Welcome to the new thread ladies!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
msbuggywinkle · 28/08/2011 08:40

Woke up uncomfortable at 6am, braxton hicks are so strong for me this time round! The sonographer asked me if I could feel them at my 20 week scan and showed me the ridges left over from them! Still, good to know my body remembers what it is supposed to be doing.

seven that sounds pants.

OiMissus · 28/08/2011 10:36

msbuggy sorry you're suffering too. How long do your braxton hicks last? How weird that they leave ridges visible in a scan!!
I had a horrible night and the pain is still here this morning. I feel like a real moaning minnie. It's less in my tummy now, and definitely more in the bowl of my pelvis. I think it may be Pelvic Girdle Pain. Every position hurts. I've been sat supporting my weight on my arms, lifting myself slightly to keep the weight off my pelvis, but then my arms and wrists hurt. Do I sound like a hypochondriac? (I think so!) The pain is horrid. For the first time in 6 months, I've had to take pain killers (normal paracetamol) and I feel like such a failure (weepy morning). I'll wait a day to see if it continues/is PGP, and then call the midwife. It can't continue like this!
And I was having such a good pregnancy - up until this week I felt great. ...even my fabulously long nails have all started to break. :(
Aquanatal is cancelled this morning because it's bank holiday - but it could have been good to get some advice. Not a happy bunny. :(

BeeMyBaby · 28/08/2011 10:47

seven I'm afraid I'm the kind of person who would have ended up preaching to that woman about the errors of her ways, and would have definitely taken the religious moral high ground on that one. But I am a bit odd...

oimissus i asked on the pregnancy board about weird shabby pains and was told it could be round ligament pain, but its only painful when moving.

to those of you getting your mat b 1 form, make sure the midwife fills it out right - mine didn't and put the due date in section b, which is apparently the section for when the babies born or something like that so my HR dept refused it and now I need to get another. She actually did something similar in my previous pregnancy with that £190 maternity grant form, and meant I only got it 2 weeks before giving birth (so useless for health in pregnancy by that point).

msbuggywinkle · 28/08/2011 12:25

Bloody ages! They're longer than real contractions, not actually painful really, more like the feeling of having a really tense muscle. Having bloody loads of them today, probably too much walking yesterday so I'm spending the day on the sofa while DP is cooking sunday lunch then making chocolate brownies with the DDs.

figgygal · 28/08/2011 13:08

Oh my god buggy how far gone r u is it normal to have braxton hicks so soon? It's gonna scare the hell out of me when they kick in.

Overdone the housework this morning bathroom kitchen washing dishes polishing and hoovering all done sitting on my ass now with a headache oops.

Off topic I know but how lush does Gary Barlow look on x factor he is working that beard big time!!!

sevensevenseven · 28/08/2011 14:17

Very figgy!

I can't remember when I started having braxton hicks last time but I haven't had any as yet.

msbuggywinkle · 28/08/2011 14:31

figgy I didn't feel them with DD1, had a few during the last month with DD2, I'm 24 weeks with DD3 and have been having them for over a month. Must be similar to afterpains, which get stronger with each pregnancy too, mine were barely noticeable first time round...am stocking up on paracetamol for this one!

HoneyLovesCake · 28/08/2011 15:35

Can start as early as 16 weeks according to what I've read figgy I haven't felt any though & I'm 26 weeks with my first. Happy not to have them if there as bad as you'red describing buggy sorry you're suffering :(

zambooloo · 28/08/2011 16:23

Hi everyone, glad everyone seems to be getting on well - read back a few pages but I've missed a lot! Just wanted to ask a very embarrassing question... this morning I woke up and my left nipple seems to have leaked clear, slightly slimy stuff onto my pyjamas in a circle about an inch or so wide. What is this? I it normal? Has anyone else had this happen to them? xx

sevensevenseven · 28/08/2011 18:04

zambooloo you'd be better with msbuggy but I'd assume it's probably colostrum and you might need to start wearing breast pads.

msbuggy I didn't know you even got afterpains let alone they got stronger each time. I didn't have any with DS, at least now I know why the mw's kept offering me painkillers afterwards!

FairyBayleaf · 28/08/2011 18:29

Thanks for advice re Mat B form. Saw MW last week but she didn't give me one. Looks like i'll have to give her a ring on Tues and see f I can pop to see her then.

@figgy re Gary Barlow, I feel like i'm reverting back to my 16 yr old self watching it. I absolutely adore stern Barlow!!! And did you see Dermot O Leary telling that lad off last week - ding dong!!! Wink

aethelfleda · 28/08/2011 20:23

Hi zamboloo, fret not, it's the nipples warming up- they make clearish stuff at any point from 20 weeks onwards, it's kind of pre-colostrum and is the glands just trying out this secreting business. Usually the amount is quite small, but unless you like attractive cirlcles on your T- shirt at nipple level, get some breast pads! Mothercare, boots and big tescos all sell cloth (washable) breast pads for about £6 a packet, the Lanisoh disposable ones (£6 a packet from Mothercare) are fantastic post-birth if you're really leaky (they have the same gel you get in baby nappies and are the best brand to keep your nipples dry) but its cheaper to use the cloth ones before you have baby at least.

Hope that helps (as a graduate of the leaky boob brigade that's what I found worked best, anyway!)

kri5ty · 29/08/2011 08:00

Hey girlies... hello jomouse i'm here :)

I did a self cert last week in work so i was off, but back in today, feeling exactly the same, i have my 25 week app on weds so i will mention it to her, but they wern't interested last time, maybe if i tell them i nearly crash my car/ walk in to things and lose balance they might start to listen??

I have just spent a wee while reading through all of the posts, sorry for all of you who are feeling down/ emotional / tired etc

and mopsy i'm jealous!!

Hello sara :)

oimissus how is the house viewings coming along??

OiMissus · 29/08/2011 08:49

Glad to have you back Kristy! hope you had a nice rest, it's a shame that your dizziness is still troubling you. Hope they can give you something to help.
The house viewings went quite well, they all seem to really like the house, but no one is in a position to make an offer yet. We'll just have to be patient.
I'm feeling lots better this morning. No horrid pains today - yippee!

sevensevenseven · 29/08/2011 09:03

oimissus glad you're feeling better.

kri5ty good to have you back, just shout at them until they listen!

kri5ty · 29/08/2011 09:17

thanks vanessa and seven :) i'm not too good at the shouting at people part... with all these stupid hormones i am more likely to burst out crying! lol

My work are sending me to see oc health (i have to see them for medical probelms anyway, every 3 months), so i am hoping they may be in a very good mood and say i am un fit to work :o

HoneyLovesCake · 29/08/2011 10:03

And welcome back kri5ty hope you can get a doctor to sign you off soon.

kri5ty · 29/08/2011 10:27

haha honey i blame being pregnant!!! I would never have thought that iw ould think that way about him Hmm

That pic made me laugh... now all i am singing is "you can do what you likeeeeeee"

OiMissus · 29/08/2011 10:53

I have always lusted after Dermot. Charming, intelligent, caring and funny - with just a hint of ginge - just like my DH (!). Gary Barlow - yes, I must admit, the boy is now a man, not completely swoon-worthy, but not half bad! (I was never a take that fan - until their grown up come back.)

OiMissus · 29/08/2011 10:58

Just followed the pic link. Ha ha ha ha ha oh dear!!!
It's a shame digital photography wasn't around when we (I) was young, otherwise I'd be challenging you all to post your best fashion/hair faux pas - I'm sure we have have all "Done a Gary" in our teenage years!

aethelfleda · 29/08/2011 11:29

honey, it's not just you, I have to confess that Gary Barlow (and the whole of TT) totally leaves me cold! It's weird, loads of the school mums were busy dribbling and keening about going to see them all in Concert back in July, I just didn't get it at all. Mind you, I'm sure they think I'm weird with my preference for Johhny Depp (and when they were into Take That the first time around, I preferred the slightly more mature Patrick Swayzee. Phoarrrr... (in the eighties at least!).

OiMissus · 29/08/2011 11:39

He he he! She's like the wind. Classic! He he he!
