Perhaps if I drop into conversation before I go that I was too tired to clean it , he might even clean the kitchen while I'm out?

Then again......

Incidentally my mum cleaned the kitchen floor yesterday so that's ok Grin.

Wants3 · 30/01/2012 16:02

I am having major baby movements now, my whole stomach jumps through my clothes. I was not expecting this yet because of the anterior placenta. Can placentas move drastically? I was told at 12 week scan and confirmed at 20 week but I get a lot of kicks at the front. iPad gets kicked off if I rest it on my tummy!
I have 15 weeks to go but I currently have a load of newborn bits in the washing machine! BlushThe changing unit is being dropped round later in the week so I am going to set it up in our bedroom and fill it with stuff. This will then make space next to my bed for the crib when that arrives next month! It is frustrating not having the babys room to store stuff in.
I have been looking at the skip hop changing bags, lots of different styles and patterns and reasonably priced. Any opinions?

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 30/01/2012 16:14

Sorry to be hogging the thread today! I just wanted to say to Wants that my placenta moved hugely between my 21 week scan and my 26 week scan last week. It completely changed my care plan by shifting so far. So it is possible!

Yay for not being the only person to be prepping a hospital bag super early! Grin

scarletfingernail · 30/01/2012 16:40

Yay my cotbed mattress and moses and pram mattresses have all arrived. Now, just got to find somewhere to keep it all. This baby still does not have a room (building works starting in next couple of weeks just to add to the stress).

Very impressed Scream at the hospital bag being almost packed. I'll probably be doing mine when the contractions start Grin

Biscuits step away from the kitchen. Get your feet up and relax ready for your yoga.

Wants my bump is the same, I was watching bits poking out here there and everywhere earlier. Has you spotting stopped now?

My social life is pretty full on the next few weeks. I figured I'm not going to be out for a few months once the baby's here so I've planned lots of meals out with friends between now and April. I'm out with a friend tonight who is emigrating to Australia in a few weeks, will probably be the last time I see her Sad

Biscuitsandtea · 30/01/2012 16:51

Wow that all sounds like its coming together Scarlet. I think I have everything for my hospital bag now, although it isn't packed yet. Just remembered this morning that I need to find the tens machine from the loft and work out if it needs new pads or whatever.

I don't envy you though with the building work. Are you having a whole extension built?

I've got to collect my cot mattress tomorrow (amazon went a bit dodgy in the delivery availability for mine and said they didn't know when it would be available after I'd ordered, but I found the same ventiflow one on tesco direct, a few pound cheaper too). And we bought another Tripp trapp chair at the weekend which should be delivered tomorrow - mind you it's coming by Yodel so who knows.....

And I'm still waiting for poor DS's new car seat which seems to have some supply issues from Germany Sad. Poor wee boy has been waiting so patiently for his 'big boy' seat whilst the house fills up around him with stuff for the baby Sad.

Right, I'm off to get him back from nursery - laters preggos xx

scarletfingernail · 30/01/2012 17:20

That worked out well for you then Biscuits. I did have a look on Tesco Direct when I ordered mine but it was more expensive than Amazon then. I got my Purflo Sleepsac through Tesco Direct, which I went to collect yesterday. Yodel brought my mattresses today, no problems thank goodness.

We need to get the next size car seat for DS. I don't even know where to start. Another minefield to pick our way through. Hope you get yours sorted soon.

Not having an extension, but quite a bit of a re-arrangement that will give give us the extra room upstairs. It's a massive job which is going to be very inconvenient while we're trying to live here at the same time. But it's that or move, and we quite like it here for now.

What's your experience of the Tens machine. I hired one last time and absolutely hated it. I ended up ripping it off, I just found it so irritating. Maybe I wasn't using it correctly?

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 30/01/2012 18:11

Hmmm, tens machine - I was a bit Hmm about it. Didn't really find it that helpful, and also ended up ripping it off eventually. But I thought since I have it I'd ave it with e and try it again. I also wondered if I was doing it wrong or something?

I think my mattress is a diff price because it's the cot rather than the cotbed one. The cot one was more expensive on amazon than the cotbed one (by a few £) but a few £ cheaper on tesco. Already have the pram and crib ones upstairs ready to go (new of course).-

I still have this feeling that there is something massive I've forgotten in my prep. Like a real 'smack on the forehead' D'oh moment........

Biscuitsandtea · 30/01/2012 18:12

That should have said 'I'd have it with me and give it a go' Blush

Wants3 · 30/01/2012 18:39

Scarlet, we have just got the planning permission through for our extension so defiantly won't be finished before baby arrives! Major building works inside and out,EEK!
Spotting stopped by lunch but uncomfortable 'downstairs' for rest of day. Fine today thanks for asking.
Baby clothes all washed and most dried. Sounds weird but now they smell like mine I can imagine my baby in them:)

pommedenoel · 30/01/2012 20:03

Thanks dream but I think it's easier to accept when you know it's the safest/only (?) way to get your baby out. I was talking about flowtron boots!

I saw the anaesthetist today and basically epidural will not be an option for me with my meds (she reckons it shouldn't have been allowed last time). Nothing to pass my lips apart from water during labour either as obviously ga gets pushed up the possibility list then. Bit scary bit nice to have lots of info and I had already decided that I wanted to try and avoid epidural this time round anyway...

Impressed by everyone doing major building works that's brave.

Hope your ds is okay scarlet.

Wants3 · 30/01/2012 21:11

I am worrying abit about my placenta now! Silly I know but I have no scans to have it checked. What happens if it has moved low down? Something to talk about with the midwife on Friday I suppose.

Biscuitsandtea · 30/01/2012 21:24

Wants, didn't Dream have an anterior placenta with her dd but still loads of movement once it got going?

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 30/01/2012 21:26

Wants, that's so sweet about sniffing the baby clothes!

Pomme, I am awed by your stoicism. The moon boots sound restrictive and uncomfortable, but you sound so positive and No Brooking. 4 weeks to go, wow!

I have 5 weeks and 4 days to go until my ELCS, Biscuits. What are the silly little things that any of you want to do before the birth? I keep reminding myself to cut my fingernails short - I have quite long nails and I'm scared I'll scratch Bean, so I mean to cut my nails right down before I go into hospital.

Am also impressed by the building work and planned house moves! Oooh, on that subject, has anyone started nesting, do you think? I so have not. The house is a tip and I am feeling no urge to clean it. I wish someone else DH would clean it for me before the MW comes on Thursday.

Biscuits, hope the pregnancy yoga was nice and peaceful, and that you didn't clean the kitchen before you went!

Scream, yay for the nice physio bringing you crutches early! I hope they help give you some relief.

I've got my 32 week growth scan tomorrow afternoon (at 31+4) - FX for lots of nice growing. I think she's grown but it's hard to tell.

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 30/01/2012 21:28

Hello! Dream you could have a look around at bags you might like and then scour ebay for a bargain? I think though that it is worth investing in as you will use it for 3+ years for 3 children! Generally nappy bags are more durable and are well laid out for children's bits and bobs compared to 'normal' bags. Otherwise your going to have multiple bags which will be a pita!

I was induced about 12 hrs after my waters had gone so really should have been left especially as I was contracting and 3cms! Grrr!

Anyway, my shopping has come with nappies and breast pads and it has scared me a bit, as in this is really happening?? Shock I have bought lots like car seat, mattress, moses but it is these really personal basic items that have hit home! I have been waiting so long for this baby with TTC and this hard pregnancy. And I have to admit to having some scary what if it will go wrong moments, that are not in the no brooking spirit at all!

Biscuits did you get a deal on Tripp Trapp? I have decided to not get one for the minute as I was being too indecisive.

Oh I liked my tens a lot as I was labouring in my back and it was just like a massage, however once I started with the G&A I almost ripped it off as it felt really unpleasant. I did not get on with G&A as it made me feel very odd and puke a lot, so tens was one thing too many! It was really worth it until then though.

I need to pack my hosp bag, (I was hoping to buy a large nappy bag to use) and I think I am going to buy some really cheap PJ bottoms for going in there and maybe some tops, oh and cheap big pants! I don't really have anything suitable otherwise. But getting there as have maternity pads and nappies now!

Biscuitsandtea · 30/01/2012 21:43

Purple, Mothercare had the natural colour TT for £116, instead of the rrp of £150-160. Previously Kiddicare had had it at a similar price but they'd gone back up to £150ish. Mothercare only had the natural colour reduced though, but that was what we wanted anyway.

I know what you mean Purple about having 'panicky' thoughts. And you're right, after trouble ttc it makes me more nervous about it, not that that makes sense particularly. But I also agree that it's not in the brooking spirit to have such thoughts Confused

Too yoga was lovely thanks. And my lack of kitchen cleaning I think demonstrates my lack of nesting Blush. I never nested with DS either - maybe it would only have kicked in after 37 weeks? My mother was rattling in about how the nesting would kick in. I'm not convinced. I am also hoping someone else will nest on my behalf Hmm

NinjaChipmunk · 30/01/2012 21:46

evening! biscuits I was asking my midwife about tens the other day and she said she thought they were very good for second timers as was a birthing pool for those who get the chance. I'm hoping to try both in an attempt to avoid pethidine this time. Mind you will have to see what the consultant says on Friday as to what I can and can't have. Hopefully it won't change too much though.
pomme I've never heard of those moonboots before, had no inkling they existed. Is flat on your back the only option? Do you at least get to raise your top half of your body on the bendy beds? I am in awe, you will be brilliant.

I had a day with loads of movement felt yesterday which was really nice, although today we are back to the occasional lightly squirming feeling (I've eaten less chocolate!). It is nice to feel movement a bit more regularly now.

And yay for screams crutches. Brilliant news. I hope they help alleviate the cabin fever.

I was going to say something else but my mind has gone blank. Ah well, it'll come back to me I'm sure.

hawthers · 31/01/2012 04:57

Yey for scream 's crutches. Hopefully you'll be able to leave the house now.

Very exciting that more people are approaching their due dates. Might we have to star a postnatal no brookers thread at some point? Or can we just hand out here and continue to annoy anyone left.

Had. Mini weigh in with our own scales last night and g had gained 90g since thurs last week. Feel much better about it all now. And relieved that what I am doing seems to he working. Will fill in the boob lady's advice tom when on laptop.

Laters preggos (a ls biscuits

jaggythistle · 31/01/2012 07:38

yay for miniH! sounds like he's (and you are) doing well.

glad you got crutches scream. :) hope they help.

Eek these due dates are approaching fast!

i have organised precisely zero for babyJaggy2. oh well they have a new sleepsuit that DS chose. 3 months is a while right...

after reading here yesterday i did write a list of things to buy/do and hospital bag lists.

maybe it was a protest at lack of preparation yesterday when i had a small person lodged under my ribs for most of the afternoon. i was thinking they weren't quite big enough for rib poking activity yet at 27ish weeks.

got MW appointment tomorrow. think DS and DH will come too as we are out afterwards. must remember pee sample!

DreamingOfPeace · 31/01/2012 07:59

Oh the rib poking.... I have such bad rib flare/ pain at 28 weeks jaggy, its my most difficult symptom now and has been for a while...

wants, I felt masses with my anterior placenta with dd. I think from the way your uterus grows its more likely to move up than down- so a low lying placenta can become not a problem is more likely unless I've misunderstood. mine was anterior but never low at all.

purple, I will check out nappy bags then hit eBay!

Well done hawthers, will look forward to what the boob lady said but i think that sounds v promising! Good for you and mini H. That was so drummed into me by bf supporter too- bf babies don't gain steadily like ff - but I still found it pretty worrying when dd went from 50th to 17th centile even though I knew she looked fine etc.

scream, not had a chance to check out your cotbeds yet but I agree, why is it so hard to choose?! I agonise over these totally not life or death decisions...

Anyway, best go, joiner coming at 8:30 n me and dd not dressed yet!!!

DreamingOfPeace · 31/01/2012 08:00

Meant to say good about crutches scream!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 31/01/2012 09:47

Jaggy I was having rib flare by 24 weeks as when I had the bp blip it was a symptom of pre pre-eclampsia! A lot of it is down to position as if I have rib pain then I usually have bad heartburn too.

Dream if you keep checking daily if you find a particular bag you want then I find it usually turns up. This is my method if I want something, usually pays off if your not in a rush.

Hawthers so glad you have a greater gain, although I do feel it was very wrong of them to put pressure on you like that as he hadn't lost weight over a period of time! But again not placed to say much over the internet!

Scream I am glad you have the crutches but mostly you are getting the good care you need. :)

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 31/01/2012 09:51

Oh and thanks Biscuits! Here is hoping we can be better no brookers and stop worry about things.
I thought quite wrongly that I wouldn't need to spend so much having a 2nd baby... How wrong was I?

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 31/01/2012 12:00

So sorry to hear about all the rib pain! I hope that eases up for everyone soon, sounds like a nightmare, but it'll all be over in a few weeks (this is my new mantra!)

Congrats to Hawthers for Farley's weight gain! Nicely done. How is DS1 now? Sleeping/behaving any better yet? Hope you're getting a little more sleep?

Wants from what I've heard from the two consultants and 3 midwives who've spoken to me about my fibroids/placenta moving around in pregnancy, if they move at all it will only be upwards. They can start off positioned too low to move at all, and sometimes if they're too low to move and they keep growing in size, that can make them end up in a more problematic position (which is why they booked extra scans for me). However if it didn't start off low (like in your case), it can't then move into a lower position - it will stay put or go up. Plus the placenta doesn't get any bigger from about halfway through the pg, so it can't grow itself into a low position either.

Wow, considering how many times that's been explained to me you'd think I'd be able to pass on the info in a more coherent and concise manner! Apologies for my rambling, did that make any sense? I really don't think you have anything to worry about (but always raise your concerns with the mw if you're not sure!)

As for nesting, I think my nesting instinct has fully kicked in mainly due to being stuck at home but there's very little I can do and DH doesn't feel the same urge! It took weeks of nagging to get him to clear the nursery, and his idea of clearing was just to transfer all the junk into the main bedroom! So now the main bedroom looks like a warzone and despite my constant nagging he hasn't sorted any of it yet. Sigh. Need to find a way to motivate him. He keeps asking what I want to do for Valentines day, would it be wrong to say I just want to sit in a corner of the bedroom and watch him tidy it? Grin

pommedenoel · 31/01/2012 12:30

scream - That's hilarious - I reckon you should at least ask! I also love the story of him chasing you down the road to the corner shop and carrying you back. Good preparation for life with a toddler for him, heehee :)

I will be able to have the bed raised behind me during labour. I'm sure it will all be fine.. eek!

Hawthers - great news on weight gain. I am really eager to get bf right this time so any info would be great!.

DreamingOfPeace · 31/01/2012 13:36

scream, that's exactly what I was told about placentas but your explanation was much more coherent than mine- as I'm maybe a week ahead of you (28+5), does this mean that for each week of pregnancy oue coherency goes down that bit more?! eek if so!!

Our house upstairs now looks like a war zone. Honestly scream, I challenge you to a who's living in the biggest war zone' competiton. I have 5 black bin bags of baby clothes to wash/store for the boys, 3 white bin liners just waiting for the last additions of clothes DD is growing out of (so 6-9, 9-12 and a bag of 9-12 that the boys could wear), a pile of stuff that was hand-me-down borrowed so needs sorting, packing and giving back, DD's furniture just arrived, so her new bed (which she's not going into any time soon!) has been slid under our other bed, so all the stuff that was there (vacuum packed bags of bedlinen, other hand-me-downs for her to grow into etc etc) is all on top of the bed.... urgh, the thought of sorting it all and finding somewhere to store it makes me feel weary. On the plus side, DD's furniture is gorgeous, I'm delighted with it!!! I'd also just like to be sorted now Smile

well, DD gone down for nap, must get on with some jobs and resist the urge to mn/rest peacefully til she wakes up!!!
