Hi No Brookers! I do hope this has worked and is in the right place...

I've added a few extra sofas so we have plenty of space for all the Rat Smackers who will be joining us soon. There's also a nice long table filled with mince pies, yule logs, gingerbread snowmen and xmas puds! Plus some non-alcoholic mulled wine. I've strategically positioned a few clean glittery vom buckets under the table, just in case it's still a bit too early for xmas munchies for some people!

As you were...

Pomme my dd is 26 months. My original plan was to do the bed transfer first, so she still had the dummy to comfort her through that. My dp has changed my mind though, as we both think that for us, getting rid of the dummy will be the harder transition, so it might be best to do it whilst she's in the cot and contained at night!

Your story is reassuring though scarlet

Nice to see you imps, I'm brooking hard for your Jan 2012 BFP x

We've been to the zoo this morning and dd nearly fell asleep on the way home. Thought she'd crash out when put in her cot, but now she's laughing and bouncing around up there. I don't really mind though, as she'll go straight to sleep tonight.

Our exciting New Year plans involve staying in, watching tele and eating a jacket potato with beans & cheese. We really know how to party Hmm

Biscuitsandtea · 31/12/2011 16:22

Awww, ds has just, completely unprompted, shared all of his soft toys out into each bedroom. Some in his bed for him, some in what will be the baby's room 'for the baby in case it cries', some in our bedroom 'because the baby will sleep in there first', and then a random one in the spare room 'because....'.

Awww.......

DreamingOfAWhiteChristmas · 31/12/2011 20:35

Urgh. Last night was a fluke. I am battling the bedtime battle and feeling generally tired and miserable about it... Still, on landing, she can't see me, no banshee screaming again yet... pomme, I think one of our children should pack it in and get back to good sleeping habits soon, it would be most encouraging. I checked dds red book- she first slept through 7-7 at 10weeks 5 days, so this 'phase', granted a lot illness linked, has gone on longer than the newborn period did Confused

Biscuitsandtea · 31/12/2011 21:25

Remember your DD WILL get better. Eventually. xx

DreamingOfAWhiteChristmas · 31/12/2011 21:47

Hmm biscuits, but will I have lost the plot by then?! I was sat on the landing, occasionally peeking through her door thinking 'go the f%k to sleep baby', 'well, you won't go to sleep if you don't f&$%#g lie down' etc etc and considering writing a few more chapters for that book purple linked to for me a while ago! I'm becoming a mentalist. Confused

Anyway, she's asleep, and i just realised,

Happy NYE preggos!!!

pommedenoel · 31/12/2011 22:05

OMG dream 7-7 at 10 weeks is AMAZING. Little consolation no though I guess... They will sleep again, right?! First timers - that's very unusual to manage expectations correctly. At 10 weeks dd did her first 5 hours in a row stretch.

I've been reading online about toddlers and the new bed/screaming thing and the only recommendation I haven't tried is closing door or using stair gate and not going to them at all for five minutes when they cry . I've been doing the going in a couple of times and then leaving a longer gap thing but leaving the longer gap first??

Happy New Year all!! Here's to an amazing 2012!

Biscuitsandtea · 31/12/2011 22:11

Glad she's dropped off now Dream Smile. It's so frustrating isn't it, when you're thinking 'just LIE DOWN and go to sleep!

Anyway, she's there now, so you go and get your feet up and have a rest

Wants3 · 31/12/2011 22:56

Happy new year all! I am sitting here in my pjs, might watch a film in a mo. DS1 is out at a small party so it is just DH, DS2 and me to see the new year in. Let's hope it is an exciting one!
We have been transferring all the videos of the DCs onto digital today and watching snippets. I may be biased but boy were they cute! :) I am glad I am pregnant cos it made me really broody!

DreamingOfAWhiteChristmas · 31/12/2011 23:00

pomme, it was a miracle!!! My dd also did her first 8 hour stretch at 9 weeks having never slept more than 2 hours, and often only 90 min stretches before that... 9 weeks was the breaking point of exhaustion for me and i finally got hold of our hand me down cot (were waiting for it to be vacated!) and moved her into her own room. I nearly had a heart attack the first night when I woke up and there was silence from her room- I leapt up like I'd been shot, sure she'd died or something!!! She wad of course peacefully asleep while I was in feed-every-2-hours engorged boobs agony!!! And progressed from there to sleeping through in less than 2 weeks. Not reliably at first of course, but I was beyond gobsmacked!!! So while i was a dedicated breast-feeding baby-wearer by day, we were best in different rooms at night. Plus I spent hours getting a bedtime routine going (no tears involved of course)

And that's what I keep saying... They'll sleep again...

Hmmm, I don't know pomme, maybe try, I don't know. I find it so hard and so stressful listening to screaming. However, my step sisters little boy is 1 tomorrow. He has never slept through and was still sleeping in their bed, feeding every 1-2 hours when my step sis decided enough was enough- they put him in his cot, apparently he shouted and was really cross for 20 min, then slept, 10 min next night, 2 min the third and slept 7-7 for the first time ever. How pissed off am I?! He's reformed so quickly!!! I have left dd for 20 min, she can keep up for hours, but for 20 min and that result I'd have a go maybe and 5 isn't so long...?! I'm dreading putting her in a bed already!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 01/01/2012 00:01

Happy New year brookers!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 01/01/2012 00:13

Well I managed to stay up for the fireworks on tv at least! I'm quite surprised! Off to bed now...

HAPPY NEW YEAR NO BROOKERS!!!!!

Biscuitsandtea · 01/01/2012 00:27

HHHHHAAAAAAAPPPPPPPYYYYYY NEW YEAR BROOKERS

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 01/01/2012 00:33

We get to have our babies this year :) 2012 the year of newborn snuggles and loveliness!

DreamingOfAWhiteChristmas · 01/01/2012 10:25

Hooray, the year of babies!! Grin

Happy New year! Why won't it stop raining?! And why did dd make me spend another hour and a half getting her back to sleep in the night?! For goodness sake!! Still, this means 2012 will get better Smile

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 01/01/2012 10:46

Happy New Year! Here's to baby cuddles with perfect angelic sleeping-through-the-night children. After pain-free births, naturally!

Pomme and Dream, hope your DC crack the sleep thing soon and give you some peace.

Biscuits, your DS sharing out his toys is so cute!

My sister told me yesterday that my three little siblings are convinced Bean is a boy! Hope they aren't too disappointed. It's Dad's fault for not letting me tell him what sex she is. My two little sisters (aged 8 and 4) kept asking at different times in the hope that Dsis would let it out by accident!

musicalmrs · 01/01/2012 11:22

Happy new year brookers! :D The year of babies, how exciting! :D

Dream, yes, it does mean that 2012 will get better! Poor DD :( I'm sure you'll get her back to her brilliant sleeping ways, just when she's a bit better. 7-7 at 10 weeks is incredibly impressive though! Pomme, I'm sure you'll sort your sleeping problems soon too - in fact, I'm sure they'll just both click at some point, I'm guessing you just have to persist? :(

Biscuits, that's SO sweet of your DS!

Having lots of very vivid dreams at the moment. Last night's was about trying to persuade people that I would be able to swim in this year's Olympic team, despite the fact I'd have only just had a baby. And that I would win. I don't even swim that well... the mind baffles...

We had a nice quiet new years at my parents - I just about managed to stay up until midnight! Baby musical clearly enjoyed it, as s/he was prancing around a lot just before and after midnight! Heading home later today to blitz my pile of work before term starts.. sigh. 13 weeks left until maternity leave..

Scan on Wednesday. Starting to wibble now!

DreamingOfAWhiteChristmas · 01/01/2012 11:22

LOL too, they'll be delighted! But your dd may get some blue things from them :-)

ScarletFestiveFingernail · 01/01/2012 14:55

Happy New Year to all my lovely fellow Brookers. Wishing you all the very best for 2012.

I managed to stay awake (just) to see the fireworks on TV. The fireworks from our neighbourhood seemed to go on all night. I thought the windows were going to smash at one point.

We have our last day of socialising today and then we're looking forward to a well earned day home alone tomorrow before DH goes back to work on Tuesday Sad

Brooking for a good scan for you on Wednesday musical. Have you decided if you'd like to know if you're having a boy or girl brooking bean? Or will you LO remain unidentified until the Big Day?

I hope you're getting on well with little Farley Hawthers and are fully recovered. When you get chance to pop back on I'm interested to know how your DS1 is getting on with his little brother.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 01/01/2012 18:47

Musical, Brooking for a good scan for you too! Is that 20 weeks? If you can feel LO dancing so much already then that must be a good sign.

Scarlet, have a lovely day of relaxing tomorrow.

I have my next growth scan on Thurs. I'm sure Bean has just gone through a growth spurt - the other day I felt incredibly full of baby and my sides ached as though the muscles were stretching (ha, what muscles?). It feels more normal again now. The only other explanation I can think of is that she had got herself into a very weird position, maybe transverse, and that's why my sides ached. The horrible acidy reflux I was getting would suggest not, though - I'm sure she was headbutting my tummy. I can never quite tell which way up she is, though. Anyway, the MW measured the fundal height last time she was out and it was 27 cm at 26 weeks, so it all sounds good. FX for a scan that doesn't show something awful!

Biscuitsandtea · 01/01/2012 19:01

Brooking for good scans for Musical and Too.

Isn't Thursday a bit of an appointmentathon if I recall/

DreamingOfAWhiteChristmas · 01/01/2012 19:06

too, of course it won't!! It'll be lovely. By now they've had a good look at everything, and it was only one kidney, so apart from that she'll be perfect on your scan. I've had wierd sharp pains today, like you I have attributed them to streching pains.

musical, same for you, a wriggly baby is a great sign- no anterior placenta for you! After the 20 week scan feels much better though. Over half way, even I relaxed a bit, with dd at least!!

Monster buggy delivered by the family we bought it from yesterday. I'm horrified at its vastness... Their twins are 4 now so its even older than I thought, but works ok. I asked Dh if we could get the city mini double for better weather to carry one, push two, and ease of use while keeping that one for when I need to get all three round by myself. he says no!!!

I second the hopes for a relaxing day tomorrow scarlet

The landing is draughty- go to sleep baby!!!!

DreamingOfAWhiteChristmas · 01/01/2012 19:22

Urgh. Upset baby puked in cot, so full cot change later I'm sat in her room again. Good job she was stood up not lying down so only cot not her covered. She was so tired tonight too, we've probably already hit overtired...

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 01/01/2012 19:22

Dream can't you just get it anyway? The way I see it I am the primary user of such things so ultimately the final choice is mine and they are not that expensive if you get second hand especially. How about doing a ebay sellathon? Amazing how much you can raise by just having a clear out!

Too some days the baby is in a position and I am so uncomfortable, awkward to move as feel so heavy in the middle! And she will be fine :)

As ever I am looking forward to the scans :)

Ooh takeaway has arrived! Later brookers :)

Biscuitsandtea · 01/01/2012 19:55

I have a question for Ninja if she's around (or anyone else who's DC have gone nappy free at night - Wants perhaps?)

Does your ds wear anything instead of a nappy, like pants or whatever or does he just go bare num under his PJs?

We're going to make the leap at the end of this pack of nappies..... Confused

Please excuse my thread hijacking Blush

Biscuitsandtea · 01/01/2012 19:55

Bare num? Bare bum perhaps....
