door! After all their grandchild that they will miss out on. That is my cynical view of it all i'm afraid having gone through similar.

Off to enjoy a bit of peace before OH is called out again x

justwantcheese · 09/04/2012 17:24

Congrats kayzr, what an exciting year you are having! Kveta I would be full of rage too, especially the cooking bit and sleeping on the sofa, whether heavily pregnant or post baby you need your own bed.
Finding it hard at the moment wish I could go on maternity leave. Every morning I wake with a headache and feel really sick and dizzy. I have woken with a few nose bleeds aswell. Mw says, blood pressure fine .has anyone else got symptoms like this?
Hope you all have a restful Easter break and got lots of eggs . X
