Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
kri5ty · 01/12/2011 14:25

Just realised that I already posted earlier... it said I hadn't lol ignore last post!

HoneyLovesChristmasCake · 01/12/2011 14:28

Thank you ladies. Anti bac wipes seem like a good idea...not worried about allergies it's the thought of cat/dog/fox/badger/rabbit/hedgehog poo on his feet that had me crying. Poor DP; when I called him I said (in between sobs) it was inevitable I'd be a terrible mother because I couldn't even keep the car seat clean...talk about Drama Queen Grin Clearly I need to chill; the bleach fumes can't be helping...quite funny really, I insisted on getting fragrance free natural fabric conditioner for the bay things, so as not to upset their delicate sense of smell & now the whole house stinks of bleach Hmm Hormonal or crazy?

hohohomouse sorry to hear about your morning, I hope everything goes ok; growth scans can be very inaccurate though so even if they say LO is looking small don't worry too much as long as movements BP etc look good & don't be pushed into an induction unless you want one.

NorthernChinchilla · 01/12/2011 16:13

Christ hoho that seems like a lot for an entire pregnancy, never mind a morning. So glad your DH is coming home, and so unfortunate that you're going through all of this at literally the last moment. FX'd for the scan.

Honey, definitely try to relax a bit for your own sanity...! Ask yourself what's the worst thing that could happen if the walls aren't bleached. In any other circumstances I'd be pointing you towards the gin- hormones are evil, evil things. Your baby will a) be perfect and b) not notice.

MerrySorelip · 01/12/2011 16:23

Congratulations kri5ty :)

Baby cheep is sooo cute! I want one! Oh yeah...:o

So, I'm getting some awful 'feels like I'm being stabbed in the backside from inside' pain, and last night in bed, was getting some pain that is hard to describe - it was in my lower abdomen, and I think may have been the baby moving down. Is it normal for that to hurt? It took my breath away, and continued for about half a hour. It was accompanied by the usual kicks in my right hand side.

PludolphTheRedNosedReindeer · 01/12/2011 16:32

Hope's a babe! Smile

Oh, Honey, that nesting instinct is going to drive you mad! Leave the bleach alone, lest you spill it! Shock The antibacterial wipes are a great suggestion. I am a very big fan of them in life in general, as they are so handy and so often a shortcut is the only way to get anything done (that seems to be the philosophy of the Flylady lot).

Mouse, good thing baby knew what was what - better than a midwife! What a little star.

Tinsel, sorry, I have no idea about the baby's head positioning, but as for your mother's position about lunch - pffft! She's bluffing with a very weak hand; yours are the strong cards. Perhaps she's still feeling bruised from stepping down in the where-to-give-birth battle, and is trying to assert herself in some small way, thankfully without going back on the birth business.

OiMistletoe · 01/12/2011 16:38

Hello all, another busy day on the Dec bus. Thanks for the birth stories, I'm convinced I'm going to have a traumatic time due to the giant baby - but you give me hope, especially about the stitches notbeing so bad. I'll catch up properly tomorrow on the laptop and look at more photos. Smile
I've done over 4 hours painting today to get my granddad's new flat ready (he has dementia, and has finally agreed to leave his house so he can get more support/be safer). So I've been on my feet the whole time, or trying to kneel to do the low bits. I was fine until the very end when my hips just stopped working. Then started getting lots of twinges at the front. Am home, in the bath now, and all is calm. Think I'll bemega uncomfy tonight, but will it be enough to start off labour???
Probably not! Sad

Tinselperion · 01/12/2011 17:13

Yes plu and Bells - I shot back "do you have any thing nice to say to me because I thought you were calling to thank me for xxx favour I just did for you?" and she kind of stuttered a bit and muttered "oh yeah thanks" and changed the subject. It was v pleasing Grin

Oi and Sorelip I am having all those same pains: stabbing in the backside, twinges at the front, what feels like rummagings somewhere deep inside and period cramps. I will get in the bath after dinner and I bet that will calm everything down as well.

Northern - on the subject of snoring, poor old DH just came home from rugby soaked and exhausted so is having a snooze on the couch - he said my snoring has kept him awake for so many nights now he is really suffering and would I be offended if he slept in his study when it's really bad. I feel awful about it, but it's clearly linked to pregnancy as the larger and more immobile I get the worse the snoring. I asked my MIL about it and she said it's totally normal when one puts on weight and will go away after the baby's born.

kri5ty · 01/12/2011 17:33

Wish I could help with the feelings pre labour... but my contractions were in my back so I don't really know. I had a few period type cramps but that was it... and I had about 4/5 bowel movements a day for just over a week, hurt like I was constipated but i wasn't when it came out... Tmi!

aethelfleda · 01/12/2011 17:36

tinsel your MW has a point, but it's not just the weight: pregnancy hormones in themselves also cause enlargement of certain tissues (called hypertrophy) which makes them larger and puffier in late pregnancy. It happens in ones' delicate "girly parts" (to let the tissues stretch better at birth) but also happens up in the neck and throat area. That's why preggers ladies snore more, and it also makes them harder to intubate if you have to have a general anaesthetic as the neck tissues are all puffy. So rest assured double chins/puffy necks etc are all going to get better afterwards, in theory at least!

Hope your scan was OK hohoho......

OiMistletoe · 01/12/2011 17:51

Yep, can confirm that DH has been suffering with my snoring too.
(and the extra fleshy parts downstairs have led to lovely itchy rashes)
C'mon GingerBaby, mummy wants her body back NOW!)

OiMistletoe · 01/12/2011 17:52

Btw I'm due tomorrow. Wouldn't that be nice!

mopsytop · 01/12/2011 17:56

I am 3 weeks behind you Oi and already DYING for my body back - how you must feel now I cannot imagine. In three weeks I will be climbing the walls (metaphorically, can barely heave myself out of bed/chair as it is at the moment!!)

msbaublestwinkle · 01/12/2011 18:00

I can confirm that my preg related double chin has vanished after each birth so far!

Also with oi wanting my body back, have not felt like this with the previous pregnancies, I assume it is because I am done having babies now!

Just having my usual evening round of contractions now, seem a bit stronger today but I am not impressed and am ignoring them.

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 01/12/2011 18:10

Mouse hope everything goes okay tonight

PludolphTheRedNosedReindeer · 01/12/2011 18:30

Oh, nice one, Tinselperion! Good to see you can still use the ol' mother guilt on her! You will have it used against you enough, no doubt!

I've got swollen fleshy bits as well - thanks, all, for sharing. I even had to use the Waitrose baby bottom butter on my chafed bits the other day.
Speaking of sharing health and beauty products with a baby, I was re-reading old antenatal notes last night, and came across the snippet that a girl baby might have a tiny period-like discharge after birth. Poor little thing, what a thing to have to share!

Good luck this PM, Mouse

Hohohomouse · 01/12/2011 19:27

So the mini mouse is measuring small for dates (currently 7lbs, which I don't think is too bad, I am 40 weeks tomorrow) and they are not sure what to do. They are muttering darkly about induction which I am not keen on just if they don't know what else to do. Problem is when I moved house and moved hospitals they think the data is incomplete/inaccurate so they don't have a lot to go on.
So I have to go back to the hospital in next day or two and they will make a decision. I think at this late stage I will jump through a couple of hoops but absolutely not an induction for the sake of it.
Meh. I feel medicalised!

pludolph, I think that's quite common for both sexes to have swollen genitals due to all the hormones raging in our bodies at birth time. Boys can have massive ball sacks when they come out too!

Oh and as for the snoring...I have been banished to the spare room a couple of times.

HoneyLovesChristmasCake · 01/12/2011 19:30

Not too sure about wanting my body back...I have my doubts that LO will not leave it as they found it Hmm I made the mistake of googling post birth belly/tummy last week as I realised I had no idea what to expect... it wasn't pretty :( The first pic I clicked on was of a woman the day after she had triplets Shock Showed DP & told him to expect something between that & Heidi Klum who did a Victoria's Secret catwalk show 5 weeks post birth Hmm

KateKringle · 01/12/2011 19:46

Hohoho Mini Mouse sounds fine size-wise to me too. Make sure you stick to your guns about not being induced!

LittleMissHumbuggery · 01/12/2011 19:47

Hohoho 7lb is a good weight. It's an estimate too. Phooey to 'em:o Wink

aethelfleda · 01/12/2011 19:56

Oi humbug, watch it with those pompoms!

7lb doesn't sound too bad to me: DD1 was 7lb8 at term and considered plum normal.

OiMistletoe · 01/12/2011 19:58

I want a 7lber! GingerBaby was estimated to be 7lb 2oz 5 weeks ago. 7lb sounds perfect to me! Why would they want to induce? I don't understand.
DH has proposed that we have curry tonight...

OiMistletoe · 01/12/2011 20:01

And my mum had a 26" waist before she was pg with me, and said that she was pretty much the same 3 days after having me. I shall therefore elect to follow her genes, and shall be nice and slim again within the week - after having this curry! Wink

LittleMissHumbuggery · 01/12/2011 20:02

aethel Pompoms currently made out of strawberry laces, and flumps, savour the tasteWink

Mmm, curry. Want meat though!

aethelfleda · 01/12/2011 20:06

Nom nom. Nice pompoms, humbug!

have disturbingly creaky feelings tonight, think my bump may be moving south a little. Musn't read too much into it as have a long way to go yet!

Encouraging vibes to all of you more about to pop than I am!!...

HoneyLovesChristmasCake · 01/12/2011 20:19

Nom nom nom...just filling up DP's wooden advent calender with Quality Street...nom nom nom....one for the drawer & one for my tummy :)

Hohoho...7lb sounds perfect to me too; mini mouse will slip out with only the vaguest effort on your part Wink Anyway, scans are usually out by 10% at least. Remember they can't make a decision, only a reccommendation so stick to your guns if an induction isn't what you want!
